“Take a moment and catch your breath,” Boodiddly suggests in a soothing voice. “You’re safe now. My name’s Boodiddly - who are you? How did you end up in this forest?”

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

Where were you trying to go when they accosted you? What directly did they come from?
“Take a moment and catch your breath,” Boodiddly suggests in a soothing voice. “You’re safe now. My name’s Boodiddly - who are you? How did you end up in this forest?”
”Well, I’m…uh…Okay, are y’all residents or travelers here? Not…here here, but…y’know.” He’s clearly referring to the Dreamlands.
Assuming y’all tell him the truth: ”Okay, my name is Nestor Character Profiles Updated, and I’m…uh…on the track of a Chelish woman named Kelvetta. She’s a game hunter who kills animals for sport. She suddenly disappeared 6 months ago, and I learned that she came here to the Dreamlands to hunter for bigger and more unusual trophies. I believe she is in these woods hunting some unusual tigers, so I came to stop her. As I was on her trail I was captured by those fey.”

Kolgradd Thunderiron |

Kolgradd doesn't even attempt to hide his suspicion.
"How did you come to be on her trail lad? Are you some sort of guard bringing her to justice?"
He narrows his eyes and tries to find the truth behind Nestor's words.

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

Kolgradd doesn't even attempt to hide his suspicion.
"How did you come to be on her trail lad? Are you some sort of guard bringing her to justice?"
He narrows his eyes and tries to find the truth behind Nestor's words.
”Uh…I guess you could say that…But more accurately I’m just…her rival? ‘Rival’ has a sort of friendly tone to it. But something like ‘nemesis’ seems over-the-top. I’ve been keeping tabs on her and thwarting her cruel practices.”

Jevar Shadowmantle |

Jevar glances at Kolgradd and shrugs lightly.
He seems honest enough.
In that case, we're very likely to run into her while proceeding on our path. What can you tell us about her capabilities?

Kolgradd Thunderiron |

Kolgradd nods slowly in response to Jevar's shrug while he strokes his beard. He listens to Nestor's reply to Jevar before interjecting
"Unusual tigers you say? I suppose they'd have to be to come all the way to the Dreamlands to find them, how are they unusual?"
He's trying to pass this off as idle curiosity, but I suspect his interest in the tigers is obvious

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

Jevar glances at Kolgradd and shrugs lightly.
He seems honest enough.
In that case, we're very likely to run into her while proceeding on our path. What can you tell us about her capabilities?
”’Run into her’? Uh…she’s an expert archer; I’ve seen her fell creatures in a single shot before. I’m sorry, what do you mean you’ll run into her?”
"Unusual tigers you say? I suppose they'd have to be to come all the way to the Dreamlands to find them, how are they unusual?"
”Well, uh…tigers—normal tigers—are solitary hunters that usually hunt in plains or savannahs. The ones in the Enchanted Forest apparently hunt in groups called ‘streaks’ and are more accustomed to hunting on the high branches here.”

Jevar Shadowmantle |

I mean... come across her. Across her path. Encounter her. And I think we'll be fine. We've managed to come this far!
The mage is trying to exude confidence.

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

"Yeah, but...why? Are...Are you going after the tigers too?" Nestor makes no attempts to hide the suspicion in his voice.

Boodiddly |

Boodiddly sighs. “It’s a long story - a tale of a tail, as it were...”
I’m afraid I can’t remember all the details, but I’m certain Boodiddly would tell them in the best possible (and most entertaining) method.

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

Boodiddly sighs. “It’s a long story - a tale of a tail, as it were...”
I’m afraid I can’t remember all the details, but I’m certain Boodiddly would tell them in the best possible (and most entertaining) method.
You’re working to trade a freshly-killed tiger for a pard tail (one of the items you need to collect to give to the Mad Poet).
Nestor folds his arms and looks at the amnesiacs with what can only be described as disappointment. ”So you’re out here hunting these creatures just like Kelvetta? Have you no shame?”
Yeah…this guy is basically an animal rights activist, so I need a Diplomacy check to cool his distaste towards y’all.

Boodiddly |

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (11) + 17 = 28
“Easy there - remember, this is a dream,” Boodiddly responds gently. “I don’t like it any more than you do, but there’s not really an alternative that I can see.”

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

"I mean, yeah...but this is their reality...but this is still a dream...Gah! This is so confusing!"

Jevar Shadowmantle |

Who knows, maybe they'll simply wake up somewhere, just as all of us will!
Diplomacy, aid: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

”You know what?” Nestor finally stands on his feet. ”I’m coming with you. If you’re going to the tigers, then you’re also going to Kelvetta. And if you are going to hunt these tigers, I’m going to make sure you do it humanely; they may still be a dream, but that doesn’t mean they should suffer.”

Jevar Shadowmantle |

Jevar chuckles at Nestor's declaration.
Whatever helps you sleep at night, friend he quips ironically.
He fully expects some manner of incredulous or indignant response from the man.

Boodiddly |

"Of course we'll be humane," Boodiddly reassures. "You saw how we dealt with those glowing fellows who tied you up and used you as bait and sacrificial supplies, right?"

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

"Of course we'll be humane," Boodiddly reassures. "You saw how we dealt with those glowing fellows who tied you up and used you as bait and sacrificial supplies, right?"
”That is not reassuring. Whatever. Let’s go.”

The amnesiacs plus one travel further into the Enchanted Forest, eventually coming upon an area where the trees cast deep shadows over the boughs and leaves. This is the tigers’ territory. Map Updated
As they continue onward, the amnesiacs plus one begin noticing rustling in the leaves around them, as it becomes increasingly clear that something is moving to surround and ambush them. They look closer and find that, amid the green of the forest’s shadows, are the tigers, who are not keen on others in their territory.
The amnesiacs note that the tigers here look almost exactly like their waking world counterparts, save for one distinct difference: these tigers are a dark green instead of orange, allowing them to blend in with the trees easier. They also note two tigers on a far branch that look bigger by comparison—and these ones have canine teeth the size of daggers!
Nestor looks at the tigers in surprise. ”Wait…they’re still here?”

Jevar Shadowmantle |

I really wish you could move the ice storm with a sustain, but it's time to get that action back...
Careful Nestor! If that thing comes to, I don't think it will share your feelings.
He lets go of the ice storm, finally admitting that it's at best a bare inconvenience for the tigers to avoid. The flaming ball, however, he moves from the downed tiger to the remaining active aggressor.
◆ Sustain a spell: Flaming sphere Fire damage, WHITE, DC26 reflex negates: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 3) = 8
He turns and whispers to Oreb. You caught a bit of my power, no? I need it back. The big one.
◇ Drain familiar (4th level)
◆◆ Cast (somatic, verbal) Enervation (30' line passing by Kolgradd and through WHITE, marked on map)
Success The creature takes 2d8 persistent negative damage.
Failure The creature takes 4d8 persistent negative damage and becomes drained 1.
Critical Failure The creature takes 4d8 persistent negative damage and becomes drained 2 and doomed 1.

Boodiddly |

According to my calculations, inspire defense will linger until the start of Boodiddly’s next turn. However, I have been confused by the duration tracker before (and likely will be again), so if that’s not the case we’ll need to retcon this round.
Boodiddly continues to hum soothingly, then wrinkles his nose and shrieks at the tiger with an uncharacteristic display of aggression.
Occultism vs DC 18: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19
Sustain [A], then Create Impossibility to duplicate effects of lvl 1 fear spell (Will 26) on White [AA].

Shakur Hektat |

"Let's finish this up and get out of here quickly!"
[A]True Strike (using 2nd level sorc slot but not heightening.)
[AA]TP again. Hopefully better this time?
Attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 14 = 20
Attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19
What in Pharasma's name is that luck? Same numbers. Smh

Kolgradd Thunderiron |

Kolgradd reels from the stench of the tiger's breath as much as being feasted upon.
"That was a close one!"
He tries to wrench free of the thing's grip, not wanting his armour ripped off, even if it is imaginary.
◆ Escape
Athletics: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (2) + 19 = 21
Unable to break free, he settles for knocking it out instead.
◆ Strike
Maul, MAP: 1d20 + 19 - 5 ⇒ (19) + 19 - 5 = 33
Bludgeoning: 2d12 + 7 ⇒ (5, 11) + 7 = 23
◆ Strike
Maul, MAP: 1d20 + 19 - 10 ⇒ (7) + 19 - 10 = 16
Bludgeoning: 2d12 + 7 ⇒ (12, 1) + 7 = 20
◆ Strike
Maul, MAP: 1d20 + 19 - 10 ⇒ (9) + 19 - 10 = 18
Bludgeoning: 2d12 + 7 ⇒ (6, 7) + 7 = 20

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

Resolving in turn order (rather than post order) because it matters.
Shakur tries, and fails, to hit the remaining tiger.
Boodiddly, you are correct that inspire defense will expire at the start of your NEXT turn; if the “lingering defense” condition is still written in the initiative card, then you DON’T have to re-cast it. Boodiddly sustains his magic and uses the Dreamlands to his advantage. The DC of the Create Impossibility was actually 17 (15 +2 for two actions), but that doesn’t really matter.
White Will: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
Kolgradd tries to escape, but decides it better to simply attack the beast. He hits it once HARD, knocking it off of its feet (but still with a hold on the dwarf). He follows with two Advantageous Assaults, but both miss even with the frightened and flat-footed from being prone.
Jevar moves his sphere then launches negative energy at White.
White “basic” Reflex; frightened 2: 1d20 + 12 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 12 - 2 = 23
White Fort; frightened 2: 1d20 + 15 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 15 - 2 = 14
Using Kolgradd as leverage, White wearily gets back to its feet ◆ Stand (the grab only ends if White moves away or fails to maintain the grab with the Grab action). The tiger then maintains its hold on Kolgradd ◆ Grab and once again tries to bite into Kolgradd’s torso! ◆ Pierce Armor.
White fangs vs Kolgradd FF w/inspire defense; frightened 2: 1d20 + 16 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 16 - 2 = 32 I’m kinda glad this got to work at least once.
Damage; Sneak Attack: 2d10 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (9, 4) + 6 + (3) = 22
The tiger’s elongated canines chomp down on Kolgradd’s torso with such force that it causes the breastplate of his half-plate to split right in two and opens a violent gash in his chest! With a violent grip on his chest, the tiger then twists its body and knocks Kolgradd off of his feet! If it hits with the Strike from Pierce Armor, the target is knocked prone and their armor becomes broken if it has Hardness 10 or less (which is basically all armor not made of a special material). If the Strike breaks armor or damages a creature that’s unarmored or wearing broken armor, the target takes 2d6 persistent bleed damage. It’s a ruthless action, but it takes quite a bit of setup to accomplish (because it can only use Pierce Armor on a creature it’s grabbing). Kolgradd, because your armor is broken, you take a -3 status penalty to AC.
Negative Damage: 4d8 ⇒ (8, 4, 5, 1) = 18
DC 15 flat: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Nestor’s turn: ”AH!!!” Nestor is completely shocked bu the turn of events that just occurred and sends a ray of healing energy at the dwarf. 2-action, 3rd-level heal.
Healing to Kolgradd: 3d8 + 24 ⇒ (6, 8, 2) + 24 = 40
Nestor’s magic completely closes the wound on Kolgradd’s chest. Since it fully heals Kolgradd, he is no longer taking persistent bleed. Nestor then moves over to the unconscious body of Black.

Jevar Shadowmantle |

Jevar looks at the calmed tigers and gets an idea.
I hope they can understand our speech...
◆ Sustain a spell: Flaming sphere Fire damage, WHITE, DC26 reflex negates: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 3) = 14
◆◆ Cast somatic, verbal Suggestion on WHITE
He whispers the suggestion "calm" towards the large tiger.
Success The target is unaffected and thinks you were talking to them normally, not casting a spell on them.
Failure The target immediately follows your suggestion. The spell has a duration of 1 minute, or until the target has completed a finite suggestion or the suggestion becomes self-destructive or has other obvious negative effects.
Critical Failure As failure, but the base duration is 1 hour

Boodiddly |

Boodiddly continues to hum even as his mind races. Ouch! How to protect? Magic? Yes. Conjure replacement? Too far. Get close? Yes. Soon. With his thoughts all in a row, the red-haired musician tap-dances forward on the massive branch.
Sustain [A], cast inspire defense [A], and Stride [A].

Kolgradd Thunderiron |

"Aargh!"
The sudden rupturing of his breastplate is quite a shock, and Kolgradd tries to use his mind to get free.
I am a leaf on the wind
I can't find the full details of create impossibility, I'm assuming it's an entirely mental thing and doesn't have manipulate so no flat check?
◆◆ Create Impossibility to cast Freedom of Movement
Occultism: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (15) + 18 = 33
He then slips out of the grip of the tiger easier than a greased weasel,
◆ Escape
and tries a quick swing from the floor
◆ Strike
Maul, MAP, prone: 1d20 + 19 - 5 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 19 - 5 - 2 = 20
Bludgeoning: 2d12 + 7 ⇒ (1, 5) + 7 = 13

Shakur Hektat |

"How much longer are they going to be calmed?" Shakur asks, eyeing the other tigers for a moment.
[AA]Telekinetic projectile
Attack white, if it's still up: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15
Please dice roller. Please.
[A]Shield

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

Jevar moves his sphere…
White “basic” Reflex: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
…then whispers a suggestion to the tiger. Unfortunately, the wizard’s words go in one ear and out the other. Doesn’t understand Common.
Boodiddly sings and moves.
Yes, Kolgradd, Create Impossibility is completely mental. Kolgradd uses the power of dreams to slip out of the tiger’s grasp and swings at the beast, but misses.
Shakur continues to miss the tiger.
White, confused at how easily Kolgradd slipped out of its grasp, simply tries to grab him again.
◆ White fangs vs Kolgradd FF w/inspire defense and broken armor; frightened 1: 1d20 + 16 - 1 ⇒ (7) + 16 - 1 = 22 Thank your bard for that fear.
Damage; Sneak Attack: 2d10 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (6, 7) + 6 + (6) = 25
◆ White claw vs Kolgradd FF w/inspire defense and broken armor; 2nd, agile, frightened 1: 1d20 + 16 - 4 - 1 ⇒ (20) + 16 - 4 - 1 = 31
Damage; Sneak Attack (doubled from crit): 2d8 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (2, 4) + 6 + (5) = 17
Hitting the dwarf, the tiger ◆ Grabs him again.
Negative Damage: 4d8 ⇒ (1, 8, 6, 5) = 20
DC 15 flat: 1d20 ⇒ 14
But Jevar’s enervation saps what remaining life the tiger had and the smilodon falls unconscious. Considering you can attack Blue without breaking the calm emotions, I’m just going to handwave the rest of this.
Nestor continues to stabilize the tigers as necessary, but is still very bothered by something on his mind. ”T-these tigers are still here. Does that mean Kelvetta wasn’t here?”
What do you do?

Kolgradd Thunderiron |

"It might lad,"
Kolgradd pays him little attention as he stumbles to his feet and peers into the trees, trying not to let his broken armour distract him.
"Or it might be that she clocked us coming for the tigers too and thought she'd wait for us to do the hard work"
He tries to find any signs of watchers in the trees
Perception: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (9) + 17 = 26

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

"Or it might be that she clocked us coming for the tigers too and thought she'd wait for us to do the hard work"
”No. She’s a game hunter. She kills for the sport of it. To wait for someone else to do it for her makes no sense.”

Jevar Shadowmantle |

Hmm, then the chances are she isn't anywhere nearby. Or, perhaps fell to her death? There were five of them and one of her. Or does she come with an entourage?
Jevar searches for signs of a struggle prior to their own
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14 bleh

Boodiddly |

“Maybe she found more tigers somewhere else?” Boodiddly offers hesitantly.
