Pnin |
Yes . . . let's be more careful and mind the ceilings.
Pnin re-enters the room and looks for traps or hidden things. Above and below.
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (14) + 13 = 27
-4/14HP
Sanrael Bloodthorn |
Sanrael checks the body that was to be a meal..and the weapons
perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24
DM Darkvision |
Pnin sees something up in the far corner of the ceiling about 20' off the ground and obscured by webs, perhaps the spider's nest?
Sanrael finds the body to be a desiccated husk, apparently a prior victim drained of all fluids by the spider. The weapons are rusted and in poor condition: long sword, dagger, war hammer, morning star, 2 short swords, and a great axe.
Sanrael Bloodthorn |
Not you Pnin!! Foolish feline!!! The original body in the webs!!
Sanrael Bloodthorn |
Are there some web covered areas still?
Pnin...can your tell if there are traps in the room?
Sanrael Bloodthorn |
maybe we can tie a rope ‘round an axe and toss it up and pull it down..
Sanrael Bloodthorn |
Sanrael looks about for one of the rusty weapons that he can tie his rope to.....
Pnin |
I'm not trained in climb. I don't think this is going to work out....
Tired of Kiryl's badgering, Pnin attempts to ascend the wall.
Give me a boost then Kiryl!
If there are no natural foot/handholds, Pnin uses his pitons to create them.
Climb: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Kiryl |
Sorry Pnin, just figured climbing = rogues. Although, looking at my skill sheet I'm +4 without armor. Ha!
After Pnin "mistakenly" steps on Kiryl's face whilst he boosts the cat-man upwards:
Nimble as a cat I always say! That's why their kind always have fresh eggs. Well done Pnin; guess you are giving new meaning to the phrase 'cat burglar'.
DM Darkvision |
Maybe you guys should get a copy of D&D for Dummies? Sanrael has the best climb skill +8 without armor.
In any event, Pnin expertly uses the remaining webs to aid his climbing technique and easily makes it to the nest which contains the following valuables: 2 cloaks, a potion and a large leather pouch with 50 platinum.
Idril Doriath |
Glad you guys could handle this task. I have a very difficult time climbing.
Sanrael Bloodthorn |
Sanrael would climb...but prefers to bring the nest down to the ground versus climbing into a nest of spiders...
Sanrael Bloodthorn |
spellcraft: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Sanrael tries to identify the properties
Idril Doriath |
If Spellcraft works to Identify sure why not.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Sanrael Bloodthorn |
Idril....i think it works like that...not 100% sure
But lets see if it sticks when we throw it against the wall!!
DM Darkvision |
Spellcraft can only be used if trained, meaning you have placed skill ranks in it. Sanrael has not trained spellcraft so can’t use it.
To use spellcraft to Determine Properties of Magic Item you need to cast detect magic or identify. I don’t see detect magic or identify on Idril’s spell list.
Attempting to ascertain the properties of a magic item takes 3 rounds per item to be identified and you must be able to thoroughly examine the object.
Retry? When using detect magic or identify to learn the properties of magic items, you can only attempt to ascertain the properties of an individual item once per day. Additional attempts reveal the same results.
Sanrael Bloodthorn |
Merci DM....as always....your pearls of enlightment are most welcome....
Idril Doriath |
Guess next spell will be identify by Idril. Oh well.
What next gentlemen?
DM Darkvision |
Pnin listens at the door but doesn't hear anything so he opens it. The 30'x40' room contains two rows of 4 coffins, one the left and one to the right of the entry. Between the rows of coffins in the center of the room is an unlit iron brazier. The room smells of smoke. There are wisps of spider webs in the corners by the ceiling. There is one additional door along the wall to your right.
Sanrael Bloodthorn |
lets bar the door....rest and heal...try to identify items...
Pnin |
Maybe the spider bite has made me paranoid, but I think we should burn the coffins. Cleansing fire!
Pnin readies for battle and looks around the room (and ceiling!) for signs of traps, secrets, or that the coffins have been moved (especially the lids!)
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (20) + 13 = 33
Sanrael Bloodthorn |
yes Pnin....youre not thinking clearly...i say we vote...bar door...rest....identify....or rush in a tale in 8 creatures possibly.....
Kiryl |
Kiryl looks about the room ~detect magic~ perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
This looks like a fine place to rest, but let's make sure there is nothing 'resting' in those coffins and no spiders lurking above.
If no magic or obvious threat detected:
Here Sanrael, help me unlid this coffin. The rest of you be ready, in case.
DM Darkvision |
As soon as Kiryl touches the coffin a cold wind blows about the room sending bits of ash and web drifting through the air, the bits of material take the shape of dozens of pairs of glowing green eyes which appear to stare directly at you watching for several seconds, then they disappear. The room goes back to its previously described state.
Pnin sees no signs of traps or creatures, but can’t tell if unknowns horrors might lurk within the coffins.
Sanrael Bloodthorn |
ummmmm
Lets rethink this Kiryl.....can you cast light?
perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23
Sanrael Bloodthorn |
curral...kiryl....what do you see in the dark?? You should be able to see perfectly
Kiryl |
Yes, yes.... Kiryl says dismissively as he casts light on Sanrael's boots, Now help me with this coffin. and shoves the lid aside.
Any result from my earlier ~detect magic~? Specifically the coffins or brazier.
Kiryl |
Good init bonus paying off! Thinking I should take improved initiative now...
Ha! Bones, just like I thought! Time for your final rest creature....
GSPA: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 232d6 + 9 ⇒ (5, 2) + 9 = 16
Idril Doriath |
Cast disrupt undead
disrupt: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 3 + 1 = 23
damage: 1d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 1 = 4
Sanrael Bloodthorn |
Sanrael remembers the cage match with skeleton
And attacks with fury
GW: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 232d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 5) + 6 = 15
