I just managed to make it back on the site.

Lucky I could still read the general forums and find out that I needed to delete Paizo site cookies to be able to sign back in...but I'm wondering why they don't put that on the front page. Took me 2 days to figure out how to do it.....I got real confused when I signed back in and it did nothing.

Since we are down to Nomyra's last resolve point I'm going to bring up part from the line weapon properties:
..if an attack fails to damage a creature or obstacle hit in the line (typically due to damage reduction or hardness), the path is stopped and the attack doesn’t damage creatures farther away..

It's a bit unclear from current positions on whom who would be the first to be hit, but it was my intention for Wyrd to be that person to act as a human (..well tiefling) shield to block attacks against Nomyra.

So what I'm asking is if the GM is ok with Wyrd taking the first hit and blocking the line from hitting people behind him.

On a related note, do you lose RP if you're hit while stable? I thought that just knocked you back to dying.

Well, it seems I mis-applied the line and damage while stable rules for this combat.

Revvy, thanks for pointing that out on the "line" weapon description. Since Wyrd didn't take damage, the line would have stopped and not damaged Nomyra/Kit. This would have allowed Nomyra to keep her last RP.

And Dennis, you're correct. I carried over the rules of taking damage resulting in RP loss from when the bleed happening before stabilization, but as you said, that only knocks somebody from stable to dying and doesn't burn an RP right away.

Since we've been playing the PC turns in basically any order instead of going in strict turn order when it comes to effects, I believe Nomyra had two RP when the grenade went off, but Vedrir's stabilizing would've prevented the loss of one because it stabilized Nomyra. Then, it turns out Nomyra didn't actually take damage from the line, so she would be at 5 HP and 2 RP remaining after Kit's serum.

Apologies for the errors on this one. Even after two and a half years of Starfinder, I really haven't used the death/dying/stabilize rules on very many occasions beyond buring RP to stabilize and get back in the fight. I think I've really had to use them five times or less, and between this fight and the end of book one, this AP counts for probably half of those times.

Yeah, me neither. I just happened to have looked that particular one up the other day. Those rules (thankfully, IMO) come up so rarely, it's hard to keep them straight. Thanks!

Yeah dying rules in SFS are not known to me either. But in PF2 I know them inside out, especially after playing Fall of Plaguestone, as you fall in plaguestone multiple times:P hence the name.

I think this is for the current combat and is the damage from the cold grenade. Wyrd also has resist 5 cold thanks to him being a Tiefling.

I still have 8 damage from a previous fight, but so far Wyrd hasn't taken any damage during this fight.

@Dennis I just finished the Q-7 Curious Claim and I liked it. It was engaging, had good skill checks and I liked the fight. Unfortunately, I played goblin cavalier, who relies upon mobility and throwing bombs :) And with the trap triggering at a short distance I could not play to his strengths but it was a fun game.

Congrats everybody! We've made it to the end of the Dawn of Flame AP's book 2! And while there are still some things to run down (Balto, for instance), I think we can take as a given your continued employment with the DCI as you continue trying to unravel these mysteries.

Since I want to ask everybody before each book, is everybody good with continuing into book 3?

And, out-of-character, I'd apprecaite your comments/thoughts on anything AP-related so far. What do you think of the story so far?

And (last thing for now), please give me your SFS character information (player name/character name/SFS #/faction/day job roll) for the character to which you want to apply book 2. This book can be applied to a character levels 3-4 (or a character that's level 1-2 if you don't mind waiting to level it up before it takes effect).

Once everybody responds with character info, I'll try to have the chronicles loaded up this weekend.

@GM - not much feedback to you. I like how we are progressing and I love the story arch. I am a bit let down that I can't connect better to Vedrir. I feel like I have the least amount of ideas for him as my PC (compared to the other tables that I play at). And it makes me sad, and I will try to change it before the end of the AP :D

With regards to book 2, I liked the additional encounters (the ones in the market). I think it had more of a dungeon crawl feel than the actual investigation, I think from the diversity of things to do I liked the first book more.

But yea still engaged and I like the fact of us hoarding resources: getting a new ship from part 1, getting a building and a car in part 2. Next to come to our own planet with a mining facility :D

I've been a bit lax in posting this past week. Work got a bit nuts and I was able to keep up with reading but I was unable to sit down behind a keyboard and write a meaning full post till now.

I'd still like to continue with the next book. Looking forward to finding out how the story continues.

About the story so far..I'll admit I was hoping for a bit more about the ship we found that came out of the sun/portal. To me it feels a bit like 2 separate stories as opposed to one longer one. Maybe I'm just missing the overall connection and it will become more clear in the next book(s). But I realy enjoy our group and how we handle (or try to handle at least) the encounters we have.

I've been wondering about that as well... just thinking back over how the various elements of the story link together.

There has been the repeated links to the fire plane throughout the adventure - starting with the appearance of the ship through the portal, the types of creatures we've encountered and prevalence of Ignan language.

@GM Flash: speaking of which - did Puzzle glean anything from their cram session with the Ignan tomes?

Yes, you're all level 5! Also I'll have notes on Puzzle's notes and some happenings around the Burning Archipelago before the next update (TBD) that might relate things back together.

One of the complaints that I've read others have had about the AP is that Dawn of Flame takes a little bit of time to get around to the "main story" of the AP (not that what you've been doing isn't the main story, but you're on the sun working for an organization interested in contacting cultures that live within the sun, so...).

I suspect this could feel especially long in a play-by-post that we've spent the past ~16 months on basically doing (comparatively) "normal" types of adventuring. We start off with a mysterious ship and a whale from the plane of fire for a month or so, and then we transition to civil unrest and gang politics for over a year.

    Ok Vedrir is updated. It turned out I forgot about extra skill points that biohacker gets so I have way more skills (well not way more, but more :)).

    I'm a touch confused: is 3,000 credits for the whole book or the second half? I don't think we had a payout between levels 3 and 4.

    I have been looking at shopping items and am hard pressed to afford an on level piece of weapon or armour.

    I was beginning to wonder if I'd missed something. Being my first AP, I was thinking that I'd been spoiled by SFS payouts.

    Sorry! 3,000 credits was for the second half, the whole book total should be 5,000 credits.

    Your total character wealth (purchase price of item + free credits - consumables used) should be about 9,000 credits or so once you finish leveling up. If that's substantially off, let me know and I will adjust going forward.

    With that bump from 3000 to 5000, Kit's total wealth (gear + cash) is just over 9000cr, so I think we're at the right point.

    Puzzle's pretty much set. That was a difficult round of shopping - so many nice things, so little credits (relatively speaking).

    I took the opposite approach and didn't upgrade armour, rolling the dice that something serviceable will turn up. Although Puzzle and Nomyra are practically polar opposites in terms of their risk of getting up close and personal and being punched in the face.

    The major purchase was a new long arm for that bit of extra bite. Oh, and also tossed some credits in for a medkit - figured it was time to stop sponging from Vedrir.

    Just FYI, Vedrir custom microlab turned this round into an advanced medkit. And yeah shopping for Vedrir was simple. The new weapon costs 4.5 k which eat all of Vedrir's budget :(

    The advanced medkit is a nice upgrade.

I'm glad I was able to finally sit down for a bit and wrap up some of the book 2 story and get us on the road to book 3!     Well, when it rains, it pours. Sorry for dropping off the face of the earth, but now this week I had a family medical situation come up that's required a lot of time and energy, and I haven't been able to get around to getting a solid post together. Trying again "tomorrow" (aka later today, since it's now almost 1 am where I am) but thank you for your patience and understanding as I work through this.
