Zar Orbmark |

Zar follows the group around to the back of the building and waits as Blacklock picks the lock. He then does his best to move quietly into the building, his wand in hand just in case.
Dex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

Shaldinari Vec |

Shaldinari follows the others moving as quietly as she can but her hard-soled boots really aren't made for thieving in the night as they occasionally scrape and thump on the wooden floor of the old warehouse.
Stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

Jarprax |

Stealth: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Stealth (disadv): 1d20 ⇒ 7
In addition to his armour, shield, and weapons clanking with every step, Jarprax also grumbles, loudly, that Blacklock is taking too long with that lock: "Antonio and I can just kick in the door, you know..."

![]() |

Will adjudicate shortly. I don't think that Blacklock can roll lower than Jarprax. Gotta check, because only one person has a chance to hear Jar, but I don't think he has that great of a passive. Not at my computer, right now. Maybe at lunch...

![]() |

Jarprax kicks the door in and you all catch them by surprise!
Map updated.
Blacklock: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Jarpax: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Jiro: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Shaldinari: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Zar: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Thayan Warrior: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Thug: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Round 1
Initiative Order
Shaldinari -> Jarprax -> Antonio -> Zar -> Thugs -> Jiro -> Thayan Warrior -> Blacklock
As Jarprax and Antonio step into the room first and quickly scan the scene. One threat to the left (Yellow) as a thug, sitting on a barrel, picking his fingernail with a dagger, looks up, What the?
To the right (Blue), a thug leaning up against a stack of crates is lighting his cigar with a piece of straw, caught flat-footed.
Across the expansive warehouse, in the left corner is another thug (Red), but it is not clear what he is doing.
On the right, you see Mother Homwell, tied to a chair. Standing above her is a warrior in medium armor, with a shield slung across her back and a longsword at her hip. It looked like she was speaking at, rather than to, her captive. Behind, you can see another thug (Green), but he is obscured by the others.
You are all up!

![]() |

Not right now, her back is facing away from you, though you will see it soon enough! ;)
Blacklock, do you have a particular target in mind?

![]() |

Do you want to use your Bonus action to take the Hide action?
Blacklock's quarrel thuds into the chest of the thug (Red), center mass! A shot at that range in these light conditions must be one in a million! The thug seems made of sterner stuff, however, as he sways, but keeps his feet!
Red -19 hp

![]() |

There is a stream of bright light in the center where the skylight is, but the corners are dim light. And, yes, you can duck back around the door. With all of your allies creating distractions, you can do that, though you are not sure how many times this trick will work. Though, when you have allies in melee, you will be able to take your pick.

Jarprax |

Jarprax charges forward, the growl at the back of his throat rising in volume until it crescendos with a roar that leaves his throat, and explodes in a thunderous clap near the two figures closest to the Mother Protector.
Shatter: I should be able to hit Orange and Green without hitting Holmwell.
Going to expend Channel Divinity to inflict max damage: 3d8 =24
CON DC 13 for half damage

Zar Orbmark |

Stepping into the building, Zar watched Blacklock bury a bolt into one of the thugs. Somewhat surprised he is still standing, Zar raises his wand and sends 3 magic missiles at him hoping to finish him off.
Damage: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (2, 3, 3) + 3 = 11

![]() |

@Jarprax, Orange IS Mother Homwell... >.< However, you can hit both the thug (Green) and the Warrior (White) with shatter, you will possibly take out a portion of the wall as well. ^_^
Shaldinari steps into the room hurling a flurry of arcane missiles at the thug to her left (Yellow), who stumbles back, but still stands!
Jarprax storms Heh. into the room and roars the fury of the storm into existence across the building! Thunder crashes and the wall explodes outward into the street, showering passersby in flinders!
2d20 ⇒ (5, 5) = 10 Both fail! -24 hp for both!
@Antonio, sorry, it is a feat called Charger, I believe. Battleragers get a better version at high levels too. Dash action to get to the Warrior?
Zar not as ready to get into the mix as Shaldinari and the others, lets loose his own flurry of missiles at Blacklock's target, felling the man (Red)!
Round 1
Initiative Order
Shaldinari -> Jarprax -> Antonio -> Zar -> Thugs -> Jiro -> Thayan Warrior -> Blacklock
While we wait on Jiro, Shal, Jar, Antonio, and Zar can post their Round 2 actions.

Jarprax |

Orange IS Mother Homwell...
Oh damn! So glad I didn't use the breath weapon ;)
Jarprax is totally fine with taking out the wall - maybe he'll even hit the guard standing outside with the same 24 damage? Shatter is a 10' radius sphere.Jarprax will continue his charge forward to prevent the Green thug from getting to Mother Holmwell, letting Antonio take on the Warrior for now.
I believe I can just make it to Green by passing through Holmwell's space next to White - Jarprax will deliberately walk past White to draw an attack of opportunity.
Not even noticing the attack in his fury, lightning energy crackles in his wake, leaping from his body to the Thayan Warrior:
Wrath of the Storm: 2d8 ⇒ (4, 7) = 11
This damage only applies if he is hit.
DEX DC 13 for half
At the start of his charge, Jarprax will cast Guiding Bolt at White:
Guiding Bolt: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 2, 3) = 13
If that hits, the next attack (presumably Antonio's) is made with advantage Never mind...

![]() |

@Jar, guy outside wasn't quite close enough to take full damage. I do not have him posted until you can see him, which will be likely be on their turn. Though, if you move forward, you can line the Warrior and Thug (Green) up for your breath weapon... ;)
@Antonio, you get another action before the Warrior gets to go...

Jarprax |

No worries - I'll stick with the next round actions as posted. Jarprax is more concerned with keeping thugs away from the Mother Protector, and he can't do that if he's lining up for a breath weapon

Antonio Carvartee |

"May Torm guide my hand and punish the wicked." Antonio slashes down across the body of the warrior.
I really hope the warrior is a baddy
Longsword attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Don't think Mother Homwell would give me advantage
"Surrender or my next swing will rend you in two. I will only give you this one chance."

Shaldinari Vec |

Seeing the thug start toward her, Shaldinari's eye light with chaotic glee as she flicks her hand and sends a blast of her own eldritch power to slam into the foe. With a satisfied smirk she watches the man fly backwards as her eldritch power strikes him square in the chest.
Eldritch Blast: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Damage: 2d10 ⇒ (6, 5) = 11 Plus 10' Knockback

Jiro the Unwilling |

Jiro surveys the room, charges in, and then mutters an arcane curse at several of their enemies.
I think Jiro can move up close to Jarprax and then have Yellow, Blue, and White all within 30 feet? If so, he casts Bane on all of them. If he can't quite reach White, that's fine. He can at least definitely get Yellow and Blue.
Charisma Save DC 13 or minus 1d4 to all saves & attacks for 1 minute.
Next round:
The kobold then unleashes a string of, well... just plain mean insults.
Vicious Mockery at White (if still up, if not, then order of pref is Yellow, then Blue). Wisdom Save DC 13 or psychic damage and disadvantage on next attack roll.
Vicious Mockery psychic damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4

Jarprax |

Note: I've now moved Jarprax to his new position following his Round 2 actions (i.e., Guiding Bolt and Rebuke).
Sorry Jiro, that's going to leave you a bit exposed!

Jiro the Unwilling |

Note: I've now moved Jarprax to his new position following his Round 2 actions (i.e., Guiding Bolt and Rebuke).
Sorry Jiro, that's going to leave you a bit exposed!
No worries! I was just mentioning Jarprax for reference. Honestly, I/he was only focusing on try to get 3 targets within 30 feet. He hasn't really thought past that, so I guess we'll see that works out for him. ;) But he does have a few tricks if it comes to that.

![]() |

@Jiro, yes they are.
3d20 ⇒ (6, 11, 13) = 30
Going clockwise, Yellow & White failed, Blue succeeded.
A darkness seems to fall over the Warrior and the thug (Yellow) by the back door!
Round 2
Initiative Order
Shaldinari -> Jarprax -> Antonio -> Zar -> Thugs -> Jiro -> Thayan Warrior -> Blacklock -> Mother Homwell
Shaldinari focuses her ire on Yellow blasting him back into the wall! 1d6 ⇒ 4 impact damage! A myriad of barrels fall upon him and he is buried. The absence of movement leads you to believe that he is unconscious, at best, dead at worst...
As Jarprax leaps past Mother Homwell, the Warrior, her blade still sheathed, is unable to swing at him. I will save that roll for when Green takes his swings at you. ;)
Antonio, great idea. Next round, for sure. Mother Homwell will be at the end of the round... remind me if I forget.
Antonio swings, but the Warrior slips to the side, allowing the paladin to see the symbol of Thay on the shield of the warrior. It is faded, somewhat by time, but Antonio makes it out clearly.
Who in the Nine Hells are you all? the Thayan Warrior calls out as she scrambles to draw her longsword.
Zar's turn, then thugs!

![]() |

Three silvery bolts zip past Jarprax' head and into the thug before him, sending him into the wall, where he slumps dead... I imagine Jarprax looking back at Zar, Hey!!! Green is dead.
The Thayan Warrior calls out, Get in here!
Then quieter, addresses the others, They are here for the woman. Kill them, we will dump their bodies in the harbor at nightfall.
The thug (Magenta) watching out front comes in the door and seeing Antonio as the closest threat, moves to help the Thayan!
Magenta
Mace atk #1 w adv: 2d20 + 4 ⇒ (12, 6) + 4 = 22 16, miss.
Mace atk #2 w adv: 2d20 + 4 ⇒ (16, 10) + 4 = 30 20, hit for 5 hp.
The thug (Blue) nearest Jiro moves forward toward the kobold and swings at him twice!
Blue
Mace atk #1 w adv: 2d20 + 4 ⇒ (8, 1) + 4 = 13 12, miss.
Mace atk #2 w adv: 2d20 + 4 ⇒ (17, 3) + 4 = 24 21, hit for 5 hp.
Round 2
Initiative Order
Shaldinari -> Jarprax -> Antonio -> Zar -> Thugs -> Jiro -> Thayan Warrior -> Blacklock -> Mother Homwell
Jiro, make a Concentration check, then your action! ^_^

Antonio Carvartee |

Slash down on the warrior. The sword blade glinting in the dim light as it streaks to its target.
Longsword attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Slash Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Divine Smite: 2d8 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3
"I warned you."
Antonio says to the Thayan warrior in a hard voice.

Jiro the Unwilling |

Concentration: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 Bane is gone!
Jiro grunts as the spell fades from his thoughts. ”Well, that was rude! Ruined a handy spell. Guess I will just have to focus my attention on you then.” With a casual shrug, Jiro pulls out a sliver of glass and mutters an incantation into it.
Then the kobold winks at the thug and flicks the sliver of glass at him... and it explodes into a 5 foot cube of spinning daggers.
Cloud of Daggers damage: 4d4 ⇒ (3, 2, 3, 4) = 12
So no Vicious Mockery, of course. Just guessing what he might have wanted to do trying to make sure I didn’t get behind again.

Blacklock |
Blacklock snuck over to the southeast corner, climbing up atop the barrels and crates licking his fingers as he pulled another quarrel from his vest case. From this vantage he had a line on everyone in the warehouse...the one assailing Jiro needed put down first...
Xbow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Xbow, adv: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Crit Dmg+Snk: 2d8 + 3 + 4d6 ⇒ (8, 6) + 3 + (4, 4, 3, 2) = 30
...with a smirk he changed his position slightly to keep them guessing.
Hide: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

![]() |

Jiro's cloud of daggers erupts into twirling blades! The thug (Blue) has a look of worry as the knives whirl about him!
The Thayan looks at Antonio and snarls, You've made a big mistake, holy man!
longsword atk #1 @ Antonio: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 Miss!
longsword atk #2 @ Antonio: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12 Miss!
Her unsteady swings belie the anxiety that she conceals...
Blacklock, as quiet as a cat, pads up the crates and takes a shot, hitting the thug below him square on the top of the head. The thug (blue) falls face-first, dead.
Mother Homwell, picking her moment, kicks the Thayan in the shin, hard! Help action for Antonio (Take advantage). Maybe you crit! ;)

Shaldinari Vec |

With her first foe down, Shaldinari focuses her ire on the thug standing near Homwell and Antonio. Again she calls up the ancient power of the fae and sends a potent blast of energy streaking toward the enemy.
Eldritch Blast Attack vs Pink: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Damage: 1d10 ⇒ 9 Plus 10' Knockback

Jarprax |

Jarprax flinches to the side as glowing bolts of force fly over his shoulder and strike, unerringly, into the thug. With the man collapsing in front of him, however, he simply nods in satisfaction before turning around to survey the room: it's carnage. His companions have made short work of the enemy, leaving only two. Luckily, he grins, those two are standing in a line:
Jarprax will step 5' to the left, and:
Breath Weapon: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3
DEX DC 12 for half
Then, he'll take up a position behind the Warrior; or, if she's dropped, behind Magenta, to provide Antonio with flanking advantage.

![]() |

Round 3
Initiative Order
Shaldinari -> Jarprax -> Antonio -> Zar -> Thugs -> Jiro -> Thayan Warrior -> Blacklock -> Mother Homwell
Shaldinari's arcane bolt slams the thug (Magenta) up against the door!
Jarprax lines up his lightning breath, adjusting for Shaldinari's alteration to the position of his target and lets loose! Lightning washes over them, but they avoid the heavy arcs!
saves, 1 thug, 1 thayan: 2d20 ⇒ (2, 6) = 8 Both fail.
Advantage for Antonio: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Antonio takes a gouge out of the Thayan warrior's shield forcing her back a step! Thayan -37 hp total
Zar up, then the thug (Magenta).

Zar Orbmark |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

"Finish off the guard but the leader could be useful," Zar says as he steps to the side to get a view of the woman. Focusing on her, he casts a spell.
Cast Levitate on woman Con save DC 14. If fail, I raise her up 10' off of the ground.

![]() |

1d20 ⇒ 18
The Thayan warrior starts to levitate, but snarls at Zar, If there is one thing I know, it is how to thwart the tricks of wizards!
Thug (Magenta) swings twice at Antonio!
Atk 1, pack tactics: 2d20 ⇒ (12, 15) = 27 19, Hit! -5 hp to Antonio.
Atk 2, pack tactics: 2d20 ⇒ (3, 7) = 10 Miss!
Round 3
Initiative Order
Shaldinari -> Jarprax -> Antonio -> Zar -> Thugs -> Jiro -> Thayan Warrior -> Blacklock -> Mother Homwell
Jiro up!

![]() |

It was a great idea, but it just makes so much sense that a Thayan Warrior would be good at resisting spells... Sometimes the dice tell a nice story...

Jiro the Unwilling |

What is Thug (Blue) doing? Weren't they next to Jiro attacking him?(And then had daggers dropped on them)

![]() |

Sorry, between your Cloud of Daggers and Blacklock's hit, he is making a land purchase in Oklahoma... (Bought the Farm, died, kaput...)

Blacklock |
About to hit the hay, wanted to go ahead and post my action since Im about up.
Xbow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Xbow, adv: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 if previous hide was successful
Dmg+Snk: 1d8 + 3 + 2d6 ⇒ (8) + 3 + (3, 6) = 20
It was a quick skill to master, he thought. Relatively speaking anyways. Point and pull...a weapon built for commoners, for the poor. But in the hands of a deadeye, that honed talent was amplified with tremendous results...results the thug (magenta) experienced as a gurgling blood fountain forming in the middle of his throat.

Antonio Carvartee |

Swinging his sword again at the warrior. "No you don't, you need to be planted in the ground. Not floating around!"
Antonio is too focused and does not realize that the spell came from Zar.
Antonio swings his sword in a wide arc and fallow up with a stab to the chest.
Longsword attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Longsword attack, Advantage due to flank w/ Jarpax: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Slash Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Divine Smite: 2d8 ⇒ (8, 6) = 14
Crit: 1d8 ⇒ 5
Call me Holy man will ya....;o)
