| GM Jhaeman |
Andrelis rushes down the stairs as Gareleth pulls out a rope and secures it to a nearby piece of heavy debris. Balendar shouts "You guys take care of the trog--I'll try to get to our wounded!" With that, the Pathfinder pulls a red scroll from his belt, reads it, and turns invisible!
Andrelis, I've placed you on Level 2 (Slide 4) next to The Magi. Gareleth, I'd have to rule that it's one move action to get the rope and another to secure it to something. You can start climbing down next turn.
Uoralveren
|
Can Uoralveren climb down the rope? If so, he'll do that.
He continues singing his song - deep elven battle trance.
| GM Jhaeman |
Uoralveren rushes over to the edge and starts climbing down the rope.
Uoralveren, it'll take you one move action to get to the rope, and then you'll be able to move 5' down (1/4) of your speed with a DC 5 Climb check, or 10' down (1/2 of your speed) if you make the same DC with a -5 penalty on the check.
Uoralveren
|
Climb: 1d20 + 2 - 3 ⇒ (4) + 2 - 3 = 3
Uoralveren scuttles down the rope, but somehow tangles up his hands.
The Magi
|
Magi throws open the door on the second floor landing , then the door immediately to his left. He races across that room, and heads outside to the ledge they originally scaled.
I figure that's a double move. I am on the ledge overlooking the Troglodyte BBEG.
Manik "Tuck" O'Leary
|
Tuck spends the round leaking slightly his personal pool of blood
Andrelis Lethian
|
Andrelis will continue to run down the stairs, following the Magi step for step, upon reaching the edge he'll stop, watching the troglodyte cast elaborate spells.
Gareleth Jarvinx
|
Gareleth, being a spellcaster, easily recognizes that the Troglodyte has started casting something, and of course, all spellcasters know the dangers of having their sppellcasting interupted. "I hope this work," the Half-Orc mutters, and he casts a spell my final 1st level spell for the day.
Magic Missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Fingers crossed that the Trog fails his concentration check!
And after casting, Gareleth begins climbing down the rope.
Climb Check at 1/4 Movement: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5
| GM Jhaeman |
As Andrelis joins The Magi at the edge of the second floor, Gareleth flings a magic sphere of force at the troglodyte. Undeterred, the reptilian threat continues intoning words of magical power! Gareleth starts climbing down the rope, holding on tight as an invisible ally climbs down over him!
The trog has to roll a DC 14 Concentration check. Unfortunately, it succeeded. Gareleth, you are now 5' down the rope. Balandar is going to try an "accelerated climb" (-5 to his climb check) to climb down the rope at half-speed with both move actions. He succeeds, and effectively gets close enough to the ground that he can drop the rest of the way safely as a free action).
Concentration Check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Climb check (accelerated): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Uoralveren
|
Uoralveren, realizing the rope may not be his strong suit, will start mumbling some elven words and moving his hands a bit. He's starts to feel a bit speedier than normal and will run down the stairs.
Cast Expeditious Retreat and move 60 ft down the stairs. How far down the stairs can he move?
The Magi
|
Once again, flame burst forth from The Magi's hands. He sends both streaking toward the troglodyte caster.
Mystic Bolt: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Mystic Bolt: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 3 + 1 = 13
Mystic Bolt GM Re-Roll: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 2 + 1 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
| GM Jhaeman |
The troglodyte chieftain finishes his dark incantations, and hundreds of spiders suddenly appear on the edge of the tower all around The Magi! The troglodyte then conjures a ball of fire in his hand.
The trog's full round spell completes (summon swarm--spiders). He then casts produce flame so he now has a flame blade in one hand a ball of fire in the other hand.
The Magi, you take 3 points of damage from the spider swarm. In addition, you need to make a DC 11 Fortitude save (vs poison) or take 2 points of Strength damage. Last, you need to make a separate DC 11 Fortitude save or become nauseated for 1 round. Spellcasting or concentrating on spells within the area of a swarm requires a caster level check of DC 20+spell level. Using skills that involve patience or concentration requires a DC 20 Will save.
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Strength Damage: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Gareleth Jarvinx
|
Gareleth tries to climb down a little closer to get in range for a ray of frost. He is hoping desperately that the bard they rescued is going to heal Jomal.
Climb: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5
Ray of Frost: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 71d3 ⇒ 3 versus touch AC
Uoralveren
|
Remember that everyone has +1 competence bonus on attack rolls and a +1 morale bonus on saving throws from Uoralveren's raging song
Andrelis Lethian
|
Ah! Spiders, you better get out of there! Seeing the spider swarm, Andrelis will take his chances on the ground with the spellcasting Troglodyte, and attempts to climb down to the ground
Climb: 1d20 ⇒ 3
| GM Jhaeman |
Gareleth continues slowly climbing down the rope, but his magical attack against the troglodyte flies harmlessly over the reptilian creature's head. Andrelis tries climbing down the side of the broken tower, but a piece of the masonry gives way and he falls hard!
Gareleth, you are now 10' down the rope. Andrelis, you failed the Climb check by more than 5 and fall for 6 points of damage, landing prone. That's one way to evade the swarm :) The Magi, you take the 2 points of strength damage but aren't nauseated.
Fall damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
| GM Jhaeman |
Still invisible, Balenar moves next to Jomal, unrolls a yellow scroll, and reads from it. Powerful healing magics flow into the nagaji, and he gasps as he awakens!
5' step, move action to draw scroll, standard action to read from it and cast cure moderate wounds
Jomal, you recover 17 points of damage (good thing you stabilized on your own, because Balenar would have been a round too late!) You're still prone but can take an action next round.
heal: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (8, 6) + 3 = 17
Uoralveren
|
Can I see Trasskar from where I'm standing? If so, will cast a spell on him
The elf continues his song (+1 morale to attack/+1 to saves). But in his song, deep magic forms and disforms. The troglodyte starts hearing a beating in his ears. The sound gets louder and louder until it nearly rips his eardrums in half.
Cast Ear Piercing Scream. Takes sonic damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3) and may be dazed. Troglodyte gets Fortitude Save (DC=13)
The Magi
|
The vigilante steps well clear of the swarm, the blasts it with a cone of flame.
Casting Burning Hands. Should do extra damage to a swarm.
AoE Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
On my phone, can someone please move me 15' away from the swarm please.
| GM Jhaeman |
The troglodyte shows mild discomfort from Uoralveren's sonic attack, but the swarm of spiders fares far worse from The Magi's blast of fire!
The trog saved from ear piercing scream, but the swarm took full damage + 50% from the burning hands. Both dangers are still active, however.
Fort Save: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Reflex Save (swarm): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
| GM Jhaeman |
The implacable spiders pursue The Magi into the adjoining room and swarm over him once again! At the base of the tower, the troglodyte has a new target: Andrelis! It roars with victory in a strange language as its fiery blade cuts into the Pathfinder.
The Magi, you take 2 points of damage. In addition, you need to make a DC 11 Fortitude save (vs poison) or take 1 point of Strength damage. Last, you need to make a separate DC 11 Fortitude save or become nauseated for 1 round.
Tasskar isn't concentrating on the swarm, so it will only exist for this turn and one more.
Tasskar does a move action and an attack with the flame blade against Andrelis' prone AC.
Andrelis, you take 5 points of fire damage--combined with the falling damage, you are now at -2
Swarm bite: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Strength damage: 1d2 ⇒ 1
Flame blade vs Andrelis prone touch AC: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Flame blade damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Gareleth Jarvinx
|
"Andy!!" Gareleth calls out as he sees his best friend and long-time traveling companion fall. "I will avenge you!!" and the Half-Orc unleashes another magical assault at the Troglodyte...hoping for better results this time.
Ray of Frost: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 131d3 ⇒ 2
Let's hope the Trog has really low touch AC
And with that done, Gareleth begins climbing down towards his friend while calling out, "Bard guy!! Help my friend Andy!!"
Climbing at 1/4 Speed: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (13) + 0 = 13
Gareleth Jarvinx
|
If it makes a difference, I forgot to add in the skald bonus on my attack!
Jomal
|
Jomal assumes a fully defensive position, still shaking his head without much understanding how he's still alive. He then stands up, pulling his weapon back to his hands.
Standard action for total defense, move to stand up.
| GM Jhaeman |
Hanging onto the rope with one hand, Gareleth points a finger at the troglodyte and a freezing cold ray streaks in its direction. Unfortunately, the energy gives out before it can reach the target. As Jomal gets to his feet, the troglodyte roars and slashes at him with its blade of fire, but Jomal manages to dodge the attack.
Gareleth, you're still 40' off the ground, and the ray of frost only has a 25' range at your level. Climbing down another quarter of your speed, you are now 35' off the ground.
The trog is taking an AoO on Jomal and just hits. Jomal, you take 6 points of damage and are now Disabled at zero hit points exactly (staggered, and any standard action causes you to lose a hit point).
Touch attack vs Jomal prone total defense: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Jomal
|
@GM: a 17 misses me. I take -4 for being prone and get another +4. My AC is still 18 (I used monastic and it lasts 1 minute - 10 rounds) so I assume it misses, right?
The Magi
|
Fort vs DC 11: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Fort vs DC 11: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
The Magi dashes away again and expends the last of his arcane spells. Flames burst from his wide-spread fingers.
Casting Burning Hands
Burning Hands: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Uoralveren
|
Sing you fool!
One last round of Raging Song. Everyone gets +1 to attack/+1 to saves.
Uoralveren will rush over to the Troglodyte and swing his spear.
EBS Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
EBS Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Uoralveren

Ah, can I run down the stairs? I still have Expeditious Retreat on so should be able to move 60ft[/i]
