I honestly think we should stop running flat footed ;) THey shoot with +8 modifier, which means That they hit Baragh at 9+ roll. When you are flat-footed they hit you at 5+ roll. What is more, it is more likely that they will both shot at whoever is flat-footed. If you go to find cover until you can make a charge increase the number of shots that might be fired at you.
As always that is my opinion feel free to do as you will ;) I will allow myself to carry your upper body as the new Civ :P

For the next 3 days, I will be away. So I will be able to check the games on my phone only. That can diminish the quality of my posts and potentially length of them. For which I am sorry.

Since we are getting towards the end I want to check if I've got everyone's reporting information correct or if I'm missing something.
Can everyone check to see if what's written down here is correct for them please.

Does anyone have a dayjob that I've overlooked?
Since this is part of Outpost II there's a chance of player boons, by the instructions I've received;
If you do this, the GM roll is first, and all players follow in alphabetical order. A roll of a 19 or a 20 earns a player boon.
GM/Me: 1d20 ⇒ 20
Baragh: 1d20 ⇒ 9
Kaeon: 1d20 ⇒ 15
LA64397F: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Mec-01: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Reticent Stroidjumper: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Vecro: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Instructions if you roll a 19-20:
SFS: Roll 1d2.
1 - Light spore torpedo launcher -- Gain a weapon you can add to your ship
2 - Mystical Guidance Systems -- For gunnery, someone on your ship can use mysticism and wisdom instead of piloting and dex. This is the boon almost every mystic wants for starship combat!

GM, where were our day jobs? I don't think it was on the google excel file where we signed up...and I don't see it in the discussion page here.
I can roll a day job for you if I am right and I didn't do one already.

Profession (Priest): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28 +6 for ranks and such, +5 for the combo of professional clothing + toolkit (profession).

[dice=Day Job roll]1d20+10
I looked up what your dayjob was because I was curious what you'd use for it and all I can find is Profession (Grifter) 6 ..wouldn't that mean that you'd roll with a +6 instead of a +10? Unless I'm missing something that helps with you being a better Grifter?

Apparently I was trying to grift but that didn't work. Good job on that sense motive.
Actual Day Job roll: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

I've starting sending out PM's with links to your chronicles. And I'll report the game after I'm done with that.
Please check if I've done everything correctly (I've been known to make copy&paste errors before) and let me know if I should fix something.
I'll close down the thread somewhere next week after everyone has had enough time to get their chronicle.
It was fun to GM for you guys and I hope you all had a good time playing.

I had a blast! Thanks for running, Revvy. It was a fantastic time and it was well executed for a first time PBP player. I hope I didn't annoy you all (Elle) with the RP. That's where my head space was for this little guy. Had some great players, you all were very fun and I hope to run into you all again in the future!

Thanks for the game I enjoyed it a lot. Thanks, Revvy for running it.
One thing that annoyed me a bit about this story is that the decision if we get a boon or not came down to a roll. So it doesn't really matter that we released 4 sarcasians at the end as we rolled low => sarcasians does not like us. After that roll, we could have killed the captured foes and sell them as meatballs and it would have no impact on the outcome just as letting them go.
Either way, as I said in the first sentence. I loved playing with you. Have great games in the future, and I hope that we will meet again.
Revvy Bitterleaf
|
Well, if you didn't release then you'd have had a +6 penalty to that roll. So releasing them did have an impact...just not enough to make up for rolling badly.
I agree that it's a shame that the boon is linked to a die roll/skill check.
And I just thought of this writing this down but you could have gambled that a take 10 would have been enough, so that would at least eliminate rolling badly.
Vecro

Yeah, I hear you. I completely forgot about taking 10. However when I reviewed the rules:
Also, you can’t take 10 when the GM rules that a situation is too hectic or that you are distracted, and taking 10 is almost never an option for a check that requires some sort of crucial effect as a key part of the adventure's story.
Which sound like you should make a roll in this case. My opinion is that it is fine to allow for ability roll to have a big impact on the story, but I am a big supporter of alternative routes. For example, let's say that with high enough diplomacy check you could make a deal with Mengian even before the combat. If you roll low then you need to fight him and after that, you go through the dilemma of releasing him or not. Which allow for a similar result if you are a half-wit warrior or an envoy, the difference in how you arrived there.
Overall what you can see here is me in baby rage. The crossed boon has a big sign saying: "You rolled 3 :P". Either way, it was still an enjoyable game which is the most important. Thank you all.

Vecro,
Weirdly in this scenario a dice roll was needed and nothing else(I haven't read/ran all scenarios, or even most), usually getting a race boon in the scenarios I have ran was usually something like 'did the party do X non-violently and Y successfully' or 'did the PC's vote for this', not a 'roll this DC roll or else cross off the boon'. Besides...most of us rolled bad--even if Mute has assisted, we probably were short (no pun intended--well not much of one).
Too bad you didn't have a reroll, or too bad that I didn't have Baragh be primary (which would make no sense, he knows he isn't a diplomat). Luck (and unluck) of the dice and all.
I would probably have to put that down as one of the negatives for the scenario writer/editor. Might be something that I mention in a review when I type one up.
I will have to look at this scenario in the next few weeks when I run it for my secret society groups, so I will at least get to see how Revvy made the sausage then ;-)
Revvy, had a lot of fun. Especially the whole Sniper's alley. BTW that is going to SUCK running IRL. I am going to find a Chromecast or something to put this on Roll20, or something. I am NOT going to have a Mondomat made up for this fight :-)
All, I had lots of fun with this scenario. Hopefully we can find more virtual tables to play at. Baragh will likely be one of those I shelf as a non-pbp character though, I have way to much acting him out IRL. But I have 2-3 characters that are near 100% pbp (or GM babies, or both). Hope to catch you around a virtual table sometime.

I would like to call you out on those: "I would love to play with you in the future". And check which out of those declarations were sincere :P
I will be looking for a PBP game for Vecro, any joiners? I will be looking for something low tier and as I just started the only scenarios that I went through or am/going through are (1-03, 1-04, 1-05, 1-07, 1-12 and 1-18). Meaning that I can play everything else.
I will wait with looking till Tuesday, so feel free to respond and I will add you to the party. If you want to join, please let me know which game you would want to play and I will try to make it work (either select which scenarios you would like or the opposite which scenarios you would not/cannot).
Revvy, of course, you are more than welcome to join. Baragh given that you have other heroes I would love for you to join me/us.

Thank you for GMing.
The chronicle is quite full of crosses, but that's so. Nevermind. That's the game.
Vecro: it's a good idea, but will GMing? Revvy?
Baragh Dented Helm

Vecro,
As I mentioned Baragh is mainly meant for IRL, but I can always use him in a pbp. He is now level 3 though, so with your level 1 it might be better for me to use one of my lvl 2's. Baurquathus (Pathra Operative 2) or one of the 2 other GM Babies I have (I can make about anything with them, though leaning toward another mystic or another mechanic....the mechanic would likely be a skittermander.....shudder).
I can probably replay one scenario with a nova if you really find one you want to group up with.
Vecro

Well, that is why I wrote that I will be looking for a game. So I give no guarantees if and when I will find something. If Revvy would like to GM more I would say awesome.
But I plan to announce on the following thread what we are after and see what is the outcome.

I was thinking of getting in on the new RSVP (or something that sounds like that) pbp program and run SFS 1-02 Fugitive on the Red Planet.
Going by Vecro's list it's either that or 1-10 The Half-alive Streets
(Other scenario's I have are 1-03, 1-04, 1-07, 1-12 and 1-18 - so basically everything Vecro can't play and the Quests; into the unknown/Skittermander)
We'd have to advertise publicly to apply but I don't think that's an issue

1-12 is replayable, isn't it? I played it with you. It was my first SFS one.
I've already played 1-02, just in case.
Thank you all for playing.
Vecro

Yes, 1-12 is replayable. The same as Quest: into the unknown (which I haven't played even once).
Today I made a count of scenarios that are available for the lowest tier, and I realized that I need to significantly scale down on how many games I play with different PC's or I will quickly end up playing quests back to back to get lvl 3 :P
LA64397F

I'd be willing to play again, but I do think I've played most of of the ones mentioned. I could do 1-12 with Ella. I would live to get her to 3rd level.
Baragh Dented Helm

A lot of my low tier characters have Ashes of Discovery (1-12) mainly because I have GMed it a lot. I am fine with playing it with one of my few characters who haven't. Especially with this great group :-)
Tsultro is my level 3 Half-orc Intimomat (Take Diplomat -Dipl +Itim of Intimidate). He is good at intimidating (decent at diplomacy). Also an Envoy (but not the healy feely type).
Baurquathus is my Pathra Rockstar Operative (Icon Operative (Spy specialization). Decent at a lot of things. I think he is level 2 also, only 1 real game on him.
I also have 2 characters who have no "form" yet. Both with I believe a chronicle sheet on them (One is Skitter shot, the other is either Commencement or Acts of Association).
LA64397F
|
Looking at the scenarios, 1-32 (Acts of Association) and 1-16 (Dreaming of the Future) are repeatable. Maybe we can find someone able/willing to run those.
I have a level 1 Operative and a level 2 Mechanic as well. I'd like to start a dwarf soldier, but I think I need to get these other to 3rd level first. I have a level 2 Envoy too, but I'm waiting to possibly redo him as a biohacker since he was envisioned as a doctor.
Baragh Dented Helm
|
Elle, another way to make a doctor, scholar mechanic (with exocortex that gives skill focus medicine). I have a level 7 doctor of medicine that I keep for IRL games with a local lodge. He is pretty rockstar, and uses a big game hunting rifle (well, a dual tactical acid dart rifle...but still).
Acts of Association is fun, so is Dreaming of the Future.
I might know a GM who can run one or both of those online, if he is available. Vecro, he is the one that ran Croaker and Kitkul in 1-12. He might not be immediately available...I think he is making a trip to his parents this weekend and next week.

I was sincere with my comments. I've got a lvl 1 dwarf and Mute up for pbp. Haven't played 1-12 yet but to be fair, I'd have to take a moment to reconcile the games I haven't played yet. I know I've only played 1-30 but nothing beyond. If any of you have the Discord, look me up. Thalious#9373.
