In the sleepy coastal town of Sandpoint, evil is brewing..

Greetings to ye, adventuring folk!
More then a year ago I bought the rise of the runelords anniversary edition book allong with the pawn collection set. To express my feelings bluntly: I fell in love with the town of Sandpoint (and the mayhem surrounding it) instantly. Unfortunately I haven´t had a chance to run it yet.

Will you help me with this?

I am looking for 4 or 5 people with some writing skills, the drive to make ROTRL 'their characters' story' as opposed to following it as written and who don't neccesarily view d20 games as tactical challenges.

Character submission will end at January 20th and I intend to start playing at January 22nd.

Do you think you're up for it? View the guidelines for character submission below.

Meet your DM::

Greetings, my name is Minkers and I'm a somewhat experienced GM from the Netherlands. I've mainly played and GM'd pathfinder, DND 3.5 and old/new world of darkness. In roleplaying games I'm a fan of vivid descriptions and enjoyable drama, something that PBP is a great medium for. I must admit that I haven't been in PBP forum games for the last 4 years and allthough I have played PBP for a decade before that, it was never with dice systems and I was never a GM. Still, with Pathfinders clear system and my own enthousiasm I foresee no complications in facilitating a fun story and enjoyable game.

PBP Details::

-I live in the GMT+1 timezone which explains why I my posts my come at strange times of the day.
-In order to keep the game at a tolerable pace players (and the GM, of course) are required to post at least once in two days except for weekends.(Social lives are important after all!)
-I prefer to be able to talk to my players on other mediums than the forums. I will give away my skype adress to the players who get into the game, if you don't use skype I'm willing to give away my facebook profile, if you don't use facebook we'll just send ravens or something. This is no requirement, just a preference.
–I may roll some dicerolls for the players in secret. Usually saving throws for things like diseases, some compulsion effects or other things that aren't noticable at first or that go on in the players head exclusively. (Your comrade turning on you because she was dominated doesn't have the same impact when you just read she rolled an unlucky saving throw)

Creating your character::

It's time to create a personality and backstory for your character! Personally I am more interested in reading character personalities than their grand backstories. (The really big story has yet to take place after all) I look at backstories mostly for interesting things to weave into the campaign and to make the experience feel more personal.

If you're not familiar with the campaign a look at the Rise of the Runelords players guide (both anniversery and regular edition) can help with getting familiar with the current situation of the setting. This would help in getting your character involved in the story right away! These can be downloaded as .pdfs for free at the paizo store.

Consider the following questions. Answering them is not mandatory but they might help you with getting a feel for your character.

-Who are you: (A seemingly straightforward question. What is left when you take away your characters abillities, past and future actions? What is the core concept of this person?)
-What inspired/forced/motivated you to take on the life of an adventurer?
-What is your biggest weakness? (Think personal character flaws)
-What is your biggest strength? (What seperates your character from another character with the exact same statblock.. in a positive way.)
-What is the most enjoyable thing you remember doing?
-What is the most significant thing you remember doing?
-What do you fear?
-How do you want to be remembered?
-What is the line that you won't cross?
-What do you see as future goals? Both long and short term.
-What path do you want your character to take (Answer this as a player, what kind of growth would you like to see in your characters and what kind of trials would you like to see him overcome. How would you like your character to 'end up' at the end of the campaign? Take note that this doesn't need to be in line with your characters goals. They may even contradict. These are your goals!)
-Why are you at the swallowtail festival?

Please note that all of the above are merely suggestions, feel free to write your characters in whatever way you feel comfortable.

Creating your statblock::

-20 point buy for abillity scores.
-2 traits. (There are some really cool ones in the ROTRL players guide ;) )
-Preferably corebook races but bestiary races are workable if they're especially compelling.
-Keep it Paizo. I wouldn't know what to do with 3d party.
-I only have acces to the following books; Core Rulebook, Advanced Players Guide, Ultimate Magic, Ultimate Combat, Gamemastery Guide, Rise of the Runelords Anniversary Edition, Bestiary 1-2-3. That doesn't mean that you are restricted to these books but please notify me when you're using stuff from outside this collection so I know what to look up on the system reference document.

I believe I have covered everything you need to know about submitting your character. If I missed anything please let me know!

Sovereign Court

Definitely interested. Will have to edit my character somewhat, but I think most of it will fit. As I'm in GMT, I'll probably be able to be online at the same times.

Hello GameMaster, I would love to help you with the creation of your game, and by helping I would like to enrich your world and those inside it.

Just to start off with an idea.

I would like to play as an Alchemist

-Who are you: (A seemingly straightforward question. What is left when you take away your characters abillities, past and future actions? What is the core concept of this person?)
Doctor Jedidiah Mor, Alchemist and man of science,

-What inspired/forced/motivated you to take on the life of an adventurer?
Jed was originally trained by a wise man to the south of whisperwood, he was forced to the life of adventuring when his apprenticeship ended, his replacement was standing outside the door with a bag of glittering cash... Jed had to pack his items and be on his way.

-What is your biggest weakness? (Think personal character flaws)
Jed

-What is your biggest strength? (What separates your character from another character with the exact same statblock.. in a positive way.)
Jed's biggest strength is that he can always back up, and rethink the situation in a new and objective manner.

-What is the most enjoyable thing you remember doing?
Jed's best memory is of the Elixir of Youth... a beautiful red, thin liquid that his master allowed him to watch him brew, once.

-What is the most significant thing you remember doing?
Jed discovered the source of a sickness in a tiny village in his travels, a dead body, hooked on a tree upstream...

-What do you fear?
Jed fears that one day, he will be too old and frail to mix potions and poisons, that his body will fail him....

-How do you want to be remembered?
Jed wants to be remembered as a healer.

-What is the line that you won't cross?
Jed will never harm a child, or a large number of people facelessly (like poisoning a village, or unleashing a plague)

Shane: I've read through your backstory and there's some really good stuff in there! Some if it too good to not involve it into the campaign somehow. I'm very curious about how this man finds his way to Varisia. Is there any chance that you could expend on his goals a bit? What it is that drives him to make a name for himself and what he plans to do with that name once he's earned it?

Master Dungeoneer: If you want to play an Alchemist than by all means play one! I'm eager to see what you will bring to the game!

Sorry, Vic Audalan is one of my alliases.

Sovereign Court

No worries Minkers. Yeah his background was originally written for him starting in Taldor, so that's one of the bits I'll need to update. Should be done with that tomorrow.

-20 point buy for abillity scores.

STR: 10 DEX: 14 CON: 12 INT: 18 WIS: 13 CHA: 10

-2 traits. (There are some really cool ones in the ROTRL players guide ;) )

Alchemical Adept: You are skilled in creating alchemical items. You gain a +2 trait bonus on all Craft (alchemy) checks made to craft alchemical items. Furthermore, when you fail a Craft (alchemy) check by 5 or more but don't roll a natural 1, you don't ruin any raw materials or have to pay that cost again.

Perfectionist's Brew: You know that potion recipes should be followed with exact precision. You gain a +2 trait bonus on all Craft (alchemy) checks and on Spellcraft checks made to brew potions

-Preferably corebook races but bestiary races are workable if they're especially compelling.

Human :)

Shane: There is no need for haste, I don't want to rush into this. =)

Jedidiah: Looking good so far. I'm eager to see more!

I believe Jedidiah will be in the Swallowtail festival because he was trying to convince the local alchemist to reveal a secret or two from his formula book, and we agreed to pick the conversation back up the day after the festival... after the discussion became... heated

interested. I think I may resurrect a shoanti witch I brought into a previous Rise game that died a very quick DM death, with your permission of course :)

Posting to note my interest.

Jedidah: I know just the local alchemist for this situation! I'll fill you in on the details between the end of submission and the start of the game.

Spazmodeus: I'm not that well versed on Golarion lore. I'll take any chance to dig deeper in Shoanti culture. Feel free to post a link in this thread so I can take a look at it. Whenever you're ready of course.

Wooglycakes: Your interest is noted!

Salutes Dungeon Master Minkers,

Yes Sir, I will attempt to outfit my character and get chosen for this campaign

Who are you?
"Orderic. If it's furs you want, or a nice hunk of venison ... well, just remember: everything has a price."

What inspired, forced, or motivated you to take on the life of an adventurer?
"...and that's why I can never go back to Cheliax. Let's just say that the Hellknights don't take too kindly to deserters. And I still have to make a living, don't I?"

What is your biggest weakness?
Knowing what he wants. "I remember the day that the Order of the Pike passed around notice that it was hiring again in Ordeial. The sense of duty towards your fellow men, duty towards your country, your queen ... it gives purpose to your work, you know? Nowadays, everything seems so ... empty. Flat. Droll, like. Who am I working for? Why? I'd kill for something like that again."

What is your biggest strength?
"I said it already, didn't I? Everything has a price."

What is the most enjoyable thing you remember doing?
"I remember collecting a bounty on this one hill giant, see, and once I got back to town they showered me in gold. I drank and ate and sung and whored like I had never before."

What is the most significant thing you remember doing?
"I was on patrol as an armiger along the Whisperwoods, once. My troop caught a family of halflings - slips, we called them, escaped slaves from Cheliax - and we were to bring back their heads. I was the only one with the decency to say no. The Hellknights got their heads, alright ... but they were not the heads that they were looking for. The others never saw it coming."

What do you fear?
"Sometimes, I remember the faces of the other slips and marks ... judging me, like. Condemning me. But that's not even the worst bit.

"Then I remember, the beat of horses' hooves, the marching of iron boots. I was part of that, once. I know how the Hellknights work. And I know that once the Hellknights have you in their sights, they'll hunt you down like swine: they will never leave you in peace. They'll catch up to me, and I'll have a fate worse than death. But what I am really afraid of, though, is that if I had to choose between my life and the lives of others, I'd choose my own, every time ... and that's really what scares me. Heh ... hey, at least I have the decency to tell you beforehand!"

How do you want to be remembered?
"As an old man with a loving wife, seven kids, and a farmstead, dying on my bed with warmed wine in my belly and gold pieces on my eyes."

What is the line that you won't cross?
"I don't stab my friends in the back. Probably why I have so few of them, but still ... you want me to do that? You must be out of your mind."

Interested, but big question here. I'm running a RotR campaign, and like you love the hell out of this, but I've yet to play it. I don't metagame, I dislike it entirely (hell, I don't even min/max a character I intend to actually role play), and like you, I am very much story driven. So I leave that to you, and if you're fine with it, I'll have a character up for you by the end of the weekend.

Wooglycakes: This is gold! I can't wait to see more.

KyleS: I've been wondering what I would do if this situation would arise.. And I've come to the conclusion that your knowledge of the campaign isn't really a problem. RotR is one of the most famous adventure paths if I'm not mistaken. I can't blame someone for knowing it. As a DM you probably know the horror of metagaming players, that makes it very easy to trust you on your word.

And who knows, maybe your knowledge of the AP and setting can actually be beneficial to the game! (Spotting derailments ooc or accurately playing someone with high knowledge local ic)

Feel free to submit a character!

Yay! Metagaming is one reason I personally disliked high level druids in 3.5. If you ever dealt with an ass of a player who built a druid like that, druid becomes a four letter word. But yea, if you ever have questions as the GM I'd easily help you out while keeping personal knowledge out of gameplay.

one word for you all... Poison... that's all I'll be doing for a while... poison and healing

Here's my (Spazmodeus') witch's new profile. Just background right now, I'll get stat block and questions in tomorrow.

@Minkers: Are you familiar with the Advanced Class Guide? I'm interested in playing a Hunter since I've never tried it before, but only if you are okay with DMing it. I would be perfectly alright playing a straight-up ranger. A link to the Advanced Class Guide playtest here, for your convenience.

I am interested, but I have little experience at play-by-post.
I'll have stats up later tomorrow.

Questions answered:

-Who are you:
"Good question. Since I can no longer be who I once was, I suppose I will have to find out who I am now. That is why I am on this journey."

-What inspired/forced/motivated you to take on the life of an adventurer?
"I have a second chance at life and I am going to take advantage of it to see the world and experience new things."

-What is your biggest weakness?
"My tendency to treat 'young people' like they need my advice." (She is sometimes a little too motherly and maybe a little bossy.)

-What is your biggest strength?
"I have already lived one life, and weathered many storms. I believe I can handle whatever this life has to throw at me." (What she won't admit to is that she cares for the people close to her and wants to see them succeed.)

-What is the most enjoyable thing you remember doing?
"Bringing back that white feather and becoming a true member of the clan."

-What is the most significant thing you remember doing?
"Raising a family."

-What do you fear?
"There is over a year of my life that I cannot account for. No one would tell me what happened. What did I do during that time?"

-How do you want to be remembered?
"Fondly."

-What is the line that you won't cross?
"I will not risk the lives of children or innocents. I am sure there are other lines, but I have not come to them, yet."

-What do you see as future goals? Both long and short term.
"I am an elf, now. I have a long time to think about that. I want to see the world and enjoy my new life for a while before I look to the future."

-What path do you want your character to take?
This is a hard question for me to answer. I usually don't plan my characters' advancement out more than a level or two ahead of time. Sometimes my characters surprise me with the decisions that they make, and the turn their lives take as a result, even though I was the one who made them. This is when I am having the most fun roleplaying!

-Why are you at the swallowtail festival?
"It is one of the most important of Desna's festivals! I wouldn't miss it for the world!"

What would your opinion be on an aasimar character by the way Minkers? If you want us to stick with core, I'm fine with that, but I tend to take everything I use from the PRD so that you can easily find it if needed.

Na´ra: Being a local from Sandpoint is no problem at all. I do think that we should have a talk which noble son you had a thing with though and which family now silently curses your name.

Wooglycakes: I've read through the hunter class and it looks okay. I'm no balance expert, though. Would you be willing to change some character crunch during play in the event that Paizo decides to update the class for balancing issues?

Vulorah: I know it's a hard question, especially so early in character creation. No worries, we'll see what path Vulorah takes. Do you want me to fill in the 14 month amnesia by the way?

Kyles: Aasimar aren't all that outlandish, they fit the setting. I'm somewhat familiar with them at least. Go ahead!

@Minkers: Completely understandable, and yes, I would.

Also, I'm changing Orderic's name to Steward Cavendish, which lends itself quite well to two nicknames: Stoat and Craven. He's such a charming fellow.

I will update my alias page with the hard crunch of numbers soon!

What I am thinking in terms of his connection to Sandpoint, though, is that he came here a few years ago, and is hired help for the town guard, tracking and fighting goblins and other nuisances for the town. He has begrudging respect and even perhaps friendship with Ameiko, the owner of the tavern that he lives in, but he comes into conflict often with the sheriff, who is convinced that he is a lawless good-for-nothing (which he is). Is there anything that we should discuss about his backstory prior to the beginning of the campaign?

I'm interested. I'm thinking about running a gunslinger(mysterious stranger) but will reconsider if you prefer to not have guns in the campaign.

I'm sorry Steward and LilWily. I can't write a long reply because I should've left for work 5 minutes ago. (Shouldn't have stayed up allnight either)

I'll reply when I get back from work.

LilWilly: Gunslinger? A believable and compelling character goes a long way regardless of class.

Radiant Oath

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Rulebook, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game, Starfinder Society Subscriber

Interested! Very interested! I intend to play a dwarven wizard!

I originally built this character for a higher level RoTR game I was applying too. I think the backstory would however still be workable at level 1.

I would be interested in joining. My character's stats and background are in his profile. If you have too many casters, I will be willing to switch to his sister, Chella, who is a rogue. I'll post her stuff later. I'll be an active poster, and love the idea of playing a smooth talking, compulsive liar who is constantly fighting with his personal devil. Also, he's Varisian, so I get to have my character wear scarves. Scarves make anything better.

Dotting for interest and are there any alignments your not okay with having in your games Minkers?

My crunching of much numbers is done: Steward Cavendish and Nasha, his amazing bear.

I was starting to write a Relationships section on my character, but I think I'll continue it after the party has been finalized.

Who are you: "The names Jack, Jack Erizo. And if you got something that needs doing I’m your man. No job to hard or task to great."
What inspired/forced/motivated you to take on the life of an adventurer? "My Ma used to tell me tales of back when she would travel around looking for adventure where ever she found it or where it found her. She taught me what I needed to know to survive out in the world and my father taught me how to use, make and maintain my gun among other things. So now I set off to find my own tales to someday tell others and inspire them to the life of an adventurer."
What is your biggest weakness? "I’ve been known to charge in first and rely on my skill and wit rather than think everything through."
What is your biggest strength? "My ability to improvise and adapt to danger and my unwillingness to give up. I will get the job done no matter what gets in my way."
What is the most enjoyable thing you remember doing? "All the training and learning I did with my parents before I left on my adventure."
What is the most significant thing you remember doing? "I was hired to defend a small trading caravan when we were attacked by bandits. They took us by surprise. There weren’t many but they did manage to wound some of the other guards. I ran after them and took a few out before the other guards were able to catch up with me. All in all we fended them off with a few wounds and no deaths on our part."
What do you fear? "Causing the death of those close to me."
How do you want to be remembered? "As a man who did what needed to be done when it needed to be done."
What is the line that you won't cross? "Betray those who rely on or trust me."

Oh my, those are a whole bunch of replies.

Wooglycakes: I'm okay (and more than a little bit excited) with everything fluff and crunchwise so far. There are some details that we should discuss indeed but that will happen after the submission period ended and before the game begins. I'll post more about that in a minute.

Lilwily5: I feel like I owe you a longer reply. I have not been able to form a definitive opinion on guns in fantasy settings, and I've been trying that for over a year. However: I can't help but agree that the gunslinger is a kick ass class. So, once more I say. Build a gun slinger, I'll not judge the character for it's class. Make him interesting and we are good.

Archpaladin Zousha: I'd be interested in seeing your dwarven wizard!

Lukain Callinova: I like the idea of the born-again Sarenrae-ian. Would you be willing to expand on your character a bit? (maybe with help from the questionnaire?) I'm very interested in knowing more about your character.

Brinn Argentari: Thanks for your enthousiasm. I wouldn't worry about your class choice. We're early in the submission stage and right now I'm more interested in the individual you are going to bring to the table than in the class role your character will fill. As I said in my reply to Wooglycakes; I will elaborate on that asap. Do you think you could flesh out your character a bit more though? What is it exactly what the abomination wants? Who would Brinn be if the abonimation was never there? Would he then still go to Sandpoint merely to start trouble?

Wolfgang Rolf: Everything is negotionable. As long as your alignment adds to the story and the fun for the group instead of distracting from those aspects we should be good. If you're planning to play an evil character (and I'm kind of suspecting you are ;) ) than try to stay clear from the “lol murder rape and pillage lol so randumb.” attitude. Be smart evil instead of a&&!&@~ evil. Remember most evil characters have to be smart because the consequenses of evil actions are usually quite crippling and I´m not going to hold my punches. There´s a reason the good guys usually win in the end after all. As said before: Keep it interesting and keep it fun for everybody. If you didn't plan on playing an evil character than the above tips go straight to the people who are.

Jack Erizo (AKA LilWily5): We're off to a good start! I'm interested in learning how gunsmithing became a trade in your family for it is very rare. Oh and what motivated you to come to the Swallowtail festival in Sandpoint?

Writing this post took longer than I had expected and I had planned to create another post detailing how the transition from character submission to the first session will go. We already have more than double the number of willing players than I am comfortable Gming for. Adding to that I want to keep this topic open so people can keep fleshing out their characters without feeling like they need to rush it and because I want to harvest as many potential players as possible. For maybe a second group in the future or to jump in the game when somebody else stops playing. So sadly enough I can't accept everybody.

But I have to head out for a bit. I'll give another update in a couple of hours stating how I'm going to choose the characters for this group.

You guys are great!
-Minkers

You should be happy to hear that nothing annoys me more than the act of ruining other peoples fun, so I don't intended to do anything of the sort. I want my character to add to the experience instead of distract from it, so he will NEVER engage in behavior that will disrupt the party or ruin the players fun.

Minkers wrote:

Your suspicions are not far off :)

Minkers wrote:

I loathe this type of evil character.

Minkers wrote:

My favorite kind of evil.

Minkers wrote:

I don't expect you to and I hope you wont, I want there to be real danger to take into consideration when my character contemplates a sinister act.

Super, glad I can use that part of my background. As for the noble, I'm open for suggestions.

Another idea I had was to have my spirit patron be a mystery to Nar'a and more importantly myself. Instead of knowing what I'll be getting at 5th level, we can have it reveal itself organically during the game; you can choose something relevant to the story/entity you choose is the patron. Just an idea.

Hello Everyone :)

May the best team pull through

Hi there! I'd like to apply with this character. Morythine is a dhampir monk. His stat block might need some revision, and his ridiculously long backstory needs to be finished and then summarised for GM sanity. Still there's more than enough to get a flavour for the character. It's bedtime my side of the world so I'll do some more fine tuning when I wake up in the morning.

Hi Minkers,
I had not come up with anything for the missing time. I was going to leave it as a "noodle incident." But if you want to come up with something and lay it on her, that would be cool, too. Especially if it is a sudden deja vu type situation.

Hail GM! As a guy who has a group in Runeforge right now, I loooove this adventure. Quick questions: would you allow me, as a person who knows this one well, to play? And would a goblin character be potentially acceptable?

Lol. Goblins rock, but on this AP I can totally se it ending up something like this. "Hey, this one goblin corpse seems oddly well equipped. I mean he even had camping gear." The adventurers look dumbfounded at the mayor seemingly in tears "Wait, you mean this one was on our side?"

Well I have started this campaign a few times, never got out of sandpoint... but I think it'd be something along those lines

Questions and answers:

Who are you: Lukain Calinova. Former Scumbag and now devote follower of the Dawnflower. I think. Well you can never change who you truly are but you can always seek to do good!

What inspired/forced/motivated you to take on the life of an adventurer?

Once it was tobecome the greatest thief in the inner sea. Today... well who's gonna give you a real job after 10 years in Korvosa's royal penitentary.

What is your biggest weakness?
Honesty is just another word...

What is your biggest strength?
Humbleness.

What is the most enjoyable thing you remember doing?
Me and Gwen on her 16th birthday...

What is the most significant thing you remember doing?

Stealing the Master of Coin's wedding ring...

What do you fear?
To sway from the true path. I'm being way too honest with you...

How do you want to be remembered?
As a true devotee of Saerenrae.

What is the line that you won't cross?
Killing innocents.

What do you see as future goals? Both long and short term.

Become a respected citizen. And in the long run. Find a woman have children...you know be a family man.

What path do you want your character to take?

Really I can't tell you, which to me is the interesting part. Is his conversion real or will his old habits catch up with him again. It all comes down to opportunities and the company Lukain keeps.

Why are you at the swallowtail festival?

I just returned to Sandpoint after being away for so long. I hope to meet a lot of people I haven't met in ages. Not quite sure what I'll tell them when they ask me: "So what have you been up to?"

Oh, splendid! The swallowtail festival! I've been looking forward to this for a very long time. Humans have such delightful little festivals, and the food and nick-knacks are always so interesting

Orynion is an elven archivist bard I made a while back for another RotRL campaign that didn't really get past introductions. I believe the crunch is all good to go on his statblock here, as well as a decent description. I can modify if anything is completely out of place. I'll need to check on the point buy. As a note, I own and have skimmed through thr RotRL anniversary edition, but that's about the extent of my knowledge of it. I can work on the questions later.

-Why are you at the swallowtail festival? Mogawp am not supposed to be seen, but Mogawp want to see, so Mogawp sneaky sneak to festival.

Mogawp began life as a Seven Tooth goblin, scavenging the refuse that Sandpoint threw away. But as he searched through the piles, he began to wonder about the lives of those who tossed away such wonders. Who were they? What great treasure must they have if they constantly discarded such wondrous things?

His curiosity lead him to slink through the streets of Sandpoint, first at night and later during the day. It was on one of these forays that he happened to pass the House of the Blue Stones. There he overheard Sabyl Sorn speaking to a group of school children about the greatest treasure: wisdom. Mogawp was hooked. He had no idea what this wisdom stuff was, but he knew he wanted it. So every day he would slink into the town and listen and watch Sorn's lectures and exercises. After a while he would copy her, doing the intricate moves as best he could, thinking this must be some sort of way to get this wisdom-treasure.

At some point Sorn noticed, but sensing some difference in the little gob, she did not chase him off. And as time went by and he proved to be no danger, she eventually invited him in. It was like befriending a stray cat: it took a long time and a lot of food. Slowly, Mogawp came to be a student to Sorn, one whose slate was so blank she could write upon it as she would. Over the course of three years, Mogawp learned Common and learned the teaching of Irori. He's by no means a perfect student, he misunderstands and he fights against his natural urges, but he tries.

And thus we come to the Swallowtail Festival. Sorn warned him not to be seen, that others may not understand the goblin's path, but Mogawp was too intrigued. He snuck into the Festival and even now hides beneath a wagon, waiting to see what wonders await!

I've submitted this character to several RotRL games, and made it into two of them.

One died during the initial assault.

The other was basically just declared dead in the glassworks.

Gudada as shown is a 20 point build with 2 traits (and is still 1st level), but he does have an advanced race guide alternate race feature - instead of 1 bonus feat, he'll get 3 (at 1, 8 & 16th levels) that MUST all be Skill Focus.

I'll give you a chance to provide some feedback before I look at answering your questions from Gudada's perspective.

You can follow the profile to see some examples of posts in character, and how much worse they got as the games started falling apart around me.

Hello, I am/was running the game referenced above. I can vouch for Mr Purrun's skills and dedication as a poster. The game collapsed through no fault of his but when slowly 3/5 of the players disappeared.

He does post regularly and his characterization of a Varisian rogue is quite compelling.

I would have him back in another game of mine without hesitation, and recommend him for your game without reservation.

Go get 'em, Gudada!

What is it exactly what the abomination wants?

Sorry, I should have been less obtuse. The 'abomination' was just a playful way of saying the Rhakshasa blood within him. They are smooth talking outsider predators akin to demons.

Who would Brinn be if the abonimation was never there?

The Varisian people are based on the Romani from what I've read. The idea of the character would be someone who otherwise would have lived a normal, Varisian life free of the worst stereotypes of his people, but is forced, by his blood, to control urges that represent the worst of what outsiders believe of his kin.

Would he then still go to Sandpoint merely to start trouble?

Not trouble as much a chance to let out his inner demons in a safe setting. Drink, eat, and be merry with every excuse to do so.
