I say anti-hero, she is more like a Neutral hero, Like Blade but with Oni instead of Vampires

![]() |

I have! all of them Originate from her mask, she has a "morph" ability that gives her the form of a Kitsune, and all her powers are magic/Spirit based, in her normal form she is strawberry blonde with green eyes, in her Fox form she is Black haired with Blue eyes- i did think this very through

What skill should I change my sleight of hand for, since Black Fox already has sleight of hand?
close combat(unarmed), always nice to be able to punch when you don't have a weapon
or keep it that works too

Already got that. I've got power knuckles stashed in that utility belt of mine, remember? And I liked Turlin's suggestion; he's right.

Well! either way :p i think... i have Finalized my character....she's got her Nullifying swords, her slightly more protective than usual bullet-proof vest, her magical mask that makes her into one of the best dodgers/parrying monsters in the world as well as heals her wounds, allows her to meld into shadow, and Jump really high, and got her belt of goodies
with her mask- She is a superhuman badass, without her mask, she is a normal human that still has the ability to run away and kick ass, but obviously not as well when her stats are slashed and she has the mobility of a normal person

Only downside is you can take all that stuff away with a successful disarm check. But, I think it's a good trade.

P.S U gonna put some power names and descriptors in?

yeah, disarm her swords, she cant slash at ya, disarm her mask, she has no way to jump up 30ft or claw ya to death, but without her powers and equipment she is still a skilled ninja :P like Bruce Wayne without the batsuit.

My character is all about stealth and mobility. And, of course, combat.

Wow you guys post fast.
I'm willing to shift a few things to some leadership-oriented advantages/skills.
She's not going to feel that she's the appropriate one to lead, though. Which makes for good drama!

LOL, sorry about that.
Sounds interesting... a leader who doesn't want to lead but is good at it. Hehe.

![]() |

yeah, sorry for posting fast, i aint got anything better to do so i just pay attention to these forums

Whippoorwill |

Okay, dropping Agile Feint for Teamwork advantage.
Maybe this can be something she grows into. Some Amanda Waller-type character strong-arms her into pulling this group of anti-heroes into some sort of team, and she has to learn as she goes herself.
So as we advance I can take more leadership-oriented abilities.

a good old "the Misfits" deal, Taking a bad batch and making them good

![]() |

well, since im done with stats and powers, and all that- i think ill move onto Description.

no, I mean, background, and appearance- flush out character before i go trying to decide what makes her sad or go all Dead parents trauma flashbacks.
figure out if she even has an uncle ben to get shot before shooting him
order of how i do things 1)what she is/does 2)flush that out, get it detailed, make sure you know what you can do 3) Figure out How they got to the point they have these powers 4) Give them some Motivation to use those powers

U criticizing my backgrounding technique in recruitment?
lol

*shrugs* I just like Complications and stuff like that to happen naturally, I would like to develop a character before giving them a huge slab of Kryptonite to shove into their pants and become useless about. i mean, i already have a Kryptonite- take away my mask and i have no powers. of course the Mask is magic based and she also has Magic Nullifying swords that can be used against her.....

... i think that is how that would work. I mean, the Limit being "must be during a storm"

Sylin Blackwood-Shadowmeld |

Quick question primarily for the GM but also for anyone, would the Teleport Medium flaw work if it was (must be connected to the same storm system you are currently in.) with the intent being I'm riding Lighting to teleport.
That's a very limiting form of a medium. Just say, 'must be near storm'. Then, if you're in or really near a storm, u can ride lightning to wherever you want within your teleporting rank boundaries, not mattering whether the destination is still in the storm or not.
I mean, my character's teleporting medium is '(shadows)'. Basically, he has to be in a shadow, and he can teleport to other shadows. Shadows, however, are more common than storms, which is why I think it's fine to just be near the storm, and not have the actually physical storm as a boundary to where you can teleport to.
Sylin Blackwood-Shadowmeld |

sure, that's probably more reasonable. I just wasn't sure because outside of shadows all of the mediums were direct links
Yeah, but the point is for powers to be balanced, not consistent with other similar powers.

Sylin Blackwood-Shadowmeld |

Technically, in-game, your teleporting power and my teleporting power, regardless of descriptors, come from entirely different sources, and are entirely different powers.

Sylin Blackwood-Shadowmeld |

@Black Fox Spirit, I just realized- on your swords, I think you mean affects incorporeal, not corporeal. Corporeal means having a physical form. Incorporeal means not having a physical form. Like, a spirit is incorporeal.

![]() |

*shrugs* yeah, i now see that in the description, that means while im Incopreal, it effects things that are not Incorpreal. i can use the swords while im in Gas form, but i do guess that being able to hit insubstantal things is better than being able to hit substantal things while insubstantal.

Ohhhhhh, ok, now I get it. Wow, no, being able to attack while insubstantial is amazingly good. What modifier or power did you use for it? Nobody can touch you, but you can touch them.

![]() |

THhe thing is- i can turn to gas, it's the Insubstantal ability 2 ranks allowing me to be gas- but being unable to attack in that form and being an assassin is not the best, but having the advantage of beign gas and being able to use swords in that form makes sense, of course now that i think about it- probly should be the other way around because i can still use my soul-rend attack while a gas.

Ah, ok, rank 2. I was thinking rank 4. So some stuff can still hurt ya. Ur not quite as invincible as rank 4, but still pretty invincible.

![]() |

as invincible as a cloud of gas can be, I mean... doors? HA! unless it is vacume sealed i can get past it, but yeah fire still bad

U encounter a fire energy-wielder villain in ur gas form, u go boom.

haha, it's not that kind of gas, but yeah, Energy still hurts me, and i imagine a strong breeze isn't fun

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

A little idea I had based on what we've come up with so far
Whippoorwill's large, feathered wings stretched out wide, slowing her descent so that she landed lightly on the window sill. From that precarious position thirty-three floors above the street, she quietly slid the window open and slipped inside after folding her wings tightly against her body.
"Different meeting place than usual, Whetstone. I thought you didn't like heights."
Robert Whetstone was a genius weapons designer and tinkerer who supplied Whippoorwill with her specialized quills -- throwing weapons that carried a variety of effects. He was one of the few people who knew Briana McClaine before she became the winged person now known as Whippoorwill, and was her truest and longest friend.
Whetstone had grown up idolizing super heroes. When it became evident that he didn't have the type of body to go swinging from rooftop to rooftop, he did realize he had a gift for designing the gadgets that could help those who did. However, he trusted the wrong people and got embroiled into a villainous mercenary group: the C.A.D.R.E. -- Covert Arms Division: Reconnaissance and Enforcement. That's where he met Briana.
When Whippoorwill decided to break free, he eagerly went with her. Now he was fulfilling his dream of helping a costumed hero while the two both worked to atone for their past.
"Sorry, Bree." Whet's voice was strained.
Whippoorwill went immediately on alert. But before she could act, a light switch flicked on, illuminating the apartment, bare except for one small table in the center of the room. Whetstone stood looking sullen next to a man of middle-eastern descent wearing a government suit.
She glowered at him. "Baghi. What are you doing here? I've gone straight."
Baghi twisted his mouth into sneer. "Stopping a few muggings and car thefts is hardly going straight. Do you know how many U.N. nations would like a piece of you? Both of you?" He gives Whetstone a glance, who shifts uncomfortably.
Whippoorwill met his eyes evenly. "I can hazard a guess. But I think most would overlook my indiscretions if I just agreed to work for them. And that's not what you would want, is it, Baghi?"
With a sigh, he shakes his head. "No. I do not want that. But you realize, international relations being what they are, certain parties in Washington wouldn't bat an eye about sending you to be bartered and sold amongst countries they couldn't pronounce, much less find on a map."
Frowning, Whippoorwill shifted her stance from one ready to do violence to a cautiously relaxed pose. "What are you getting at?"
Shrugging, Baghi produced a plain manila envelope that had been tucked under his arm. He set it down on the table. "A traitorous mercenary is nothing. Alone. Has nothing protecting her. A super hero, leading a team, is respected. Adored. protected."
Whippoorwill narrowed her eyes, still not sure what his game was. "Last I checked, the Hero League wasn't interested."
Baghi chuckled. "I'd heard you had made inquiries. Very bold of you. It's why I'm taking a chance here. You wouldn't have reached out to them if you weren't serious about changing your ways. So, here's your chance." He tapped the folder on the table.
"Within this folder are a few 'heroes' trying to find their way. They may be more trouble than their worth. But then, you might be as well. But something's got to be done about them. And you."
Whippoorwill couldn't believe what she was hearing. "You're insane. You want me to create a super team?"
"I want you to explore your options. It won't be long before your time runs out. Think about what you can do before then." Baghi gave her one last smile, genuine this time, then turned and left the apartment.
After exchanging a long, silent look with Whetstone, Whippoorwill stepped forward and opened the folder, heart thudding in her chest.

I love it! It is perfect!

sounds like the perfect setup to get the young Loner Fox into a group where she can use her skills in what doesn't look like the murder of mob bosses and yakuza

![]() |

felt inspired to do my own setup based on that:
The sky was clear in Tokyo.... the moon hidden by the massive buildings, the streets below lit only by the neon and streetlights. It was a perfect night For the Prowling Oni lurking in the shadows, preying on the weak, the homeless, the lonely....
As the Fox prowled the shadows, her form unnoticed by the morals around her. She slid into an ally and brought herself back into form, crouching and examining something on the ground. She remains silent for a moment before speaking up "not many people can follow me as closely as you..." she says, turning to the man Following her.
From the shadows the man Slid out, Just as Darkly dressed as her, his own mask that of a Grimacing Demon "It takes an Oni to Track an Oni... Fox" He says, leaning against the ally wall and keeping a hand on the large Katana at his waist.
Fox sighs and stands tall "you here to kill me then?" she asks, her hands going to her Naginata at her back, sliding them from their sheathes and turning around to face the Oni. her mask glinting in the neon light shining through the ally.
Hardly... I'm here on behalf of C.A.D.R.E., they want you in America" he says, moving away from the wall and approaching her, taking his hand off the sword and moving to examine the tracks she was following "Hunting an ogre? tough foe"
"there have been 4 murders in the area, two disappearances, bodies partially eaten, crushed to death. When oni get out of hand they must be punished" she says, not at all letting her guard down. She kept her swords at hand, the blades buzzing as he approached.
"you dont need to worry about that anymore, I killed him just before you arived" he explained, turning to Fox
"this is my-"
"Not anymore.... you are needed in America, Fox. listen to your superiors or the dragon will not be pleased" he says, his hand going back to that sword, causing fox to flinch.... clearly afraid of this man.
after a moment she sighs and shakes her head "fine.... might i ask why?"

the Organization that Fox comes from is not really a good organization, if you note, she did act like he was there to kill her- which one in a good organization would not normally assume...

Turlin |

Okay wait... from what I understand is
Whippoorwill used to work for C.A.D.R.E, left and tried to join the Hero League, but fails. After that a member of the UN came to her with a deal, she leads a group of other unchecked and possibly dangerous people in an effort to go straight and create a (anti)hero team.
Black Fox works for an organization in Japan, in till a member of her organization and C.A.D.R.E orders her to go join Whippoorwill's misfit crew? Although both of those organizations are evil?
Did I get that right?
