Divine Hunter Hierophant Paladin of Desna. Throwing weapon build, something which only really works in mythic. With +8 hit, 20ft range and 1d4+4 damage, she’s pretty weak right now. She’ll get better with levels.
She has Int14 so the party now has skills, as has been requested numerous times. She has constant detect magic, a spell that the party currently lacks. She will have the legendary item for extra spells and is a Hierophant. And with luck domain she can help other with spells too.
The downside is that she is as tough as a paper napkin in a blizzard.
Donnen Phelps |
I'm sorry, mate, but Divine Fighting Technique requires you to have the same alignment as your deity. Desna is a chaotic good deity and we're paladins (and the GM didn't allow the ex-paladin archetype).
Ghorza Thursisdottir |
So you are right! Thank you. Fixed.
Life was lonely in Chesed. Aelessa never knew her father, though she heard all the cruel whispers. It was her white hair, and her ability to see in the dark. Being so close to the World Wound, there where many who questioned her heritage. More so, it was her mother, who had left in a merchant caravan and returned alone, with child and no answers. It would have been unnatural for there not to be rumors. For Aelessa though, it meant isolation. Isolation from her community, and her mother whose love and attention always seemed mixed with resentment. Her childhood was thus spent lost in dreams, dreaming of the wide world and the people within it.
As she grew into adulthood her dreams turned into a study of maps. She would spend hours upon hours studying them and planning adventures which she would never take. In time the rumors died down and the community accepted her, more or less. She even took on a job with a cartographer, where she learned the trade. And it was there that she would have spent her entire life, if not for a priestess of Desna who came inside.
An idle conversation became a life changing event. To meet someone who lived her dream? With her eyes opened, the barely-an-adult woman sold everything she owned to join the priestess on her journeys.
For months she wandered, leaving Chesed and wandering Numeria, learning the ways of Desna. Of song, of dance, of the Starknife. And with each step she went further and further from her home, until she reached the point where she no longer looked back. Where the road ahead was what mattered, regardless of where it went.
The two eventually parted ways, as was the way of Desnans. The priestess gave Aelessa a belt, inscribed with prayers of travel, and Aelessa gave her map making tools, her most prized possession. The priestess kept going south, and Aelessa went north. For there was a place that she felt a driving urge to see. Kenabres...the edge of the world. The last refuge before the End of All Things. To there she walked, thinking that it was best to truly start her journey at the end of the world. But when she got there, it was just in time for the disastrous fall, and she did not foresee what she would be swept into. But to her, it did not matter. For the destination was not important, only the journey.

Better! Just confused on the blinkback belt. It costs 5000 gold. The wealth by level at level 3 is 3000 gold, and you'd be limited to 1500 gold in a single item. I'm not sure if I'm missing something - is this on your "desired" list?
Ghorza Thursisdottir |
F* that was copied from a previous character and I forgot that was from a PC with the crafting feat. It’s dropped and replaced with a bandolier of knives to throw. Thanks for the catch. Hopefully that’s the end of my issues. <embarrassed>
Leothar |
Looks like you are still a Desnan though. Desna doesn't have paladins. Paladins have to follow a LG, LN, or NG deity.
Ghorza Thursisdottir |
Pretty sure that Paladins don’t even need a God in pathfinder, and the alignment for cod restrictions is just PFS
Leothar |
The GM wrote here "In Golorian paladins have to be within one step of their god." So that is what he is going with.
I would read the Recruitment thread for past rulings, and run all of your ideas by the GM.
He has allowed non-Core feats and options on a limited basis but expressed hesitancy about Dex-to-damage.
Your option to gain Darkvision as a human is also non-Core, so I would run that by him too. (Probably not a big deal but it is his call.)
Ghorza Thursisdottir |
Ok...will talk to GM now. Hopefully will get something approved soon and will get started.
Ardriel Zinro |
Welcome!
We do have detect magic - that's my job as the Archmage. It's only 1/day right now, but I have plans to make that better as I level up.
Dadna Cloudbreaker |
Spoke to the GM. After some conversation it was determined that Dadna will fit best. Working through some lingering questions on feats and the like. Wanted to thank everyone for their time and apologize for all of the back and forth.
DM Trawets |

They will still need to be deciphered before you can use them. If you have picked up anything please mark it on your character sheet and let everyone know it is gone from the list.
Does anyone want to take over the loot list?
Fley Flaxon |
Thank you Ardriel. I'll try to keep it updated as well. Things Fley would like from the list: potion of Invisibility and scroll of Comprehend Languages.
Also, welcome Dadna! Excited to see her in action.
Leothar |
Fley has the Breadth of Experience feat to make that Knowledge check untrained at a +5 (+2 feat, +3 Int). It's a nice feat.
Donnen Phelps |
Hey guys! Got a bit of a rough couple days at work. Sorry for the lack of posting - it'll normalize by Monday. @GM, please feel free to bot me until then. Thanks guys and I'll be back soon :)
Donnen Phelps |
Hi team! I will be travelling for the upcoming days for work (yes, irk! In Covid times!) and should be back by Friday. I'll try to keep an eye here and update as possible, but don't let me hold the action if I slow down a little bit. Cheers!
Dadna Cloudbreaker |
That’s scary! Wish you the best
Leothar |
Best wishes to you and your family, Trawets.
(Also chiming in with Leothar are Benedict the Clever, GM Zelligar, and GM Aldizog.)
Fley Flaxon |
Hope everything is okay. Take time with your son! Family should come first. Let us know if you need anything.
Ian Passeri |
trawets71, sorry if we should have talked about this in game before we entered, but not sure where to go from here.
Is everyone ok with Ian telling them they are prisoners of war and to lay down their arms? Or do we want to go down stairs and capture (or kill) that person first?
Leothar |
I generally prefer keep OOC strategizing to a minimum in situations like this, unless we have Telepathic Bond. It can lend some versimilitude for the PCs to not be perfectly coordinated.
Leothar will back Ian up on whatever Ian decides. I trust your judgment.
We didn't know the kind of reception we would get.
Dadna Cloudbreaker |
I’m alright with strategizing ooc if it is something we would have discussed IC anyways. I think a good middle point is saying that we need to report to the boss, heading down there and ganking them right away.
Ian Passeri |
I was ninja'd by Dadna so deleted the previous post

So we would just head to the basement and deal with them first... So we may expect these four to come up from the rear?
So four of us had posted after the door was opened and only Ian had placed on the map, so I wasn't sure what to do.
I have to take some stuff to my daughters house, I will be back in a couple hours and see if there are any more voiced opinions. Unless someone else posts something different I will post that Ian is headed down stairs.
Ian Passeri |
I'm going to have to retcon Faxon a bit as that was Bestow Curse. I apologize for not looking at the spell closer. I don't like using what they said to use first for him which is blindness/deafness. When I get a chance to look over his other options I'll post.
I'm sure there's a spell called "shoots self in foot" he could use... or maybe it was "self-immolation" I'm thinking of...those technical magical terms always confuse me...
Dadna Cloudbreaker |
Pretty sure he casts Prestidigitation...
Donnen Phelps |
I believe he’s thinking of Arcane Mark.
Leothar |
If it's Bestow Curse and he lands the touch, I will deal with it. Rely on Aid Another to help others hit until the curse is lifted. At 10 Str, Leothar would not do much on offense, but he could still block, obstruct, flank, Aid, heal, and soon enough cast.
Ian Passeri |
hhhmmmm, Trying not to talk to much tactics OOC, but you may want to go to the bottom of the stairs and take full defense, keep the cultists on the steps. Until we deal with the BBEG
Ian Passeri |
I will do what I think best here, and we can discuss IC afterwards.
Sorry, I was just thinking out loud. I will try and keep the recommendations to IC
Leothar |
I think Leothar with his 10 Int is probably not as smart as I am, so there is less rationale for OOC advice.
All I meant to convey to the GM is that I as a player will not ragequit if I am stuck with a "permanent" (until removed) -6 Str. There are still things that I can have Leothar do. We're not exactly lacking in frontliners.

aahhhh
DM Trawets |
It wasn't the bestow curse I was worried about so much as the blindness. His first round is supposed to be to cast blindness on any obvious healer. Second is Bestow Curse. I just didn't realize it was a touch and was trying to place him in the best defensive position as he has many melee types to deal with and he is a caster. I think for a second level spell, blindness is awful powerful. That's pretty much a you get to sit out of everything until you get it removed kinda spell.
I've got a melting down little boy. I'll try to get this done later tonight.
Leothar |
The trick to Blindness is that it is Dismissable.
So if the party defeats him, they can force him to dismiss the Blindness in exchange for his life (and conversely, Blinding someone is an insurance policy for him).
Dadna Cloudbreaker |
I keep taking -4 to hit penalty due to cover. For reach weapons, does anyone know of a feat which would negate that penalty?
Leothar |
Phalanx Formation should do the trick.
Dadna Cloudbreaker |
Perfect! Thank you. :)
DM Trawets |
Phalanx is not core though. There may be path abilities though I don't know as I haven't looked.
I was going to wait until after this fight but I'll bring it up now as this fight isn't going to challenge you. I expected Faxon to last more than 1 round. I've got a question for the group: How are you going to handle swarms? It might also help if there are any other tactics you need to discuss; ie a troll's regeneration. I don't think it's pertinent until the next book but it's time to start thinking about these things if you haven't already.
Leothar |
So, again with a non-Core feat (sorry, I forgot about that aspect) - Rat Catcher lets martials deal with swarms. It is so infrequently needed that it is often better to take Barroom Brawler (another non-Core feat) and pick up Rat Catcher when needed.
Otherwise, flasks of acid, alchemists' fire, and possibly holy water depending on the swarm. Some of us may get some area-damage spells from archetypes, Mythic, or Unsanctioned Knowledge.
Ian Passeri |
I figured I'd deal with swarms by outrunning the dwarves...
Actually thought about a lot of that stuff, thanks for bringing it up DM.
Fley Flaxon |
Fley does have two alchemist fires I believe. If I have some free time later today, I'll try to update the loot sheet to see what else we have.
Donnen Phelps |
Ardriel Zinro |
I think some combination of Swarmbane Clasp and alchemical items. I'll eventually be able to use scrolls of AoE spells and such that might be helpful, but that will take a Mythic tier or 2.
