I should probably be working on Siege anyway. :P
Yeah, I'm a little more focused on getting ready to run demos than I am on Gameday. I expect to be doing more prep for this post-GenCon (especially if I don't have a new a job by then :P)
GM Batpony |
Checking in! Sorry for the late check in, was busy with family and work over the last month but I should be up and running by end of today!
GM Dennis |
No worries, glad you're here. I won't really get going ton the infrastructure stuff here until after GenCon anyway.
Our Mysterious Benefactor |
Not for I. Do we have an ETA? I imagine once everyone is back in the office from GenCon that things will begin happening again.
GM Dennis |
I wish I had an ETA. I would be surprised if it were this week. Given that they haven't even gotten the PF2 launch scenarios out to VOs yet, I suspect they have bigger fish to fry while half of their staff is still making their way back/recovering from GenCon. I know Tonya is out this week, too.
GM Z..D.. |
For some reason I thought we started on the twelfth. I will resume my freak out about the scenario drop once we get closer.

I would love to see more signups for my Discord game on Roll for Combat, only have 1 signed up for the 3-4 slot last I checked. I’m good at teaching Discord-style play for anyone that wants to make the leap, possibly one of the most experienced GMs in the specific medium.
how do the logistics of this work? you set a time we can all be in front of cpu and we use voice over discord?

It's just like pbp, you type out your action and there are bots for dice rolls. ends up being just a little bit faster and more conversational because of the format. i dig it.
GM PDK |
Hello everyone,
I'll be away the week we start this (i.e. week of Aug 26). If the start date is Sep 2 then there would be no problem; if we keep it to Aug 26 I will only be able to check in at most once a day with spotty connection. If you don't mind me having a 'slow start' that first week and letting the players roleplay a little, then everything should be fine. However if the coordination between tables is intense and frequent at the beginning, I may require a substitute GM to cover for me during that week.
Regards,
GM PDK
GM Dennis |
This isn't the kind of thing we can 'slow-start'. Like in person MTS specials, this is a timed event, scheduled out over the course of Gameday (we use a conversion of 1 day of PbP for every 6 minutes of in-person time). I'll have the schedule up soon, but we need to launch on the 26th.
Backups, please speak up if you'd like to take on the first week here. We can split it up if need be. PDK, what days do you need coverage for, 8/26-?
GM Fuzzfoot |
I can cover this one. Just PM your thread and I can jump in to get acquainted.
GM Dennis |
Thanks, Fuzzfoot. You can find a link to PDK's table in the 'GM Tiers & Link' document at the top of this page.
GM Dennis |
Absolutely, sorry about that. I started making one this morning and got distracted. HERE it is (also linked at the top of the page).
For those of you that haven't done one of these specials before, here's how it works: *after* you have made arrangements with one of the backups, please block off your name in that backup's column, so that we can see who is available when. Marking down your name is not a substitute for arranging it first (you can ask for a backup by posting in this thread).

8/26 to 9/1 - sorry for the inconvenience but I'd rather provide early warning than drag the game down during that week.
GM Dennis |
No worries, definitely better to get it figured out ahead of time. This is exactly what we recruit backups for. Since Fuzzfoot said they could cover I've gone ahead and blocked off those days in their column on the backup calendar.
GM Netherpongo |
New to this: we only need the backup link if we need a backup? Or do I need to check it out anyway?
GM Dennis |
You could click on it just to see what it looks like, but you don't need it unless you need a backup.
GM Netherpongo |
Just thought of another question. Do we already know our end date for this? It would be nice to know for scheduling purposes.
Grandmaster TOZ |
November 3rd is the end of the gameday, so we are supposed to wrap up by then. I think this is all one slot rather than separated.
GM Dennis |
I'll try to get the schedule hammered out today and let you know. It should take roughly 45 days, so some time in October.
GM Dennis |
Sorry for the delay in the schedule. I've posted it in the Gameplay thread. As presented, we have a total of 44 days, ending October 9th. The last section of this scenario has variable timing, beginning a 40 minute (~7 days in PbP) countdown once two conditions are triggered. Be prepared for our ending date to shift a day or two in either direction, based on how things go.
GM Dennis |
You'll notice that I only scheduled 1 day for Part 1 (listed as 15 minutes). I encourage you to start mustering now, if you have not yet done so, and get character introductions going and such. Also, begin collecting the information about who has played what tapestry scenarios now, don't wait until the official start.
On Monday the 26th, I will post the overseer text for the beginning of part 1. I suggest at that point you post a list of all of the prep missions, along with the acceptable skills for each. Have each player roll one check for each mission and indicate whether they are aiding or making a primary roll. Then you can compile the results for your table. Don't go one-by-one or you'll never get it done in PbP.
GM Dennis |
As for getting you the scenario...I'm afraid I don't have any update. I know Hmm is working on it, so hopefully the answer is 'soon'.

Do you have a list of all these scenarios? do you know how it impacts the scenario/plot?
GM Valen |
Should we inquire which PCs or players have played any of those scenarios during mustering?

Scenario List Extracted from Grandmaster TOZ map
#3-12 Wonders in the Weave I
#3-14 Wonders in the Weave II
#3-20 Rats of Round Mountain I
#3-21 Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment
#3-22 Rats of Round Mountain II
#6-21 Tapestry’s Trial
#6-97 Siege of Serpent
I'm assuming they're are to be on either the character being played and/or the ones being brought into play?
GM Dennis |
On the PC being played. Having at least one character at the table that has played a scenario creates some sort of change when visiting that part of the tapestry in this scenario (usually a slight bonus for the PCs). For example, when visiting Slave Mountain:
Chronicle Adjustments: If any of the PCs have completed Pathfinder Society Scenario #6–21: Tapestry’s Toil, the duergar— including the undead leaders—recognize them. Instead of defending the siphoning stone, they focus their attacks on these hated PCs, risking everything for revenge. Among the prisoners is Swareti, a wayang whom the PCs freed in their previous mission at Slave Mountain. If the PCs rescue Swareti again, the wayang gladly helps with the investigation of the siphoning stone. The PCs gain a +2 bonus on checks to investigate the stone and can make them untrained.
GM Dennis |

Yes, you should inquire who has played each of those with this PC. There is a handout in the scenario meant for collecting this information at a F2F table, but obviously you don't need that for PbP.
nightdeath |
oh lol. I can just imagine what happens if only one PC has that.
Anime style: all the bad guys glare at that poor PC with glimmering hate filled stares....

As an RVC I can see the Con Support Backlog has almost caught up and that Play-by-Post Gameday VIII is on the top of the list (together with 5 other conventions) and will likely receive their support today.

#6-21 is Tapestry's Toil. Tapestry's Trial takes place after this special.

Any suggestions for where to have the players meet in preparation? My Discord table looks mostly mustered, and I'd like to get them introducing themselves.
I just put em on a table in a "lodge".
GM Blazej |
Thanks for catching that!
I appreciate you pulling that all together. Makes this set up a lot easier.
