As a European that visited only a few US cities, I must agree that going to NY is an odd experience. I visited it in summer which I believe is the worst time of year to visit that place (it is scorching in this concrete oven and the smell from this unique garbage disposal system makes you feel like walking on a dumpsite). I found bars and restaurants worthwhile but the rest was very mediocre (personal opinion).

What I couldn't wrap my head around was the fact that most of my coworkers who lived in NY were under the impression that they live in the best place in the world and were trying to convince me before, during and after the trip how lucky I would be and was to see it.

I am glad for every person that likes that city but for me, it was completely not it.

Scarab Sages

I'll update gameplay when I have a few spare minutes but I wanted to ask your opinion.
This scenario has an optional encounter - which can be run if there's enough time left (I think there's plenty left). It's a combat encounter and I'm not a strong believer in optional encounters with a risk without an added benefit. I think that the risk is pretty low for this encounter since it doesn't seem that difficult of a fight.

For people playing it for the first time it might be nice to have this encounter at another time playing it since it will add something new to your run then.

I can run it for you guys if you want to play it.

I have no idea if people want to free up their characters to play in another game so I'm leaving the choice up to you.

I'll roll with the majority. I've no immediate plans for Kadef.

I, too, am fine either way. Sev was intended to be for combat, but I've been pleased that he's been able to contribute to more of the scenario than I had anticipated. For that, I am appreciative of both the GM's ability to improvise and the player's encouragement and creativity.

I've played the optional encounter at both tiers, so nothing to spoil for me. I have no immediate plans to play Sev.

Exo-Guardians

I vote for the option encounter. I like the team and the vibe that we have. So let's do this!

Second Seekers (Jadnura)

Male Pahtra Operative (Spy) 4 | SP 0/28 HP 28/28 | RP 3/5 | EAC 18; KAC 18 | Fort +2; Ref +7; Will +4 | Init: +5 | Perc: +9 , SM: +7,Dark Vision 60ft, Low light Speed 40ft | | Active conditions: Shirt Reroll Definitely used.

I am fine with the optional encounter...I for one am interested to see what kind of weird spin Revvy is going to do to this one ;-)

Scarab Sages

Optional encounter it is, I'll set it up tomorrow

A question about the rules. With regards to Operatives can they actually do a trick attack without a weapon being drawn? Meaning, trick attack is a full action, as a part of which you can move but it always seemed to me that Operative can begin to do his trick attacks starting from round 2.

I don't really think that it matters in the case of this fight, but I was pondering on this one few times already.

Scarab Sages

I'm not 100% sure..but since you need to do the move part before the attack and you can draw a weapon as part of a move I've always gone with you are able to draw a weapon as part of a trick attack

D'vost wrote:

Ok, so now I think I understand it a bit better. So my answer to your question Revvy and the way how it should work is as follows:

1. I throw a grenade. every enemy within the range do the Reflex Save against DC = 10 + dex mod + weapon level (DC15 in this case)
2. If they fail the reflex save they are entangled for 2d4 rounds
3. As they are entangled following the rules as a move action they can try to shake it off following the rules that I wrote

Does it make sense?

It does..but as far as I could tell, the sticky grenade doesn't actually have the entangle property (which you quoted the rules for)..it just gives the condition entangled when it's not dodged by a reflex save.

I guess they mean to give it the entangle special weapon property (since they specially mention the stickybomb grenade as an example..but they are of by 1 letter, which mean it didn't show up in my searches.

My apologies to Kadef, since it now seems that him tossing a sticky bomb grenade to one of the Squoxes would have glues it to the floor for a bit.

No worries. No one died.

I'm enjoying the flip game.

Yeah, I heard that interpretation, however, the rules says:

CRB wrote:

Drawing a weapon so that you can use it in combat or putting
it away so that you have a free hand requires a move action.
...
Exception: If you have a base attack bonus of +1 or higher,
you can combine drawing or sheathing a weapon or weapon-like
object with moving up to your speed as a single move action.

Now Trick Attack is a full action that allows you to move. What is more full action also uses swift action, so I assumed that even having quick draw it does not allow you to make a trick attack. But as I said I don't think it is super important in terms of this engagement.

Seems you are right, but I've noticed that a lot of the rules in Starfinder are not consistently worded so it might be an oversight. I doubt they'd want to single out Operatives to not be able move and draw a weapon.

But better be save and always walk around _everywhere_ with your environmental protections turned on and a weapon in hand.

:D Yep. On a serious note, with my operative, I go with the assumption that the first round is a round of pulling a weapon and making a normal attack. When on the second+ round I do trick attacks.

Then it is the same for a soldier who can't do a full attack on the first round.

So glad we took the extra encounter.

Guys, I just want to say that this is a great RP group. I really enjoyed everyone's character concepts and how they flavored them. In most groups anyone one of you would be my favorite RP player.

Special props to Lysle's Sev. So many try the sociopathic character, so few succeed. You made Sev huge fun.

I agree that this was a really great RP group. I've played this scenario quite a few times. Nevertheless, the creativity of the players and the improvisation of the GM made this run unique, memorable, and a joy to play!

I'm glad you enjoyed Sev. I was unsure at the beginning how he would fit in with the group, but he turned out to make a pretty good straight man. He would never admit it, but I think he enjoyed playing the "game" with the goblins..

Second Seekers (Jadnura)

Been a very fun group. And yeah, Baurquathus (or Ticcus) is one of those people who is there to help others, but he isn't there to really kill things. Scoured Stars kinda left him a little broken. Fighting to the end, or needless fighting, was definitely something he has came to the realization he is soured on. I do plan on giving him a lot of stun weapons in his future.

This scenario (not yours Revvy, just the scenario in general) could have had a little more variance. The RP of the players, and the slight variations that the GM can do (usually fluff or reskins of mobs) makes the game unique. Did an awesome job on that Revvy.

Hope to be in many more games with you all (GM and Player).

I'm glad to hear people have enjoyed themselves.

You as a group performed great and succeeded on both the primary as well as the secondary mission success conditions

I almost forgot that since this is part of the Gameday there's a chance of a boon.

Everyone can roll one D20. If someone for some reason hasn't rolled one before I send in the reporting info I'll roll for them.

For Starfinder:
A 19 or 20 wins a boon
Roll a d3 to determine which one you get.

This has been an amazing game. Never thought any of my toons would ever actually be dancers. Thank you all for a great experience and I thank you Revvy for doing another amazing job. Hope to roll with you all again.

This one: 1d3 ⇒ 1

After seeing Mute roll his Dayjob I'm reminded that if someone hasn't rolled a Profession check yet, this would be a good time to do so ;)

With regards to day job I will use it for True Savior of Tasch. So no roll needed.

With regards to this scenario. I must say that I loved it. Revvy you did amazing job with all encounters and I really liked what you did with Shrani. I have no experience as GM in PBP but I believe the biggest discriminating factor in this scenario is the dignitary that you 'baby sit'. He/she should be a big persona around whom the whole scenario is happening. Yet too frequently the dignitary is completely not visible.

In this scenario our protege was very vocal and visible. She had an impact on every encounter and had conversations with every member of the team. I like the fact that she was a daughter of the dignitary and not a dignitary himself, she had a personality and behavior of a kid/teenager. I even enjoyed her picture.

My favourite encounter was the dancing part in the concert hall. I liked how on the ship you didn't put all the enemies on the map but brought them in as we discovered them. I even liked the part when we were catching the squoxes which most GM's simply rushes through.

Kudos to you Revvy. That was one of the best PBP games that I had in my life, and a big part of it was how you run it.

With regards to players. This was the kind of game that I like, the PC's had interactions between themselves creating a good environment for RP. The team was interesting and characters had more than 1 dimension. Everyone was involved in tasks and even if Bar decided to not fight he was taking part in the encounter and RP'ing along.

Great job Sev for being maniacal Android. A very distinctive personality that is a nice background for other characters. I really enjoyed Sev's interactions and posts.

Mute I already knew and once again very nice job. I really like that Halfling, he is very colorful and vocal with really nice interactions with other PC

Bar was a cool odd agent. He found his way through a scenario. I like damaged PC's and he was ticking that box. Bar brought a lot of color and music into this scenario once again proving that doing some other things while a fight was happening is a viable option.

Kadef really good game. I was sorry that some of your rolls weren't high enough especially in Diplomacy interactions. I think I lacked a bit about what was Kadef 'thing'. If I had to describe him I would have a hard time, if you know what I mean.

With regards to D'vost your jokes were splendid! Kidding of course. I have problems with him as I can't define him due to what I struggle with playing him with most teams. In this game, I had a few good posts which I really liked. I enjoyed playing D'vost in this scenario which is thanks to you.

So thank each and every one of you for an amazing game!

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Farol, your impression of Kadef might be perfect. I want to build him into an unctuous butler of a diplomat. His diplomacy rolls kind of torpedoed that, but I found it personally pretty funny that my diplomat was maybe the least popular member of the team with Shrani.

And, Revvy, I left you out of my last post quite unintentionally, so please let me echo Farol. Great job. Shrani-too was an annoyingly teenager hoot.

And before I forget --

If I've done everything correctly you can find your chronicles

Here

I think I've managed to set up a folder where you have permission to download your chronicle. If not, let me know. If you think I've filled in something wrong, please let me know and I'll try to fix it (I've been know to make copy&paste errors in the past).

You were a very fun group to run a scenario for and made me want to put in that little bit extra to come up with rp descriptions for everything that happened.

@Mute; you put in 2 dayjob rolls. So I've gone with the first one you used with the rest of your reporting data.

No Gameday boons this time around, but there's always next Gameday

I've I did everything correctly itbe fixed now D'vost. You just need to redownload your chronicle.
