GM Abraham |
Hey everyone. Sorry again for the long delay. I haven't forgotten about our game. Just been in a bit of a funk with real life stuff and some burn out too. I appreciate your patience and promise that I will get us going again soon.
Firewarden Yanda |
Well, I for one am still here.
Altovin Prynn |
Still around as well.
GM Abraham |
Sorry for the further delay everyone. All day divorce negotiations tomorrow and I've been too stressed about that to focus. I'm signed up for some GenCon games over the weekend, but after the weekend I will get us back on track.
Firewarden Yanda |
I hope the con gives you a big stress relief.

Hey everyone, just a quick note to let you know I haven't forgotten you. Divorce negotiations went ok and now I'm working on trying to get her actually moved out. Sigh.
The next week is shaping up to be extra crazy for me but I expect to be able to restart our game then (probably on Friday). Sorry again and, again, thanks for your patience.

Thanks for letting us know.
Firewarden Yanda |
Have things quieted down yet? Life rarely goes according to plan, huh?
GM Abraham |
No kidding! Again, I thank you all for your patience. I haven't forgotten our game. Hope to get us rolling this weekend.
Firewarden Yanda |
Hopeful nudge?
GM Abraham |
Yep, I'm still here. I'll try to get my head back into this game tomorrow and get something posted. Sorry again for the delay.
GM Abraham |
Ok, here we go. Back in to the Drowned Level! Once again, I'm so sorry for how drawn out this has been. I'm in the final stages of getting divorced and it has been really difficult, especially because we have a young child and my ex-wife is a high-conflict personality. But, the good news is that I think we are only a couple of weeks from her actually moving out and she has begun to pack up her stuff so it seems like it's really going to happen. In any case, you don't need to be bothered about all of this, but I just wanted you to understand that I haven't been willfully ignoring all of you.
Altovin Prynn |
That sounds extremely rough. I have had you in my thoughts, for what it is worth. And I always say life has to come first and this seems like a reasonable absence as any.
It probably battered our momentum but I am sure we can get back up to cruising speed eventually! Altovin has just been enjoying his nice swim.
GM Abraham |
Hi everyone, sorry, it's been a grueling week. Was hoping to get a post up tonight but I'm beat. Should be able to post again tomorrow.
GM Abraham |
Well, I've finally managed to get a gameplay post up - once again I'm sorry for how this has dragged on - I'm well aware how frustrating that can be for players.
Also, somehow my dice decided that this was just the time to get smoking hot and I'm afraid I have just killed Shabah. I pride myself on running a challenging table where the players feel like death is a real possibility, but in actuality I haven't killed a player outright since I think my very second time GM-ing PFS (that time was also the result of an ill-timed crit). In any case, I hope one of you has some miracle to pull out of your pocket to save the day, but if not I will cue the sad music for Shabah, who has been heroic in every respect throughout this long water-logged level.
GM Abraham |
Hey everyone. Sorry again for the slowness of play. My ex-wife has finally moved out and I'm scrambling to get caught up on everything that was didn't get done during the move-out drama. I hope to have our game moving again very soon. Thank you again for your patience and the good news is that once I'm able to get us going again we should be able to return to a more normal pace.
Firewarden Yanda |
Glad to have you back. Hopefully in one mental piece.
Feel free to vent if you want to.
Altovin Prynn |
Pathfinder is here to help you unwind so no worries on this front! Good luck on getting caught up with everything.
Firewarden Yanda |
Time for the montlhly bump.
GM Abraham |
I'm embarrassed by how this has gotten bogged down. Last day of classes is this Tuesday and I promise I will get us restarted then.
Firewarden Yanda |
I'll be here.
GM Abraham |
Hey y'all, sorry again for the long delay. I've been scrambling to get caught up on overdue grades before the end of the semester. Just about there and anticipate resuming our game sometime this week. Thanks again for your patience and understanding.
GM Abraham |
Happy holidays, everyone! I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy in these difficult times.
I can't quite believe it's been more than 2 months since I posted in gameplay. Ugh. My apologies. Well, the good news is that I've finally managed to make a post and move our combat along. The bad news - well, not really bad news, but just inconvenient for our gameplay - is that I'm doing a 5 day meditation retreat starting tomorrow, which means I won't be online again until Sunday. But hopefully this will at least give everyone a chance to get their heads back into the game, figure out how you want to approach the situation, and we can begin to move forward again at a normal pace on Sunday.
Once again, my sincere apologies for letting our game get bogged down as it has.
Firewarden Yanda |
Well, I am delighted that you have not forgotten us and keep returning. Eventually things will get back to full speed ahead!
GM Abraham |
Hi everyone, happy new year. I hope that you are all staying safe and healthy in these troubling times.
As you've probably already seen, I've restarted our play in the gameplay thread. Please post when you can. Barring something unforeseen, I anticipate being able to resume a pretty normal posting schedule (I have custody of my daughter 50% of the time, so it may be somewhat less when she's with me). And, once again, thank you to all of you for your patience with me - it's been a pretty rough year.
I'm posting now to get y'all's input on two related questions:
First, are you all fed up with this watery dungeon and ready (assuming you survive this current fight...) to move on? Besides this room, there are still three more rooms to the current level (the water current carried you past them) but I'm somewhat inclined to hand wave them on account of the sheer amount of time that we have been on this level and the fact that there is a certain amount of 'more of the same' shtick to those remaining rooms. However, if anyone prefers that we do them as well I can certainly do that.
Second, would you like to continue on with the Spire beyond this level? I've noticed that there's a number of players who have recently posted in Flaxseed, trying to get a group for the next level (6, The Clockwork Maze) of the Spire. Since we currently have 3 players, I thought I would reach out to them before they organize something on their own, but I wanted to first check in with all of you to see how you are feeling.
Let me know what you think.

Moving on is fine with me and recruiting is good and, yes, I am still very much interested in continuing with the campaign.
Altovin Prynn |
Absolutely fine with hand waving the rest of the level but I won't be continuing. Mostly because my bandwidth is scrapped thin and I have been downsizing my committments. I am about to move to another country so it is only going to get worse for me.
GM Abraham |
Ok, I'll make this the final fight then. And will reach out to the other interested players. I don't think there's too much left to this one - both the automaton and the crab are teetering. I've PM-ed Shabah but no word back so far.
Altovin, you'll be missed! I hope your move goes smoothly.
Black Sun |
Consider this a "dot". I don't feel too great right at this moment - but I am in, and in for the long haul!
phaeton_nz |
I'm interested in joining. I've got a PC who has been working down the Spire and she just finished level 5 (I GMed that level for our local group since I had already played it) and is set to start level 6 - which I haven't played yet. I'll have to burn replays for levels 7,8 and 9, (my plan was to also GM them and apply slow track credit) but after that, it's clean sailing all the way down.
Black Sun |
I am about to move to another country so it is only going to get worse for me.
Neat. From where, to where?
Uhvat Balanos |
Thanks, for the invite GM Abraham. Yes, would like to bring Uhvat on to the rest of Emerald Spire.
Altovin Prynn |
Altovin Prynn wrote:I am about to move to another country so it is only going to get worse for me.Neat. From where, to where?
From Japan back to the United States. Been here for 2 years but need to head back to work on my PhD...then probably come back over and work here.
Black Sun |
Be sure that's what you have to do, is my advice; you're headed to a country in arguably the bleakest hour of its history, and the Pandemic's started to turn it into a "Hotel California". I got to spend the first several months of last year in Australia, and my family is finally starting to talk seriously about immigrating - to where, we haven't decided, but Japan is looking like a very attractive option.
Patros Therinor |
hey guys. grimdog73's toon here. sorry i'm a bit late...been a bit spaced out last couple days...all good to go...just have to buy a few things before we head out
Also, i might switch to a pregen after this level...if that's cool with you guys
Black Sun |
Why? Pregens are boring (personally, I feel Paizo overexposes their iconics).
GM Abraham |
Ok, greetings, old players and new! Just a quick note to clarify the current state of the game for the new arrivals: we are currently in the final fight of Level 5 (The Drowned Level) and are waiting to hear from one player whose character is at risk of dying; if I haven't heard from them by tomorrow night I'll move the game along and bot them to the best of my ability.
Once we get this fight wrapped up we'll have a short pause for issuing chronicle sheets, leveling up, etc., and then will move ahead with Level 6 (The Clockwork Maze).
My understanding (please correct if wrong) is that the party moving forward to the next level will be:
* Yanda (Alchemist 5 or 6)
* Black Sun (Chaokineticist 5)
* Uhvat Balanos (Spiritualist/Monk 5)
* Patros Therinor (Swashbuckler 6)
* Phaeton_nz (?)
* We have not yet heard if Shabah (Metamorph 5 or 6) wants to continue
So, a party of 5 or 6.
Feel free to dot and delete in the gameplay thread so that this game shows up in your list of games if you haven't already. I'll ask you for your PFS numbers etc. after we get this level wrapped up.
Hope this sounds good to everyone and any questions?
GM Abraham |
Also, i might switch to a pregen after this level...if that's cool with you guys
No objection from me. But note that the deeper levels of the Spire are outside the range of pregens (level 9 is the last one that you can play with a pregen; levels 10-16 will require a PC in tier).
I'm DMing In Your Closet |
* Yanda (Alchemist 5 or 6)
Firewarden Yanda!!! You've come a long way from that strange little burg in the Mana Wastes, haven't you?
Firewarden Yanda |
She has been through a lot. She's my character that has come closest to death the most times. What scenario was that?
Firewarden Yanda |
Ah, The Twisted Circle.

She will be taking land parcel D1, recovering 2 PP, buying air crystals for 50 gp to replace the ones she used, and a belt of incredible dexterity for 4000 gp.
Starting gold is 2995 so she should have enough.
