Ace pilot Orc Technomancer with skill focus piloting?

Bit of a wacky idea, but by all means stat it up. Looking forward to seeing it.

If there's still room in this one I'd love to play another Starfinder game.

I looked over the current party

Soldier
Envoy
Mechanic
Mystic

I'm thinking about a "Wise Man" type of Solarion that's filled with aphorisms and "sage advice".

THEME FEATURES
------------------------------
Theme Knowledge (1st)
You are obsessed with starships and vehicles, and have committed to memory almost every related tidbit of knowledge you’ve ever come across. Reduce the DC of Culture checks to recall knowledge about starship and vehicle Models and parts as well as famous hotshot pilots by 5. Pilot is a class skill for you, though if it is a class skill from the class you take at 1st level, you instead gain a +1 bonus to your Piloting checks. In addition, you gain an ability adjustment of +1 to Dexterityat character creation.
Lone Wolf (6th)
You know at least a little bit about handling every role on a starship, and you can sub in for certain tasks in a pinch. Whenever you need to attempt a skill check either during starship combat or to directly repair or otherwise maintain your starship, you can treat half your ranks in Piloting as your ranks in the appropriate skill for the check, if that would be better (since you effectively have ranks in the related skill, you are considered trained in the skill for the purposes of this check).
Need For Speed (12th)
Speeding in a vehicle gives you a heady rush, and you can easily handle operating vehicles at high velocities that might send lesser pilots spinning out of control. Reduce any penalties to Piloting checks you make when on a vehicle by 1. When you take the double maneuver action during a vehicle chase, reduce the penalty for each action by 1. Whenever a Piloting check has a penalty for failing by 5 or more, you take that penalty only if you fail by 10 or more.
Master Pilot (18th)
Your piloting accomplishments invigorate you, giving you renewed purpose and zeal. Up to twice per day, when you defeat a significant foe in starship combat as a pilot or succeed in a vehicle chase (meaning that you’ve either escaped a pursuer or caught or defeated your opponent), you recover 1 Resolve Point.

BACKGROUND
------------------------------
Stacy grew up on the Drow controlled planetoid Apostae in a subterranean complex of caverns and tunnels called the Heap. The Heap was a massive sprawling scrap yard which served as both work and home for a number Orcs and Half-Orcs. Unlike most of Apostae the Heap is owned and operated by a pair of common Drow siblings, the 'junk' business is seen as too lowly for Drow Nobles.

From a young age Stacy showed an aptitude for operating vehicles starting with operating her father's bulldozer while sitting on his lap. As she grew Stacy's proficiency with increased greatly, from heavy equipment to flying transport carrying loads scrap metal, but she dreamt of flying amongst the stars. After a few years working of hauling and sorting scrap she got her chance, when a Orc mercenary company needed a new pilot when the old one succumbed to "occupational hazards." When the mission was finished she slipped away and eventually made her way ship hoping until she reached Absalom Station and the Starfinder Society.

------------------------------
APPEARANCE
------------------------------
Strongly built and just shy of 6 feet tall, the young Orc is surrounded by a strange energy. Her lower tusks peak over her upper lip in typical Orcishness but her faces is sweet and unassuming.

My apologies, our mystic seems to have reappeared. However, I’ll check with the players to see if they’d want another character with them.

No worries, I saw he posted but figured I'd post it anyway just incase

Alright, players have expressed interest in a fifth so I’ll be taking on one more character.

Elbow was first. I won't "elbow" in on his game. I'm in quite a few.

Heh. In any case, if ElbowToTheFace wants to report with Stacy to the discussion thread, come on in. Your character has been requested by Historia-7 to join the group, but was running late.

Attrition has whittled our cast of intrepid Starfinders down to just two members. I'm looking for 3 or 4 more to join us. Recruitment will go for a week or so, depending on interest.

Characters will be level 3, and members of the Starfinder society. The party has just finished fighting an aquatic horror on an ocean world, and are en route to Absalom Station to receive their next mission, in the overall hopes of reuiniting the shards of Unity (of Iron Gods fame) to destroy him for good.

I'm open to all published Starfinder material, though core and legacy races will be given preference unless there's a solid pitch for something really out-there.

Oh! Oh! Me! Pick me! :)

Hi everybody.

Imma gonna be the first to throw my hat at this hot action. I'll warm up my Operative because Operatives are awesome!

Acquisitives

I'll dot here.. what party roles are the remaining to members filling? I've got Darrien here. Who was a hotshot smuggler, pilot, and sharpshooter. He is an Operative.

We’ve got a ranged soldier and a mystic.

Silver Crusade

I could make a Solarian or a technomancer in that case. As Atlas seems keen to play an Operative. Leaning towards technomancer.

Dataphiles

Would you consider a sub-tier character? Rilynn is a Lvl 2 Technomancer/Operative. I promise not to weigh things down.

Well this isn’t Starfinder Society so you’re in luck!

If you're gonna take Pilot, then I could spec in something else.

Otherwise my Op is heavy into Computers and Engineering (those things come up so much in SF that it seems like you need at least two players that are good in it.)

Just one thing to keep in mind, the game so far isn’t super ship-heavy, as I find the system pretty clunky in PbP, so focusing a character around starship combat might leave you a bit bored.

As I said, I think I'm going to try technomancer or solarian. I'm leaning technomancer as sci-fi wizard seems pretty cool. Though I'm not sure yet. So do what you originally planned if you want.

I've always thought SF could benefit from borrowing from the Chase rules from Savage Worlds.

Ah, you threw me with the "character will be members of the Starfinder Society," but I should have realized that didn't mean organized play. Since Rorek55 wants to play a technomancer, I can create a new level 3 build and fill in something the party may be missing.

If you were going technomancer, go ahead. Its more of a wanted to see one in action. I haven't had the pleasure of playing a solarian yet, so I can be the melee beef cake for the group.

With the existing party a Mystic and Ranged soldier, as effective and we'll-toned Rorek will be in the front, we could probably use another big, sweaty, heavy armored meat shield up if front.

IMHO. :)

I'm happy to play a melee Soldier. I'll work on that tonight.

Silver Crusade

can't decide If I want to play a Vesk, or a human. I've got a good idea for both.. hm.

Silver Crusade

also, what are our starting funds?

Dataphiles

rorek55 wrote:

I believe starting cash for 3rd lvl characters is 4000. If it helps, I think I'm going Human for the extra feat.

Silver Crusade

Vesk are tempting due to armor savant and prehensile tail. Plus, ya know, hulking lizardman.

If it helps you decide, I'm one of the remaining players and my character (the ranged soldier) is human.

Silver Crusade

do we want a heavily human group? heh.

There isn't much difference, though the more I think about the human solarian, the more I think it would be better for him to be a ranged solar manifestation user, or a light armor + solar armor user... that a melee solarian works pretty much just as well.

Yeah, The vesk gives me less skill points, but I just have to specialize more, instead of branching out into other things.

SO, I guess I'll just ask if people want some variety, or a human centric group?

Dataphiles

I'm going Kasatha. Last night while working on the build my mind kept gravitating toward a Samurai, and Kasathas are the natural fit for that. I'll be using the COM alternatives, Kasatha Native and Qi Adept, if permissible.

GM, would you allow this character to use a Curved Blade, carbon steel with the Many-Handed special weapon property?

Rilynn, COM alternatives are fine by me, but I can't seem to find the many-handed property. Mind linking it for me?

Dataphiles

It's on page 21 of the COM.

Many-Handed (Weapon Special Property)
A many-handed weapon is a longarm, heavy weapon, or two-handed melee weapon that normally requires two hands to wield properly but has been modified to require four hands. This innovation adds triggers, grips, balance points, and braces or stocks requiring two shoulders. A creature without at least four limbs cannot wield a many-handed weapon. Someone with ranks in Engineering equal to the weapon’s item level can add or remove the many-handed special property at a cost equal to 10% of the weapon’s price. Doing either requires 4 hours of work.
When a many-handed weapon is used to make a full attack, if the first attack hits, the second attack has a +1 bonus to its attack roll if the attack is made against the same target.

As long as you're willing to pay for the extra cost, I've got no quarrels with it.

Here is Morimoto Masaharu (alias of Rilynn Rae). All the crunch is complete and I can fill in a backstory as we go if you want to get started. Let me know when it's good to dot in to gameplay.

Here is a rough outline for Roskar. I went with Vesk.

Roskar is a Vesk of noble blood, at least, as much as it can be considered "noble" with Vesk. His parents are both high military personnel and have sway in the political scene. That said, Roskar for his part is on strained terms with his family. His choice to seek his renown elsewhere outside the Vesk military being a large contention point. Though once Roskar can garner enough prestige he is sure they will come around. Besides, while he is not willing to admit this to most, Roskar dislikes the tight social and legal structure of his people. He understands it, and understands it allows society to function better, usually, but that doesn't make him dislike it any less. Not to mention Many vesk have a habit of disregarding the fact that other races as a whole have little knowledge on the faux pas they may make in regards to vesk social graces and seek "retribution".

Roskar is a deep scarlet/red hue mostly, with tatterings of lighter or darker colors here and there. However, when he enters his stellar mode, his scale color changes.

When in Graviton mode, his scales are the color of black, midnight blue, and a smattering of purple, a trick of the light makes it look like his scales are swirling on his body.

When in Photon mode, most of his scales take on a luminescent golden hue, with some going flame orange causing him to almost shimmer like a star.

the more attuned he becomes, the greater the effect. (though the effect is blatantly obvious as soon as entering). I'm not expecting any type of boon from this flavor.

Yeah, I'll just change my Theme from Pilot to Cyberborn (to make better for t3h HAXorZ!) and call it a day.

Morimoto, Pt.1:
Awaken. Water. Meditate. Porridge. Morning Forms. Check Traps. Water. Forage and Hunt. Rest. Water. Evening Forms. Stew. Meditate. Sleep.

A cycle repeated ten thousand times. Uninterrupted. Unerringly. The endless desert of Kasath provided quiet solace, if little else. Morimoto had never stopped thinking about the choices of his fore-mothers not to move Clan Hito on the Idari. His choice had been made for him long before his birth. The cycle could be observed at any point past, present, and future, and appear the same, a perfect perpetual series of events.

Until everything changed. The red glow of dusk was pierced by a descending trail of fire that disappeared below the horizon. Roused from meditation, Morimoto gathered supplies and began to walk. Three days and nights he walked until he approached a ship. A glassy, conical starship a thousand times his arm span, settled in a rocky valley. Robotic creatures flittered about and Morimoto made no attempt to conceal himself from them. Within minutes, another creature descended from the belly of the ship, followed by two more, each bearing four arms!

Morimoto felt a stir of emotion, a sensation not experienced in many long years. He fell to his knees, overcome. The three came and looked down on him.

"Come, child," said the first, its voice not unlike Kasathan, but vastly greater.

Morimoto obeyed. One does not question one's creators without good cause. As he ascended into the ship, the giant red sun spilled into the dawn sky. He turned away, out of reverence for the body which had sustained him all these many long years.

Y'know, I never actually looked much at races other than Human, but Rorek got me to thinking (as he often does).

I think Imma go outside my comfort zone and do Android. (Well, Gynoid, as it seems.)

Dark Archive

Alright!

Oh, wait, y'all said lvl 3, not 2.

Alright I got another level to add gimme a sec.

Other than that tally ho!

Alright folks, recruitment's closed!

If the three of you want to pop into the discussion thread we'll sort out any last character creation details and existing relationships between yourselves, if any.
