Going forward Gm, can I ask a question regarding literacy. How do you rule on this? Some GM's rule that all PC's can write, others require at least one rank in linguistics.
Sorry for the delay all.
Does anyone have any desire or ideas on how to use Alf in our escape, if not I intend to send him back with some misdirection etc. Mal feels that one hobgoblin left alive to sew discord is worth more than killing him... if it can be avoided.
GM... With Mal's corruption in mind, does Alf count as a helpless foe?
Govrina Fireblood
Dom should take the Wand of Magic Missiles? Mal, can you use the Grease wand? I can use the wands with Use Magic Device, but I only have a 1-in-4 chance of making one work really without aid.
My Idea: I would suggest giving Alf a false rumor of a 'secret' cache of untold treasures you (Mal) personally know is hidden in town! Just make it a remote area away from where we want to travel and/or a hard to get place, like the bottom of a well or under the biggest barn of manure we can think of...make sure he tells as many of his fellows as possible, so it will draw off some of the raiders hopefully looking for plunder!

I'd like to claim the divine scroll of calm animals, cure light wounds, and magic stone
Vraxis Coldfire
Did I record that right as "calm animals"...really hoping it was supposed to be "charm animals" : )

I am so so sorry for the past month guys! I have had some big changes to my responsibilities at work this Fall and my routine and free time are completely shot. I don't know if it'll let up or what.
What do you want to do here GM? I wouldn't be offended if you all want to recruit a more stable 4th player, but I would prefer to write Dom off and put me on the bench rather than giving him a glorious and dramatic death. I just figure towing him around as a ghost PC or Bot is going to get annoying and I'm not sure when I can commit to a good posting rate again.
Govrina Fireblood
Awwww...Just when I thought we were on track for a good start.
Well, I certainly don't want to lose you, but the GM Fez is one with the final decision here.
Bloodragers certainly aren't hard to bot, I think, especially at low levels.
Why don't we stick it out until after the new year and see what happens? I already have a few games I'm in that are on hiatus or slow rate due to the holidays that are planning to pick back up then.
If you can't get back into the groove of things by January or so then I say we call it and recruit a new player...?
Vraxis Coldfire
I agree with Govrina. Give it some time and take a break. Sometimes these things work themselves out with a little patience.
Vraxis Coldfire
I'm traveling for the holidays but will be back after New year's.
Govrina Fireblood
So...you're saying you actually look like your avatar picture for real?
Right?
=)
Good to have you back.
Govrina Fireblood
You know if I knew what we were expecting in the future...I would be stripping every body of every stitch of armor and weapons and supplies that we can find.
But my CHARACTER doesn't know to do that right now.
Oh well. Hindsight is 20/20 right? No regrets!
=)
Govrina Fireblood
I sent a PM to Dominic but got no answer so far.
Should we finally call it?
Govrina Fireblood
Post the link for the recruitment if it happens? I have a few people that I know and trust might be interested in joining in.
Vraxis Coldfire
Sorry, rough week at work. I'll get a post in tonight once I'm home in a few hours.
Govrina Fireblood
As long as you come back Vraxis, we will always understand!
=)
Dominic Ferris II
Hey sorry gang, things aren't letting up. You have my full blessing to continue forth with a very lucky fellow.
GM Fez
Yep. Let us know if you ever find time again, offer to come back will always be open.
Now then: Govrina brought a good point to my attention, the party could use some extra skills, especially Disable Device, and pointed someone out to me who could potentially fill that role as a fifth player. Would anyone be opposed to having a fifth group member?
2nd: I've got four people wanting to join as the melee specialist to replace Dom. Is anyone opposed to playing with any of these people for any reason?
NeoEvaX
JesseHeinig
Edeldhur
ScorchedOne
And for candor's sake, here is the person targeted to be the potential fifth party member:
I'm going to be vetting as much as possible over the next day or so to hopefully get the game in full swing again.
Vraxis Coldfire
No objections to Tazo.
I've been in games with both JesseHeinig and ScorchedOne. Both are good players that I would vouch for. I don't know the other two.
Govrina Fireblood
NOTE: I had possibly considered taking disable device later and then using my TK abilities later with it using Fine Manipulation...but I was only toying with the idea. But I'm perfectly fine with things either way.
=)
GM Fez
Neo's concept is a half orc magus (bladebound).
Looks like Jesse's concept is a lizardfolk ranger.
Scorched has a concept that didn't make it into another game and he's willing to fix it up for this one.
Edeldhur's concept is a Half-Orc Bloodrager 1/Investigator X with the plan for him to start as Bloodrager, and then proceed as Empiricist Investigator.
And we have another new contender: DoomedHero. Their concept is a Dwarf Stonelord Paladin from Kraggodan.
Any of these jump out as, yes that is a concept I'd like to play with?
Govrina Fireblood
Sorry guys. I do tend to play with imaginative types!
=)
I am leaning towards Neo's Half-Orc Magus, but only because he's a PC who just took over as our GM in our Iron Gods game and isn't playing in many games as a PC right now.
Harg
If no one has any objections I'm thinking that the half-orc magus would be the best fit.
Hello all! I have updated my Alias to fit this game a bit better, and leveled down to 1 again. Only real change is I took Hexcrafter as another archetype, though it does nothing for me for while.
I had a question, how does the Heirloom item work? Sounds like it might related to a previous game or something. Is there a gold limit or something? Or should I just skip that as a feature?
I am going to skim through the current game so far and try to catch up. let me know how how I can help bring me in.
Thanks!

So I just read through the game so far Work is REALLY busy..
This is all GM discression, but these are my thoughts on my character and how to bring me in without too much trouble.
Harg grew up in a small tribe of half-orcs in the forest. One that the Darkblight overtook and killed most of the people there. I survived, but not without getting a bad 'bloom' of scaring on his neck.
Before the town was destroyed via plague he was trained by a town Shaman in the arts of magics, but before he could grasp any real useful abilities, the blight took the town. So all he got out of it was the very rough training the shaman gave before actually getting to the point.
After the sickness he traveled to Phaendar. He found some work doing small tasks around town, until he realized he was decent with numbers. So he starting going around to various merchants and helping with their books. He is literally just an accountant who helps with taxes and making sure they are good with receipts and stuff.
He made enough money for some basic gear, but does not InitiallyThink it is something he would be any good at. Turns out those skills as a child actually relate to how to use a sword. His natural Half-orc body is very strong.
He looks very intimidating, but he is actually a push-over
With the attack happening, he would have gotten wrapped up in the chaos of everything. Likely thinking he was just one of the weak townsfolk. I mean, he is just an accountant! I mean, he has been practicing some little magic tricks here and there, and has his tiny spell book he has been messing with, but those are just fun tricks. They can't possibly be useful! Now that everything has hit the fan he might get called out to help since he looks strong and has a sword. Without anyone really realizing he actually knows enough to help.
BladeBound info
So at level 3 I get a Black Blade. It is kinda my familiar..
It has an Int score of 10 to start. Has an Ego and stuff too.
It will need to come to me somehow.. The book says it might just appear in my stuff.. Replace what I already have.. or come to me via a battle..
It has an independant conscious, but has some traits similar to mine. It has my alignment. It works toward my goals, but not without argument or backlash. It talks to me in my mind.
Now here is the kicker.. It has a mission. That mission might be secret, or something it tells me. That is 100% up to you.
So I know level 3 is still a ways away. In my last game I just RPed my sword too. So I could talk to myself a bit. But the Mission is all you.
Anyway, wanted to give you a heads up that was a thing I will hopefully get to deal with at level 3
Let me know what you think. Any other modifications I should make to my character and alias profile?
Tazo
Hi everyone!
GM Fez was very kind to invite me as a fifth player to your game!
My concept is an Occultist, quite possibly with the Reliquarian archetype. The idea is that my character would be some minor Erastilian caretaker of the Riverwood Shrine, who in the surprise attack manages to escape with one or more of the relics in the shrine. As he picks up one relic, he finds that his wounds miraculously heal! This inspires him to believe that Erastil is with the town in its desperate fight against the attackers.
I'll probably make my character more castery/healery, as you seem to have lots of good martials. More to come. Look forward to playing with you all!

Yeah, I should have mentioned before, this is coming off the back of a Crypt of the Everflame trilogy. The Heirloom item was an item from a previous character from that campaign. Based on what the others have taken I'd say choose an item worth no more than 2k gp. If your characters have their chasis ready you'll be introduced very soon, so stay tuned.
Vraxis Coldfire
Welcome aboard folks. It's going to be a fun ride!
Braden Swanson
Here's Tazo's character with the basic build in the profile; may still be tweaking it but it's mostly there. Will do the background soon, probably a character who's more comfortable around animals than people. Not sure I'm sticking with this avatar photo or not.
Braden Swanson
So I just realized that technically Reliquarian and Naturalist archetypes are incompatible because they both modify mental focus. I think the Naturalist archetype fits better than base occutist for the character. (Communing with nature rather than binding outsiders.). Are you okay with that? It's not a big deal either way.
Also, I took the Animal domain which will unlock an animal companion at level 4 and plan to take the Boon Companion feat at level 5. It sort of makes this character a ranger light. No idea what animal companion, that would hopefully develop through the game. Is that okay? If it seems too strong, I can pick another domain.
Braden Swanson
Alright, I'm done. Build's set, background is up. Hopefully it fits with how we're getting introduced into the game, but I'm also happy to adjust accordingly to make that meeting happen.
Time for a grand entrance?
Braden Swanson
Thanks! Tweaked my backstory to fit in with where we find ourselves, since from a story perspective, Brad became an occultist for the first time in the midst of this attack.
So . . . if Govrina enters the room as a tiefling, I kind of picture Brad firing and arrow at her, and her immediately deflecting it into the ceiling telekinetically. What do you think?
Harg
Great! Ready to join in.
By the way my Hearloom item I decided to go with a Shawl of Life-Keeping. It is currently not loaded at all.
Let me know if you have any issues with me using that item.
