Hmmmm...
Uoralveren will drop his spear and draw his shortbow.
Shortbow Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Shortbow Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
And his arrow goes wide. What exactly was he aiming at?

Seeing a foe that equals him in size, the troglodyte tries to cut Jomal down. But this time, Jomal ducks under the blow!
Total defense came in handy there!
Touch attack vs Jomal (total defense): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
I know this has been a long, tough battle, but don't give up guys--a single good thwack could take this trog down!

Having seen his last attack fizzle out just before it would have reached his target, Gareleth lets out an, "Oh bother!" and tries to climb down a little closer to get in range. Apparently I'd miscalculated last round!
Climb Check to Move at Quarter Speed: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (11) + 0 = 11
And then the Half-Orc unleashes an arcane blast at the Trog hoping it will save his friend Jomal.
Ray of Frost: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 171d3 ⇒ 1

Jomal looks at the troglodyte; the Nagaji is stern, focused, and absolutely terrifying. Silent, the monk swings the weapon in the air and attacks the creature, conscious that now he's much more unprotected than before.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 5 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 5 - 1 + 1 = 21 PA, Song
Damage: 1d10 + 7 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 3 = 12
Attack 2: 1d20 + 5 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 5 - 1 + 1 = 19 PA, Song
Damage: 1d10 + 7 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 7 + 3 = 14

"It's okay, everyone," Gareleth calls out, "Jomal and I have vanquished the beast!" Granted, anyone watching knew it was probably the 26 points of damage Jomal did more than the 1 point Gareleth dealt, but he still considers it a team effort. :=)

And before the party wraps up and leaves the tower, Gareleth is going to fashion a leash from his rope and use trail rations as motivation to take his pet lizard back with him. It is now canon, Gareleth has a pet lizard "he saved" from a band of Troglodytes.

Good job, team. - says Jomal in his usual few words, as the monk taps the dead troglodyte for any useful stuff. He isn't really sure how he's alive at all, and thanks Balendar for the scroll save.

The Magi finds the bard. "Some of the others are down. Maybe after you heal them, you can tell me more about The Pathfinders. I've been looking for an introduction. "
And apparently lots and lots of training, lol.

After some climbing and some patience for the wand to do its work, Gareleth has Tuck and Andrelis back to consciousness.
"Andy, you should have seen it! You fell in battle so I was like, 'I'll avenge you!' and then I did! Jomal helped."
Super fun adventure and it was a delight playing in this well-run game with wonderfully well-played characters!

Once everyone regains consciousness and the long walk back to Absalom proper begins, Balenar regales the group with stories of his adventures as a Pathfinder--and a promise not to go exploring on his own again! "Indeed, let me show you around the Grand Lodge. As far as I'm concerned, you've all earned the right to join the Society, and you can count on me to sponsor your membership applications."
And with the defeat of the troglodytes, the Fallen Fortress stands abandoned once again . . .
And that's a wrap! Please feel free to do any last role-playing you'd like, and then head over to the Discussion thread.

Laughing at Gareleth's narrative, Andrelis grins, Thanks Gareleth, Jomal, and everyone. I'm not sure what would have happened without you, I'm definitely not fighting off a rope anytime soon.
To Balenar, Thanks Balenar, I'm excited to get started with them more/
