I've decided to apply with an Arcanist School Savant with Void as the school. Ambriel is a forlorn elf, until recently from Magnimar.

Ambriel's character sheet is almost complete except for background/personality/appearance. I'll add those and finish up the editing over the weekend.

@Moonknight: Since Void is an elemental school it requires one opposed elemental school. The archetype however requires 2 opposed schools in the way arcane schools work. Which rule should I follow?

3 Questions:

1. What was the most important event in your life?

”While I don’t remember it myself, I was too young I suppose, losing my parents would have to be the most important event. I was raised Varisian instead of Elven. When I was younger, on the caravan routes. Then later on as Magnimar really began to grow in a Varisian neighborhood there.”

Ambriel shifts around a little in her chair, seeming lost in thought or looking for the right words for a moment.

”It changed just everything I could possibly name for you. I lost everything that fit me correctly, I read about Elven history, society, culture, magic. It’s all second-hand or third-hand knowledge to me. What I gained instead, I always have to struggle to make it fit me. For example, I’ve heard the stories and proverbs young Varisians hear now as told by their great-grandparents. I’ve seen how they’ve changed over time, literally changed, or how they’re interpreted differently. Those things remain mostly constant to them through their lives. But for me it’s like trying to hold onto a fist full of sand. Yet, I’m still a product of those things. It was Varisian tales of the Black Butterfly that led me to my interest in the Void, the focus of my studies ever since.”

2. Besides yourself, who is the most important person in your life?

Ambriel looks away before answering. ”The answer to that question is… complicated. The most important people I’ve had in my life are long gone. Dead now. I was very close to my adoptive family. Davos and Alika were my adoptive parents, but it was large, a clan really. All the people in my caravan were a big family with other, slightly more distant relatives, in a couple more caravans.”

Ambriel sighs, but her eyes harden. ”But by the time the children of the children I knew when I was also a small child were coming into middle age, I had learned my lesson. Don’t get attached. I sort of drifted away from them. I haven’t seen anyone in that family for many years. I’ve always kept the name though. Kogalnica is Varisian. I’ve never hid from people. I’ve always loved people and the fun to be had with them. But I never held anyone too close or for too long. Catch and release before the bad part.”

”But then I did something very foolish.” Ambriel stares at her hands and picks her cuticles. ”I was a librarian for a couple of decades at the Founder’s Archives in Magnimar until quite recently. Due to misplaced trust in someone on my part, a valuable book went missing, stolen actually. It cost me my job, which was difficult for numerous reasons. It was humiliating, and many of the people I knew were just the kind of people who would know all about it.”

”I realized there was nobody I could count on. Nobody close enough to care or offer their sympathies. I decided it was time to take a break from Magnimar. I’ll go back some day, if I have to I can just wait the current generation out.” Ambriel smiles bitterly.

”I had heard Audrahni was living here in Roderic’s Cove now. We’d been friendly in the past, back in Magnimar. I decided to come here and try to reconnect with her. So, I guess it’s fair to say she’s the most important person in my life now. Pathetic isn’t it?”

3. How do you like your eggs and why?

”What?” ”Eggs?” Ambriel wrinkles her nose. ”They are versatile and inexpensive but almost always disappointing. That floppy and springy texture on the palate, ugh. I’d say cake, which is made with eggs. But you’d consider that an answer not in the spirit of the question wouldn’t you? Scrambled, the only way to make them fluffy. With a dash of salt, and a pinch of nutmeg, prepared by someone else, and served to me in bed.”

Do the ability score adjustment for Young characters count as a racial adjustment?

Also, does my character concept work? Or is it a bit too crazy? It's the Time Lost trait, obviously.

I don't think the concept is crazy at all. You should roll with it.

Even though it's technically not a race, I do consider ability score adjustments to fall within the racial adjustment category.

** spoiler omitted **...

I like the concept, Ambriel. Go with the archetype requirements, and have 2 opposed schools.

Applications Received:

Dakon Yaris, LN Human Jinyinei Investigator, played by Grandlounge
Remus ‘Remy’ Tomovici, LG Human UC Scaled Fist Monk, played by Brainiac
Zagulo Maresh, NG Human Oracle (Lore), played by Phntm888
Costin, LG Human Virtuoso Bravo Paladin (Sheyln), played by Pauljathorn
Dra’barri, CG Half-Elven Oracle (Lunar), played by Valjoen_GM
Varia Longlore, LG Half-Orc Sister-In-Arms Cavalier, played by Brolof
Maddie Elthis, N Human(young) Chronomancer Wizard, played by Daedalus

I forgot to mention something: Feel free to submit multiple characters. I won't take more than one per player for the game, but you are more than welcome to send me more concepts.

Are we using background skills? It's a nice little bonus that helps fill out more niche skills.

EDIT: Might the pre-eratta Scarred Witch Doctor possibly be allowed? Being able to submit multiple characters is kind of fun, especially when I don't have to stat everything out. I'm thinking about having a half-orc debuffer, going Witch, but I think it would be cool to flavor it all as traditional Varisian tattoos, essentially like the Tattooed Sorcerer archetype but as witch?

I could use the current SWD, but it is both less cool and more munchkiny at the same time (why, Paizo, why?), allowing for essentially a 22 INT at level 1.

Already a lot of applications. All but two are Cha classes oO. All are (half) human!
Will you end recruitment early if you had enough good applicants?

A question, any idea when you want the crunch? I'm partially done with it, I just wanna know for when I can drop it in the thread for you to look at.

I might, but I will give plenty of notification if I do so.

You can do the crunch whenever you want, but I won't actually NEED it until after I make selections. I feel it's a waste of your time to ask for crunch until after I select the character, and you know you're going to be in the game.

Lemme look over the old SWD and get back with you.

Background skills will be used.

The difference between the old and new SWD is that the old used Constitution as a casting stat, the new just treats Intelligence as 2 higher for all class abilities. Pretty straightforward, all told.

Are Gathlains an allowed race? I'm not entirely sure what you mean by 'paizo-approved.'

Thanks.

Gathlain are allowed.

Paizo-approved basically mean created by and published directly by Paizo. No 3rd party.

Trait-Time Lost: Aleon the Aasamir was always different, being part Angel in all, he can live hundreds if not thousands of years, while everyone around him age's normally. He can't stop thinking about how everyone use to look or how everyone will look years from now. Now he start's seeing people younger or older than they are every once in a while, maybe cause he has is immortal in that way, while everyone else is. Maybe it is because he lived too long on another plane.

1. What was the most important event in your life?
"Ah, I remember the day my parents let me live on Glorian. Ah, yes the best day of my life. It was boring up there in the Astral Plane. I want to live like mortals do, with the exception of aging." He smiles telling the story even further. "I get to take up dancing, singing, partying, just not the drinking kind of partying, making friends, finding true love, oh and don't forget the most important part, adventuring," and he raises his hand with excitement when he says adventuring.
2. Besides yourself, who is the most important person in your life?
He ponders for a minute because he doesn't know who's favorite he has. "I would have to say my dog Kirby. My golden retriever. And I've asked someone to babysit my dog while I go adventuring. Other than that my immediate family, but I think that would be a given, which is why I named them second. I have a mortal human dad, an Angelic mother, and a half brother human. My brother and I always use to play games together. And my parents, well these raised me well."
3. How do you like your eggs and why?
He ponders on this question while scratching his head for a few seconds. "Eggs, why have normal eggs, they are okay in taste at best for me. I like myself a three cheese omelette, cheddar, american and mozzarella."

I'm kind of hesitant to submit this, since the only male character I've got into a game on this site died a horrible, unavoidable, but thankfully quick death in Briarstone Asylum. (I'm serious, look at my alias list.) But, here we go...

Name: Milo Silanus
Class/Race: Human Sniper Slayer
Alignment: TN

History and connection to Roderic’s Cove:
Milo Silanus was born into a merchant family in the city of Sandpoint, not long before the goblin attack on the Swallowtail Festival. From a young age, Milo would venture out into the wilds of the Sandpoint Hinterlands with his little sister Mira in tow, ranging farther and farther from town while their blissfully unaware parents were occupied with business, with both adults and children oblivious to the danger lurking nearby. One fateful day, as Milo and Mira explored the Devil's Platter, they were attacked by three ghouls that emerged out of a cave. The children were paralyzed and nearly devoured, but suddenly the ghouls fell with crossbow bolts in their heads. One of the heroes who had defended Sandpoint from the goblin attack was returning to town and happened upon the scene, miraculously saving the children. The hero, an aasimar cleric named Forian Atrabo, healed them to the best of his ability, then brought them home with a strong admonishment to both children and parents to not wander off so far from home again.

After the attack, Milo and Mira were able to recover, but they noted some frightening changes - persistent hunger and an understanding of the ghoul tongue, most significantly. While Mira has managed to repress the influence of the undead on her and is living a mostly normal life, Milo has instead accepted the changes, giving him a slight divine connection to Urgathoa. Of course, nobody around him knows about this except for Mira and Forian, who still visits the family whenever he's free. The aasimar, while not entirely approving, understands Milo's mind, and has worked hard to keep him from falling into evil. Forian trained the boy to fight and shoot, keeping his mind off his hunger and preparing him in case he or his family are ever attacked again. The Silanus family recently moved to Roderic's Cove from Sandpoint to start a new business venture, and Milo has welcomed the move, hoping the new environment can help him clear his often-muddied head. He doesn't do much around town, occasionally helping with some of the family's merchant paperwork and continuing to hone his martial skills with his free time.

In his youth, Milo was a carefree boy, but he has become much more quiet and serious after the ghoul attack. Now that he's trained in combat, Milo has sworn to defend his family and his home - old and new - to the best of his ability to make amends for his previous failure. His brush with death has, however, led him to face the reality of mortality, and transformed him into a bit of a hedonist. Even so, he takes his pleasures with a deathly seriousness, however strange that may seem.

Questions:
1. What was the most important event in your life?

"The ghoul attack, of course. Would any of this be happening without that?" Milo shakes his head, a grimace briefly playing over his face. "There's not a night that I don't think about it. Sometimes I wish I were like Mira, being able to not really even acknowledge it anymore. But that's not who I am."

2. Besides yourself, who is the most important person in your life?

"Uncle Forian. No doubt. I love mom and dad and Mira, but they didn't save me from becoming ghoul brunch or teach me how to shoot. I wish he'd come visit more, but lay off a bit on the lecturing when he does, though." Milo almost keeps a straight face, but gives a little sideways grin at the very end that fades quickly.

3. How do you like your eggs and why?

"Eggs? Any which way. Raw, boiled, scrambled, whatever. As long as there's food, I'll eat it. Doesn't matter much how it's prepared, or if it's prepared, or fresh, or whatever. Uncle Forian keeps telling me it's bad for my health, but you don't have time to stop and think about that when you're hungry all the time, you know? Besides, all that eating doesn't seem to affect me at all."

Sihedron Hero:
Forian Atrabo, NG aasimar separatist cleric of Winlas (knowledge/travel domains). Obviously, uses a crossbow along with his holy mace.

Forian is a follower of Winlas, the archon empyreal lord of religious ceremony. He doesn't follow Winlas's beliefs that strict conformity to established practices is necessary, but the empyreal lord still grants him divine power for his efforts in documenting religious rites in Varisia. Expelled from his church for allowing a religious rite to be altered so that a foreign visitor could understand, Forian travelled extensively through Varisia, recording the various religious practices of the region. He arrived in Sandpoint to witness the opening of the new Sandpoint Cathedral, but was caught up in the goblin attack, and aided in the fight against Karzoug.

Somewhat WIP sheet on Myth-weavers. Notable features and plans: stealth and heavy crossbow focus (sniping), Spirit Touched campaign trait, Helpless drawback (I actually had to fish for a 3rd trait, I wanted the drawback but didn't have an extra trait in mind), planning for Eldritch Heritage (Ghoul) claws at 3rd. I'll complete the equipment and other small stuff if chosen.

One more question (thinking about a second character :-)). What temples (if any) exist in Roderic's Cove?

I saw that one. I assumed there was a second trait with the same name, as happens with pathfinder stuff, because people were talking about playing full azlanti with that trait.

GM Moonknight,

What about a half elven Cleric of A Sarenrae. A healer, a warrior when needed, and a friend to his companions and the towns people.. Half elf male and a young acolyte of the local church. More details to follow.

I’ve got an idea coming together: dwarven Untouchable Rager, Arcane bloodline. Not sure what campaign trait just yet, but I’ll be focusing on having as many defenses against spells as possible: SR from the archetype, Hardy & Steel Soul, etc. A dwarf who can laugh at casters, then split their skulls open with his longaxe for daring to try to cast in his threatened area.

How could the trait be construed to allow full azlanti? I'll readily admit I'm no good at the kind of intent-warping some players excel in, but I don't see any way to read that into the trait.

Scarab Sages

If multiple submissions are alright I'll have to get that Studious Librarian Bard up and on offer as well!

Parts of the wording make it sounds like the character could/might be a time traveler of sort. The question was a bit of a joke based on that, and what the clone thing was in a previous AP.

3d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 5) = 13x10=130gp

How many years have passed ingame since the other two APs?

Does the Sihedron Hero have to be alive? My RotRl Char sacrificed himself during the final battle. Is that a problem?

Chars can be from Rise otRL and Shattered Star, with side possibilities from CotCT and Second Darkness.

The Sihedron Heroes are missing, but still assumed alive at the start of the campaign.

I have characters from both if I am lucky enough to get in.

Mayken here is my second character submission, along with Ambriel. I couldn't resist making them yin to each other's yang. I'll get Ambriel submitted in proper application form later today. Her background has been more difficult to write than Mayken's.

Both characters are fully statted out, but I'm perfectly willing to be flexible on campaign trait selection if one of my characters is chosen and the group needs a better distribution of the traits among them.

Name: Mayken Vondel
Class/Race: Human Bard (Studious Librarian)
Alignment: CG

History:
Mayken was born and grew up in Roderic’s Cove, where her parents are among the area’s more prosperous farmers. While not exactly a “gentleman farmer” her father has been able to expand his landholdings to the point he keeps several laborers on permanently to handle much of the work. Her family’s financial comfort has provided Mayken with opportunities beyond those typical for a farmer’s daughter. Further, Mayken is an only child. She is pampered in the ways so common of parents who do not have to divide their affections among multiple children.

With less work required, and more time and resources at her disposal, Mayken has been able to indulge in her interests, music and history. She has a fine singing voice, and plays the violin with great expression. She is also a passionate and persuasive speaker. Mayken’s particular historical interests revolve around Varisia and the Varisian people. Her mother’s side of the family is purely Varisian, while her father’s family is of mixed Varisian and Shoanti ancestry. Mayken is something of a cultural preservationist and revivalist, studying Varisian music and dance.

She began to pester her mother about receiving tattooing in her mid-teens, and her mother finally agreed it could be done when she reached eighteen. When the time came, Mayken pushed for the proper, traditional tattooing process. Since it would require the particpation of elder clan leaders, Mayken and her mother traveled by ship to Sandpoint, where they had relatives. The tattooing and accompanying rituals took almost two months, and during her time there Sandpoint made quite an impression on Mayken.

After her return to Roderic’s Cove, she found her hometown far drearier than before. She missed Sandpoint for its theater, good bookstores, far better venues for musical performances, and opportunities to spend time with her extended relatives. For a town only marginally larger than Roderic’s Cove, Sandpoint had such vibrancy compared to Roderic’s Cove. Mayken stayed on for another year. To keep herself busy she started a part-time business doing bookkeeping and accounting for a couple of business owners who hated doing it themselves. She also kept books for some of the farmers and fishermen who were illiterate.

Eventually Mayken spoke with her parents about moving to Sandpoint for a more extended period, which they consented to since she had relatives there with whom she could live. After relocating to Sandpoint, Mayken restarted her bookkeeping services. She found enough work to meet her needs, and after she gained the Valdemar Fishmarket as a steady client she was comfortable. Mayken also met and struck up a friendship with Rojava Brishon, the only hero involved with the defeat of the Runelord Karzoug to have remained in Sandpoint.

Now, two years later, Mayken is visiting Roderic’s Cove for an extended period before moving to Sandpoint permanently.

Connection to Roderic’s Cove:
Mayken grew up in Roderic's Cove, technically just outside it on a farm. She's been away for a couple of years living in Sandpoint, and has come back home for an extended visit with her parents and local friends before she makes the move permanent.

Three Questions:

1. What was the most important event in your life?

”Oh! Let me show you!” Mayken turns around and loosens her blouse. Lowering it to expose the top of her back and shoulders, she shows off a large tattoo sprawling across her back shoulder to shoulder. It is composed of scrolling waves of bramble vines, within which are perched butterflies and songbirds. Nine-pointed stars sit at the base of her neck and cap each shoulder. Runic, arcane-looking symbols extend partially down her upper arms from the stars.

”This is the first of my tattooing, symbolizing that I have come into my majority. I may now be trusted with my family’s lore and secrets. It took a long time, weeks, to complete. My family in Sandpoint sponsored the rituals surrounding it.” Mayken pulls her shirt back up and turns around. I also received my family’s Kapenia” she says, indicating the embroidered scarf tied around her waist.

”The tattoos were painful to receive, but all important transitions involve some pain. It has etched every moment of those rituals into my memory. I have never felt more alive and complete than I did then.”

2. Besides yourself, who is the most important person in your life?

Mayken’s face turns thoughtful, and she bites her lower lip as she considers. ”That’s not an easy question. There are a lot of people who have been very important to me. My mother Linah and my father Paytah. They raised me and gave me a loving home. The family elders who have taught me so much. My first love. I don’t see how I can compare the different gifts they have given me and choose just one. But if I have to choose, I’ll name the person who is probably the most interesting. She’s certainly the most exciting.”

”Ro is one of the heroes who defeated Karzoug the Runelord. I got to know her and her spouse Rynshinn quite well in Sandpoint. She tells the most incredible stories. Her life has been amazing! She can move quieter than a whisper. If she doesn’t want to be seen, she will not be seen. Ro’s control of magic is beyond anything I’ve ever known in another person. She’s generous and has a wicked sense of humor. She also taught me some clever tricks with the starknife.”

3. How do you like your eggs and why?

Mayken is profoundly aware that the proportions of her curves lean toward the, um… voluptuous. She also knows how easily ample can move on to, well…. rubenesque for her if she’s not careful. ”I tend to eat mostly vegetables in stews, soups, and those sorts of things. Some scrambled egg mixed into assorted quick fried veggies is so delicious though!” Mayken doesn’t elaborate on her reasons.

Shadow Lodge

Okay - haven't finalized the stats yet, but here's what I'm going for.

Name Bibinka
Class/Race - Bloody-Knuckled Rowdy Bloodrager [Draconic Bloodline]- Dreamthief-Born Changeling
Alignment - CN

History –

Spoiler:
The Night Hag Golthras had great and terrible plans for Golarion. But for her plans to come to fruition, she had to die. In order to complete her transformation into a Dreamthief Hag, she had to reincarnate into her coven. After the baby grew to womanhood, she would hear the call of the coven and would answer, accept the Dreamthief's corruption, and be reborn as a full-blown hag of terrible power. Golthras chose the man who was to become her new father, a good Varisian merchant from Magnimar. He was strong, intelligent, and driven, but his blood hid the true reason Golthras was drawn to him. He carried the ancient blood of a Dream Dragon. Golthras’ coven-mate Diradle was chosen to bear the child, but Dirafle made a grave mistake in her hubris. She found that she enjoyed the father, and after she seduced him, she decided to keep him rather than destroy the loose end. The night came that the coven performed their fell ritual, and Golthras devoured the soul of the unborn child and sacrificed her body to be reincarnated in its place. But when the morning came, the father had escaped. And in short order, Marius hired on a band of mercenaries and came to claim his daughter. Dirafle was destroyed in the battle, but the last member of the coven escaped to rebuild.

Marius turned his life to his daughter, who he named Bibinka. He knew what she was, and the best advisors possible told him of the terror she could bring to the world if she were ever to become a Dreamthief Hag. So Marius vowed to overwhelm her with love, and give her tools she required to resist the hags' call when it inevitably came. He brought her into his family, as he married he brought her siblings to shower her with love. To a point it worked, but as she reached puberty she experienced the expected manifestations of her changeling blood and a dark change to her demeanor alongside the physical changes. But she also showed strange attributes that the best witch-scholars had a difficult time explaining in relation to hag blood. As the family travelled, they sought answers, and eventually this brought them to the Academae of Korvosa. They were approached by a mountainous woman, all horns and spines, soft curves over hard muscles, with glowing green eyes that radiated kindness. She wore scholar's robes over black scales with a metallic sheen, and she sniffed at Bibinka while asking if she was here for the dragon training. She introduced herself as Venture Captain Mea, and Marius recognized the name of a Sihedron Hero, the Adamantine Dragon, who had fought Karzoug and assembled one of the largest conclaves of dragons of various sorts on Golarion. After several days of meetings, demonstrations, and soul-searching, Bibinka bid a fond farewell to her family and left to learn how to awaken the latent dragon blood within her. The family agreed that, if she was to have a chance of fighting off the hags’ call, she could do a lot worse than overcoming the hags’ blood with something stronger. Bibinka, along with the Venture Captain and a handful of other students, spent the next few years wandering throughout Varisia and training. Mea would often leave the students to learn from her friends, some of whom were dragons and some of whom just had other valuable lessons to teach them. In time, all of them increased their control and aptitude in the draconic arts. Mea told them they were ready to seek their own stories, but to seek her out if they were ever in dire need.

While Bibinka still feels the call deep down in her heart, she feels that she can resist it for the time being, and that she will soon be strong enough to confront anything that it may lead her towards. Following in her hero's example, she has decided to join the Pathfinder Society and lead a life of adventure and exploration. She recently returned from her training to her family's home in Magnimar. While there, she visited the local Pathfinder Lodge and applied for a commission. While turning down their offer to send her to the Grand Lodge in Absalom for three more years of schooling, she decided to seek a field commission by displaying her value in the field. After copying down reports of ghostly activity happening within the bay of Roderic's cove, Bibinka set out to complete her confirmation. It's now been over a month since she has arrived, and her investigation has hit a wall. However, she has been making a few friends among the population, from the minority who aren't a bit creeped out by the changeling. She's content to wait for now, but would jump at the opportunity if something more interesting would present itself.

Your connection to Roderic’s Cove – She has made a few friends in town since arriving to investigate reports of ghosts. She gravitated towards Audrahni initially as they both have a tendency to creep the other townsfolk out. If anything were to threaten the town, her instincts from years of training under the venture captain would kick in - “Be strong to do good and help the good people who can't help each other.”

Three Questions Answered:

Spoiler:

1. What was the most important event in your life?
”You mean that I can remember? What’s it to you?” Her mismatched eyes regard you warily, but she seems to decide that answering wouldn't hurt her any. Clearly the ale was loosening her up some. ”When Venture Captain Mea took me as an apprentice, that's easy. My family did a good job teaching me that even as a changeling, I don't have to be who I was born to be. But it was Mea who taught me that there's MORE to me than just being a changeling...that if she can decide to be a dragon when she grows up, I can do whatever I want. Maybe that sounds dumb to you, but it was…it was actually kinda inspiring to me? At the time. Don’t..don’t tell anyone I said that, okay?”
2. Besides yourself, who is the most important person in your life?
”Umm..probably my Dad. He fought these terrible evil hags to come after me, you know? He's built his life around keeping me safe. You don't find love like that every day.” She takes a long drag of her ale. ”What about you, Audrahni?
3. How do you like your eggs and why?
”What, don't wanna answer that one yet? Okay, fine. Next time, though. Umm, okay. Eggs? I don't really like them that much. Pickled, I guess? I always do like pickled stuff.”

Silver Crusade

This is my second submission.

Name: Alinia
Class/Race: Cleric of Desna/Human (Varisian)
Alignment: CG (tending towards CN)

History: Born and bred in Roderic's Cove, Alinia has done little herself so far although she has been present for some serious adventuring by her uncle Garridan

More Detailed History:

Alinia is primarily of Varisian ethnic origin although she obviously has a little Shoanti blood as well.

Alinia was born in Roderic's Cove and has led a moderately sheltered life so far. She has inherited her mothers Harrow Deck and is, especially considering her age, a remarkably expert fortune teller.

She recently finished her apprenticeship as a cleric of Desna and is now longing to take on an adventurous life, especially one that lets her see the world that she has read and heard so much about.

She has spent considerable amounts of time over the years on camping trips with her uncle Garridan and he has taught her much about surviving in the wilderness. He has also taught her something of the Shoanti (Garridan has much more Shoanti blood than does Alinia. He is also an honorary member of the Lyrune Quah)

On several of the camping trips they ran into trouble. Turns out that Garridan is quite the competent warrior and a decent diplomat. He managed to peacefully get out of a couple of potential problems and the others he quickly killed. On one occassion Alinia had to fight off a couple of goblin warriors who made it past her uncle and she rose to the occassion

Personality: She is a good natured, happy person eager to see the world and to help others. Her Varisian upbringing does show up, however, in that she sees absolutely nothing wrong in "entertaining" people and profiting in the bargain

Three Questions Answered
1. What was the most important event in your life?

The single most important event of my life was definitely when I acquired my mother's Harrow Deck. Partly, of course, it involved the death of my mother which would make the event momentous in its own right.

But the deck spoke to me. Not literally, but in more than a totally metaphorical sense. For the first time I found that I actually COULD predict the future, at least sometimes. Before that I'd been faking it, using the usual methods of telling the marks what they wanted to know and just reading the person. But now, what the deck said actually came to pass.

2. Besides yourself, who is the most important person in your life? That would clearly be my Uncle Garridan. His deeds have inspired me. Both to explore the world and to try and make a difference. He has shown that one can start from very humble beginnings and change the world. He was part of the group that slew Queen Ileosa, part of the group that killed the risen Runelord Karzag. Not bad for a Shoanti/Varisian half breed.

3. How do you like your eggs and why?
My favourite way of eating eggs is a method that most find almost nauseating. You mix two raw eggs into some crumbled trail rations and eat the gooey mess. I learned that from my uncle Garridan. I'm sure that a great deal of the reason that I like it is that it reminds me of him.

Okay, new character. Slightly shorter answers/history than the last one, but that's more just because I haven't had a ton of time nor do I expect to have a ton over then next few days. I think she'd be fun, though.

Name: Brizial
Class/Race: Gathlain Kineticist (terrakineticist)
Alignment CG
History – Brizial grew up (literally) in a small, secluded copse just a few miles north of Roderick's Cove, that having been where her seed landed and she sprouted. For the first few years of her life, she explored the area and stumbled across the sleepy town near her home. There, she met the solemn elf Audrahni and found the two of them shared a common interest in the past and the world around them, with them admiring a similar person (Brizial, for her part, didn’t know how she knew about the history- just that she did) from the past. Since they met, Brizial made more and more trips into town, and the townsfolk became used to the odd little plant-like fey and her peculiar abilities, and she grew fond of them as well.
Connection to Roderic’s Cove: Frequent visitor with a few friends in town

What was the most important event in your life? "Well, I'd say that would be when I first met Audrahni. She was the first human- elf, whatever- that I had really met and talked to. And, I mean, now I have tons of friends! So, she taught me that even big people can be friendly, and that was an important event in my life."
Besides yourself, who is the most important person in your life? Weren't you just listening, silly? Audrahni! I don't know if she'd feel the same, but I like her. She was my first real friend!"
How do you like your eggs and why? "Like, to eat? Eggs? You mean little unborn birds? Ewww! No way! I like my eggs safely in their nests under their mothers, where they belong."

Here’s what I’m looking for. You can format the application any way you want, but this is the gyst of what I want:

Name: Mama Gnash
Class/Race: Changling Shaman
Alignment: Lawful Good
History
Mama Gnash has been a staple in Roderic’s Cove since she was young, which was quite some time ago. The unfortunate offspring of a night hag and a dwarven father, Mawna Gnash was left on the doorstep of a small orphanage. Other kids shunned her, and the staff just put her to work in the kitchens. It was here that Gnash found her first calling - she loved to cook! It was something she could enjoy in solitary or with others, and she found that others loved her food... so much so, that they began to love her. Making friends through the other orphans' growling stomachs became her passion, but resources were limited, and she often had to make due with very little.

Once she aged out of the system, Mama Gnash, as she had come to be called, stayed on as the head cook, taking care of the other orphans as best she could, feeding their bellies with food and their souls with stories. It was then that she got her second calling - that of her ancestors who had watched her come from so little, and yet have so much to give. It began as inspiration in ancestral recipes that would come to her in a dream, and then one day, as a rat which could speak, who came to tell her of her gifts.

After many years, despite her struggles to avoid it, the orphanage closed. She had made many friends throughout the years, and so she made a living as a wandering chef, moving from tavern to tavern to cook her dishes, and often to peddling healing powers or advice to those who need just a little help.

Three Questions Answered:
1. What was the most important event in your life?
"Well, dearie, let me tell you, it must have been that day I was left on the stoop of the orphange. I am sure my life would have been much harder if it weren't for those kind sisters to take me in and care for me."

2. Besides yourself, who is the most important person in your life?
"Sister Helena, the last director of that orphanage. Oh, well, she is quite old now, and been retired for years, but I still like to go check on her every now and then and make sure she is doing ok."

3. How do you like your eggs and why?
"Ah, well that is not an easy answer, because you haven't specified what type of eggs! For instance, quail eggs are great slightly poached, placed gently in a nest of grated potatoes. Osterich eggs are really only edible scrambled and folded again and again with roasted peppers and some grilled onions. A good standard chicken egg is perfect flipped over easy, just enough to cook the whites and leave those yolks bright yellow and runny. Placed on a biscuit, smothered in gravy from last night's stew, and you got yourself a little morning feast. In any case, a bit of cracked pepper and salt are all you really need to make it a good day. Here, let me fix you a plate and you can see for yourself!"

Role in the party
Mama Gnash is older (50 or so), and mothers her friends with good food, healing powers, and a dose of good advice. She is not planning to be an adventurer, especially so late in life, but she want to make sure her "youngin'" are well looked after. Her primary role will be cook and a supporting role.

For the campaign trait, she is goign to be Spirit Touched. Her shaman spirit is Ancestors, with an eye towards Heavens as a primary second choice. She will use diplomacy and charm to help others see things her way, and when it comes to combat, she will be wielding a heavy iron skillet and some kitchen knives. But let's hope it doesn't come to that.

Ambriel still needs a little bit of work, but here's her complete application.

Apologies for the very long history. I guess I got a little carried away.

Name: Ambriel Kogalnica
Class/Race: Elf Arcanist (School Savant: Void)
Alignment: CG

History:
Alika Kogalnica found the elven child Ambriel beside a stream where she had gone to fetch water. Alika supposed the girl to be an equivalent age to a human of three or four. She was in good health, though disheveled and dirty. The elf child seemed very happy to see someone, but spoke only elven so there was little Alika could learn from her about her circumstances. Finding nobody else in the area, Alika took the girl back to her family’s caravan, which was camped nearby.

Two of the caravan’s members spoke elven, but they were not able to learn much from the girl. Her name was Ambriel. She knew no family name. She had been alone in the forest and scared, but stayed by the stream when she found it because she was thirsty. Ambriel thought it had been about two days since she saw her parents, but didn’t know what had happened to separate her from them. A more intensive search of the area turned up no clues about what had happened, or who her parents might be.

A couple of days later, when the caravan was ready to move on, the Kogalnica clan took Ambriel along with them since there seemed nothing else to be done. The expectation was for someone to claim Ambriel as they traveled about asking as they passed through places if anyone knew about a missing elf girl. But as months turned into years, nobody ever did. There was no particular moment or event marking it, but as chances grew slimmer that her family would be found, Ambriel became more and more a Kogalnica. While Alika and her husband Davos were primarily Ambriel’s new parents, raising children was also a group responsibility in the caravan. Ambriel was to some greater or lesser degree raised by all of the adults.

For a while things went very well. Ambriel became extremely close to Alika and Davos, as well as many of the other adults. But with added time cracks in the arrangement began to appear. At first they were minor. As her peers passed her into adulthood, Ambriel was left behind. She was hardly changed and had to adapt to a new set of younger children who came up as her new peer group. Ambriel was a tween when old age took Alika and Davos, as well as the rest of the adults she had first known. It fell to her former age peers to become her new parents. By the time Ambriel reached about 85, roughly her late teens. Her new elders were the children of those children she had first known.

The situation created problems on both sides. Ambriel was finally an adult physically, if not intellectually or emotionally. She was also by generations the oldest person in the clan. Where she should have been an elder and leader, she was instead given to rebellion and meltdowns. For her part Ambriel had been through the heartbreak of losing all of her loved ones three times over. She had decided that in order to save her sanity, she could no longer develop deep emotional attachments to people. Nothing was ever said directly about it, but all parties felt Ambriel needed to go.

By this time the clan had been settled in one of the Varisian neighborhoods in Magnimar for a few decades. Ambriel knew the city better than anywhere else in the world so she remained there, moving to a new, more central neighborhood. Ambriel’s considerable intelligence had already secured herself a job as a librarian at the Founder’s Archive and Museum of Ages, so she had no difficulty supporting herself on her own. Ambriel maintained an active social life, mostly with human acquaintances. For a while early on she tried to establish friendships with other elves. There were other elves in the city, mostly from the Mierani Forest she discovered. They tended to treat forlorn elves as not fully elven though. While they were not intentionally cruel, Ambriel could clearly tell they thought of her as maimed or damaged. She found their condescension or pity intolerable, and so she made it her habit to avoid other elves.

Ambriel’s grand project since striking out on her own has been to understand the workings of the Void. Originally she had simply wanted to learn magic, but her interests expanded with time. She had long known of the Void. Tales of the origins of the Black Butterfly are a staple of Varisian folklore, and the Black Butterfly more than Desna or other supernatural beings or Empyreal Lords fascinated her. When she was young she would riff on the Black Butterfly’s creation: from nothing, but suddenly there fully formed, as a metaphor to describe her own discovery by Alika and the Kogalnicas.

Ambriel never considered attending a college of magic. She felt herself capable of learning on her own, and in any case she did not have the kind of money needed for tuition. If she found herself stuck on a problem she could not solve, she could always find a lover/tutor among the many students and teachers of magic who cycled endlessly through the schools. Many men, and a few women, have held the role over time. Such relationships tended to be short lived. To a person they found Ambriel a frustratingly unfocused student. She would work with focus under their guidance for a little while, but then she would move to another interest or take a break from studying stretching into months or years. It did not help that Ambriel refused to commit to anything other than the most casual of relationships.

In Ambriel’s view her various tutors were always driven by something else underpinning their love of magic. It could be desire for wealth, power, or recognition, but they always barreled ahead as fast as they could so they could reach their goal. Ambriel understood, they had so little time to make their mark on the world. But she was certainly not going to change her ways to satisfy them. Magic was only a facet in her larger project, which also included philosophy, cosmology, theology, and scientific history. No one facet should advance too far without the others she held. She was coming to believe the Void was not the absence of all things, but the absence of time. The material multiverse is subject to time, with its linearity and regularity. The Void, from which the material arose, was material or energy not subject to any such restrictions. It was pure chaos, unsortable or uncategorizable into any smaller distinct units. The material sprang from the Void, but the Void held the material together. Ambriel wants to know if she is correct, and if so how it works.

For a human generation or so this was Ambriel’s life. The last tutor she took on ruined it for her, and ended the Magnimar phase. He was a half-elf, but in retrospect Ambriel is not sure she truly knew anything more about him. He was certainly well-educated, and shared more of her interests than previous tutors had. He was also accommodating of her meandering style of magical study. Ambriel felt a connection to him of the kind she had not felt in a long time, becoming closer to him than she had previously allowed herself with others. She began to wonder if maybe it was possible they could remain together for the long-term.

One thing he continued to ask her for was access to certain books in the library’s collection that were off-limits to anyone but staff. She eventually agreed to please him, and let him use the reserves archive without supervision. He disappeared from it, taking the only known copy of a book of great value. As far as Ambriel knows, he promptly left the city. Ambriel was fortunate to avoid legal consequences, but she was dismissed from her position for the breach of rules.

The book theft blew into a scandal among intellectual and literary circles in the city. Without an apprehended thief to blame, Ambriel took the brunt of it. Rumors circulated saying she was actually an accomplice, or even the mastermind who planned it. Her romantic history, which was no secret before anyway, was now subject to moralizing. Her friends were no longer eager to be seen with her in public. Ambriel blamed herself as well, humiliated she had been so thoroughly conned that she broke her personal rules about romantic partners.

Without her library position Ambriel no longer had access to books she needed. There was no chance she would be getting any type of similar job in Magnimar anytime soon. She was socially ruined for a long while at least. So she decided to leave the city. She had heard an on and off friend of hers, another forlorn elf named Audrahni, was now living up the coast in Roderic’s Cove. Ambriel decided to go there to see if she could revive their old friendship while she took a break from things and decided what to do next.

Connection to Roderic’s Cove::
Ambriel has come to Roderic's Cove to visit her old friend and escape trouble in Magnimar. While she does intend to leave, she has no definite departure date.

Three Questions::

”What? Eggs?” Ambriel wrinkles her nose.

Chars can be from Rise otRL and Shattered Star, with side possibilities from CotCT and Second Darkness.
The Sihedron Heroes are missing, but still assumed alive at the start of the campaign.

My point was that there are 8+ "candidates" for a lower amount of "chosen".

Hey,

It's early here (EST), and that's probably why I'm not understanding what you are saying. I'm happy to clarify what I can, though.

The Sihedron Heroes will be from either Rise of the Runelords or Shattered Star (although you could make an argument for Second Darkness, but I'd prefer RotR or SS). There may have been casualties during the earlier adventures, but at the start of this campaign, there are four active Heroes, they were known to be alive, but disappeared a little over a month ago.

They set off for another adventure rather quickly -- no explanations given to those close to them, have have been gone for a month -- so they are technically missing, but it's not like this hasn't happened before.

10 years since Rise of the Runelords.

With those character threads, I would love to add new mandate Dakon Yanis.

Quote:

Dear D. Yanis,

As you may know by now the 'Siheldron heroes' have not been heard from in 4 weeks. We are putting all officers of the church on extended duty. Your placement will remain active for the foreseeable future and the deployment of additional officials will commence immediately. It is important, in this time of strife, that we remain vigilant. Consider any information regarding the whereabouts or activities of the 'Siheldron heroes' to be pertinent information that should be passed up the chain of command.

Regards Lt. R.S

None of this has to be set in stone but I really like the way this backstory connects to the broader world and the previous campaigns.

Added a current application list to the campaign link at the top of the page. Let me know if there's any changes that needs to be made.

So we are pretty much saying the same thing, also, Curse of the Crimson Throne add some possibilities (a bit more than Second Darkness).

Which reminds me I have to make something.

edit: maybe add the chosen campaign trait to that list.

Silly question #2: what about the Race builder? Making new races or sub-races (mod to old races)?

Not a silly question. If you want to submit one, along with a detailed description of the race, I'll take it into consideration.

I really don't like saying no. If you have a cool idea, it's my job to try to make it work within the scope of the game, and if I can't, work with you to compromise, so I can make it work.

Alinia has the Campaign Trait Scion of Legend. Sorry, I should have been clearer in my description. Garridan is the Legend (he participated in all of CotCT AND bits and pieces of RotR (including all of book 6).

Scarab Sages

Same here. I should have been more specific. Both Ambriel and Mayken are mine. Their character sheets and writeup are in their respective profiles.

Their campaign traits are:

Ambriel - Time Lost

Mayken - Scion of Legend

Grand Lodge

Mama Gnash's campaign trait is Spirit Touched. I don't have the final crunch done yet, but most of it is.

Grand Lodge

If I'm picked I will be going with intrigued by thassilon as my campaign trait. It works well with an investigator type PC.

So, I got bored and decided to finish up the mechanical crunch. It's all located in this Alias.
