On the way to the priest Acharn tells Simflay more of what he knows about what was written in the journal.

Once he's done listening to the answers from the priest he says. "We just though we should let you know how dire a threat we face. These aren't just a band of goblins. Worshipers of Lamasthu could have dangerous backing."

Next day Acharn prepares his spells before setting out. "I'm ready. I'll lead the way, let's go down the tunnel behind the button first. Simflay, you said you could provide magical light right? Can you use it on me?"

"I'll try to stay hidden in the shadows so whatever we encounter can't see me. If we do end up fighting, we'll hopefully be able to gain the upper hand by me approaching from stealth." He mutters a quick arcane incantation and shuffles ahead, just out of range of the brightest torchlight.

On the trip out of the tunnel and then back down again to join the others, Acharn can't help but notice that Simflay does indeed have magical light. In fact she uses it a lot. Renewing it every 20 minutes, or possibly a little before that time runs out. She seems somewhat ill at ease in the tunnel and keeping the light going seems to make it slightly more tolerable for her.

When she and Acharn rejoin Masdok and Grulyn she lets them know that the priest has been alerted.

"Well, we have spoken to the Father. He, at least, is now more aware of the peril that Sandpoint is in. We can only hope that he does something with the knowledge, and can convince people to take action."

With that, she will renew her light spell again, and follow along with Grulyn.

The Smuggler's tunnel winds lazily toward the Northeast for a little over 1,750 feet before reaching a dead end, but Grulyn is aware of the door here. Going through the door, it opens into a 30-foot-diameter cave that overlooks a cliff over the Varisian Gulf. There is a narrow beach where the cave mouth slopes down, with a collection of crude goblin beds and the remains of their meals strewn around the cave. There are two caves that lead off of this cave, in addition to the way the group came. One to the east into darkness, and one to the west that goes about 50 feet before turning toward the North and everything else being out of sight.

"We should look around to see if there is any more information or useful equipment here. Would hate to miss another item like that journal..." Acharn says as he carefully steps into the encampment to look around, on the lookout for traps or useful stuff.

A bit wierd that you guys made it to level 2 without finding any treasure at all. Would make sense to find some gear at some point soon.

Before continuing to follow the tracks he pulls up a scroll. "I should get some better protection in case we end up in combat." He chants an arcane incantation and a protective layer of force settles around him.

Use scroll of mage armor, lasts for an hour.

Gonna move things forward at this point.

Following the trail, it goes down the western tunnel and then passes through what looks like an area that was bricked up once, but broken through. Continuing 50 feet, the corridor turns to the north and continues for another 100 feet before you come to a chamber off of the cave to the east. The cave continues to the north.

I assume the search of the goblin camp turned up empty then? I was waiting for the results of that before posting more. Do you happen to have a map over what we've passed through so far? I'm getting a bit confused.

Just to be clear - its a cave with a knocked out wall down a small narrow tunnel, there hasn't been any goblin encampment yet... this is the first thing you see from the tunnel from the glassworks - it leads to a cave that has two exits but no signs of anybody staying there, as it would be too tight - the tunnels are no wider than 5 feet all the way there, so the tracks are just passing through - the entire tunnel from the glassworks leads to the southwest corner of this map. In a way, your not even out of the tunnel yet... The confusion I believe comes from the fact that the encampment was mentioned in the journal.

Simflay looks quite uncomfortable the whole time the group is in these narrow tunnels. She renews her light spell, casting it on weapon or shield of whoever is taking point.

As the party passes through the previously bricked up entrance, she will quietly activate her Air Barrier ability, giving herself an AC bonus for 2 hours.

Standing in the room is a figure, hairless and standing on back-bent, dog-like legs. It's hideous mouth with it's lower jaw splitting in two is flanked by two additional smaller hands coming out of it's chin, along with the claws of it's main arms as it looks like it's guarding the room as when it sees you, it clicks it's strange mouth together.

I think Acharn was sneaking ahead of the others. Though it would be kind of wierd to enter combat if we're all still unnoticed... Another formation we were discussing earlier was Acharn and Masdok in the front and Grulyn and Simflay behind. Up to you which way you want to handle it.

Both Archan and Aldran see this creature and know straight away that it is a sinspawn. They both also know that this one is the most common of the sinspawn, a wrathspawn. They also both know that they can sense things that reflect that, such as someone raging.

Aldran also knows that their bite can overwhelm the victim with sinful thoughts that can make one sick.

"A wrathspan! This wicked creature feeds on people's anger!" Acharn mutters an arcane incantation to hurl a glob of acid at the creature, holding up a flask of acid as a focus as he does so.

acid splash vs flat footed touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 acid damage: 1d3 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 1 + (4) = 7

After throwing the acid he moves across the entrance to the cave, going further into the tunnels so they can pincer the spawn in a flanking position if it comes into the tunnel.

As Archon sneaks around, the sinspawn looks in the direction, but doesn't seem to spot him. The rest of you have yet to past the cavern, but Archon does see the creature guarding the chamber, keeping to the shadows.

So, over to you guys - if you want to try and sneak past it you can make stealth checks to see if you avoid it, but Archon's acid splash will be happening at the [i]end[i] of this round as his at the end of the initiative order.

So the sinspawn is next up after my attack right? I don't think it can reach me and attack me in the same round, but it might be able to reach the others.

The sinspawn notices movement so goes to investigate where the splash that missed it came from, seeing Masdok towards the end of its turn, it jumps towards him and tries to bite him.

Sinspawn bite attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

The sinspawn bites into Masdok's neck, and as he bites Masdok is filled with thoughts of destruction.

Sinspawn bite damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Masdok Will save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

As the Wrathspawn withdraws its teeth, Masdok recognises the sinful thoughts and is sick at the thought of him committing such acts.

Masdok's sickened duration: 1d6 ⇒ 5 minutes

The sinspawn has 40 feet of movement so could just make it next to Masdok - here's the updated map. Over to you guys

Smite evil: If it is evil I get a +2 to hit and +2 On damage(+4 if evil outsider, evil dragon or undead) and I also get a +2 deflection bonus to AC until it's dead.

Simflay looks very nervous at the suggestion, but steels herself...

She sets her crossbow carefully on the floor (pointing away from the rest of the group), take a moment to cast Light on a spare crossbow bolt, and setting her foot in Grulyn's hands, attempt to get up high enough to see what is up there.

Looking up through the hole, you find it leads to the floor of some sort of cell. It is a rather large room, that was obviously once some type of prison, as you can see other identical cells nearby. To the east, there is a rickety wooden platform that overlooks the entire room, with a flight of stairs just to the right and outside the cell. There is a walkway at the top of the stairs that after going north for 5 feet, turns to the east. The destination of this platform is hard to see from this angle.
