Did a complete overhaul of Celister, but considering this is going to be the first time that I play him it doesn’t necessarily matter that he’s changed since his stats from the recruitment (actually used his wealth, changed his heritage, and messed around with his ability scores since I didn’t know the voluntary flaws were used in PFS until about half an hour ago).
Player Trey
Character Celister
PFS # 229573-2001
Boons Slotted Faction Horizon Hunters Champion Downtime Society Connections (1 use, can access a level 4 task when using Downtime to Earn Income)
School Items minor healing potion
Downtime Earn Income, 8 days, level 4 task (from Society Connections): Calistria Lore; DC 19: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
If I have a Hero Point at the end of the scenario, I’ll definitely use it to reroll that:
Earn Income Reroll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 Facepalm!
In either case it’s 1 sp per day for a total of 8 sp for that Earn Income.

Can't use fortune effects such as hero points on downtime actions.
What? *Checks AoN* Well would you look at that? Good to know. My bad!

Sylvia Dyspell |

I only know the answer because somebody went and found it after I was using hero points to reroll my downtime stuffs.link
As an interesting note it also means you can't use assurance for downtime.

I am here. I had to get the character information arranged so I can enter it on Paizo. I still don't have the fine details in the stat block in there, but I will get it done today, particularly memorized spells.
Xathos of Varisia running Xathos de Varisia 205984-2001
Horizon Hunters (no other boons slotted)
Spells 3 - Scrolls of Burning Hands and Magic Weapon
Pathfinder Agent with 8 days of DT: Crafting: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
I've ran it twice now for plots 3 and 4. Don't worry about me. I'll take a back seat for the session and step up when prompted or needed.

Valen's Pregen |

Player Lysle
Character Fumbus
PFS # 90900-2001
Boons Slotted Faction Envoy's Alliance Champion; Promotional Reroll
School Items As far as I can tell, pregens don't get them.
Downtime Earn Income, 8 days Cooking Lore: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

Valen's Pregen |

Running Basaru/Amulet both times, haven't read other statblocks beyond a glance.
Playing in one of those presently. And don't think we've even gotten far enough yet to identify those elements.

Sylvia Dyspell |

Sylvia's Spellbook: Air Bubble, Burning Hands, Grim Tendrils, Mage Armor, Magic Missile, Magic Weapon, Shocking Grasp, Ventriloquism
+ Scroll of Fear
Xanthos' Spellbook:Burning Hands, Color Spray, Hydraulic Push, Mage Armor, Magic Missile, Sleep, Summon Animal, Construct
Once we've got some time I'm going to work on learning spells, looks like for level 1 spells it takes an hour each time with a DC15 Arcana check. I think with +7/+8 the math makes sense to aid another.
I'll start with my aid rolls, then I'll make my rolls, I'll accept aid on each so we'll see if it matter for any of the rolls.
If you think my math for aids it wrong or otherwise don't want them, just ignore spoiler.
Air Bubble: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18 F
Grim Tendrils: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 S +1
Magic Weapon: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 CF -1
Shocking Grasp: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 S +1
Ventriloquism: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13 F
Fear: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13 F
Fear: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 Fail, can't change
Color Spray: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23 Success, a crit aid will chance to CS though
Hydraulic Push: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 S, a critfail aid will change to a F though.
Sleep: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 Crit Success, can't change.
Summon Animal: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 Success, aid can't change.
Summon Construct: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 Success, a critfail aid will change to a F though.
If you'd roll me aids for Color Spray, Hydraulic Push and Summon Construct, I'd appreciate it.

Valen's Pregen |

I'm not looking to derail the scenario or force other PCs to forego mounts. Just playing up Fumbus' goblin-ish-ness! If there are alternatives, like camels or axebeaks, then Fumbus will seek them out. Otherwise, he'll just swallow his racial prejudices for a few weeks.

![]() |

Oh, yeah. Sorry, I wasn't trying to be mean about it. I'm just trying to play this guy as the voice of reason!

I appreciate reason. Fumbus, however, does not!

![]() |

I'm totally down with it! Great roleplay! I'm always playing my Xathos character in any edition as a snooty, condescending, and tactless wizard with utter disdain for anything and everything non-magical. So let's have some fun!

![]() |

Xathos attempts to learn the following spells from Sylvia's spellbook while they are on the journey when time permits. He too will use Aid to attempt to assist Sylvia's attempts.
Air Bubble: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Grim Tendrils: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Magic Weapon: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Shocking Grasp: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Ventriloquism: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Aid on Color Spray: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Aid on Hydraulic Push: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Aid on Summon Construct: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13

Sylvia Dyspell |

Thanks, looks like no difference on any of the rolls from aids.
(Big thanks for not crit failing on either of my 15s)
For me that's
Learning Color Spray, Hydraulic Push, Sleep (CS), Summon Animal and Summon Construct, for 9gp total.
Xathos, there's still the fear scroll if you want to learn from that as well (Learning from scrolls doesn't expend them in PF2)
--
Looks like you missed out on magic weapon but it's not good much past level 1 anyway.
Which reminds me, I need to figure out a good way to notate spells I've failed to learn each level so I don't accidently try to learn again. (Although Sylvia will likely level to 2 after this scenario so it's only a problem for the future)

![]() |

Thanks for pointing that out on the scroll. I wasn't sure about that.
Fear: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Xathos learns Air Bubble, Fear, Grim Tendrils, Shocking Grasp, and Ventriloquism for a cost of 9 gp.
I would have it on the CS noting the failure at what level and I would also note what spells were successfully learned and the cost. I've always found that putting things on the CS resolved issues down the road for myself and my players in PFS1 and almost certainly will here in PFS2.

FYI, I’ll be testing a slight change to the way I normally run PbP combat initiative.
In order to facilitate PbP combat I try to arrange for two alternating groups in initiative. One being the players and one being the monsters/foes. I usually roll a single initiative for the monsters and individual initiatives for the players. Combat usually starts with some the the players going first followed by all the foes. The next cycle begins with all the player then all the foes and repeats until the Combat is over.
I’m going to make a small change how I generate the monsters’ initiative value. Rather then roll a single value, I’m going to try rolling individual initiatives for the monsters and then average them together to determine when they go.
Players who beat the monsters average initiative go first in the first round followed by the Foes. Second round starts with all players followed by the foes, and repeats.
Which ever way, the players actions are usually processed in the order they they post to the forms, unless they post that they are delaying after someone or some action.
Any questions or concerns?

![]() |

Seems fine with me. It doesn't seem as if it'll change much or in a bad way, unless there were a lot of foes with wildly different Perception. And even then, it makes things simpler than having to wait on individual players.

Sylvia Dyspell |

Something very minor to note about 2e is that delaying is no longer quite free. Delaying characters can't use reactions, mostly an issue with things like the Goblin Scuttle.
Generally minor enough not to be worth worrying about though.

![]() |

Celister, as a note Cale and the Red Raven show up together in a PFS scenario as well.
Oh, I’m aware, I just didn’t say that because, you know, spoilers.

Good to know. One detail I hadn’t noticed.
One addendum to the above initiative discussion. For large number of monsters 5+ I may break them up into more groups.

I decided to take a personal day and opted not to look at any of my PbPs; I’ll get a post up in a few hours once it’s morning for me.

![]() |

Sorry if I spout a lot of rules-lawyer-y stuff; I happen to recall a lot of stuff that could easily be overlooked and want to make sure everyone’s on the same page (and I know that my mind broke when I realized that sickened/frightened actually affects AC).

![]() |

So, today’s the U.S. holiday of Thanksgiving, so I make no promises that I’ll be getting around to posting for the majority of the day if at all.

![]() |

Let me know if there are any issues with the Chronicles.
Also, do you have any feedback on the Initiative system test (calculating average initiative for the foes and letting players roll their initiative on the first round.)
Or other feedback, you can PM me if you don't want to post in the discussion.
Thanks, I've had a great time GMing for your group!
