Iovia moves to trap the a (green) skrit between herself and Ikto.

She then calls Fire from her hands and lights up the area that the skrit stands in, and hopefully the skrit itself!

Action 2 and 3: Use my focus point on Fire Ray. I think I also get the off-guard benefit since it has Attack and I'm in melee range, but I'm not sure.

Iovia steps carefully around the greasy spots on the floor and then uses one of her focus spells to send a beam of fire at Green Scrit. The spell immolates the small gremlin, not enough to kill it, but its seriously hurt.

Orange Scrit casts its grease spell at the feet of M'Baba, filling the space around the rogue with slippery puddles. M'Baba is able to keep his feet, but the scrit follows with an attack with its smeary finger. the attack scores a hit, and M'Baba is hurt a bit more.

Red Scrit steps away from Iovia towards Za Minyahil attacking the ghoran, but its attack misses.

Ikto keeps his shield high, and touches the nearest scrit, bursting that one into even more flame. Ikto is not really sad when the target burns to death in front of him.

ZM and M'baba are now up. I will run ZM tomorrow night if no update.

Confronted by 2 foes, ZM steps back and then casts a spell that arcs electrical energy between both. The blast hits fully on Red Scrit, but has no effect on the large insect. ''

I just noticed that second one was a critical fail, so the damage to Red is double. And it is at 16hp dmg, near to dying.

Crits for 4 damage! And there's more where that came from!

Once more reaching out with her new arcane spells, Iovia tosses another book targeting the nearly slain skrit.

Iovia hurls another book at the Red Scrit and impact is enough to kill that gremlin which was teetering on the edge of death before.

Orange Scrit has seen enough of fighting after seeing all its companions fall, and it runs into the room on the south, where the silverfish seemed to come from.

Ikto, ZM, and M'Baba are all up in round 9. Just the Silverfish left. You can pursue the Orang Scrit if you want to, it does run near to ZM, though not in a threatened square.

M'baba, angry at these scrits, walks and brings water down the one scuttling away.

Seeing the last skrit flee, Ikto declares "They always have one get away, if he's warning allies we could get into a bigger fight."

Unfortunately he can't get to the fellow or even get a straight shot, so he settles for moving up a bit closer and firing another bolt of flame, this time without touch, at the remaining Silverfish!

Za Minyahil sneers a bit as the gremlin flees. They were starting to become very...very bitter towards the cruel, cowardly creatures. Nevertheless, there were other foes to deal with now. They turn and step towards the silverfish, stab at it with their sword and lift up their shield to defend from its retaliatory bites.

M'Baba unleashes a torrent of water at the fleeing scrit but the small gremlin just gets behind a bookcase before the blast, and only soaks some books with no damage.

Ikto chooses fire again, this time targeting the remaining silverfish. Whatever the reason, this time the fiery spell is hotter and brighter and the last foe crackles and burns inside its exoskeleton.

Ikto makes sure his fire won't burn the library now that the job is done, "That was grueling," He admits, but smiles, "At least we won."

M'baba sits on the floor, tired. He says "What a mess. These creatures should know better than to pick a fight in a library. We may have ruined some texts with our spells. By the way, see if we find a book that tells us how to get rid of a scrit infestation."

He is a bit hurt and says "We should take 10 and look at our wounds."

While M'baba spends 10 minutes treating his wounds, I'm getting back the first of my two focus points. If I do more, it'll depend on whether we have more than 10 minutes.

Za Minyahil nods to Iovia and allows the others to examine them while they recenter themselves too.

The team takes 10 minutes to restore, rest and meditate after the grueling combat. M'Baba finds some healing, and Za Minyahil and Iovia regain lost focus for more spell power. Poor Ikto is just to hurt to concentrate enough to make his healing ministrations have any effect.

Recall that using Treat Wounds, successful or not, makes you immune to that effect for an hour, even if from a different PC

M'baba says "Let's spend some time here searching these shelves. Maybe we find more useful things and we can take some time to recover."

We can continue on searching here with secret checks to pass the time until we can treat wounds again.

The group of initiates spends the better part of an hour searching the main room of the stump library, but after all the searching they do not find any of the books in the list presented by Teacher Ot.

Let's assume you have searched all the shelves in that time. You may try Treat Wounds again if you wish.

If we have a full hour, I'll refocus for my second point, and then to a Treat Wounds on me, and if no one else has by then, also on ZM.

Za Minyahil releases a string of curses as their efforts searching the main room fail to locate the needed books.

"Those wretched gremlins must have them!" they say. "That would be JUST our luck!"

"I know this school is about high ideals, but I feel a great deal of wrath for gremlins. Why are they at war with this school? They were hostile before we came here it seems."

After treating himself, M'baba just says "Well, let's move forward. These gremlins won't kill themselves. Well, not as far as I know."

We also do not know if the school itself is responsible for the gremlins' ire, or if these gremlins have any relationship with the ones we have fought before. It can be very dangerous to assume motivations without information. From their perspective, we may be seen as invaders who attacked their pets, as the insects did not attack any of the gremlins." Iovia points out.

"In any case, we do have seven more rooms to search for the books, and as Mr. M'baba suggested, we should get back to that."

My suggestion would be to start at either the NE or NW most door opening on the map and going in a semi-circle from there. I think that could be the easiest way to remember which order we've done things in.

Za Minyahil is visibly fuming at Iovia's words, but nods.

"You are a better student of the Magaambya than I, Iovia. You sounded almost like Teacher Ot a bit there."

It takes several more minutes, but the group restores most of their healing, Ikto excepted, and also restores their focus spells in full. Then they debate on where to search for the Master's book list next.

Just need two to agree on the next direction.

"North East I think. No reason mind you." He says, "And yes, Iovia, you make a good point."

M'baba doesn't comment on Iovia's remarks. He just wants to get this done already. He still doesn't realize he is just making an effort to meet more gremlins faster.

Having healed and regained their composure, Za Minyahil begins approaching the north-east and peeks around the corner into the chamber.

The room on the northeast side of the main library seems to have once been a staging area for someone who was trying to organize the books in this space. Several tomes sit open on one desk with notes next to them, atop scrolls with long lists. The other two desks precariously hold up several stacks of books and closed boxes. More boxes overflowing with books sit on the floor nearby as if waiting ot be sorted.

M'baba says "Well, better get to work then." It's obvious to him that the group has to go through the stacks of books to check them. He starts looking at the lists and comparing them to their respective books.

To be clear, are you looking at the piles of books or the scroll with a list on it, or, if both, which one first?

Both, in the sense that he looks at the list and checks whether the mentioned book is in the pile.

Reading slowly and carefully through the transcribed list, M'Baba finds one of the books requested by Teacher Ot on the list. A tome titled The Worlds Between Worlds is on the list, but the writing indicates that 5 of its 6 volumes have been relocated to the southeast room of the library.

Ironically, as the rogue is reading the titles of the pile of books, he doesn't see the one listed, but he does find that one of the boxes stuffed is really a chest covered in tiny penmanship. It appears to be The Collected Field Notes of the Druid Mata Digemari, one of the requested items.

M'baba shows the others what he found. Then he says "We should make sure the collection is in this box. I really don't want to find another scrit in here." He tells the others to get ready in case something happens, then he taps a few times on the box's side. If he can't hear anything, he opens it.

Iovia helps M'baba search the room for the books and is nearby when he opens the box.

"Sensing magic might help too if anyone can." Ikto readies in case something comes out of the box.

It seems only log books are in the crate, and they seem to be the correct contents based on the title.
