SOLDIER-1st |
Ok, so I'd like to make an Earthshadow rouge, from the Elemental Master's Handbook. I plan on taking the Eyes in the Dark trait, and playing him as a former Umbral Court agent who is laying low and waiting for an opportunity to successfully flee the country. He will be a native Nidalese human with the Shadowhunter and Dimdweller racial traits.
Just checking in for the go-ahead and any advice before I actually build him.

Build away...but it's "rogue" not "rouge"... ;)
Bastian Garmont |
This is the submission of Jacob Trier.
Character: Bastian Garmont, NG Human fighter 8
Assumed Role in the Party: Frontline melee damage dealer/battlefield control (trip/disarm), with some tracking capability.
General Concept: Bastian is an ex-militiaman from the once free city-state of Cettigne in Molthune. Forced to flee after the Imperial Molthune Army took control over the city, he traveled to Nidal as a mercenary, hired to protect the mechant caravans moving through the dangerous Umbral Basin. He since made his way to the Atteran Ranches, where he was hired as a “Dream Hunter”. Driven by his conscience, he abandoned his new employers to help the Desnan dissidents he was hired to hunt down.
Campaign trait: Liberator’s Calling
Player Experience: I’m a veteran roleplayer and have been playing Pathfinder, both as a GM and player, since the game was released. I have numerous PbP games under my belt, some of which have lasted fore several years of high-quality play. I have experience with mapping, both wih MapTool and Roll20.

I think I've finally settled on a concept that should get me into the area and have an interesting character for the game. As a final question for working things out, though, should we use aging penalties and bonuses for ability scores if playing an older character? For the record, I'm looking at middle age and won't be dumping my physical scores--I'm looking at an elven investigator who's just been around for a while.

With their natural longevity (compared to other races), an elven investigator would have "been around for awhile" without having to dip into the aging mechanics. That said, if you're absolutely tied to that element as part of your middle-aged character concept, definitely apply the aging penalties/bonuses. And definitely don't be dumping any of your ability scores as a result.

Sounds great! Everything's starting at least at 10 because I dislike dumping in general, unless it's for a specific concept. And I checked on the age mechanics and timelines before asking--by my figuring he's around 200, which puts him solidly in middle age for the race.

...I checked on the age mechanics and timelines before asking--by my figuring he's around 200, which puts him solidly in middle age for the race.
Sounds reasonable. FYI, in terms of Golarion's (and Nidal's) overall timeline, that means your elf would have reached adulthood (i.e., 110 years old) in the middle of the Chelish Civil War which occurred from 4608 and lasted 32 more years until House Thrune won in 4640 with the aid and support of Nidal's shadowcallers and Adamant Company. So, take that into consideration as you work through your character background.
Callan Stonethrow |
This is the submission of primemover003 (kingofvrock)
Character: Callan Stonethrow, m halfling ranger (deep walker) 8
Assumed Role in the Party: Ranged support, wilderness/subterranean skills, guide
General Concept: Callan grew up a slave in Ash Hollow, spending his days spelunking through narrow tunnels seeking new veins of coal. He is an action-oriented person, being the first to dive in the hole after a collapse to rescue his fellow miners or charges. He likes to keep his climbing gear in pristine condition, always carrying at least a hand full of candlerods or sunrods on hand.
Just before his 20th birthday he was rescued from slavery by the Bellflower Network and smuggled out of Nidal, eventually joining his liberators' cause. He returned to Nidal when the small enclaves of Desnans requested aid in avoiding the Dream Hunter posses. His experience with underground travel was a natural fit as the network looked for alternative routes to lead both halfling slaves and outlaw Desnans out of the country.
Campaign trait: Liberator’s Calling
Player Experience: 30 years of RPG experience, primarily GMing, including Pathfinder Society. Two time RPG Superstar contestant, top 16 (2011), finalist (2013). Wrote PFS scenario Destiny of the Sands, Part I – A Bitter Bargain and Tombs of Golarion site the Prismatic Lantern.
Still rounding out the crunchy bits.

I really love the idea of this campaign - both the thematic elements and the focus on character building / interaction and storytelling.
I'm thinking a human Bladebound Magus with the Nidalese Exile trait. His family has traditionally worshiped Desna, but he has mostly rejected the more formal aspects of worship. His one remaining connection to his family is an heirloom starknife that compels him to return to his homeland, though he still hasn't discovered the intelligent weapon's true motivations. What do you think of the general concept?

Carthas Enritch |
This character is my submission for consideration.
I will be quiet as a mouse in a midnight field.
Though his father always assured him that he was as welcome in the small village as anyone, Carthas felt his half-elf heritage keenly during his teenage years, and he was apt to slip out his bedroom window and wander, alone and moping, along the verges of the woods after the rest of the townspeople lay sleeping. He could not remember his elven mother, who had left their family as soon as Carthas was old enough to eat solid food and toddle around, but he knew that she had met his father in a moonlit clearing of these woods, and he was enough of an adolescent romantic to imagine that he might hear light steps in the forest himself and encounter the other side of his family. Instead, he largely spent the time stargazing and trying to see how close he could sneak up to deer before startling them. Carthas suspected his father knew of his nightly rambles, but the patient man never mentioned them, as long as Carthas was in his bed come the morning.
On one unseasonably warm night in Lamashan, he was stalking a doe, with hopes of getting within arms reach, when he was distracted by movement in his peripheral vision. Deer forgotten, he turned to trace what seemed a mere patch of shadow moving through the familiar woods. More intrigued than afraid, he decided to follow. "I'll be quiet as a mouse," he assured himself. Weaving through the woods after a shadow proved more difficult that tracking the local wildlife, and before long Carthas had lost track of his quarry. He was just about to make for home when he came to the edge of a glade that was open to the bright light of a sky-full of stars and the waxing crescent moon. At the center of the space stood the smudge of shadow that he had pursued. As he watched, the darkness resolved itself into a human form, a tall, gray-haired woman who held her arms up the the sky, then swept them apart, seemingly to encompass the whole of the heavens. The woman set herself, as if in preparation for a stately dance, then suddenly she turned on the balls of her feet and looked right into Carthas's eyes. "Ah, there you are, little mouse," she said in a gentle voice that carried to the glade's edge. "Hush now." With a shushing motion she gestured at the boy, who found his eyelids growing immediately heavy.
When he woke in his bed the next morning, he half-convinced himself it was all a dream, but when he slumped his way out of his room to scavenge a late breakfast, he saw the woman sitting at the table speaking to his father. That was how he met Trewyn.
Darkness shroud me, moonlight guide me.
Whack! A flour-filled packet sailed out of the night and struck Carthas between the eyes, scattering grit all over his clothes. "You call that stealth, my lead-footed apprentice?" Trewyn chuckled. Age hadn't spoiled her aim, or the force of her throw. Carthas’s forehead stung. "I could see you from a mile out!"
Carthas was 20, and the quietest tracker in the village, but that wasn't enough for his mentor, who had an uncanny sense of his whereabouts. For the past week, she had given him the impossible task of tracking her through the forest and attempting to catch her unawares. "Again!" Carthas sighed as he closed his eyes, waiting for Trewyn to disappear into the forest once more. "Ashava, protect me from your priestess. Right now, she's dancing all over my dignity."
Carthas knew that something was different about his next attempt as soon as he opened his eyes. The shadows reached out from below the trees and wrapped themselves around his legs. When he passed beneath a lattice of branches, the tracery of darkness clung to his skin. Soon, he felt he was a cloud, a piece of night, a shadow himself. His skin was cold, his eyes sharper than ever. He was nothing but movement and intention. He was compelled to walk toward the deepest, most tangled heart of the forest. He could feel that more darkness lay there, and power. The power of shadow. But, though he felt drawn toward the heart of night, Carthas found himself veering onto another path, one picked out for him in the pale light of the cresc nt moon that had just risen. "Surely Trewyn would not venture so deep into the wood, and I must still find her." And he did, following the path of moonlight, he found his mentor sitting quietly on a stump, flour-sack ready to hand. When she didn't immediately wing it at him, Carthas realized that the shadow had successfully hidden him from his teacher. He was about to sneak up behind her and shout when a smile crossed her face. "Ah, you have learned something interesting Carthas. But, when was the last time you took a bath?" She punctuated her question with a well-aimed throw, but the young student was too exultant over the ability he had discovered to be much chagrined by the coating of flour.
I am the predator in the night.
When Trewyn met Carthas on the edge of the village green, the chill of a dark Kuthona was in the air. "The archivist in Archwold, two towns over, is looking for some hired help. It seems innocent enough, but I've heard some troubling rumors about Archwold lately. So, I'll have to live without your company for a few weeks while you check it out. For the next month or so, you'll be Harper Stumps, jack-of-all trades. Keep your eyes peeled, and see that the town is safe."
Surely enough, when Carthas--that is, Harper--started on as hired help, the job was mundane enough. But, before a week had passed, the half-elf began noticing odd occurrences around the town and in the archives. A shipment of "ink" turned out to be filled with onyx gems. The storeroom of the archive contained a suspicious amount of incense. Carthas also noticed that the archivist had a habit of taking midnight strolls. What the man hadn't counted on was the hired help's ability to melt into the shadows and follow him without a sound. How thoroughly Carthas had deceived the old archivist was evident in the look of surprise on the man's face when the half-elf slipped out of the graveyard's shadows and interrupted a eldritch chant with a blade through the throat. (And none too soon, as the earth at the man's feet had started to stir.)
"My friends tell me that it's safe to walk Archwold at night," Trewyn imparted to Carthas over a cup of tea soon after. "In fact, the night is quiet round about within two days' ride. Time for you to venture farther afield."
From that point on, Carthas seldom stayed in one place long, or settled into one identity. His steps guided by paths that revealed themselves under the full moon. In lonely villages, he sought out those that preyed by night. In barrows that were long forgotten, he put the dead to rest, and hallowed their halls, bringing quiet and peace. Though he saw Trewyn infrequently, she was pleased with his progress. Lately, he felt himself drawn toward northern Nidal, where he has been hunting beasts that stalk the night.
Carthas is a keen observer, and he's quick to ask follow-up questions of his companions and attempt to put them at ease by actively listening. He has an unconscious habit of picking up the accent and speech mannerisms of those he spends much time with. He revels in the nighttime, and will usually volunteer for whatever shift of watch corresponds with moonrise; he thinks it a shame that so many people fear the dark and his major motivation for serving Ashava is to make the night safe for others to walk in. While he's nettled by morning people or those too afraid to take risks, his clandestine work has shown him the necessity of cooperating with people of all different strengths and personalities. Seeing himself as brave, but not foolish, he's quick to take on situations in the most practical way, whether that means stealth, negotiations, or combat.
Mechanically, the character will continue as a rogue, picking up Greater Feint at 9th.
For the evolution of the character, I'd like him to be tempted by the more sinister aspects of shadow, and possibly explore in what contexts the ends justify the means. He's a very pragmatic optimist right now, and hasn't really had to deal with the consequences of making any bad judgement calls or making unfavorable sacrifices. His beliefs in Ashava and his own abilities are firm but untested, and I'd like him to develop some more perspective and empathy and to discover that there are things out in the darkness that he probably should be afraid of.

Took a bit to realize that I needed to provide the statblock as well, but I have updated and added the statblock. Hopefully my charcater will be considered.
Forgive me if this is presumptuous, but I thought I would point this out from the first page, regarding the GM's requirements for consideration.
Physical Description & Personality: I need everyone to include a paragraph or so of your character’s physical description which I and your fellow players can then reference to get a mental picture of your PC. Try to select an avatar on the Paizo messageboards to match it. Additionally, include one more paragraph describing your character’s personality. This can include anything from a quick description of their principles, motivations, and core beliefs to their general behavioral quirks. Again, reference the sample character profile I linked to above to get an idea of what I’m seeking.
Character Background: I’m requiring everyone to include a robust character background in their character sheet (i.e., several paragraphs, but it doesn’t need to be an entire shortstory). This will aid me in shaping the roleplaying experience for your character a little better by drawing on it from time to time. It should also give me a better understanding of how you see your character and the life experiences that shaped them. I will absolutely favor character submissions with a detailed background much more favorably than those with minimal description. At 8th level, your character should have a good bit of “story” that’s already occurred for them. So, be creative! Give me an idea of what it entails, but I don't need an entire timeline. Lastly, strive to give me a few hints on where their story might be heading (see below) based on those prior experiences.
Character Road Map: Finally, I’d like just a paragraph or so more on where you see this character going. While the adventure itself is going to take you on a very specific “ride”, I’d love for each individual character to also have his or her own story thread interwoven with the main plotline. It doesn’t have to connect to anything specific in the module. Rather, give me a sense of what this PC might be struggling to overcome, trying to achieve, or hoping to avoid. If possible, give me a sense of how you see the character “changing” with regards to any of things. For instance, just like a protagonist in a good novel, the best ones go on a hero’s journey where they start out one way, but often wind up very changed and different by the end. So, if you can imagine anything like that for your chosen character concept, I’d like for you to include it in your submission. Once you do, I’ll try my level best to ensure that story gets told alongside the adventure itself.
Bolding mine, obviously. If you're hoping to be considered, I believe you have a bit more work to do. Do you need any guidance?
GM Spicer |
So a question for the GM. Would Chosen One be an appropriate archetype? I'm thinking of making a reformed Kuthonite whose mentor is a divine representative from Shelyn which is the familiar.
The archetype is fine. However, I want to be very clear that this adventure doesn't primarily take place in Nidal. It starts there, but swiftly goes underground into the Darklands. As such, there's not a whole lot of interaction with followers of Zon-Kuthon. So, a divine emissary familiar from Shelyn and her paladin aren't necessarily going to cross paths with a lot of them...much less cross swords or claws with them. So, plan your character concept accordingly.
Kazimir Kelinahat |
Wheew. Finished enough to submit. Still need to clean up skills and gear, but everything's there in this profile.
Assumed Role in the Party: Support/Skill. Can be a decent Melee fighter thanks to Snake Style, but doesn't actually have improved feint to take advantage of sneak attack, so will rely on stealth and flanking to do damage.
General Concept: Embittered former black ops agent tries to not be evil.
Player Experience: Been playing D&D/Pathfinder for about a decade now, half irl and half online. GM'd one big game (currently ongoing here), and have done secondary gm for many irl games. Love creating stories and writing from a 1st person perspective.
For full disclosure, I can only post on weekends about half the time, and I also will no have internet access from Jan 12-21 (will be in the middle of the ocean). Other than that though, I have a relatively easy desk job, and as such can post fairly regularly between 8-3 eastern.
If there's anything further I need to provide, please let me know.

Decided to submit this anyway. Worth a shot! This is NeoEvaX (DM Nex)'s submittion.
Assumed role in party: Melee, and a bit of a "foil" to keep momentum.
General Concept: Without mocking or being a character, a smaller raced melee fighter. A raging halfing.
Player Experience I have not been playing for too long. About 3 years now. I have played, and completed, in a Skull and Shackles game.
I have GMed a few long going games. A few that went to very high level.
I discovered PbP and am currently GMing a Pathfinder and a Starfinder game. I did a small Playtest one, but ended it because things kept changing on me, and it was just 1 too many systems for my brain at the time.
A child of slavery. Halflings are never treated well in Cheliax. She was purchased by a wanna be Alchemist with dreams of grandeur. He experimented on lots of Halflings. Thinking no one would miss them. He wanted to find ways to power. Jealous of people with innate magic abilites. During one of these experiments he injected a young halfling girl with a strange substance he purchased from a dark market.
The substance, Black Blood, originated from deep underground. From Orv, one of the deeper layers of the Darklands. It mixed with Kiera's blood and changed her. Turning her body into a dangerous object. The "alchemist" was pleased and continued to experiment on her. Pushing her to her limits. Forcing her to do terrible acts. Keeping her as angry as possible. She would find herself in a room filed with gas that caused her to get furious and then they would release animals, or even other children into the room. He would find pleasure in Kiera's chemically induced rage.
At some point the Bellflower network found out about these slaves, and attacked the alchemist's warehouse. Releasing the halfings held captive. Kiera was free, but first order or business was to go back and get revenge. With a bit of help from the Network she returned and killed the alchemist. Never even knowing his name or what he his real purpose was, just knowing he did terrible things and finding joy in taking him out.
With no remaining goal in life, she was free. She thanked the Bellflowers, who gave her supplies and she traveled north. She realized she had a pull down. Something in the earth was calling to her, ever faintly. The desire to head deeper tickling her mind. She traveled north to Nidal. Helping people where she could, while also looking for a chance to learn more about herself.
A small brown haired Halfling girl. She is likely in, halfling equivalent, of early 20s. A few strange scars on her body. From being tested on. With a few being from battle. Really pushes for freedom. Slavery or anyone being taken advantage of really gets under her skin.

I thought that I'd pass a concept by you before fully building it. It does include the use of a Hex that is not from a hardback book.
Murksight from People of the Wastes.
I can defnitely handle it if that is NOT allowable. But I'd definitely prefer to know BEFORE building the character :-).
The character is a Varisian Rogue/Witch/Arcane Trickster. He has the Darkland Ancestry Trait. One long term goal the character has had is to discover who his ancestor really is, to find out what HE really is.
Recently he found some clues that possibly pointed to his ancient ancestor coming from BEFORE Earthfall. Or, at least, his family predated Earthfall. He came to Nidal in order to visit the Library Without Light. His first visit to Nidal, he was utterly horrified by the way that people were treated (he'd heard the stories, of course, but seeing is believing) and started aiding some Desnan sympathizers.
Primarily an Arcane Caster he is also a passable rogue and makes a lot of use of sneak attack in order to stretch out his fairly limited spells. He often creates some kind of mist or fog in which he can sneak attack
GM Spicer |
I thought that I'd pass a concept by you before fully building it. It does include the use of a Hex that is not from a hardback book....Murksight from People of the Wastes.
Probably not the wisest build for this adventure. A lot of combat has the potential to be in the tight confines of caverns and tunnels underground in the Darklands. As such, if your PC summons mist/fog/etc. as a means of sneak-attacking opponents with his murksight hex, he'd be as likely to prevent his companions from seeing as the enemy. So, while I'm not saying the use of that particular hex is disallowed, I'm saying it's not ideal...and quite problematic.
GM Spicer |
Question about wealth and spending limits: Any changes to those %s for casters? For example, a wizard or arcanist is uninterested in spending that much on weapons. Could that gold be used for offensive wands, for example?
That question was asked earlier up thread. Yes, that portion of your starting wealth can be allocated to an offensive "weapon" in the form of a rod, staff, or wand. Certain alchemical items could also fall into that category, including some potions, elixirs, etc. If it would fall under "Combat Gear" in an NPC's stat-block as an arcane caster, it's a candidate "weapon" for the purposes of rounding out your gear.
GM Spicer |
I think I'm going to withdraw my interest from this one. As amazing as it sounds, I don't think I'll have time to finish my character with a good background in time for this. Best wishes to everyone involved, because I bet this will be a fantastic game!
Perfectly understandable. Thanks for your initial interest, Helix, and best wishes!
GM Spicer |
Would it be ok to submit more than one character concept? Of course, i assume that no more than one of them would get picked... if at all.
In the interests of limiting the number of character submissions I have to review before settling on the final roster, I'd prefer to keep it to one per player. That said, it's perfectly fine if you want to retract your current proposal and submit a different one. Basically, submit the character you most want to play in this adventure.
GM Spicer |
Before I go any further, how would you feel about a tiefling occultist?
From the Character Submission Guidelines posted on the first page of this thread:
Classes/Archetypes: Most Paizo-published Pathfinder RPG 1e classes and archetypes are permitted, but if you’re opting for something not in one of the hardcovers (i.e., from a Player’s Companion, etc.), check with me first. Non-Paizo/OGL classes and archetypes from third party publishers will NOT be allowed. I’d also like to avoid psychic character classes, as I’m just not as familiar running them or using those rules. Only one archetype is allowed per class (to avoid crazy min-max combos). Unchained variants of classes are fine, and summoners MUST use the unchained variant.
In terms of "pyschic character classes", I basically mean anything from Occult Adventures.

Another question. About the legality of some options from soft cover books. Sorry, having trouble coming up with a character I haven't played before :-(
From Paths of the Righteous
Feats : favored prestige class, prestigious spellcaster
Prestige classes : brewkeeper, sphere singer, stargazer (possibly too powerful unlike the others which I think are more flavourful than powerful)
From Divine anthology :Desna's shooting star divine fighting technique
Ivander Gracelyn |
Don't remember if this has been asked already or not but, are there likely to be many traps in this path? I'd partially built my character for dealing with them, if there's even a handful and you feel like telling us, then great!
However, if you would rather keep that a surprise in line with the earlier thinking that we are essentially a fish out of water having had our lives from before and we may or may not be particularly suited to this area, then from a non-meta standpoint, I'm happy with that too.
DeathQuaker RPG Superstar 2015 Top 8 |
Wow, only just saw this (been busy with family for the holidays and mainly only checking threads I'd already posted in as a result). I know the competition is stiff, but I'm very interested in this and will try to get something in by the deadline. Thinking maybe investigator or alchemist, but all is subject to change.

Another question. About the legality of some options from soft cover books...Feats: favored prestige class, prestigious spellcaster...Prestige classes: brewkeeper, sphere singer, stargazer....From Divine anthology: Desna's shooting star divine fighting technique...
In all honesty, I'd rather avoid incorporating many of these more complicated prestige class options (both the feats and the classes). Otherwise, it becomes an overly complicated mess of things to track and adjudicate in what's primarily going to be a "theater of the mind"/storytelling Play-by-Post game rather than a miniatures-based tabletop game. So, my apologies if that makes it more difficult for you to come up with a character concept. For now, I'd say the simpler, the better. Don't overthink it on crunch. Instead, look for a way to standout with your character background, motivation, and personality.
Daehalya Shadowsun |
Here's Daehalya Shadowsun, which is Jacob 2's (as opposed to my Superstar clone Jacob 3) submission:
Party role: Daehalya Shadowsun is a wizard, so she's primarily a spellcaster. As an illusionist, she'll lean more toward versatility/buffing/debuffing than blasting. I've leaned into the shadow savant trait, so right now she's got the shadow focused arcane school (though that last aspect certainly isn't critical and could be removed to make her a "normal" illusionist).
General concept: Growing up in Iadara where she delved into the arcane arts (including a study of and fascination with shadow magic), Daehalya eventually began exchanging letters with an Umbral Court noble, long missives that began merely as arcane discussions and then blossomed into something more. She ended up married and in Nidal, where she finally discovered her new husband's true, cruel nature. Horrified, she fled her marriage and home, escaping to the Atteran Ranches, where she pledged her services to help protect the Desnans living in secret there.
Player experience: I've been playing Pathfinder for nearly 10 years, I think? I started with D&D back in the third grade and have been doing fantasy role-playing for the 35+ years since. After a couple stints in RPG Superstar, I freelance for Paizo and several 3PPs. I've been doing PBP for 6+ years, and typically post 5-10 times per week in my games (I'm currently running three APs, and play in about a half-dozen). I'm of course happy to offer my thoughts/experiences for you or anyone else doing PBP.

Here is the link to my submission’s alias. I don’t want to post with it yet, so if I don’t get in, I can delete the alias and not have it clutter my accounts page, but it is all there.
Character Name: Professor Losindra Quill. She goes by “Losi.” (I tried to not be comical, but still be gnomish. While I’m here, I’ll note I have no intention of playing the overdone goofy sort of gnome stereotype.)
Assumed Role in the Party: As a gnome empiricist investigator, she is a support character, with a good deal of skills, especially face- and knowledge-wise, and also makes a good dungeon explorer. She contributes to combat with ranged support and extracts.
General Concept: Losi is a driven academic, particularly in areas of history, society, and magic and alchemy. She is risking travel to Nidal to see what secrets she can uncover there, and learn Shadowtongue if she can. Preferring enlightened discourse, she will always try to talk her way out of something before fighting, but is willing to fight to protect her allies and her studies.
Player Experience: I have been playing and GMing Pathfinder since the original beta 10 years ago. I’ve done freelance editing for Paizo, so they seem to have some confidence in my system mastery :) . I’ve been playing play-by-post games here for many years (feel free to look at my profile), and am currently GMing a Skull and Shackles campaign here on the boards (the only PBP I have GMed, but I have GMed a couple long-running Pathfinder campaigns at the table).
I have not and don’t use Roll20 (and really don’t want to make a Roll20 account if I can avoid it due to general “account fatigue”), but I do make my own maps and use GoogleDrive to host them (if you go into my GMDQ profile you can see the maps I use). I would be willing to do so or assist with that kind of thing for this game. I make both very simple table-based maps in GoogleDraw (easy to do on the spot) as well as create maps in CC3+ and upload them to GoogleDrive for use.
I have a good reputation in my PBPs for posting regularly and communicating when I am unavailable. I am only in a few (mostly slow-moving) PBPs so would have time available to post daily, though I note I do tend to be slower on weekends.
Note: Because her concept is a bit quirky (largely because investigators are in this odd skillmonkey/support caster niche), I did not strictly follow the breakdown for how equipment should be purchased, and wasn’t sure where some items might fall into the categories (i.e., is her robe of useful items wondrous items or can it also technically count as normal gear since that is basically what it supplies). (I also realize that robe is a weird purchase, but it felt right for the character.) If she is selected for the game I am certainly willing to rejigger the equipment as well as any other aspect of the build that doesn’t seem to work.

Lesska is now completed - note she currently owns a combat trained warhorse and saddle, but will not ride it if in the Atteran Ranches region as she is (by her background story) an outcast and pariah and thus proscribed from such activity.
Please let me know if I have made any errors Neil (or anyone else!)...

”Gareth Montgomery Spicer! It is so good to see you again my fiend! What? It is I, Xavier! What do you mean you don’t know me? Pish tosh.” Xavier bends down to the halfling server, ”That means ‘b&%+++*%. Bring me another bottle of red on the house; I know the bartender; we are good.”
”Why am I in the Atteran Ranches area? Easy! I am here to obtain the finest horses someone else’s money can buy! I must admit the people here are a sullen lot; all whisper this and whisper that. But Gareth Montgomery, you know me too well; I can not lie to you. I needed to shall we say... let the heat die down in Korvosa? Who was I to know those dwarves could not take a joke!? Just because not everyone appreciates Picoperi is not my problem. Thank you friend for the wine. Come Gareth, take a walk with me.”
”So, Gareth. Naturally I have not paid for anything back there but that is neither here nor there. Someone will cover for us. But, that story about horses is only half true. I am here seeking my love, Maria Elena Consuelo Conchita De Almedia. She might be going by a different name here in this perpetually drab place. You see, she fell into a rough crowd back in Korvosa; something about some place called Scarwall and some Midnight Lord or some such. She is my one true love that I would travel to Hell and back. Why, I would challenge the Prince of Lies himself to a tale spinning! Do not pay any attention to the commotion back there. They will not think of us. Anyway, I heard she had traveled here to this Nidal. These people must really decide if they are Nidalees or Nidalaysee. I digress. Naturally we will travel together because I must look after you. Come Gareth! Adventure awaits!”

GM Spicer, I just realized the slight issue of my character sleeping in his armor. He uses a chain coat which I'm reflavoring as the spiked chains wrapped around his chest which can't be removed. However, I know some GMs like to make sure that PCs aren't sleeping in armor which poses a bit of a conundrum when your armor is physically attached to you. I wanted to make sure that it wasn't an issue and everything was above board.
