While talking with people, she tries to examine their living conditions, to see if they have enough food, clean water, and are in general good health.
1d20
1d20Diplomacy +8; Sense Motive +3; Perception +3; Heal -1 (I hope that one won't be called upon...) Is this what you need?
Yes it is, thank you. Two or three skills is probably enough, I can check the character sheet for the others. There is a reason behind the request as well.

Let me give you a little more information about the rumors and evidence. Now that you have finished the first 'phase.'
Since you arrive in the evening you have some time to investigate. This is called the evening phase, and each day also has a morning, and an afternoon phase. You have a number of places you can go each phase (as you have seen) and can make checks each time to discover new clues. The higher the success(es), the more clues available. However a single PC can only get a single clue from a given location at a time. The advantage to splitting up is that you can cover more areas. The advantage to sticking together, is you can get more information from that area.
Day 3 Phase evening
Day 4 Phase morning, phase afternoon, phase evening
D5, mP, aP, eP etc. etc. etc.
I presume you have time to meet in between each phase to share information and decide who is doing what on the next phase. You do not even have to spend every phase investigating. Now that you have seen the first phase in action, you (collectively) can decide who should go where for the next phase, and the next etc.
Also you should decide where you want to spend the night. You have discovered two rooms are available at the inn, or there is the tent city (again I am assuming: Lautebury sent you well equipped for the mundane stuff).
I hope that makes sense, but it is 1 am and I think I have been asleep since at least midnight! PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS. I cannae see if there is a befuddled look on your face since we are not sitting at the same table. :)
Ling Chang |
Makes sense to me. Unfortunately Ling is a 1st level fighter and that means he will mostly be rolling around 10. Still, if the DCs are around 15 he has a decent chance at getting a success. If over 18 or so he would be better off aiding.
Venture Teller Play b'Post |
Hey all, some technical difficulties on my end. The Sherriff will take some more RP & I will come back to that in a bit.
In the meantime:
1. There are no investigations at night, but where would you like to stay (inn or tent city)?
2. You can investigate places again (though there are diminishing returns). Where if would you like to go for the next phase (morning)?
3. Places include: none, word on the street, shop, beer garden & tent city (plenty of games going on if you want to try non-skill investigation), &... (one more can't recall atm)
4. I will get to specific questions when I get back.
Ling Chang |
Ling will be sleeping out at the inn and visiting the beer garden.
Caena Coldmoon |
I'm thinking of going to the general store the next morning, if that's the shop run by Orug Foram.
Caena Coldmoon |
I'm really sorry I disappeared. I wasn't getting notification that the game updated, and I completely failed to notice that it had been so long since I posted. Getting caught up now.

I have been unable to reach Shagara. I am prepared to bring in a Pre-gen to keep the table legal. If you have friends interested ask them to join us.
Which pre-gen would you like?
Ling Chang |
Lem so we have skills and combat boosts. That bardic knowledge comes in very handy at first level.
Caena Coldmoon |
Lem sounds good to me, or at least somebody with skills. We're a bit lacking in that department.
Venture Teller Play b'Post |
Lem, Halfling bard:
Acrobatics +8 (+4 when jumping), Bluff +9, Climb +1, Diplomacy +8, Knowledge (arcana) +6, Knowledge (nobility) +6, Perception +2, Perform (comedy) +4, Perform (wind) +8, Sense Motive +4
Quinn, Human investigator:
Craft (alchemy) +7 (+8 crafting), Diplomacy +5, Disable Device +5, Knowledge (history) +7, Knowledge (local) +7, Linguistics +7, Perception +5 (+6 vs. traps), Sense Motive +5, Stealth +4, Use Magic Device +5
Quinn comes with the bonus of inspiration.
The skald has all Knowledge skills.
Ling Chang |
I would still go with Lem because:
Diplomacy and bluff are two of the most important skills. Performance bonuses are awesome, and some of the other performances are situationally very useful.
Though the trapfinding Quinn brings might make up for it. Still, traps at this level are pretty insignificant so I prefer Lem.

@GM / Players... Do we have any leads that we have not checked out?
Having just skimmed our gameplay thread, nothing obvious springs out to me other than one of the pieces of info we gained that there is another stranger in town. Do we know where to find him?
What other locations can we explore that we have not already been to?
Venture Teller Play b'Post |
Orug's General Store
Tobius Luin's House
Tent City/Fairgrounds
Beer garden
Otto's Farm
Also I have compiled the various rumors and evidence collected so far.

Things feel like they are progressing a little slowly. Your progress is a fine in terms of the scenario. Maybe it is just the three players? How is it for everyone else? Is there anything I can provide or questions I can answer? As much as I appreciate not-metagaming, some things might be easier explained mechanically. So please ask.
Ling Chang |
It's tough to progress squat with a character with so few social skills, unless we are in combat. Gathering information is not what this character was built for. He is still fun to play, but he just won't get any scenario budging success rolls.
Venture Teller Play b'Post |
Understood. Some scenarios are just this way, like many skill based characters feel in a dungeon crawl.
There is a wide range of sports played each day, and the GM is at liberty to present these events as she sees fit and to accommodate the skills that the PCs might want to use. Ideal skill choices are Acrobatics, Climb, Ride, and Swim. EDIT: this is from the Fairgrounds section.
If you want to take your best skill and create an 'in-game' game for it please do so. I think the Beer garden also allows for a Fortitude Save to last long enough to get people talking.
On a personal note, I think all pathfinders should spend ranks in Diplomacy and Perception. Maybe not at the expense of everything else, but they are as ubiquitous in a PFS scenario as a Venture Captain insulting a PC. :p
Ling Chang |
I agree about the two skills, though with 2 skill points per level that does not allow for any kind of breadth.
Do you want to recruit a 4th PC or have us pitch in to bot Lem?
Venture Teller Play b'Post |
If you have someone willing to join, sure.
I am rolling the dice for Lem when appropriate.
If you, the player, has a task that you, the character, wouldn't or can't do, feel free to bot Lem. :)
Thanks for the feedback :)

Reporting tonight and will start chronicles tomorrow, it may be a couple of days before I finish them all.
2691381-134
I will start a new game in a week or two and want to give you both the first spots. If you are interested and if you have a request please let me know.
Ling Chang |
Of course. Same character or different? As for which seneario, I should be pretty up to date on PFS Tracker.
Akito . |
Sounds good. I'd be up for it.
Not fussed with scenario too much other than something I can play a Level 4 character in. (1-5 or 3-7 is fine). I've played very little from Seasons 8 & 9 and nothing from Season 10 so if you pick from there you're probably safe.
Venture Teller Play b'Post |
OK. I am leaving town for a week on Wednesday. I will post here when I am back and we begin looking. :) (chronicles tomorrow or Tuesday.)
Akito . |
I've shifted Akito to another scenario - I thought I still had someone else in tier for that one but it turns out he just leveled up and out.
So I've got a Level 6 Swashbuckler free if you are still looking to run something. I don't suppose you managed to do the chronicles before you went away?
Did we get 1 XP, 2 PP & standard gold (1860)?
Venture Teller Play b'Post |
Yes: 1 XP, 2 PP and standard gp.
Hello and my apologies.
My folks have no internet. The hospital had internet, but no computer. I have been at one or the other for the last week. (My Dad had surgery & it has gone pretty much to plan. He will be home soon and no further bad news expected thank you.:)
If there are questions that need answering, please ask them of me. This is a fairly complicated scenario in that it can be managed without combat and has that rumor tracking mechanic. It does offer a lot story, & I hope I was able to provide that for you.
I will be starting another scenario shortly and you are all invited to sit at the table. Which one and what characters will be determined after I know who is coming. Mention it here if you are interested.
I have not forgotten chronicles, nor have I finished them. :(
Akito . |
Normally I'd be keen to jump in whenever a GM is interested but Im probably playing enough games for now.
Venture Teller Play b'Post |
Holy Crap!
I did it!
I will have to trust you to accurately add any Day Job rolls. If someone was on Slow Track and I missed it, please make the updates (and let me know.) If you are not Silver Crusade, and I forgot to cross the Silver Crusade boon off your chronicle, please do so.
Venture Teller Play b'Post |
Akito, please let me know if you got your chronicle, & I will close this thread down. :) Thank you both for sticking with it, I hope your next game goes much better!
