Cyclic
|
Cyclic is free as a bird, I kept my commitment to the game day low - only two characters signed up right now. Looking forward to playing part IV.
Altorin
|
I am planning on starting Part IV of this series on Monday. I believe after everyone levels (who hasn't yet), we will be at Subtier 3-4, so a bit more level appropriate challenges.
That said, I also realize this third part went longer than I anticipated and we have run up to near the start of Gameday VIII on August 26th.
If no one is planning to use these characters in a game there then we can start on Monday with Part IV of this series. If several of you have committed to play in a Gameday scenario with these characters then I am willing to postpone this game until it is complete (early November).
Let me know what you think!
Sounds good to me. Thanks again for investing in the long haul and running the series of adventures for all of us. It's been more successful than some campaign events I've joined.
Altorin doesn't have any looming dates ahead of him, so he's ready to go. I'm flexible though, if the group needs to delay for a bit.
Qiroyo Darudo
|
Qiroyo stays, too.
Dayjob Librarian: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
Cyclic
|
basket weaving: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Cyclic
|
Cyclic is updated to level 4 and ready to go. Doubled her spells with that level. I'm having her buys some more wands too.
GM Erich
|
Belmiir dayjob: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Looks like everybody is keen to start again, so we will start late Sunday/Monday with the final part.
Eka
|
Eka is leveled up and all ready to go. She's not buying anything now.
I had been debating switching her archetype, but I couldn't give up the alignment-inspired role playing of this character. Instead I retrained Eka's first level feat and one of her traits to accommodate my long term plan for her. She'll be multi-classing to oracle at level 3, thus picking up some healing abilities and a bit more compassion for her fellow man peoples.
Eka

I will be out of town from Aug 8-11, and I won't be able to post. Please bot me as needed.
Sir Durant Aumarideth
|
I think I'm going to pick up an oil of daylight. That should be strong enough to overcome the derro darkness effects we've been running into.
Qiroyo Darudo
|
I've ben sick all wekk and don't have the power or drive to contribute right now. Please bot me, I'll be back next week.
Eka
|
And I'm back, so our fearless GM won't need to bot half the party!
Get well soon, Qiroyo! And have fun Altorn!
GM Erich
|
I am off on a business trip for the next couple of days, so my posts may be spotty. Go ahead and do what you wish to get in the room with the dead creature and we will go from there.
Cyclic
|
Yikes. This thing is nasty. Are you sure these are the right stats for a party of 5 with an average level of 2.6?
GM Erich
|
According to the guide, 2.6 rounds to 3 so we are in the proper sub tier and this is the correct entry for this encounter. That said this scenario is very dangerous at this subtier (notorious even) and not just this encounter. Remember that there are alternatives to straight up slugfests. I am willing to reward creative thinking or tactics. Also, if things start to go very bad, retreat. I know this is just the internet but I am on your side and am not thirsty for a tpk if we can avoid it.
GM Erich
|
Feel free to roll your attacks of opportunity before deciding what to do next. Note that Altorin's elemental blast bypasses DR but also the slick has its benefits too. Overall, the monster can do more damage per round than the group can so proceed with caution. We can afford to talk a bit about tactics, no rush to finish.
Cyclic
|
If anyone has alchemist fire, it might work better than a traditional weapon attack considering the DR.
Altorin
|
If we're all in on this, Altorin will alternate blasts with Slick. The -4 for fighting prone won't do much, but at least it'll prevent a full attack if it decides to stand up. I'm tempted to suggest moving around to force it to stand up, but that might be negated by the AoO for retreating and moving into melee range. Unless we go full range?
Sir Durant Aumarideth
|
I do have a couple alchemist's fires I could toss in, though there would be a lot of actions between now and the point when I could actually use it. I'm thinking I may just have to tank for a minute here. Guess we'll see how far Lay on Hands will take me!
Cyclic
|
Yep. I guess you didn't notice. I drew the round last turn and started the summons this turn.
Tough choice between beefing up AC in a front liner, Cure Moderate Wounds, and adding meat shields!
Eka
|
Eka has a few acid flasks, but since acid is associated with the earth element, I would guess that the elemental would be resistant or immune to it.
Sir Durant Aumarideth
|
A tactical retreat is definitely starting to sound like a good idea. Might try that next round, assuming Durant doesn't get KO'd.
Cyclic
|
Durant just got 17 HP putting him at 22 HP and can probably survive an attack, particularly if it stands up and only gets one. And hopefully all those alchemist fires will whittle it down some.
Sir Durant Aumarideth
|
Ah! I missed the LoH from when Erich botted me. That makes me feel a bit better.
Qiroyo Darudo
|
I'm running out of daily resources, too
Eka
|
Yeah, tactical retreat sounds good.
GM Erich
|
Honestly, this is the other notorious encounter, so do as much damage as quickly as you can and hope it doesn't paralyze you.
GM Erich
|
So with that little gut-punch of a note, our journey has come to an end.
Unfortunately, two of you were bit by the rats and Eka by the ghoul so we have some diseases after the fact to take account of. Knowing the severity of the ghoul fever, I'll assume Eka uses two antiplagues to help get rid of it (as well as everyone chipping in to help her treat disease using the heal skill). We will need the help, because at DC 19 (needing two consecutive saves with a d3 Con damage every time you fail), this thing can kill quickly!
Qiroyo onset vs rat disease: 1d3 ⇒ 1
Eka onset vs rat disease: 1d3 ⇒ 3
Day One Using an antiplague (didn't need the extra save on this day though)
Qiroyo fort save vs rat disease: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Heal checks from group to treat Eka's disease: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 221d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 141d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 111d20 ⇒ 111d20 ⇒ 16
Eka fort save vs ghoul fever: 1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 + 4 = 22
Day Two Using an antiplague to get two saves
Qiroyo fort save vs rat disease: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Heal checks from group to treat Eka's disease: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 161d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 191d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 71d20 ⇒ 31d20 ⇒ 13
Eka fort save vs ghoul fever: 1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 4 = 17
Eka fort save vs ghoul fever: 1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 + 4 = 22
Day Three
Eka fort save vs rat disease: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Day Four
Eka fort save vs rat disease: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
------------------------------------------
As before, here are the boon rolls for the ones who didn't win yet.
Altorin: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Eka: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Qiroyo: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Sapphire Guardian
Scholar of the Sages/Model Pathfinder
Fighting Off Corruption(Ghoul)
Martial Tradition
@Altorin, Qiroyo, and Eka As I want to hand out one to each of the three of you, please give me a ranking of which ones you want, and I will follow the boon rolls to hand them out in order. Remember, there is a boon description link somewhere further up in the discussion thread.
----------------------
Thank you for the pleasure of taking you all through these four scenarios. I enjoyed it very much on my end. Thank you for keeping up with the continuous pace for eight whole months (an average of 4.8 posts per day, not too shabby!)
The best of luck on all your future adventures!
Feel free to role-play out whatever you wish in game and I will mark this inactive in a few days. Don't forget to roll your day jobs here, too!

Thank you so much for running this. If you ever start another game, I'll try to enter it :)
I think you forgot my natural +4 vs. disease, but it didn't matter at the end.
Back to my books then:
Day Job, Profession (Librarian): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
I guess I like the Scholar of the Sage most. 2nd Martial Tradition, 3rd Sapphire Guardian.
Cyclic

Yes, thanks so much. You emailing the chronicles? I have up to part 2, and I'm not sure what happened to part 3 and have cleared out my yahoo box recently.
GM Erich
|
@Cyclic I can send the part 3 chronicle to you again when I do these ones.
Cyclic
|
thx
Eka
|
Thanks for running this series for us. I really enjoyed it. We have a good team here, and I'd love to play with any of you again. :)
Profession (hired guard): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
For boons, Fighting Off Corruption(Ghoul) seems like a perfect thematic first choice for Eka, followed by Martial Tradition and Model Pathfinder.
I've subtracted 50gp from Eka's purse for a second vial of antiplague. She will grimace appropriately as she forces the vile liquids down her throat.
Cyclic
|
I think that last day job roll I made was for the previous chronicle, so...
basket weaving day job: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
portfolio reroll
basket weaving day job: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Sir Durant Aumarideth

Well, suck! Durant's grudge against the Aspis is definitely not going anywhere after this little twist of the knife!
Anyway, thank you to our illustrious GM for running us through this outstanding series of scenarios! And thanks as well to all my amazing fellow players! I look forward to gaming with you all in the future!
Now to make some cash!
Day Job - Diplomacy: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 34

Thanks again for taking on the task of running multiple scenarios together. It really helps to have them back to back to maintain continuity.
@All - Sorry, this is my first kineticist, so sorry if he ended up being a 1-2 trick pony. I'm guessing that's just the nature of the class, though.
Too bad there isn't a scenario to regain some face against the Aspis to carry on :)
GM Erich
|
@Altorin The slick actually came in very handy a bunch of times.
I have reported the game to Paizo and sent the chronicles and boons. Let me know if there are any issues by email.
Thanks again everyone for making the four scenarios run smooth.
Eka
|
@Altorin: Honestly, that slick ability comes in really handy against monsters with low Dex, like mummies. That I can say from experience.
Cyclic

Thanks. I got both of my chronicles stashed now. All 4 if you count parts 1 and 2.
Ditto for the thanks for running all 4 parts.
