Alessio Imeroni |
dreadfully sorry folks. i'm reviewing my signups for retrocon and i'm one table over. I'm afraid i'll have to bow out here. i was really looking forward to this group but I had already signed up for cosmic and shadow lodge.
very sorry about this.
Kara Saint-Germaine SF |
Kara claps excitedly.
EM±GM |
OK then! Roughly a week til we get started here, with the special.
I am hoping to hit the ground running on this, and want to try to keep things moving at a decent clip for this first scenario...
Its no fun to run out of time on the various sections during these specials, and then have to skip ahead to catch up when it moves on!
So will be trying to stay on top of things, and keep us in it all!
Hopefully you folks will all be good to go as well!
So do any last minute PC prepping!
Floria Avernathus |
I'm looking forward to it! I've updated Floria's sheet to reflect some purchases I made on her most recent chronicle sheet; just a few scrolls and a scroll case.
Eamon Valda |
OK I'll Ninja dot with Eamon and throw an introductory post in tomorrow..looking forward to the game!
Alessio Imeroni |
My uncle is on his death bed, so my posting may be spotty for the next week or so.
very sorry to hear that. i lost a great uncle today, in fact. my thoughts are with you.
Kara Saint-Germaine SF |
Condolences for both of you.
EM±GM |
Just as an fyi... the first part of this is supposed to just be for PC introductions and some info gathering, et al.
You guys mostly had your PC intros out of the way by this point... so now I'm just trying to fill the void for a few days... with a little more background, since you'll be carrying on here after we're done!
I need to respond slower, clearly, to drag it out.
Oo... or maybe I need a second NPC to toss in the mix!
EM±GM |
Just as a side note for the special... given we're trying to move along quickly.
In my experience, some of the more social skill reliant encounters can take a bit of time... so I'll tend to move those along after one or two people pipe up. So everyone won't necessarily get a chance to chime in all the time, if we've already hit on the important bits.
Will try not to make it too egregious. Just letting you know it may happen from time to time, so try not to feel too left out!
Also, on said encounters, make sure to mention if you're just trying to aid someone else's check, even if they've not rolled it yet. Will help sort out who's taking the lead. As well, if you fail the check, I do impose the appropriate negative consequences (This gets ignored sometimes).
Eamon Valda |
Ok apologies to everyone especially the GM...could offer a 1000 excuses but I won't ...(they're too lame)..
I'll check in once a day (at least:though I might miss a Sunday here and there)...GM if you could just adjust my chronicle sheet at the end of the adventure taking into account that I missed the beginning skill challenge sections I...promise to be active from this point out.
Sorry again people.
sincerely

EM±GM |
There are more than enough encounters during a special that missing one will not affect a chronicle computation.
Just try to check in frequently (if only to see if you need to respond to something)!
Especially for the Special... things need to move quickly! *poke*
There's lots to do, don't want you guys to miss out.
Which, reminds me!
This is a marathon... you limited resource types, be careful about blowing your resources too quickly, or you'll have none left as things get more hairy further along. You folks swinging swords, you don't need to worry about that... well, unless you count hp's as a limited resource =)
Kara Saint-Germaine SF |
Don't know if it's true or not, but every time I see an Overseer Announcement of progress made I think "hey, that's us -- the tip of the spear".
Even if it's not only us making those announcements possible, this is the best group I've worked with so far. Great job, everyone!
EM±GM |
Eamon... can I assume you will be trying to parry the first attack each round, on general principles?
The ability is a little awkward to fit into a pbp format, but we'll do what we can. I'm trying to avoid having to retcon stuff.
How about, you just add a 'parry' roll at the end of your posts, and if they come up, I'll use it, if not, then not. Or something like that.
Ripostes, well, those you'll have to mention specifically, as you get less of those =)

As they parry takes away my AoO opportunity let’s just play this battle strait, possibly starting the next battle I’ll include my parry rolls underneath a spoiler ok? However you may assume if they demon just barely hits me (by 2 or less) I burn a panche to se dodging panche’ to avoid the attack ( just once on the first attack will let you know after that)
Eamon Valda |
I accounted for it
And its your turn again, why didn't you post an action! (sorry, pet peeve of mine when players are up, and they post something, but don't actually include an action of any sort... even just a conditional one!)
GM I did post an action...HERE for round 2. I didn't see your round 3 post as I was writing my edit post at the same time you posted your round 3 exert. I really am trying to keep up here and appreciate the fast pace. However, on weekends I'm highly unlikely to check-in more than once a day. Given that reality perhaps you should bot me on weekends if I'm falling behind.
Eamon Valda |
One more thing GM...on our next initiative roll...could you please re-roll the lowest roll in our party? Forgot to mention..Eamon has the Seize the Initiative. an ability that allows Eamon or one of his allies to re-roll initiative once per combat up to 5 times a day...
For purposes of this scenario (and nearly every PFS scenario for that matter) it just means that Every combat (or the next 5)..from this point forward...I would like the GM to re-roll our lowest initiative result whenever we enter a new combat. (only one person can benefit from this per combat)
Thx!
EM±GM |
Again, Eamon, that's not how the ability works.
You have to decide, *before* they roll, if they get to roll twice.
You can't decide after knowing who has the lowest number.
If you want to use it, you can designate someone you would like to have two rolls, and I can do that. But once things are rolled, you can no longer change them.
If you check out the main Campaign Page for this, I've included a little Init spoiler that I use for cutting and pasting the initiative rolls. That can give you a good idea of who might need some divine assistance on such things.

OK No problem..just roll Eamon's initiative twice and take the better roll (the ability description does say I can take 'either' result so I'll default to the higher number) This in effect, let's Eamon roll for initiative twice for the next 5 consecutive combats, taking the better result every time.
Would this be acceptable?
EM±GM |
Kara, I think you would know that that spontaneous immolation will not work on a construct... who are immune to anything that requires a Fort save unless the spell also works on objects (which it does not)
Also, I made a mistake on the earlier token, on how much it healed.
It is not 'all damage'... took me a while to find the reference to the actual numbers. Looked the first time and didn't see it, so made an assumption (which was wrong!)
It is basically only a low level channel, at your tier (1d6).
EM±GM |
Can those of you with expendable resource-type class abilities with uses/day, put those on your stat summaries as well?
This would be for things like bombs, or panache points, or channels, et al.
Even if you forget to update it, at least it reminds me they are limited resources and to keep an eye on them.
Kara Saint-Germaine SF |
Okay, thanks GM. With your permission I'll retconn.
I believe all of my important limited-use abilities are in my header already.
EM±GM |
Just for clarification:
Okay... I think I'm picturing this differently from you
If you look at the second slide on the map page, I created a quick equivalent situation of what this effectively looks like, from the side. As you can see, there's no real straight line from you to the target due to how you have to hang from the edge of the wall, and have no option to move up until you pull yourself up at the end.
The fun of working with the Z-Axis =)
Sangkip |
Ah, and since I would see going from a wall to the corner atop it as something you could do in 5' of climb speed, I was seeing it more as (now) pictured on slide 2, which is based on ledges being less of an obstacle than your interpretation.
As I said, happy to go with yours!

Just to echo this; I'm enjoying this very much, thanks everyone! I really appreciate the evocative detail that you put into your posts EM, it makes it all feel very real.
EM±GM |
The detail is for you guys!
Gives you something to RP off of, if you've the mind, with no pressure to do so, if you're not of the mind.
I can say, 'You get hit, and take some damage' or I can say 'You get stabbed in the leg, and take some damage'.
The later, gives you the a prompt to maybe limp around in response, the former, no such hooks.
At least that's the hope... I don't manage it every time. And it does occasionally lead to lots of extraneous text to read =)
Dropping demon bits on Sangkip, that was just a bonus!
In related news, you guys are currently on page 8 in gameplay... which is nearly twice what many of the other tables have managed... so go team!
Kara Saint-Germaine SF |
Tip of the Spear, baby!
EM±GM |
Hey guys, a typically do this before we get started, but was a bit busy before, so am going back and doing so now...
But I usually do a quick audit of character sheets, just to make sure I understand the numbers, and there aren't simple errors or oversights and the like.
I will be doing that over the next little bit, and probably sending you a PM with any questions or comments.
EM±GM |
Oh, and you folks now have 2 Aid Tokens.
You have to use them in this act, they don't carry forward to the next... though this act doesn't end for a couple more weeks, so plenty of time yet.
For the record, here are the benefits you can gain.
Aid Another: A seeker performs the aid another action for a PC.
Allied Offensive: A seeker strikes a creature at the same time as the PC, increasing the damage dealt by one attack by 1d8 points.
Burst of Healing: A seeker heals all PCs of 1d6 points of damage.
Spellcasting Synergy: A seeker casts a spell at the same time, increasing the save DC of a PC’s spell by 1.
Kara Saint-Germaine SF |
Seconded.
Eamon Valda |
Um forget the healing I'll channel next round if you like....might one save that second token...but I agree with giving sankip an extra d8 dmg to take out one of these guys..
Kara Saint-Germaine SF |
Thumbs up.
Eamon Valda |
I thought we agreed to add 1d8 to Sangkips last dmg roll through the use of one of those tokens....was that damaged applied or not? Alessio suggested 2d8 but that was never seconded... But clearly 3 of us wished to use a token for extra dmg ..does the rule of two apply GM? Did the extra damage get applied...this fight is pretty tough we'd like to use all the resources available to us.
Eamon is going to Channel again..Having declared that...I still think we should use the remaining token on extra healing considering the shape the entire party is in..Please if you agree with using a token for healing make it very clear to the GM..something like "I agree with using a token for Healing" or "yep let's use one of the tokens to heal"
thx everyone.
