Some general notes:
* Please make sure you have a good tagline with character stats. This saves me a lot of time while GMing and makes the game go by faster for everyone. If you're new to PbP and need help figuring out how to format things, just post here and we'll help you. Similarly, keep your tagline updated if you're casting buffs, have ongoing conditions, take damage, etc.
* If you have a really strange or complex build and want to explain anything in advance, please feel free to use this thread. f you want to earn extra GM love, posting a full character sheet in your profile is great. That way I can look stuff up and answer my own "how did they do that?" questions.
* I try to post at least once every day, and it would be good if you aim for the same thing. Real life comes up, of course, so if you need me to bot you, give me instructions or I'll play your character very conservatively (probably doing Total Defense).
* You'll need a picture of your character for the grid scenes.
* Feel free to post actions in the alternative to speed up gameplay. For example, "I search for traps--if there aren't any, I open the door, but if there are, I try to disable them."
Finally, role-playing is good! Please give your PC some personality and engage with the other PCs and NPCs. I'll gently move us along if we're dwelling too much in one part of the scenario.
Any questions, ask away!

Just to address some of the strange/complex stuff:
*Garaleth has a dancing scarf, so he gets a +2 enhancement to his AC if he moves 10' or more and it lasts until the next round
* He has a spring-loaded wrist sheath for his wand of infernal healing, so it can be drawn as a swift action
* He has the draconic infusion trait, so once a day, he can cast a spell with the cold descriptor and add 1d4 of cold damage to it (technically that's once per day per 2 caster levels with a minimum of 1, for anyone interested in the trait, but it's just 1/day at this level)
*He uses a scorpion whip, and those are weird. He is proficient with both the scorpion whip (as kensai gain proficiency with1 martial or exotic weapon) and he is proficient with standard whips from being a city raised Orc, therefore, he can use the scorpion whip as a whip including the 15' reach (though he only threatens AoO's within 10' of that)
*He has the heirloom weapon trait and gets a +2 to trip attempts with his scorpion whip (which he keeps in a locked gauntlet so it's +10 versus disarm)
...and I think that's it for the less common features you'll run into with him.

Anyone who has been accepted into the game can now head over to the Gameplay thread (a tab at the top of your screen), read the starting text, and put in a post to introduce your character to the others. For example, you might say something like:
-------------
A chubby halfling puffs furiously on his pipe as he comes over to the group. "Hi everyone, name's BilFro. Can't wait to go on this quest to the tower. Maybe I'll find a magic ring!"
------------
Really, anything that describes your PC and starts some interaction with the others.

That character intro for BilFro was amazing!
So, are we going with the narrative that we're in a tavern planning this exploration or are we going with the PFS concept that we're being sent by a Venture Captain? Just want to make sure we're all on the same page for the role playing.
GM Jhaeman
I intentionally kept it open-ended--some of you may already be members of the Pathfinder Society, while others may just be "adventurers" who haven't formally joined. There are some spoilerly, complicated reasons for this. There won't be a formal "briefing", so once everyone is in the game and the group is ready to go, you can head out.

Hey guys!
So currently doing some shopping for Uoralveren. He's a Twilight Speaker Skald. What do you guys recommend? Archer or finesse build? Maybe a big two handed weapon (though his strength isn't all that great).

A dex-based switch hitter sounds like it hits both angles you're looking at. Maybe carry a bow or something while we're exploring, then drop it and enter the fray with (insert finesse-able weapon here)?

Sounds good. What feats would be good to take for a switch hitter? Weapon Finesse I assume.
Weapon finesse would be great for first level. You'll eventually want point-blank shot and precise shot if you plan to be doing a decent amount of archery, particularly if it includes firing into a fray, but if you're just wanting to be able to hit things that aren't in melee yet and then just jump into the melee, I'd start with weapon finesse.

Everyone should now see a highlighted link on the top left of your screen that says "Maps & Handouts" (it's just above the "Campaign Info" thread tab). If you click this, it will take you to a Google Slides page for the game. This is where I'll put handouts. In addition, this is how we keep track of where everyone is during a combat encounter. When an encounter starts, I'll place a gridded map on the slide and all of your tokens. I'll also put tokens for the enemies, each with a different coloured border. Anyone can move anything around on these slides (it's set to be open to editing by anyone with the link). If you end up accidentally moving something around you didn't intend, just press the "undo" arrow until things appear the way they did before.

I am very sorry to say but I've had an emergency come up and I may be largely out of contact for the next 3 to 4 days.
Had a major water leak in a back country ski lodge I'm a member of and we need to walk repair supplies, new mattresses, and more into the lodge. Which is about an hours walk up into the mountains. I don't know how much we'll have to go back down to town or how much reception there will be. No laptop, thats for sure.
I'm really sorry everyone.
I haven't been doing PbP for very long so I don't really know the usual protocol here...
GM Jhaeman
No need to worry about the game. I'll "bot" you as much as necessary (it seems like Tuck likes to grapple, and I can do that for you should combat take place). If there's no combat, we'll just imagine Tuck is having some deep thoughts in the background. Real life always comes first, so please do whatever you need and come back when you're able.

We are getting to the pointy end of the stick. Over the next few days, would each of you please double-check your check-in details in the Recruitment thread, let me know if there were any purchases to be reflected on Chronicles, roll Day Job checks (or Faction goals), remind me if there are any conditions that need to be cleared, and make sure all used consumables are marked off? Thanks!

Okay so I'm brand new to PFS, maybe you can all help me understand what those things are?
Pathfinder Society Number: 2387887-1
expendables: I used 1 arrow, is that what you mean, or more of wands, potions, scrolls, etc.

Sure, happy to help.
At the end of every session, I have to fill out a Chronicle sheet for every player. Chronicles are where you receive the reward for completing a scenario--more gold, XP, Prestige Points, Fame, and sometimes special boons. Keep your Chronicles in numerical order, as they're both proof that you've completed a scenario and the way in which you track your character's journey.
When I fill out the Chronicle, I begin with the information from each player's starting post in the Recruitment thread (which you've already done).
I also have to add in what are called "Day Job" checks. Each player can (but doesn't have to) roll a Profession, Craft, or Perform skill check. Depending on the result, they earn a little extra gp on the Chronicle. This reflects their character's activities "between" scenarios. In addition to (or sometimes instead of), some players have "faction journal cards" which give them other things they can do with their PC's "downtime."
Some characters have other things that need to be recorded on a Chronicle--such as how much they spent to remove an ongoing detrimental condition (ability drain, petrification, or even death). This is called "clearing conditions." You shouldn't have to worry about that in this scenario unless things *really* take a turn for the worse!
And last, I just remind all the players to update their own encumbrance/inventory tracking sheets to reflect the use of consumables: wand charges, ammunition, potions, etc. I don't track that on Chronicles, but it's each player's responsibility to ensure they've accounted for what they've used up in each session.
Hope that all makes sense, but just let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for the great game, everyone--that was an exciting ending (and Jomal, I'm *really* glad you made that last stabilization check!). I liked your characters and the role-playing you all brought even in the midst of combat encounters.
This weekend, I'll report the session and fill out the Chronicles (and post a link in this thread when they're ready for download). If there's anything you need me to add to them that you haven't already posted in this thread or the Recruitment thread, now's the time to speak up.
GM Jhaeman
Okay, reporting has been done and Chronicles are available here (except for Uoralveren--I sent you a PM for 1 bit of missing info).

Excellent game, and I'll be keeping an eye on the recruitment for whatever you plan to run next :=)
