The undead are a scourge that can ruin entire tribes out in the steppes.

Surprise round
For no reason you can see, between one step and the next, the smelly elf comes alive. "Not again." slip from his lips as he suddenly changes direction and moves back into the room. "Telos, look out!"

First round
He is reaching for his cold iron short sword when he hears the others say that only magic works. "Naturally" he says with deep frustration. So he instead pulls out his last vial of holy water and hurls it at the shadow (reasonibly confident that he won't get hit in the face this time).

The Pathfinders, obviously sick and tired of suprise rounds and things sneaking up on them jump to the gun. Their readiness with this battle means it only lasts for 6 seconds. The flasks of holy water causes the creature to wince back in pain. It lurches back in pain screaming an incantation in a long lost language. As his hands weave a darkness attuned evocation spell, Pietros divine light hits the spell and bounces through the holes burns out by the holy water. The light, is to powerful causing the undead to shine with a holy light. It struggles and struggle, and falls. To everyone’s suprise, a small purple gem falls to the ground, rippling with dark energy.

Naeryn, I’m taking your attach as a melee with the holy water instead, so you don’t have a chance to miss the creature. Something you can do with the flask vs incorporeas! Out of initiative!

You all wipe the sweat from your brows and curse this forsaken place. Even Bhur Athemons long dead stupdents spirits are mad at the world, it seems.

Naeryn is easily able to pick the lock to the door leading back into the main chamber where you first faced he goblins. You two you have tied up, trying to make their way up to rope to the second floor. One of them is balancing on the others head, while bighting at the rope ladder using his neck muscles to pull himself up. To no avail, they seem to be struggling out of their restraints.

Where to now team? You’ve been around for 15 minutes. Maybe 20, if you’ve taken your time. You have the other half of the dungeon left.

If you check the other door here, it seems to be locked from the other side. This will take a higher skill check, Naeryn thinks to himself.

Back in the oval chamber...

Telos pants heavily after the shadow saps some of his strength.

Gods, I was okay with undead until they got a solid jump on us. Phew!

As they make their way back to the center area:

Pietro, does your drunken god have any healing or restoration for a bit of sapped strength? That shadow came out of nowhere.

Once they get back to the middle, Telos feels better already watching the goblins struggle. He points at them. Look at those little goobers trying!

He raises his left hand and points it towards the goblin on top, a familiar pose when he aims a spell ray. He hesitates. Nah, I shouldn't... probably not.

Take us with you! We show you temple! You be new goblin leaders! ...did you find anything shiny? They seem very impressed with the party.

"OF COURSE!" Pietro roars. Then he hands Telos a full pint-sized tankard of ale. "Here. Drink this. Right. Now drink this. And this next one too. Keep drinking, and when you wake up you will be FINE! More or less."

It's weird but according to the rules you don't actually take any negatives until you take 2 points of damage to an attribute. It was one of Paizo's "let's make the rules simpler" decisions that always sort of struck me as less simple than the already simple and established ability score math. Count me as someone who dislikes the rule as written, but am willing to live with it when my character can benefit from it. As for healing the damage, the next time Telos and Pietro rest for 8 hours they should come back good as new--not that they have technically lost anything mechanically speaking.

Ability Score Damage wrote:

Diseases, poisons, spells, and other abilities can all deal damage directly to your ability scores. This damage does not actually reduce an ability, but it does apply a penalty to the skills and statistics that are based on that ability.

For every 2 points of damage you take to a single ability, apply a –1 penalty to skills and statistics listed with the relevant ability. If the amount of ability damage you have taken equals or exceeds your ability score, you immediately fall unconscious until the damage is less than your ability score. The only exception to this is your Constitution score. If the damage to your Constitution is equal to or greater than your Constitution score, you die. Unless otherwise noted, damage to your ability scores is healed at the rate of 1 per day to each ability score that has been damaged. Ability damage can be healed through the use of spells, such as lesser restoration.

As for the door Pietro has the Strength Domain power Strength Surge which could help in busting it open.

I'm all for letting the big guy smash the door. It is probably faster too. But I'm curious. Could Naneryn take 20 on the lock? Or does the magic make the locks impossible to pick?

Alright, so we are doing this this way I guess. Let’s get going then!

The pathfinder, intregued by the magically infused door are not dissuaded by the clear warnings. Naeryn realises that he is unable to use his lock-picking skills here as whatever this magic is, it stops all engagement with the lock mechanism. Instead, they do what they can to sink bruite force into the obstacle. After a while, with sweat running down their brow, Roran and Pietro manage to combine their strengths into breaking the door off its hinges. The ancient doorway let’s loose and a gust of wind follows, as if exhaling for the first time in centuries. The goblins look on in awe at their captors. A dark room awaits...

You no go there! Goblins couldn’t find way past! Mizz Boss finds other way! This way too hard, there is no way you can...wooooow! the goblins cheer as you open the door way.

I hope someone has a crowbar in their inventory. This feat takes you 20 minutes of hard work. I won’t penalise you for going this way, but you’re characters whoever was helping are basically exhausted. Also, Pietro please cross of 3 uses of your Strength Surge ability during this time.

A twenty-foot-tall statue of a man carrying a tome stands in a round niche at one end of this impressive chamber. The chest and head of the large statue have been badly damaged, and look like they melted and ran before congealing again, giving the statue a crude, blob-shaped face with eyes of red stone. A doorway leads to the southwest, and another to the southeast. The bodies of two goblins lie at the base of the defaced idol. Their hands limply grasping a pile of treasure which lies nearby.

Another post incoming...

Alright, so hey guys. If anytime was the time to start paying really close attention or asking questions, this time is now.

@In this moment, you feel deep in your gut that this is not a very good idea. Seward, I’ll let you either keep or re-take your second turn. You saw, your friend Roran take a full attack in the suprise round. You can stipulate that they have some sort of ability that lets them full attack you from any distance. Are you still willing to take an attack of opportunity just for a shot with your bow? Also, Acrobatics through a threatened area only works at half speed unless you have skills/feats. Everyone's eyes are on the unlucky elf, as he dives underneath Pietro's legs. The creature, and the cleric, are stunned and don't know what to do with themselves. He deals a devastating blow to the creature engaged with Seward. Simultaneously, Telos releases a powerful arcane force bolt that hits the creature square in the side of the head. It screams an ear piercing howl. It stumbles but remains upright.

Pietro moves back up the stairs (provokes AoO from blue assuming the rails count as cover). If he makes it, he pulls his wand of cure light wounds out (using his buckler-hand) and prepares to use it. So double move.

The creature claws at Pietro as he moves away from it. Eyes focusing on his prey, it steps forward towards a fresh target and naws at it. In the confusion, still annoyed that he missed Seward, is going to assault him again.

Well done everyone, this is a CR5 encounter and you guys are doing the best I've seen a group do! Sorry for the lack of post, it's my partner's birthday today, so i'm trying my best to multi task!
