"This is Waters of Lamashtu. Unholy water that can transform someone into a monstrous version of themselves. We could collect it and use it as a weapon. But I think it's better to get rid of it somehow. Though I'm not sure how to best do that. Lamashtu is the mother of monstes and it seems like she is actively worshipped here." Acharn remarks after a moment spent in quiet contemplation.

And Grulyn steps back to give a nice hard swing on the bowl. (if no one stops him) He Swings at the bowl and then proceeds to chip away at the alter to deface it, in hopes that will ruin the altars powers.

"Is this ... is this wise? Is this mother of monsters likely to be angered by this? I don't know that I want to make a god angry..."

Grulyn:
You swing your axe and as it arcs down, you see an image form in the surface of the murky water. A silver-haired woman of unearthly beauty looks up at you and her face twists in rage just before the axe crashes down, cleaving through the basin.

Grulyn's axe strikes the altar with an deafening clang that echoes through the narrow passages of the catacombs and cleaves through the edge of the carved basin. The Waters of Lamashtu flow out onto the gray stone steps beneath his boots.

Simflay voices hesitant words of caution, her lack of confidence preventing her from taking a stronger stance against defacing the unholy altar. But then suddenly, almost as if summoned by her fear of retribution, the southeast door crashes open as a Wrathspawn comes charging through.

"Infidels!" A voice screeches from the doorway, both high in pitch and grating like a rasp on stone.
"You dare to intrude upon the Mother's Sanctum? Defile Her graven image, despoil Her blessings and desecrate Her altar!! I vow that Her children will suckle on your blood!!!" Your eyes struggle for a moment to pinpoint the source of the terrible voice, but finally you focus on a flapping of wings. A housecat sized fiend hovers in the air, it's tiny head crowned by ram-like horns. She motions for the Wrathspawn to attack and begins moving her claws in a casting motion before pointing at Grulyn.

The dwarf finds himself unable to move or speak!
Grulyn is paralyzed. He can roll a new save each round on his turn to escape the hold of the spell but will expend that round's action even if he succeeds.

The Wrathspawn charges at Acharn, snapping it's deformed mandibles at the elf but he is easily able to dodge it's bites. The fiend begins casting again.

Knowledge(Planes) DC 17:
The flying fiend is a Quasit, though this one appears to have some differences from the standard variety. Quasits are immune to electricity and poison and resistant to other types of elemental damage. They are weak to cold iron and good aligned weapons and are known to be extremely wily foes as they can turn invisible at will and have the ability to heal quickly.

He moves to the south, to get in better position to flank next turn and starts chanting in elvish: "Kauniit varit sokeavat ja tuhoavat viholliseni!"

A brilliant spray of colours burst forth, enveloping both creatures in front of him.

Acharn is correct, the Ranseur is merely Masterwork. No special material.

"Ahh!" ... Simflay cries out in horror at the sudden sight of the small demon and yet another wrathspawn. She can't help but feel, coming as it does right on the heels of the smashing of the basin, that somehow these things have been summoned by the angry goddess.

Nonetheless, determined to help, she reaches out to Masdok and touches his weapon, intoning quietly in that breathy tongue she has used before, "Iritosha dua Venshio Shuishua Malnna-sa"

Masdok feels a rush of air as a small burst of wind travels up the haft of the weapon before settling its magic into its head.

Cast Magic Weapon - Magic weapon gives a weapon a +1 enhancement bonus on attack and damage rolls. An enhancement bonus does not stack with a masterwork weapon’s +1 bonus on attack rolls. This lasts for two minutes

I am sure it does not matter, but my Will save is a +8 with another +2 vs. spell and spell like abilities due to being a dwarf .

A will save of 15 might be enough to save against the hold person, so you could post what you wanted to do if it was enough? Then bluedove could just resolve what actually happened. How are you getting +8 by the way? +3 from class, +2 from wis and +2 from cha is +7. There must be a +1 I'm missing somewhere.

Whoops! I did make a mistake there, didn't I? I think I C&P'ed a will save of Acharn's and changed the name but not the bonus. It won't have mattered in this instance, but do correct me when you see a mistake like that.

Masdok strikes a mighty blow on the wrathspawn with the aid of Simflay's spell. He steps forward to crowd the fiend with the hopes to interrupt her next spell while Acharn casts his colorspray to no effect.
The strength of Grulyn's will powers through to break the spell's hold on him, just in time to look down and see the puff of sulfurous smoke appear along with a strange creature which has been freshly summoned at his feet.
It looks like a wild dog of some variety, something like a jackal, though it is the size of a fully grown wolf. A low growl begins in it's throat as it looks up at Grulyn and opens a third eye in the center of it's brow. The quasit calls a command and it lunges for the dwarf, only to be rebuffed by his sturdy armor.

She sneers at Masdok, flaps her wings and flies backward, back into the room she came from. (She used a full round withdraw, so no AoO)

The wrathspawn snaps it's strange mandibles at Acharn again, but far more weakly than before.

"Come on Sim, stick with them..." Simflay mutters to herself as she steps up behind Masdok and Acharn, though she really really doesn't want to get any closer to the hideous wrathspawn.

She reaches out her hand and speaks in that breathy tongue again "Avoss shuishua esa omem"

A small puff of air leaps from her hand and blows across Masdok's shoulders and he feels a tiny spark of insight, ready to help him when needed.

The little wasp buzzes around the vile creature, trying to distract it from hitting it's master. Acharn tumbles underneath the creature, trying to avoid it striking at him as he moves into position to flank with Masdok. Once in position the elf jabs out with his rapier, striking at the vulnerable backside of the creatures.

Simflay calls on her ancestor for guidance, Masdok takes a step back and lunges at the wrathspawn with his magically enhanced spear, but the creature sidesteps to avoid the spearhead. Acharn tumbles beneath the wrathspawn to gain an advantageous position and nearly puts himself at risk. But he just manages to make it past the creatures defenses and then stabs it with his rapier, putting an end to the aberrant monstrosity. Grulyn strikes the fiendish, three-eyed jackal but instead of the expected yelp, it utters an unearthly roar. It lunges low and sinks it's teeth into the dwarf's leg and thrashes his feet out from beneath him.
I did take into account that Grulyn's CMD vs trip is 18, but the beast still manages it. Grulyn takes 13 damage and is knocked prone!

Going to go ahead and update since Grulyn's action is likely to be all movement. Acharn, that's the first time you've drawn your crossbow, so it's unlikely it should have been loaded, but I'll let it stand. Also you need a +1 BAB to combine drawing a weapon with a move action, otherwise it is a move action on it's own. Your sheet lists a +1 BAB, but I'm not sure where you're getting it from since neither wizard nor unchained rogue should have it at level 1. Thus, repositioning you to have only taken a 5-foot step before firing.

The next room is huge and looks like nothing more than an immense underground cathedral. Stone doors stand to either side of the main entrance, but beyond this, the walls are carved with strange, spiky runes. In the center of the room is a large pool, with a ring of polished human skulls balanced on stone spikes arranged in a circle around the deeper midsection. At the far end of the room, a pair of stone stairways leads up to a pulpit on which sits a second pool, this one triangular and filled with churning, bubbling water that looks almost like translucent lava. Yet while wisps of what look like heat and steam rise from the strange orange liquid, the room itself is deathly cold.

Simflay moves quickly to aid her prone companion, healing him with her magic. Masdok also steps closer to help the dwarf, stabbing the fiendish jackal with his spear. The creature emits a low whine and then vanishes, presumably back to wherever it came from. Acharn takes a step into the next room and drops his rapier so he might draw his crossbow. He aims at the tiny, distant figure and fires, hoping to disrupt the quasit's spell. His bolt grazes her, opening a small slice along her leg. She determinedly keeps casting as a drop of blood falls from the wound into the strange triangular vat beneath her. There is a flare of light and then the glow appears to lessen as it begins to churn and boil with activity.

As she completes her spell, another canine appears, though smaller than the previous one. The quasit looks down and wipes the blood from her leg, which reveals smooth, unharmed skin beneath. She snarls at Acharn, "That cost will be paid in blood, elf!" She directs the three-eyed dog to attack and then casts again, disappearing from sight. The soft flap of small wings the only indication that she is still there.

The dog runs down the stairs and tries to bite Acharn, but it's teeth snap down on a piece of his clothing instead.

Sense Motive DC 20:
The quasit did not seem surprised by the pool's reaction to her blood, but does seem concerned over the sudden dimming of it's light.

She cast invisibility on herself, of course.

The quasit did not seem surprised by the pool's reaction to her blood, but did seem concerned over the sudden dimming of it's light.

Simflay calls upon her ancestors to guide Grulyn's axe as Masdok moves to the back of the room. Acharn steps back and loads his crossbow and fires a bolt into the three-eyed canine, severely wounding it. Grulyn capitalizes on the sylph's magical aid and just manages to clip the beast with his axe, felling it.

The glowing vat beneath the Quasit burbles and churns with increasing activity until it disgorges a Wrathspawn! The creature takes a moment to get it's bearings and then launches itself at Masdok, opening it's aberrant maw wide. It snaps down onto his arm, shredding the flesh with it's many rows of terrible teeth. Masdok gets an AoO as it moves toward him, if he can kill it, damage will be negated. Otherwise, Masdok takes 6 damage, putting him at 16 hp.

The rustle of tiny wings tells you the Quasit is moving. Soon you hear the familiar notes of her screeching incantations. She pops back into view, fluttering above the large pool in the middle of the room as she releases some sort of spell in a burst surrounding her. Grulyn seems unaffected by whatever she casts and his proximity seems to bolster his allies against the effect, but Acharn and Masdok stare with wide, fearful eyes at the tiny Quasit.

No sense in waiting for Acharn to also run away, so off we go!

Simflay casts again to heal her dwarven compatriot's wounds as Masdok and Acharn turn and run past her through the door, their faces tight and eyes wide with fear. Grulyn bravely wades partway into the shallow pool and swings for the hovering Quasit, but she evades him easily. She begins to cackle as she watches the elf and the Shoanti run for their lives. "Follow your friends and flee my realm if you want to live, Stonehead! If you go now, I will not harry you til the end of days for debasing the Mother's altar!" She croons sweetly with a wicked grin as she flutters nearby. The Wrathspawn trots down the stairs to close on Simflay, snapping it's serrated mandibles in excitement.

If he refuses her generous offer, the Quasit slashes at him with her tiny claws in hateful fury. Grulyn takes 2 hits and 1 damage. XD

Staring at the Wrathspawn almost as if mesmerised by it's hideous visage, Simflay nonetheless reaches out towards Grulyn, intending to bolster him with her magic yet again.

She almost stumbles over the words as the Wrathspawn snaps it's mandibles near her, it's vile saliva splashing on her armor. But she steadies herself and manages to finish. Grulyn feels a brief stir of air on his neck and is touched with a sense of potential.

Guidance for Grulyn. So he gets a +1 competence bonus on a single attack roll, saving throw, or skill check. He must choose to use the bonus before making the roll to which it applies. The spell lasts for 1 minute or until discharged.

That done, she will 5' step up next to Masdok, intending to do the same for him.

Simflay bestows the guidance of her ancestors on Grulyn. Masdok returns from his brief tour of the hallway and takes a stab at the Quasit, but she just avoids his spear. Acharn makes his way all the way to the statue room before he shakes off his fright and begins the log jog back to the cathedral. Grulyn calls Torag’s might down upon the miniscule demon and strikes a smiting blow. The Quasit shrieks in pain and hisses, ”You spit on my mercy! I will remember that when you beg for death!”

The Wrathspawn turns on Grulyn and unleashes it’s fury, biting and slashing at him with teeth and claws. It latches onto him with its strange arm-like mandibles, it’s sinful nature seeping into his flesh like saliva and sickening the Paladin. Grulyn takes 6 damage and is sickened for 3 minutes.

The Quasit tumbles through the air as she retreats to avoid Grulyn's axe and Masdok's spear. She ascends near the ceiling and disappears over the balcony.

Having arrived next to Masdok, Simflay glances back through the door, hoping to see some sign of Acharn, but can see nothing. Fighting down down a rising feeling of panic, she nonetheless steels herself and reaches out to try and bolster Masdok with her magic.

As with Grulyn, Masdok feels a small gust of air travel from Simflay to him and he is touched with a sense of potential.

Guidance for Masdok. So he gets a +1 competence bonus on a single attack roll, saving throw, or skill check. He must choose to use the bonus before making the roll to which it applies. The spell lasts for 1 minute or until discharged.

Seeing that Grulyn has been wounded by the tiny demon, she moves down to the edge of the pool, both to get out of Masdok's away and to get close enough to heal the dwarf should he need it.

"At least I hope that's what I will be able to do," she thinks to herself. "I am so tired, I don't know how much more I will be able to do this..."

Unable to reach the quasit from his current position, Masdok growls in frustration, then turns his attention to the sinspawn and stabs at it.

Simflay continues to call on the Guidance of her Ancestors to aid her friends. Masdok strikes a massive blow and virtually obliterates the Wrathspawn. It splashes to the floor in pieces. Then all is quiet for a moment as if the Cathedral is holding it's breath.
Grulyn, you get to move again for last round since the Wrathspawn was down.
