Welcome.

This is part of PbP Gameday VIII. If you got here because you signed-up in the excel sheet and followed the link, this is where you are supposed to be ;)

Feel free to dot in to the gameplay thread so this game will show up in your campaign tab and you can easily find it again at a later date.

In case someone already has played this scenario - don't worry it has the repeatable tag so you can still play ;) - please put behind a spoiler block what you can still remember from your previous run(s) and I'll try to sort out the customizable parts in a way that will give the most new content possible.

This PC is somewhat anti-social, so I don't expect him to be a main decision maker or take lead on any negotiation/social interactions. His analytical mind is more attuned to vivisection.

At this point I will put down which ambassadors I haven't played or run.

Hi, all. First time playing this scenario for me. I signed up with Ears, my 2nd level technomancer, to match party level. Alternatively I could play a first level envoy, if we end up in 1-2.

First time in this scenario, second PBP on Paizo game.

Been playing SF for a year now and I have a bit of background with D&D. Love to RP but live for combat.

I just hope y'all are ready for Mute. >winks at Revvy<

Guys, looks like we're firmly in the 1-2 tier. If you all don't mind, rather than Ears the 2nd level technomancer that I originally signed up with....

... I think I'd rather play Kadef, a first level envoy who doesn't have 'get'im'.

Oh, Mute...I (the player) am ready for you. Baragh unfortunately can't show up for this game...he has already played it. But Baurquathus--my pahtra operative (Spy) should be fine with you. He is a bit over the top himself ;-) I figure these two can get themselves into a LOT of trouble....

I don't have the scenario yet so I can't tell for sure what kind it will end up being, but I have no doubt you guys (or Mute by himself) can get in some sort of trouble ;)

I personally have no objections to people changing characters (at least until we've started the game) but please make sure you'll post the right reporting info at some point so the credit will go to the correct character(s).

I wanted to have you all fill in your reporting info once we've started at the same time as you list what boons you have slotted so I'd have all relevant information together in one place so I was waiting for the game to actually start before asking - in case anyone wanted had to drop out of the game or switch characters or something but on that note......

Listening to his attempt at a joke

The joke was splendid! It's just the audience is lacking any sense of humor. I will try with a knock, knock jokes then.

Kidding of course.

I'm afraid to admit that it took me a couple of seconds to figure out the joke.....

Not sure how well that bodes for the rest of the adventure ;)

Unfortunately (maybe fortunately for me....), I have a very warped sense of humor. So D'vost's joke hit me like a 2x4 in the face....or maybe just an ogre's fist.....

Kinda sucks to not officially start for 2 weeks, but I guess we can banter around for 2 weeks....getting free RP in. We just can't start the 'official' mission :-)

Either way, D'vost got his last Chronicle so he got into lvl 2. Just throwing it out there. There was no feat related to telling higher quality jokes so...

As a player, I always appreciate a joke. This PC, Sev, unfortunately, seems incapable of doing so.

Feel free, however, to make him the subject of any jokes. His limited focus makes it unlikely that he would even realize it! And if he did, he probably wouldn't get it.

Jim, it took a week, but I did look up Baby Metal and Amon Armath. Not my first love in music, I'm more of a folk rock kind of guy, but Baby Metal was fun, and Amon Armath was like a musical Frank Frazetta.

Kadef, I actually agree with your statement on 'not my first love in music'....honestly I am more classical, Irish/Scottish folk, Operatic Rock (Nightwish or Within Temptation) or Music Soundtrack type of person (Though honestly, I usually only listen to books on tape or Audible anymore unless in the car).

Baby Metal is fun, and that is what the local VC here has decided that SMC sounds like. I actually like Amon Armath, though in small doses. I just figure that Baurquathus (in the Ticcus persona) is more of the harder metal kind of cat.

Since this was put on hold for a couple weeks, I am going to just mention that I am going to likely be out of Wireless or Cell service between the days of September 27th until October 6th. I might have service when the ship docks and I can disembark for a little while. If you need to move the story forward, please Revvy either bot my character, or have another player bot me.

Do you have a preference for the player that you want in charge of your character?

Normally I'm pretty cautious with NPC-ing someone - readying attacks, retreating, going full defensive,etc since I'm not very comfortable with deciding something for someone else character since I don't want to kill them or have them (not) do something because I have meta info on what could happen so if you want a more active role when you're not around your best bet is have another player decide what your going to do

Revvy. I am fine if you want to do it, or if you want to hand it off to somebody else, anybody who knows how operatives work would be fine with me. I know the scenario well enough to know that likely Bar won't be killed, but maybe will cause issues with the wrong type of roll.

During that week I am on a ship, I doubt I will be more than once or twice without any internet for 24 hours (there is a day on the ocean 2 days out of 5). My posts on the other days might be a bit hurried. But especially in combat, if me not posting is slowing something down, just have Bar do the best he can do...trick attack + shooting likely. Again, you or another person who has played or at least set down to work on an operative. All the information should be on my character page.

Does Sev state these analysis out loud?

The statements in italics are intended to note internal "thoughts". However, Sev is not deceptive and, even with the android's flat effect, not terribly difficult to read. Mechanically, if Mute were to take 10 on a Sense Motive check, he should be able to discern Sev's thoughts regarding his fellow agents since the DC would only be 10. Thus, I am fine with Mute "reading" his thoughts in this way, if you so desire (especially, if you think it would make for more fun or opportunity for roleplay)!

Perhaps, I should note that Sev was conceived sort of as an "evil twin" to my 701 PC with a personality derived as personal exercise/experiment in trying to play a logical "murder hobo".

Unfortunately, Guli is still going through his Commencement. I think he's close done; he's either in his last assignment or second to last. But I don't think "close to done" is quite good enough for an event that starts at a set time. It seems that I should drop.

You can't play a character that's already in a game, but there's no rule against starting a new character.

But if you already have too many characters and don't want to start another one there are enough players for the game to continue so you shouldn't feel bad about dropping out of the game.

This is actually convenient because I am feeling swamped. Please remove Guli from the game. I hope to play with all of you at a later time!

Short explanation;

I'm bad with names

Long explanation:

I'm using a custom build dignitary - so that people who've played/run this encounter *cough* more then 4 times *cough* could experience something new and because it's easy I copied most of the background of an existing dignitary including the name.
It's First and Last name, but I've never used the last name. And partway through the scenario I started adding the -too (since it's the 2nd version of the dignitary) to distinguish it a bit more and never updated the slide info

And I'm slightly dyslexic when it comes to sci-fi/fantasy names and there's no spellcheck for those either so I tend to mess up the spelling at random times as well.

I am fine with the small issues with the name changing. Considering Baurquathus goes by Bar about 80% of the time, and Baurquathus the other 20%...and then when I switch persona's and go into the Icon of Ticcus, he has a different name and personality, it didn't phase me.

I am glad you are using the custom dignitary. I liked this aspect of Acts of Association. I just wish the actual 'encounters' were more fluid. If the people at Paizo can get a mesh between Ashes of Discovery and this one for a replayable scenario I would be in heaven.

I know they write these so that they are all self contained, but I would really like a little more open-endedness from some replayable scenarios (Example, Beacon Code Dilemma is good once, but there is little major changes to make it feel different).

Sharni-too is a good custom one. I liked how it wasn't the dignitary at all, but his daughter. Revvy, keep up the awesome work. So far every game I have been at with you as a GM (so far I think 2 total including this one) I have really enjoyed ;-)

FYI, I will be at a local con over the weekend, so my posting will be limited. I will try to get in updates by phone when I can, but any longer posts may have to wait until late night or early mornings.

Just a reminder, I am on vacation as of tomorrow. I will have access to internet Saturday, Sunday, most of Monday and maybe Wednesday. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday I won't. I will be back home on October 5th to continue with normal posting.

The 'enjoyment' of a cruise up the Eastern US and Canada is definitely needed.

Okay...I might be able to post anything in 10 hours....when I get back from my excursion, though probably not much will happen until later in posting....but realistically consider me gone until Saturday.

So my post might be because of being really really tired. Just got back from a cruise...that final port was New York, New York...and I can see no reason in hades to want to actually live in that city...maybe not even go visit. Crazy is an understatement (And I have been to San Fran, San Diego, Chicago and Tokyo...so Big cities are one thing.....New York is in it's own universe....).

I will likely post a real post tomorrow morningish once I get over a bit of ship and jet lag, and get some sleep.
