Orion "He That Seeks" and Corellon "Cor" Anders are both Alias of Stiehle. I think he thought Corellon wouldn't fit the game well so he created Orion. Interestingly Corellon (nerfed down a little) could easily be one of the 'soldiers' we meet.
Are we continuing moving forwards in game until we add someone, or should we wait?

Orion "He That Seeks" |

Correct Navarre, Corellon and Orion are one and the same as far as the player goes! :) Corellon was created using the 'new' Traveler rules and went through college, then the Army and finally the Scout Corps. I didn't want to overwrite the character in case that game ever revives (unlikely, but still...)
With the different ruleset and game mechanics, I created a new Alias and re-created the character - albeit with a similar 'feel'. Bring him in whatever way works best for you! He can be construed as a soldier type pretty easily, I'll read up on the adventure thus far either tonight or tomorrow to get caught up.

Het Orion, a little information that may help.
The original players were youths on a mined out planet called 'the Rock' we 'found' our ship on our home planet. We agreed to take it to it's 'home' so it could give its previous owner a proper 'burial' and inform his people of his demise.
When we left our home system we ended up here in the Yakolev system. Which is the system we are still in, trying to find an escaped pirate for the bounty. I'd assume your character would interact with us, either being from there or a traveler with reasons of your own to be there?

Nathan "Cable" Grey |

Cor was from another Traveller PbP, extremely fun actually, but sadly ill-fated. Was sorry to see it end. The "Nathan" of that story was somewhat more brash than this one, but no less fun.
I feel like I was here Sunday, with absolutely no clue what any of the dialog meant or what the cross talk was intended to produce ... and now 36 hours later we have a new player? Not entirely sure that 2 minutes was a fair window of response, but at least it attracted a solid player.

If I could please ask that we do NOT continue moving forward, reiterate my request to press PAUSE, and add a request for a Session Zero-point-Five, I would appreciate it.
I am sorry to see Adebe go also, because I felt like we were on the edge of a breakthrough there. That said, I have also gotten to that lost-focus shark-jumping place where I am NOT psyched to log in to this campaign anymore. Can we please try to fix that together?
"No" or "No thank you" are totally okay answers, but I needed to at least ask.

Ok I am worried now we have a game play problem.
As it stands
So lets stop for now and work this out.
1: Your started on the rock, a harsh world where life is a grind.
You found a ship and it asked you to take it home.
My idea was simple
Every time you jump into a system the players would have an Adventure.
The rock and the ship finding was the 1st one
The System wide pirate hunt is the one we are no know.
Same game clarity.
You jumped into system and where spotted, inspected and then asked to help hunt down a pirate Queen.
But she was double crossed, her pick up was no who she expected and someone who know her plan to get back to her base, double crossed her and sent a ship to 'find her' and clame the reward.
But she did the duff ship to get hers crew in and took the ship running for it.
Then is YOU showed you and messed things up even more. Getting there 1st and telling system secruity you had find something, one of the taken ships crew.
And now you have a officer on the ship, asking you to tricker a tracking device to fine the taken ship.
One shot thing but done right and with a some idea of where she is close to here. You have a chance of getting a pay out.
That is where we are.
So dose that help everyone, you going to get to the pirest base soon, there you can meet other crews helping to take it as well OR catives being held by the Pirats
:)
Dose this help everyone.
I think I have falling into that 'Its too complicated root. And also rushing thing. So I am
1: going to keep things simpler form here on out and make things more clear to you. That is on me not you.
2: Also slow things down so that players have time to think and respond.
I am really sorry to see Monger leave and that is on my as well.
So trying to be better guys.

tbh, yes, I think that does help
For me, it was just becoming incredibly cumbersome to log in and then try to figure out what was misunderstood, and then fight the fight of Adebe fighting to control everything and then correct what was correctable AND then attempt/pretend to have a good time. The "good time" was not winning.
Traveller is Traveller
Flavor is flavor
Homebrew is homebrew
Fun is fun
Sorry, I don't care if artificial gravity is an artificial concept, Han Solo looked cool floating into Boba Fett's ship. Sorry, not sorry. It looks cool. I don't care how it is powered, I don't care why it works, I do NOT care if Boba had to pay extra to afford to have a grav gurney instead of some p.o.s. that looks like it came from a second hand ambulance. Yesp, sorry, don't care. I want "the cool"
And we HAD the cool. The ship is hella cool. The updates were hella cooler imo; i have magnified that pic SO much. So I just want cool, well, and fun. I don't want to talk about aerodynamics, weight distribution or cosmology, I just want lightsabers to be thrown and seem cool, even if they hit Nathan in the face. That's really all.
I feel that I understood the premise from the beginning, and I think now, the only thing missing for me is whether the "kids" will go through a "normal" traveller career path, take a break on the Aslan world for 4 years, or what. Mostly I just want to be excited when I log in.

I will say I was getting alittle confused what was going on myself. Though in the end I think I understood. Most of the confusion had to do with posts out of order and time traveling and retconning. I think with Adebe gone that is going to fix a lot of my issues.
I like my games to move but not at the expense of comprehension. I am with Cable here I like cool. It doesn't matter to me how it works. It's a game and it's all magic. It works however the GM says.

GM_Panic |

Ok then lets say that Artificial Grav is in place as per the core game rules, so far nothing has been effected by it being there or not, its just not come up. So its a no braining.
I will keep the systems have jump points, just lots of them, as said, cus having to go to places has game play.
You will get skill points as we do systems/adventures.
I'm Going to keep it simpler form here on out.

Panic, I hope my questions hadn't made you feel like I didn't want to play in the game you wanted to run. I'm good with any changes you want to make or keep. I'm curious to see the methods of adding spell points and stuff as we gain experience.
I apologize if my challenging questions for Abebe drove him from the game. I'll try and be more subtle. I'll not make excuses for being under stress with RL this year, but for what it's worth, things have settled down.
A question relating to our new player, does 'Orion' need to keep the same naming conventions we did, or can he use a more 'normal name'?

Orion "He That Seeks" |

Greetings all, and thank you GM for inviting me to the game! I admit, I was a bit intimidated by all the technical talk in the Gameplay forum - this player's brain doesn't like to work hard when I'm sitting down to a game. My character may be knowledgeable in engineering, or physics, or what-have-you, but not this guy! The 'cool' factor works for me, channeling my inner Mal or Han Solo in these games also works for me.
As far as an intro, does the idea of finding Orion on a drifting shuttle sound okay? Maybe he was part of a company of bounty hunters hired because he knew how to fly a ship? Orion was one of a handful of shuttles sent to this rock to see if maybe the pirate queen was hiding here, and sure enough it turned out she was! But the shuttle took heavy damage from an enemy ship and now I'm drifting in the black, hoping to be found before life support fails entirely.
I could also be from the same planet as the other PCs, but from a different tribe, maybe?

Navarre "Two-Fingers" |

Interestingly enough, Panic also said you could be 'Aslan.' I don't know if that interests you or not, I was just thinking about the 'naming convention' apparently that's where it came from.

Personally I liked the idea (mine) of there being a secret secondary compartment of the life pod. Like no one knew, including Angie, but somehow its mass dispalcement seemed off and Cable scanned it for life signs. Then he found Orion in an experiemental cryo-suspension and revived him.
AND it had anti-grav
AND it had an acceleration couch
AND he woke up spouting the maintenance costs down to the nano credit
j/k

No singing... he was thinking more along the lines of diverting the nav sats to the transmitter, you know, to give the distress beacon signal a boost. No worries though, all it'll do is muck up your navigation a bit. Force you to stop and dig out the signal before you can move on is all... :)

Out of curiosity, is this something that is fairly common? An AI projecting as a hologram?
Dude did you not see the tv show Andromeda? The ships AI "Rommie" could take hologram form and/or an android body.
All Navarre has been able to do so far is hook up one of the hologram projectors to a robot so she can present herself when we're talking to folk outside of the ship. But I figure we'll have an android body for her in no time.
So Panic and a couple of us we're playing in a M&M game that was a bit of a space super hero vibe. Panic was playing a similar ship/android character. That game ended abruptly, so he was kind enough to put this game together for us :)
Edit: Oh and Smurf! Just because I want to hear Cable laugh...

GM_Panic wrote:Also add

Yes there are 1d6 Aslan Swords.
3 more shock sticks
1 more [flash] chest and arms armor
12 Power cells for lasers pistols 10 shots per Cell
2x Power backpack for Laser Rifles :)Hmmm, I was cleaning up Navarre 'sheet' IT looks like we each get: one aslan vacc suit, an aslan sword, a shock stick a [flash] chest and arms armor and power cells for pistols. If my math was right, three of the six pistols had a power cells. So that's at least fifteen power cells. Cable requested two pistols, which I'm cool with, if the other three of us carry one pistol, that three 'power cells' to us and six to Cable, is that ok?
Who wants the carbines?
Also, Panic, the Aslan swords, are they functional or 'just practice'? How big are they, would they be a 'two handed sword' for a human? Would the handle need to be modified for us to use them?
Orion, this is the collection of gear we have so far, I figure it's only fair to give you the same.
Panic, we clearly had time to modify the armor to human size. Did we have the time to modify the laser weapons as well or are we still @ - 2 to use them?
edit: we never did sort out the particulars on the 'aslan swords'
and...is the armor worn over or under the vaccsuits?

Navarre "Two-Fingers" |
yes, there is a laser hunting carbine and a shock stick available, along with the laser pistol. I figured if I 'put them in a bag' you could use them or react in game as well.
Panic, thanks for the info on which weapons are 'human sized' So apparently all the laser pistols are our size, but the carbines aren't yet.
We had to take engineering rolls (I think that included time to do) to get the armor sized. I assume the same would be true of the carbines. So at the moment I'd assume the carbine is @ - 2 to hit.
The above post I copied was what Panic added to what we found, then I broke it down to each individual, the original 'gear post' said:
Then Panic added these items, giving me the total I copied and pasted above:I went back and made a list of what personal gear I think we found, If I missed something please let me know.
3 hand pistols, 3 [flash] chest and arms armor
2 laser hunting carbines, 1 shock stick, 1 laser pistol, 2 Aslan Vacc suites.
2 side arm laser pistols, hand weapons like pikes for training. So a total of personal gear we've found:
6 laser pistols I assume they are all the same, though the info when we found them was slightly different. One has been claimed by Boom.
2 laser hunting carbines
1 shock stick I believe claimed by boom
3 [flash] chest and arms armor I think these should go to whoever is planning on doing the most fighting.
2 aslan Vacc suits. Again, I think these should go to whoever is doing the most work in zero g
multiple pikes for training... any chance there is a 'practice sword' here?If we each take one pistol, and Cable takes two, that will leave us one stashed on the ship in case we are highjacked or something. Navarre will use his shotgun as a shoulder weapon, If Boom wants the shock stick, I think if Abebe and Cable want the carbines you should take them. If not maybe 'ships recourses' for whoever needs them whenever.
That seem right
Also add
2 more Aslan Vacc suits in storage.
Yes there are 1d6 Aslan Swords.
3 more shock sticks
1 more [flash] chest and arms armorPower cells for lasers pistols 4d4 10 shots per Cell
2x Power backpack for Laser Rifles:)

Navarre "Two-Fingers" |
Soundlessly the air lock door blows out, letting you into the a air lock everyone to gets past the closing inner air lock door.
The Officer and Navarren sprinting in past you all.
He comes over the vacc suit comms, moving.."Hit them fast, while we have surprise in our side. Myself, Navarren will go ahead down here, Boom, Nathan check the left passage, Captain Nathan, Orion the passage on the right, shoot with intent, GO GO GO!!"
And off he and Navarren head off at full speed down the main passage.
There is a new map up, atmos comes back, so you can open Vacc suits helmets.
Maybe it's just that I havn't had any coffee yet but I'm a little confused: the officer said "Myself, Navarren" are you refering to Abebe as Navarren now? Second the officer said "Boom, Nathan check the left passage, Captain Nathan, Orion the passage on the right," May I assume that since the second 'Nathan' was Captain that the first 'Nathan' (checking the left) was supposed to be Navarre?

Orion goes behind the robot and shoots at into the room. Sorry to say just hitting cover. A small object comes back out the door. Its a grenade.
Can you move Orion behind the robot or give us controls of our characters.
Also could you mark where the grenade landed?
HOw big is the scale? The doors look like their two feet, is it possible the hall is ten foot and the room 20x40 instead of 10x20? Hmmm the room the bad guy is in was a bathroom, more likely 5x10 than 10x20. So who knows.
