Ah, I understand but I have a rule about not appropriating someone else's character without direct permission, so we'll leave her past party members out of it. Kesten will continue to escort her now you're back up to 6, and since Varn has Medvyed ties, Gird would be a good option to narrate along with her.

Sorry to report but my laptop has crashed. Trying to troubleshoot but my coverage has expired so if I can't fix the problem, it may take some time before I'm up and running again. I will keep you posted.

Albert Malek Garess |

I was worried that something may have happened. Hopefully it only turns out to be a minor inconvenience. It's always a nuisance to deal with transferring to a new laptop, but even worse when it's unexpected.

Veronica Ferra |

That's painful! Good luck with the repairs!

Saoirse Oparaeal |

Sorry to hear that, that's definitely a hassle. Good luck, and hope you don't lose anything important in the trasfer.

bluedove |

Looks like it's my hard drive. *sigh* Still looking into it. We'll try to limp along in the interim. Good that we're on talking points, I hate doing combat posts on phone.

Sir Andreas Eisfalke Von Ulm |

I agree with all that we have planned.
I think we need to deal with Grigori directly. He knows we are here and looking into him. Us following him will be mute. That being said having a second group looking into him secretly...may be beneficial.

Saoirse Oparaeal |

I thinbk a mix of both direct and indirect are needed. What would be the process to try to, over the course of a few days at least, establish a bit of a spy network of the kids in the settlement.
Befriending them, with treats, stories, songs, to the point where they tend to tell me the things that kids pick up because adults tend not to notice them the way they do other adults.

Saoirse Oparaeal |

@ bluedove any response to my question. Might better define the next course of action.

Yes, you are the spymaster, that is certainly within your purview. There aren't any limitations on you. Much like Andreas narrated himself knowing the townspeople by name, you could narrate your way through it. Mechanically, it would still work much like a Gather Info roll.
Tig can be a potential direct source of information as he and his mother are supposed to have talked with Grigori.
Also, I am up and running again! Huzzah. Though my next day off at this point is Tuesday... >.< So you'll have a little time to prepare before I advance the event.

Albert Malek Garess |

Next week is finals and graduation, so I'm pretty busy. Will post when able.

Saoirse Oparaeal |

Will have a detailed post with skill rolls later this evening.

Before I forget, when we go see about this will-o-wisp (I assume it is due to the comments about lightning attacks and vulnerability to magic missile), an excellent cleric spell is Spiritual Weapon. It deals force damage as well.

Albert Malek Garess |

That was a rough week for me, but thankfully it is over now.

bluedove |

The hydra was a random encounter, though I suppose if you want to find it again, I should allow it. You are also welcome to consider that it was "passing through" at the time, if you prefer.
So is your assumption that you have the support of the Dragonscale Throne based solely on the fact that you have a royal seal on your original Charter? I don't want to rewrite your history in case a former GM wrote something into your official canon.

Rillka Cloudhopper |

I thought we had received a formal charter to settle the lands on behalf of the Dragon Throne after the Stag Lords defeat- but was unable to find the specific post in my initial review of the gameplay thread. I believe what Andreas spoke was true and accurate, but have nothing more than an “I seem to remember… “ to validate that.

Veronica Ferra |

The default KM setup assumes that you receive a charter from the Swordlords on behalf of Regent Surtova. The actual text of the charter appears on p. 6 of Rivers Run Red:
"Be it so known that the bearers of this charter, having delivered the northern reaches of the Greenbelt from the scourge of banditry, having provided detailed maps of the lay of the land, and having done no small amount of work in the exploration of said land and the culling of hostile monsters and indigenous hazards, are hereby granted the right to rule. The nature and laws of rule are theirs to define, and the wellbeing of this new nation is theirs to protect. In accordance for providing a stable nation to the south of central Rostland, let there be a generous stipend of funds, support, and advice provided to this fledgling nation as a token of Restov and Brevoy’s goodwill, such that future relations between kingdoms might be mutually beneficial. So witnessed under the watchful eye of the Lordship of Restov and by the authority granted by Lord Noleski Surtova, current Regent of the Dragonscale Throne."
(I do not know if this group is running differently.)

bluedove |

I have looked for it and I don't think they ever received anything beyond the initial charter in the first book: Stolen Lands. No ceremony granting noble titles, no acknowledgement that the opening 50 BP is technically a loan to get the community on it's feet. No direct communication with the Swordlords or the Surtova's since the very beginning unless I have missed it. Not even that second charter that you quoted. It seems to have all been glossed over and never stated explicitly.
Again, I'm in favor of maintaining the status quo. I don't want to undo anything that is established but it doesn't seem like anything was. (Established, that is...)
And while we're trying to figure that out, I'd prefer we not C&P from the adventure path. I get that you expected it would have been covered, but since it wasn't that's a bit like a spoiler.

Roger that, if something comes up I will PM you.
Building a kingdom without that package is really hard mode. You have to claw your way up with no BP and just hope and pray that you don't get a major bad event that destroys the kingdom on a random roll.

Saoirse Oparaeal |

It's pretty odd that the all that stuff would have gotten skipped. It looks like somewhere in the transition through multiple GMS, someone must have assumed a certain things had already happened which didn't.

March 13 2022 in Discussion posts.
I should note that with the Stag Lord's defeat you have overcome the main terror in the region, but The Charter was to explore a specific area of land. Specifically, The Charter will be completed when all the area that is blacked out inside of the red box in the exploration map is fully explored.

We have never interreacted with any political situations between restov and brevoy.

I think they did begin with the 50 BP, it just wasn't identified as a start up loan. Maybe more implied that it was salvaged from the Stag Lord's fort?
The politics are really just set dressing, so it's not too surprising that it was glossed over. But it will figure in, at least nominally, when dealing with other baronies/nations. Grigori is the first of such events, but he won't be the last. I will try to sew in some intrigue here and there with a light hand so as not to overshadow your more relevant local story.
Consider if you want to head up your own noble houses. It seemed like Andreas is preparing for that by establishing a new name whereas Rillka seemed less inclined toward the practice. Albert may prefer to rise within house Garess. Others might rather not play into the game of houses, preferring a system that allows for more upward mobility for all such as a meritocracy.
So we have a vote for returning to the Lizardfolk group. Probably a good plan given Andreas left a sword back there.

![]() |

The game of houses seems very interesting and a nice break from the typical combat focused PF 1. Unfortunately Vinni is not built for that.
So, what are our options again? I don't even know what the Lizardfolk group is about.

Saoirse Oparaeal |

Yeah the lizardfolk makes sense as a priority mission. I'd be all for the intrigue being a part of things, but of course that's a Bard's wheelhouse.
Before we head out is there anything anyone wants to claim. we still have a +1 whiup, a ring of protection, +1 scale mail and the cloak of resistance and snapleaf brooch from Lily currently not in use.
Either Vinni or I should have the wand of CLW to have a secondary healer (and in case Veronica gets dropped and needs to be healed). We also have 2 potions that need identifying.

![]() |

You should take the wand, I have some cures prepared. All other items have no use for me, except maybe the brooch, but that's true for everyone.

![]() |

Heads up: I'll be traveling from this afternoon until Sunday, so it's unlikely I'll post before Monday.

Saoirse Oparaeal |

Wand added to my sheet.

Rillka Cloudhopper |

Rillka, as a character is not interested in titles or noble houses…
As a player; I fully support those characters who would pursue such options.
There are a lot of open side quest/storylines that could be followed. I think resolving the lizard man and their wisp “god” … and getting Andreas’ sword back is a good place to start.

Saoirse Oparaeal |

I'm good with the building up a noble house. As much as she's from a less than noble background she believes the people in power should have an understanding of how commonfolk exist, and that those who have been poor or had to make choices others might look down on are better suited to rulership than those who've known nothing but privilege.

Albert Malek Garess |

As a character, I am primarily interested in rising in the ranks of House Gardens, but will also pursue any options to increase my standing in Brevoy.

Saoirse Oparaeal |

Okay so while we're dealing with this there's likely an order issues to have a crew go to bring the statue and anything else to big or heavy for us to have carried back to town, as background activity.
The two healing potions should be carried py people who can't cast a healing spell, both as an emergency if isolated, and to be able to use it on an unconscious healer if that happens.
Still a ring of protection and cloak of resistance (with snapleaf) up for grabs.
If no one objects I would take the +1 whip, mainly to use for tripping/disarming to have more tactical options combat while inspiring.

Sir Andreas Eisfalke Von Ulm |

I do not have a problem with the whip going to you.
I am willing to take a potion of healing if that is alright with everyone.
I think both the ring and cloak should go to one of the other members.
I had thought about granting each party member land and titles in which an annual duty shall be paid to the kingdom.
As for House Garess...We have had good relations with them by way of a few players/NPCs.
The only thing that I can see creating potential problems is that they are an establish house in Brevoy. I am definitely not against it at all and even if I was...that is your characters background not mine.

Albert Malek Garess |

I think the ring should go to Andreas, as he definitely needs the AC boost. I already have two backup healing potions and a wand of CLW that I can activate with UMD.
Albert's interests are a bit orthogonal to the kingdom's, as he is very interested in his standing in Brevoy politics. But House Garess is also currently on the outs there and needs a way back in.

Saoirse Oparaeal |

Theoretically when we actually get to the point where we establish a kingdom, House Garess can regain its standing by being the Brevoy .
It's a little more complicated than kingmaker tends to be but, Andreas clearly wants to establish his own kingdom, and Albert clearly wants to focus on building up house Garess

![]() |

If everyone has their own little piece of land, it'd create an unique version of the game. Sounds fun!
About the ring and cloak, I have one of each, so I don't benefit from them, but they should definitely be used. Unless everyone has a cloak of resistance or they have a magic cloak they really want to keep, they should be getting it.

Saoirse Oparaeal |

The word "liason" was missing from the end of that first paragraph

Albert Malek Garess |

I'm participating in a workshop on using historical RPGs in the classroom for the rest of the week and this weekend, but I will post when I can.

Veronica Ferra |

Just so we plan in advance, is Vinni going to do the communal resist energy, or me?

Veronica Ferra |

Thanks for the update!
I'll prep invisibility purge. Since its range is personal and target: You, it should just... generate a field that purges invisibility without worrying about SR or spell immunities, in theory? The FAQ seems to support that it does work on wisps.

Saoirse Oparaeal |

Are we waiting for something in particular? Andreas, ready to set us off?

Albert Malek Garess |

I've updated my spells to deal with our old friend.

Saoirse Oparaeal |

Good point. Are we heading to the Lizardfolk area mounted?
