Map has been updated to show that Thug (Blue) is dead. Will give a couple more hours for Jiro to post.
| Jiro the Unwilling |
Missed Blacklock's crit, but that would definitely do it!
Jiro ends the cloud of knives, and seeing the battle is pretty decisive, adds a bit more pain onto the remaining thug.
Vicious Mockery on Thug (Magenta) who is probably pretty dead either way. Wisdom DC 13 save.
Vicious Mockery psychic damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Aeshuura
|
1d20 ⇒ 16 The thug (Magenta) laughs at Jiro's taunt, with a surprising amount of self esteem!
The Thayan warrior, infuriated at Mother Homwell's interference, despite her bound and beaten state, thrusts her blade into the priest! Mother Homwell is dying.
Then she turns her attention to Antonio, It is time to finish you, holy man.
Longsword w pack tactics (forgot last time): 2d20 + 5 ⇒ (7, 13) + 5 = 25 18 hits? 7 hp slashing damage.
For dramatic effect, I will let Antonio's retort happen before everyone else's. He does not gain advantage for flank (as flanking is an optional rule that is not accepted by AL), but his first roll was the 20.
Antonio, shocked at the actions of the Thayan, swings hard at his enemy! A flash of light bursts from the paladin's blade and the Thayan warrior's head bounces off the floor and rolls away as its body staggers and falls.
The last thug's face falls... as he realizes that he is the last standing, his eyes coming to rest on the his leader's head laying upon the floor.
Aw damn, I'm not getting paid enough for this...
Combat is effectively over. The thug surrenders and Mother Homwell is bleeding out.
Aeshuura
|
Oh, I thought that you were taking the shot! I looked and it was just enough that it would have killed him...
The thug flinches and tosses his money pouch to the floor and backs toward the door...
| Antonio Carvartee |
Antonio see Mother Homwell's life blood flowing from her reaches down placing his hand on the wound and says
"Torm I humbly ask you to heal the wounds of your faithful."
As the holy healing power surge into Mother Homwell, stitching up her wounds with a light blue glow.
Lay on hands 10 hp
Aeshuura

With a deep breath, Mother Homwell surges up, straining against her bonds!
The discs! she cries, We must stop them!
EDIT: Once she has been calmed, Mother Homwell explains that these were merely mercenaries hired by the Baneite, Tarmin Gald. She tried to resist his tortures, but once he threatened to burn the Helping Hand to the ground and slaughter all of her acolytes there, she relented.
She had hidden the discs away on the Wave Dancer, the same ship that had taken you to the merfolk city. Captain Lesiko secured it in his personal quarters, and they were to leave by third bell after High Sun.
Mother Homwell apologizes for her deception, and calls upon Torm's favor to heal anyone that was injured. Anyone beside Antonio get injured?
She says that she could gather the city guard in the area, but knows that she cannot stop this Baneite Gald herself and asks if you would be willing to try and stall them long enough to allow her to alert the guard.
So, how will you respond?
Aeshuura
|
Having the deadly crossbow aimed at him is a great aid to Antonio's intimidation. The thug is silent as Antonio binds his hands.
| Jarprax |
Just to be sure I understand - Homwell is asking us to take on the Baneites so they don't get to the discs, which are on the ship?
Jarprax places a heavy hand on the Mother Protector's shoulder, tilts his head slightly so he can look her in the eye: "You should not have run off without us - why ask us to help you and then reject our help? We will stop this Gald, never fear, but you must trust us more."
If nobody else has done it, Jarprax will untie her.
Aeshuura
|
Yes, that is the long and short of it.
She shakes her head, I thought I could do it, that you had retrieved all the discs for me and if the cult of Bane had any sense, they would think that you were escorting them. This was a mission that had been given to me, and up until now, I had to rely on you. I should have realized that Torm gave me you all as his blessing.
After being untied, she continues as she heals Antonio, Even this old priest has lessons to learn. I am glad that you were not killed by my foolhardy plan.
Antonio regains 16 hp.
| Zar Orbmark |
Zar is relieved that Homwell is still alive but he looks disappointed in her decision to deceive them. "You should have realized the cult was going to follow everyone who left the Helping Hand. You of all people should know how important it is to keep the disks out of their hands. Is there anything else we should know?" he asks, hoping she hasn't left something else out.
| Shaldinari Vec |
Too furious with Homwell to even look at the old priestess, Shaldinari spends a few moments seeing if the thugs carried anything of value or use. Occasionally muttering various curses under her breath. Once done, she simply folds her arms, stands near the door glaring and waiting for the others to be ready to pursue the Banites.
Aeshuura
|
Mother Homwell glances toward the door and shakes her head, Nothing that I can think of. This Baneite, Galt, is dangerous. He seems to have a special connection with his god, but he knows things that he should not...
She is not unaware of the hostility radiating off Shaldinari and looks at her, nodding in acknowledgement.
Mother Homwell speaks again, Time is of the essence! I will gather support from the guards around the warehouse and harbor districts, and meet you at the Wave Dancer!
-
Anything else before you all leave?
| Jarprax |
| 1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Jarprax will cast Aid on himself, Antonio, and Blacklock. We each get an extra 5hp to our current and maximum hp for the next 8 hours.
| Antonio Carvartee |
I can use all the help I can, Out of lay on hands, and have only one spell slot left. And short rest is no help. But I can channel for +2 to hit with my weapon for 1 min. So bring on the Baneites.
Antonio only shakes his head and smiles at Mother Homwell.
"Torm path is laid out for each of us. All we need to do is see it."
| Jarprax |
If we can get in sight of the Baneites before actually engaging them, I also might remember to cast Bless!
Aeshuura

Okay, noted.
--
You hurry through a maze of docks toward the cargo vessel, Wave Dancer. As you draw near, you hear the unmistakable sound of battle. Sprinting down the walkway, the ship finally comes into view. In the distance, you see a tall man with black hair standing atop its quarterdeck. A warhammer floats beside him, hovering near a bloodied man dressed in captain’s finery. When the dark-haired man notices your approach, he yells to a group of individuals wielding scimitars on the main deck, “Bane demands your sacrifice. Stop those who would to keep us from our prize! The rest of you, unless you wish to see your captain suffer the same fate as your ship’s wizard, cast off the mooring lines and put this vessel out to sea!”
Moments later, the ship erupts in a flurry of activity, as the remaining members of Wave Dancer’s crew grab ropes and begin unfurling sails at a hurried pace.

EDIT: Jar, you can have cast bless last round, if you want, but remember to mark off one round of duration on your turn.
| Antonio Carvartee |
Seeing that the Baneite's have taken the ship. Antonio calls on the power to guide his hand in combat. Antonio's sword start to glow bright (20-foot radius and dim light 20 feet beyond that if it was dark).
As Antonio ducks out of the way from the Baneite's attack, Antonio counters with his own strike fulled with the powers of Torm and Tempus.
Long sword Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 6 + (2) + 2 = 13
dice+Base+Bless+Sacred Weapon
Slashing Damage, Magic): 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Aaaa, Torm. Fighting Baneites, you know your hated enemy, can you kiss the dice please.
| Jarprax |
@Antonio: Add a d4 to that for Bless.
Jarprax will have targeted Antonio, Blacklock, and himself.

Antonio's slash cuts the Bane worshiper across the chest, causing him to falter, but does not take him down! 8 damage to the Baneite! 13 was enough to hit!

| Shaldinari Vec |
Fury infuses Shaldinari's being as she realizes Galt has killed Halara. She could remember the wizard's kindness as she recovered from that first experience of breathing underwater. Her expert, handling of the winds as they sailed to the city of the merfolk. The fact that Halara was dead because of this ego-filled, banite, pile of maggot meat sent waves of anger flowing through Shaldinari's very being.
She channels that anger. Uses it to infuse her Queen's own fae energy. Combined they create a thunderous blast of fury focused on the charging men. Men who would soon be nothing but food for the fish.
Cast Shatter centered on White. 10' radius. DC13. I think that gets White, Purple, Orange, Light Blue, and Magenta.
Shatter Damage: 3d8 ⇒ (3, 6, 4) = 13
Aeshuura

Does taking damage before I start casting a spell require me to roll a concentration check? Also is there an ability modifier on concentration checks?
No Concentration until after you have cast... You are all safe right now.
Aeshuura

clockwise from Cyan, ending with White: 5d20 ⇒ (17, 14, 16, 11, 11) = 69
An explosion of thunder rocks the docks, dumping a Bane worshiper into the harbor! He does not reemerge... Another of them (Purple) screams, clutching at his head, and drops to the deck. The others manage to cover up, and though they look rattled, the stand back up... White and Purple are dead. Orange, Pink, and Cyan take 6 hp damage!

Everyone else may go to finish up Round 1.
Captain Lesiko tries his best to defend against Tarmin Galt's attacks!

| Jarprax |
"... cast off the mooring lines and put this vessel out to sea!”
"Oh, hell no!"
Jarprax traces small circles with his warhammer while chanting in Giantish. On the ship's deck, swirling in time with his hammer, a mist rises, then thickens into a dark fog.
Fog Cloud (see the map for placement)
Calling out to the deckhands in the bow of the ship (by name, if he recognized them): "See to Halara!"
| Zar Orbmark |
Not who I was expecting lol. Yeah, I was thinking about casting sleep. Was just trying to decide if I should target the dock close to us or the ship. If I target the ship, it may make your spell less effective.
Edit - Seeing that you are out of lvl 2 spells, I think I need to thin out this group on the docks so we can get to the ship.
| Zar Orbmark |
Zar's posture slumps when he hears of Halara's fate. He was looking forward to talking to her again to discuss magic. His daydream is abruptly ended when a crossbow bolt hits him squarely in the abdomen.
He screams in pain and looks down in disbelief at the bolt sticking out of him. Gritting his teeth and taking a deep breath to calm himself, he begins weaving a spell to incapacitate the injured worshipers keeping the group from getting to the ship.
Level 2 Sleep centered on square to the south of orange which I believe will reach all the worshipers on the dock and leave out Antonio.
Sleep 2: 7d8 ⇒ (4, 5, 8, 8, 4, 2, 5) = 36

Blacklock, using his allies to cover his movement, moves around the crates on the dock. Aiming his shot, he manages to catch the last standing follower of Bane right between the eyes! Follower (Green) is Dead!
Jiro scrambles forward, and noticing that she is barely breathing, calls out, She's still alive, but barely! Wizard, hang on! Uses Dash action, and bonus action to inspire Windsong!
Halara Windsong death saving throw: 1d20 ⇒ 10

Aeshuura

You see a couple of sailors emerge from the fog cloud, then you hear a voice from within shout out an order, Stop him!
Then a few seconds later a chanting, then the fog disappears! Jarprax, you can feel your fog cloud has been dispelled!

| Jiro the Unwilling |
Jiro spreads his arms and very briefly sparkles in glamorous inspiration.
Bonus Action Mantle of Inspiration to Antonio, Shaldinari, and Jarprax. They each get 5 temp hit points, and can use their reaction to move up to their speed without AoO. Hope that's a good pick of 3. Figure Blacklock and Zar are good at distance. Hope that works! :)
Then he hurries forward and drops a curse at Galt and the acolytes.
Bane on Galt and 2 acolytes (if I can get far enough to get Blue in it). Charisma save DC 13
Aeshuura
|
I think you can get both.
Cha save, top to bottom: 3d20 ⇒ (2, 13, 13) = 28
The acolyte closest to you all sways on her feet, and looks like she is trying to shake 'the cobwebs' clear.
Galt snarls as he shrugs off Jiro's curse, and that act, inspires the acolyte near him to defend against it as well.
| Blacklock |
Blacklock pats his vest a moment and pulls forth the magic wand...with a shrug, it dissolves in his hands as it blasts its full energy forward...his missiles appearing like the dragon on the Zhentarim emblem seeking the falling coin...
Maxed Missile Wand on Galt: 9d4 + 9 ⇒ (3, 4, 1, 4, 2, 3, 4, 4, 1) + 9 = 35
...his hand is raw and red from the wand disintegrating.
Aeshuura

Oh Blacklock...
A flurry of arcane bolts hammer into the dark priest! Impact after impact force the servant of Bane back a step. He stands there, looking down at his chest, a mess of broken bones and blood... and falls face-first onto the deck!
The remaining acolytes get a crazed look on their faces and in unison cry out as they draw their cudgels, For Bane!
Zar and Jar next!
