Recruitment Thread.

Please register your interest below. This will be First Come, First Served. I have 4 spots reserved for people from the Lodge Recruitment.

Please put your details below and we'll get going as soon as we can.

Dark Archive

Right here! Thanks for hosting.

Scarab Sages

I'm unreserved and (assuming you'll have me) not sure what sub-tier folks were hoping for or what everyone is playing, so for now I'll aim for the middle. Faeria is an illusionist, 1 XP away from 4th level. I have other characters that fit into either high or low tier, and other party rolls, as needed. Also, I want to note, that I have played this scenario previously in Standard Mode.

"Oh! Hello...."

Player Great Green God
Character Faeria, the Mad
PFS # 139009-39
Faction Scarab Sages
Day Job N/A (Being homeless and crazy pays as well as a career in education)

Grand Lodge

I'm an idiot. Eranahu is not core. I wasn't even paying attention to that, my apologise. I've only played a couple of pfs games now and am not up on the lingo I guess. I'm afraid you'll have to count Eranahu out of this one. I can make a core character, though, if you don't mind.

Liberty's Edge

I would love to get in on this game; thanks!

Player Zin Z'arin
Character Ahmande
PFS # 192785-4
Faction Liberty's Edge
Day Job Perform (oratory): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19 though I reserve the right to forego downtime to complete a faction goal, if none are completed in-game

Silver Crusade

Aw, did I not get a reserved slot?

Liberty's Edge

Note: I leave tomorrow for a weekend trip to NYC; I'll be out of contact from early Friday through late Monday, EST

Silver Crusade

Here's my info if there's room:

Player Name: SodiumTelluride
Character Name: Iladora Unfallen
PFS #: 89635-12
Faction: Silver Crusade
Day Job: Profession (soldier): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

Build Shenanigans: None; fairly straightforward sword-and-board ranger. Botting instructions are in Iladora's profile.

Ok, so far we have

Aktar
Faeria
Ahmande
Iladora

Sovereign Court

I'm interested for this game with this character :)

Liberty's Edge

if there's room I'd love to join in, I'll quickly throw together a core character.

Scarab Sages

That's a pretty broad spread of levels. Folks might want to consider group composition, and what subtier they want to play in first. I've got CORE characters suitable for both, so I'm flexible.

Grand Lodge

This is Joker 27

Looking at the composition it seems like a melee is needed so I made up a monk

Grand Lodge

Player Joker 27
Character Niall Sheehan
PFS # 36491-4
Faction Grand Lodge
Day Job Profession (sailor): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

Ok. I'll let this simmer until Monday then we can get group sorted and get started.

Aktar - human ranger 2
Faeria - human illusionist 3
Ahmande - elf bard 4
Iladora - human ranger 2
Tatiana - human cleric 1/rogue 3
Niall - human monk 1

That's an average party level of 3 (after rounding) which means the Challenge Ratings of the encounters is going to be in 3-6 or 7 range (sub-tier 4-5 with the 4 player adjustment). Are the people with lower level characters (basically all the "regular" fighter-types in the party) alright with that?

This seems to me to make for a pretty squishy party. Pardon my meta, but a CR 5 troll could 1 full attack action kill pretty much anyone with 3 "okay" attack rolls--and that's before rend.

No one in the current party seems to have more than 28 hp, and we only have 1 level of a standard healing class (and perhaps some bard) to go around--so there's that too.

Thoughts?

Dark Archive

I wouldn’t mind playing a tier below even if it meant less gold. I’d rather stay alive. Akter himself is not as much melee as he’s a switch, usually starting with the bow out. Still, he will eventually be targeted and who knows what would happen :)

Edit: we’re actually rounding to 2.5, rounding down to a 2.

Silver Crusade

Our APL is 2.67, which I'm pretty sure still puts us in low tier.

Scarab Sages

Okay, but:

Divide the total number of character levels by the number of characters in the party, rounding to the nearest whole number. If the result of the Average Party Level calculation ends with 0.5, the players should decide whether to round up or down.

And then...

A party of five to seven characters whose APL falls between two subtiers [like '3'] must play the higher tier with the four-character adjustments found throughout the scenario.

And finally, yeah, I glanced at everyone's page and that was a part of my point. I've played the 4th level sorcerer in the sub-tier 6-7 module against the CR 9-10 encounter, which is why I bring it up now.

It's not impossible, but it can be tough and the group will have to rely on sound tactics. In particular the 1st level monk and the 2nd level (undead-slaying) rangers who will have to stand in the way of the big hulking monsters most of the time--if there are any. It might all be Diplomacy and Stealth checks, but even that is going to have slightly higher DCs, and folks might have to aid one another. Anyhow it is tough to succeed without a sword and board wall of some kind, and a fair number of hit points to blunt a high CR foe's advance.

For my part, I don't have any problem playing that way, if we are going to play that way.

Silver Crusade

I kind of like playing up, to be honest, especially with martial characters-- the challenge is fun, you get more gold, and you have the HP to (probably) survive. Never done it in Core, but my Standard barbarian/ranger plays in higher subtiers all the time.

Grand Lodge

Looking at party comp I may switch characters to a different core if playing up because level 1 monk seems prime to die

Dark Archive

I am a cleric of the Pharasma, I have healing if we need it. This is my first game, so I don't know how I'll do.

Scarab Sages

Well, if all 7 of us play:

And Sconzbar - gnome cleric 1

That's an average party level of 2.42 or 2 (after rounding), which would be low sub-tier, but now we might have a problem going the other way.

This is a slightly more RP/Social leaning scenario so I am not as concerned about the tiering. I am happy to run with 7.

Scarab Sages

That's good because I have learned to hate 5'-wide dungeon corridors. ;)

Grand Lodge

I'll stick with monk then

Liberty's Edge

I have a few other PCs that I could bring to this, but since we're firmly in the low tier now, I think a bard will benefit us more (in a library) than any of the martial characters I could bring.

If he plays a drum set, we will always be able to find him. ;)

"You dig those cymbals? Inspiring, man, inspiring. This way, Daddy-O!"

Silver Crusade

Yea but if he plays a drum set, that could be a problem.

Scarab Sages

Yeah, but what about the guy with the piano?

Liberty's Edge

Don't worry, he's an orator; he carries no instruments.

The Exchange

1 person marked this as a favorite.

"Please, keep your voice down, sir. This is a library."
