Sorry for the posting delay, everyone. Things have been a bit hectic. Will try to get chronicles and something for gameplay posted this weekend.

We ready to move on to the next level?

GM Abraham |

Sorry for the delay, everyone. Tomorrow is the last day of classes for the semester for me so I've been preoccupied with the grading backlog etc. I anticipate being able to move us forward again very soon. Thanks for your patience.

![]() |

No problems. I'll just poke the thread every once in a while so it doesn't get lonely.

![]() |

What game?

![]() |

Same .... be hear until the Chronicles come out.. Thinking of starting my own game of the next level for people to play - assuming there is interest.
You should post in flaxseed recruitment, I’m sure there’s interest!!

![]() |

I’m almost finished leveling up to 7.
Defaah as a dinosaur does not fit the spire so Jang has asked Erastil to give him the power to gain a new form for Defaah.
His new companion will be a giant mosquito with the unexpected intellectual archetype.
I also took the improved spell sharing feat for Jang and his companion.

GM Abraham |

Everyone, once again my apologies for the long delay in getting these chronicles to you - I make no excuses and hope it hasn't detracted from the fun of our adventure.
Chronicles should be downloadable here. Please let me know if you encounter any problems or see any mistakes.
For those who are continuing on, I hope to have our next adventure launched tomorrow. For everyone else, good luck in your travels!

![]() |

Please don’t worry about timing GM!!
This is just a game. :-D
I would love to continue.
I’ll be a little bit slow until end of next week as I’m GMing for PaizoCon and have preparations to do.

![]() |

Thanks for getting those out and being a trooper through all this. Looking forward to the next level.

![]() |

Looking forward to starting with this group.

![]() |

Whew, finally updated my character sheet. Nothing terribly exciting. He can now detect undead at will.

![]() |

Hello GM Abraham, is it ok to continue now?
See below also for my Jang's new animal companion.

Magas |

Here is the giant mosquito companion!

GM Abraham |

Yes! My apologies for the long delay, everyone. We will get started on Monday (I've got my hands full with childcare and the 4th of July holiday this weekend). Thanks for your patience!

![]() |

Thanks for everything!

![]() |

That would be awesome.

GM Abraham |

Ugh, sorry everyone. I once again got a little delayed/distracted. I'm going to try to get our gameplay thread going today but first I have to figure out why the paizo forum decided to move this game to inactive (I didn't do it). I'm hoping that posting, either here in Discussion, or in Gameplay, will reactivate it. Let's see.
Edit - looks like posting in Gameplay reactivated the game.

![]() |

Kala's been enjoying the time off. Continuing to learn to read. (She's about at a second grade reading level now. Yay!) Chilling with Stinky. Going to therapy to deal with her self confidence issues. Hunting and curing jerky so she can spoil reward Stinky, using it all up, and doing it all again. Good bonding time. All that jazz. It's been a good vacation, and she's ready to get back to work.

GM Abraham |

Ok, everyone I'm ready to go! Thank you again to all of you for your patience.
A few bookkeeping things:
First, a reminder that this is a tier 5-7 adventure. I believe you are all in that range but just in case you aren't, let me know!
Second, I've added your tokens on slide one. Please let me know that you are here by moving your token on to the stairs or the squares just past it.
Third, Kala and Jang, please add tokens for your animal companions, both on slide 1 and slide 3.
Fourth, everyone please check your information on slide 2 - I think the day job info there may be copied over from the previous level so if so please redo it.
Fifth, everyone please add or review your Init, Perception, and Saves on slide 3 - I copied this from the last level so I expect the information is out of date for several of you.
Thanks and looking forward to this - I hope y'all have fun!

Day Job roll
alchemy: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (4) + 23 = 27
alchemy reroll: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (3) + 23 = 26
It all looks good to me.

![]() |

profession medium: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
Ok have done as requested. Moved Uhvat to the front, because that's where he'll always try to be.
Oh yes, Uhvat bought a pair of boots of striding and springing, so now he can move 30ft like normal people. :)

@GM Abraham: Just a reminder, because even I had forgotten if I already did this.
Thanks! Looking forward it this.
...
@GM Abraham: Can you make a note on Kala's Chronicle that she has cast Masterwork Transformation on her grandfather's cold iron warhammer? I had put off doing it until she was accepted into a game so it could be properly recorded. The cost is:
300 for mstwk - 24 for cold iron warhammer = 276 gp.
Thanks!

I'll try to remember but please feel free to remind me when we get to the end of the level (I won't prepare the chronicles until then). I generally don't add GM notes on purchases to chronicles, trusting players to do that themselves, but of course I will if you want me to. But you might need to remind me when we get to the end. :-)

Hello GM,
I hope it is ok that I do not bring Jang into the game. The dungeon crawling does not fit to his character well.
I chose another character that I would like to bring for the whole journey and who has an academic interest in the emerald spire.
It is my gun wielding Wayang who is level 5.
craft alchemy day job, tool, crafter's fortune, alchemist 1/2 level: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (16) + 17 = 33

Yep, sure, no problem for me. And the Spire is pretty much a dungeon crawl the whole way through (they make some modest efforts to give it some narrative but in the end each level was written by a different author and it is definitely first and foremost a massive dungeon crawl).

GM Abraham |

Tofang, it looks like you have a companion riding dog too? Please also add their saves on slide 3. Thx.

GM Abraham |

Sorry everyone, it appears I've confused you with my way of handling PC saves. Generally speaking, unless there is some good reason not to, I will usually roll your saves for you (hence the request for the full dice expression on slide 3, so I can just copy and paste as needed). The first GM that I ever played PbP with did it that way and I've usually stuck with that approach since I feel that it makes the gameplay thread flow much more easily (especially for me as the GM, since I don't have to continually pause the action to wait for die rolls from y'all which are essentially passive). So, for example, if you look at the Reflex Saves spoiler in my previous post, you'll see that I already rolled for everyone (and adjusted your hp accordingly in the initiative card). Even though I didn't have everyone's modifiers, as luck would have it I was still able to parse the rolls (for example - I didn't know what the dog's modifier was, but it made the DC on the die so it was moot). In short, I'll use the results I rolled, rather than the rolls that Kala, Stinky, and Yanda just made.
Of course none of this precludes you using an ability like your paizo tshirt 1/scenario reroll. Basically, it just means that you are getting to see the DC and the result before you have to decide whether or not to use the reroll (as opposed to at an in-person table where you would have to decide to use the reroll before knowing the result). Sometimes, when the stakes are high, or your die roll is ambiguous about whether or not you may have passed, I'll post the results in a spoiler and ask you to decide whether or not you are using a reroll before looking at the spoiler. In short, please don't feel like me rolling the saves for you is limiting your play options (e.g. just because I've posted the roll, you still have the ability to, say, use an immediate action to do something that would modify those results). I hope this all seems fair and makes sense. Let me know if you have any questions.

![]() |

Sounds good. I missed the spoiler and played follow the leader on making the roll myself. I prefer the idea that you roll the saves anywat.

![]() |

Thanks GM!!

On the riding dog. Yes only 13 hp. ;-)
Tofang auto succeeds on the DC 5 ride check. Moving a mount in combat is a free action then.
The riding dog is combat trained already. A riding dog can fight while carrying a rider, but the rider cannot also attack unless he or she succeeds on a DC 10 Ride check.
But Tofang will never try to make the riding dog attack or do any other trick and that is the only action that would necessitate Tofang to spend a move action as this is no animal companion and also require a handle animal check. But Tofang won’t do that anyway.
So the riding dog gives Tofang extra mobility with two move actions of the dog and it is a free action to steer the dog and Tofang still will have his own move and standard actions.

GM Abraham |

How is the dog combat trained? (I was so immersed in all these rules awhile back when I was building my cavalier, but it's been awhile!)

![]() |

Hi GM!
The dog comes combat trained with the purchase. But actually that is irrelevant because I’ll never direct the dog to attack anyway because Combat trained only allows to simultaneously attack with better action economy.
Fight with a Combat-Trained Mount: If you direct your war-trained mount to attack in battle, you can still make your own attack or attacks normally. This usage is a free action.

@GM Abraham: In checking Kala's transactions, I realized that I had purchased barding for Stinky, but didn't put it on his character sheet. Is that something I can add now, or should I wait until it makes sense in the narrative?

![]() |

Tofang recalls that fiendish creatures - such as these - are resistant to fire, cold, and spells. Let me know if you want to change your action as a result of this knowledge.
Also, are you sure that you can reach the spot you moved to? Note that all the squares in the room are difficult terrain.
Hi GM, as the dog has 40 ft movement and can move independently of Tofang’s actions the 80 ft movement are enough to get to that spot.
No change to my actions.

Sure, go ahead and add it now. No worries.

Ah, got it. Ok thanks for the clarification.

GM Abraham |

Things are a little hectic the next couple days (roof getting replaced) - might not have a chance to update in gameplay until Friday.

![]() |

I will be on vacation too (Thus-Mon). I'm pretty good at keeping up while vacationing but there are two 10+ hour drives involved so I may not be able to respond promptly at times.

GM Abraham |

Gosh, I'm sorry it's been a week! I have my daughter with me full time right now and she's running me into the ground the way only a four year old can (not complaining - it's great - just not leaving me much time for other stuff). Will get an update out now.

![]() |

Please don’t worry! We’re here for the long run. :-)

![]() |

I totally understand! Have fun, make good memories, and all that jazz! :)
