Feel free to make any purchases you would like while you are in town. You have earned the adventurer's discount, meaning that you receive a flat 5% discount off the price of all items and services purchased in Breachill. I'll move things along to Guardian's Way.
Don't forget to level up to 3 if you haven't done so yet!

Sorry. Just don't feel like ice had much to contribute and stillrecovering from unwellness so haven't had the oomph to sit down and get Lucius levelled. PF2 still hasn't gripped me so far...

Just checking in to apologize and say I’m still here. Going through some big stuff IRL right now, including helping move my family out of state, so I’ve been very mentally and emotionally drained with little time to catch up here. I’ll level up soon and check in when I can, but will most likely be absent for another week or two.
Just assume Nell is like, in the corner taking notes most of the time. ;)

Sorry - planned to update Lucius tonight but then some people decided to break my character's heart and well... :P

Since my none of my other characters are suffering tonight I've had some time.
Lucius level 3.
+1 to level stuff.
Expert fort (domain) and ref (feat).
Level 2 spells.
Better healing.
What spells should I be prepping for a night attack? Got Bless x2 and Magic Weapon for Level 1, any thoughts for Level 2?

Since my none of my other characters are suffering tonight I've had some time.
That tells me that I'm not living up to my potential.
Have to do something about that. ;)
Edited: dispel magic is always a winner. Particularly when going up against a spellcaster. :)

Thought I posted here, sorry to see that I hadn't. Been gone helping the in laws move up north, back and ready now; will catch up on reading and post in the next couple days. Thanks for the patience.

With a spellcasting modifier of +4, their spell DCs at level 3 should be 19. Enemies scale differently.
I'd noticed that. I would guess that Voz's saves are at least +9, in which case she would have a 50% or better chance of making her save against the party's spell DC of 19.
There's a lot that I like about PF2, but some of it - especially the numbers - really does feel like it was hastily scrawled on the back of a cigarette pack in the pub 1 day before the printing deadline.

It makes sense to me that a tough boss would require throws of 14-15+ when buffs aren't taken into account. Since these are no longer 'save or die' throws, and you get to save again every turn, I can definitely see where the game designers are coming from.
Applying Frightened reduces the enemy's DCs, so having one or more characters with a decent Intimidation check goes a long way to bring down the enemy's effectiveness.
ps - hero points, they're a thing, and I keep forgetting about them -_-

Ervan, I see where you're coming from but I remain unconvinced by the numbers. At our level, the absolute maximum Will save you can get is 11 (3rd level + 4 Expert + 4 Wis). Even someone with that maximum will save would need a 12 to save vs DC 23, meaning they will fail more than half the time. I can't help thinking that is wrong, because it means that even the most competent PC in a particular field (in this case, Will saves) is utterly dependent on a coin-toss.
And buffs are nice, but they don't stack as well in PF2 and they're mostly limited to +1 (note e.g. that the Inspire Courage bard ability doesn't scale with level any more: it's a flat +1 whether you're at level 1 or level 20).
I get that this is a CR 5 challenge, but I still think the numbers are hinky across PF2 as a whole. I know this is a roll-play game as well as role-play, but I would have made the odds a little better for the PCs*. The game designers seem to think that making even the most optimised Will-save PC fail a Will save more than half the time equals a "challenging" game. It strikes me as a game that is just going to frustrate people.
Which is annoying, because there's a LOT about PF2 that I really like.
*and I say that as someone who wears a DM hat quite often, too. There are better ways to challenge players than saying "at least half your dice rolls are going to fail, ha ha"

Will be tomorrow I'm afraid. I need to sort out my spells and its late here. Sorry!

LEVEL THREE TO FOUR
Skill Feat: Recognize Spell (Arcana)
Wizard Feat: Counterspell
+2 spells known: Resist Energy, Comprehend Language
+1 lvl2 spell per day
+8 HP
+5 HP Familiar
Counterspell and Recognize Spell seem to be at odds with one another, as both cost you your reaction. It seems to be that way by design and it isn't until level 7 that I can recognize arcane spells as a swift action, so I know what I'm actually dispelling :')
