Mutants & Masterminds (Inactive)

Game Master Turlin

A four-color story with hints of edgy realism! Please be respectful!

Im debating on running a Mutant & Masterminds campaign (3e rules) but before I put out an official invitation I wanted to gauge if anyone on here would even be interested. I've only just started playing and DM M&M myself but would like to spread this game. This would be a homebrew campaign by the way.

Liberty's Edge

I'd be very interested though I'm only passingly familiar with the system

I'm intrigued, but I've only ever skimmed (very lightly) through the rulebook - I haven't actually played before.

I'd need to do some reading and woyld need a little bit of habd-holding but I'd be interested for sure.

I'd be happy to teach people but I wouldn't be able to send pictures or links so having some experience or access to the rules is ideal. And to clarify I have the Deluxe 3e rules, but I don't think that changes the base rules, just gives more powers and options.

What's the setting and starting level? :3

ah i have the 3e mutants and masterminds rules i believe, and a few ideas i have wanted to toss around in the system, but i have never really played M&M(my friends where never that interested in it) and i have always wanted to try something in it

Edit: derp. sticky keys don't like me, sorry i

I'd be interested, very interested. I have the 3e Deluxe rulebook, and have already made some PL 10 characters, but have never actually played before. Only thing is it would have to be devoid of 18+ mature content, and I'm assuming it's a play-by-post?

No mature content, Does that mean my Character can't be an Anti-Hero? Becuase I'm 90% sure most folks don't play M&M to be big blue boy-scouts, they play it to be the Batman. Because you can be whoever you want but if you can be Batman, always be batman

Grand Lodge

Like most here, passing knowledge of the game, though I've never actually played. Would definitely be interested. I have a copy of 3e rules.

What sort of setting are you thinking? Big City? Mutant School? Government Operatives? Nighttime Vigilantes? Other? lol

or my personal favorite: a Villan ran dystopia where the heroes fight to bring down the evil goverment

I was going to see what people where interested in and then we'd decide on theme and power level. As for content I like to do a mixture of goofy characters with darker and mature moments.

But I think their is enough interest and I was looking for 6 players so we can play. But I do have to ask that you mostly know how to create a character. Also I'd like your ideas for theme. I was just going to go with a classic big city super hero team but if yall want to do something else that's cool.

this would be pbp by the way.

I'm fine with 'batman' and 'dark knight' type moments, sure, I'm totally fine with more mature violence, and, if you really need, we can take down drug dealers or whatever. Just not any, like, prostitutes or anything like that. And, yes, I'm good with making a character, I'll just re-read the combat mechanics and I'm good to go.

And yeah, I'm fine with antiheroes too, I think my character would be exacty that.

I'm interested. I love playing superhero rpgs.

I've got a PL 12 character already statted up, named Whippoorwill. She's a winged flyer, superb combatant and uses a whip and trick throwing weapons.

Neat character but I think id like to keep this PL 10 or lower to start... I know I know, I'm kinda going back on what I said, but... yeah.

I think I'm going to close recruitment and ask that if you want to play move over to the Discussion tab.

That's good for me, I have a PL 10 character... actually, I have a lot. I suppose we'll be using Discord or...?

I'll get up a character written up soon. Antiheroes sounds fun.

I think we'll just stick around here for pbp.

Alright, cool. I'll send ya over the character sheet...

Actually, how should I send it? It's not like I can send screenshots through here.

Although it's alot of trouble, could so type it out and send me a link for it? Sorry to ask but that's gonna make this easier.

Hrm... would a screenshot link work?

NVM, I can't get it to work. I'll just type it out.

So, I might possibly edit it a bit, but I wanted a second opinion. Do you think I have too many movement powers? Should I take out Shadowline? The idea just seemed really cool.
Another redundancy might be the fact I have a bow and boomerangs, plus the other stuff in my utility belt, but I dunno, isn't it good to have a backup? Or is there no point having one with ranged?

I think its fine. Although can I get his complications? (ie. motivations, weak spots in personal life, problems, ideals, etc)

and if Batman taught me anything, backups are always a good idea!

Alright, cool. Yeah, I'll send em' over in a sec...

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Motivations:
Justice. He was found on the streets by a kind couple when he was barely 2 years old. He has no memory of his parents, and ever since he was five he had these strange powers. His adopted parents lived in a rough part of town, but they tried to provide for him as best they could. One day, when he was seven, his 'mother' was killed in a mugging. After that, his 'dad' fell into darker and darker moods, eventually becoming a sort of antihero. He began stealing from any wealthy people who happened to be around the rough neighborhood, and encouraged Sylin to do the same. Eventually, he worked up enough money to get a few guns and other gadgets, and started taking on muggers and other violent criminals. He took on more and more capable opponents, and forced Sylin to watch in the background, shrouded in shadows. Once, he stumbled upon a small-time hero fighting an equally small-time villain. The villain had the upper hand, so he decided to get involved. Sylin watched, scared out of his wits, as the villain trapped the hero and killed Sylin's father. Furious, Sylin went out of his shadow-form, grabbing a gun from his dad's fallen form and striking the surprised villain down. A thirst for justice and revenge has kindled in him ever since.
Acceptance. Not knowing what he is, or why he has these powers gives Sylin a heavy burden, and sometimes he wishes he could be normal... and other times, he is astounded and joyful of his own power.
Thrills. He's always been quite ambitious, and quite daring, though not foolishly so.
He also has a bit of a temper...

Sorry if it was too complex, I get a bit carried away with these things, lol.

Also... suffocation immunity doesn't seem that important, now that I've read up on it some more. Do you think I should swap it and Shadowline for Teleporting limited to shadows? I was thinking about squeezing in a Shadowport anyway, but I didn't end up with enough points. Sorry, I'm a bit precise when it comes to making characters, lol.

I think you should keep it. Get teleportation later.
