I will be starting a Curse of the Crimson Throne PBP game and am looking for 4-6 players. I've never run a PBP before, but I've DMed plenty of Pathfinder, and lurked a bit on the PBP games on this site.
We will be starting with the Edge of Anarchy module. Any Pathfinder class is fine. Races from the Advanced Race Guide are fine as long as you can justify it with your backstory. Your character should have a solid connection to the city of Korvosa and a bone to pick with Gaedren Lamm.
Assuming enough people post by the evening of Friday March 8, I will review applicants and we will start shortly after that. Please be available to post once per day. I see there are a few other CotC games that have started recently or are recruiting, so I will leave recruitment open longer if necessary.
Other details - 20 point buy. Full starting wealth for your class. Choose a campaign trait as well as two other traits. Full HP at level 1 and 3/4 HP for each additional level.
I look forward to your character concepts and questions!

Typhon B'Ru is a river rat, a child of the mean streets and dangerous waters.
But Ty didnt die. He recovered and in fear fled to the edge of town along the water front making his way as a river rat and salvage man. All the time living in fear of Lamm.
Typhon has grown a lot over the last summer and isnt afraid anymore. In fact he's acquired a few daggers and is looking for Lamm.....
Fluff delivered. will make the crunchy bits tomorrow. would love to play this one. started it at one time, but group fell apart before we got anywhere.

interested. had a few ideas i was pitching, none of them seem accepted so far.
an Undine Priestess of Seiryu. has draconic blood due to religious rituals and fights with a Jian. more martial than caster. likely a dragon disciple built using sorcerer and fighter (starting fighter). will likely require permission for the tiefling armor of the pit feat to represent the draconic scales on choice parts of her body.
an angel blooded holy knight, wields a hand and a half espada ropera with amazing grace. wears very little armor and focuses more on not getting hit than soaking up hits. probably an angelkin from blood of angels kensai/black blade magus w/ dervish dance and one of the chart abilities to pick up the racial dexterity bonus she lacks. will cover a martial role
an anemic purple-haired pajama-clad Samsaran wizard apprentice. should be bedridden, tries to compensate for the lack of study caused by her illness with diverse talents pulled from past lives. Samsaran sage bloodline sorcerer with the human favored class bonus (to represent spells pulled from past lives) and eventually the 1/2 elf paragon surge spell (to represent instant temporary rememberance of a spell from a past life). the racial requirements on those abilities may need to be waived as they seem fitting for a character whom has had many past lives
an elven street magician who seeks to blend the two. using magic to augment her skills. will be an arcane trickster (starting wizard) whom will likely cover the rogue role.
a silver haired human male of weretiger descent, said to have the blood of beasts running down his veins. trained to protect his half vampiric mistress and wife, until she dissapeared. male reskinned catfolk natural weapon ranger
a mixed blooded human female with mismatched eyes, blessed with the blood of the queen of the inferno. impulsive, irrational, violent. female human sorcerer of the fire elemental bloodline. ifrit works too.
an oni blooded berserker of 8 feet in height. carries a massive sword and tends to be crude and savage. fighting like a beast with a blade that weighs nearly as much as most humans. onispawn tiefling barbarian with the bonus hit point per level alternate racial and the large size option in blood of fiends. could be either gender. likely female.
a tian female cursed with the blood of an illithid running down her veins. she has learned to create a psychic network through which she can heal others and share both enhancements and pain. a reskinned elan vitalist with a few alternate racials. will provide a bit of healing.
a half vampiric child cursed with the taint of shadow. eternally young, a performer by day, and a brothel worker by night. charges sickos through the nose for what they cannot get legally elsewhere. female dhampir bard. need permission to swap cures for inflicts

Out of curiosity, how do you feel about crafting? I've got a concept running in my head for a Huntmaster Cavalier with ranks in Craft Weapons and Craft Armor, eventually building up to taking Master Craftsman and Craft Magical Arms and Armor. He would certainly not be optimized for it and would definitely not be crafting any magical super-weapons but it would be fun to do.
Edit: If you don't like it, I can drop the crafting stuff pretty easily.

Everything looks great so far, guys! Glad to see such a quick response! Tuesday is a busy day for me, but hopefully I can give more insight tomorrow - I've just skimmed everything for now.
Lumiere, I'm pretty flexible, so without looking up the specifics of each combination, your ideas are probably fine. I'll take a closer look tomorrow and give more feedback.
True Repentance, any race is fine. The 'featured races' in the ARG are easiest to work with, but if you have your heart set on something crazy, we can make it happen if you are able to role-play it.
Kellan - for the traits, that's fine. Getting linguistics as a class skill isn't really a game breaker!
Ptolomaeus - crafting is fine, but I will take a more detailed look at the crafting rules as well as a look at the timeline in the overall campaign. I want to make sure it won't take 3 months of ingame time to craft something awesome, but the campaign takes course over only a few months.
Loup Blanc
I'm definitely interested... I'm thinking a dhampir synthesist summoner (I promise not to be broken) with the Love Lost trait, and I'll be making use of an old alias...
I've been searching for years now, and still can't find him... sometimes I wonder if it's been worth it all this while. If all the looking is worth my time, if it isn't just a waste...
But whenever I think of this, I think of my dearest Aziria, and the love we shared. The joy, the contentment, the acceptance I found with her, more than I had ever expected to find in all my cursed days. As I am, I had hoped at best for an existence alone, doomed to be an outsider, wanting only solitude. And yet she found me, and took me in, more than I had ever dared hope for.
And then she was taken, in the night--the time of my people, the time which had been mine. The time I swore would be mine once again.
This man who had her killed, this monster, this 'Gaedren Lamm'... He is my quarry. The one after which I have hunted these many years, the one I sense myself finally nearing. The one whose name was on my lips when I made this pact, when I sought assistance from the outer realms in my search. The one whose name will be in my mind until the day I die, or the day he is put in the ground.
Gaedren Lamm... I will find him. I've found some of his men already, scared them. Told him of my coming. I cannot use my name--that life is behind me now--but I still recall what I did give.
"Tell them the Prophet comes," I said. "And I foresee the death of Gaedren Lamm."
Also, question: as a dhampir, could I take the Shadow Caller archetype for the summoner? I know it's normally reserved for fetchlings, but I think it works well for the character (and dhampir in general, if you ask me).

Well... if time is going to be an issue we could handle it any number of ways.
1) I drop the crafting aspect to keep things easy
2) We adjust the time needed to craft an object
3) Flavor it as him having a number of projects that he works on a small amount each day that culminate in the production of a magical weapon or armor when he needs it to.
Edit: I'd find it amusing if we added an element of chance to option number three, where he takes a masterwork weapon or piece of armor, aims for a total enhancement bonus but we randomly determine exactly what abilities the item gains.
These are really all up to you as I am perfectly happy to do any of it.
Tessa Alee
Alrighty, took longer than I thought to make a good mystic theurge plan.
Tessa Alee was born to a roving caravan of Varisian gnomes. She showed early manifestations of fire magic, and was often forced to walk alongside the caravan instead of riding for fear of setting the wagons aflame. Tiring of this, and eager to learn more about magic, Tessa bid her clan farewell and traveled to Korvosa to study at the Acadamae.
She was accepted and enrolled, and learned a few simple spells before the despicable Gaedren Lamm framed her for a murder she couldn't possibly have committed (a man smashed to death with an Earthbreaker... by a weak gnome girl?). The setup was so obviously fake that Tessa never saw trial, but the blow to her reputation saw her expelled from the Acadamae, and blacklisted at the other institutions of learning.
Dejected, Tessa is biding her time in Korvosa. She doesn't want to return to her clan caravan as a failure and has no money for private tutelage. Tessa earns a few coppers every day by mending torn clothes, putting on corner shows with prestidigitation, and lighting streetlamps in the evening with spark. It's enough to keep meager food in her belly and a leaky-roofed room in a run down tenement over her head, but nothing else.
It seems that Tessa's luck might finally be turning when she falls in with a group of strangers who all share a common grudge...

This is a game, so most of my rulings are "sure, how can we work in whatever crazy idea so that everyone has fun?"
Lumiere - with a closer look, those concepts look okay. Pick whatever you feel would best fit in Korvosa!
Ptolomeus - #3 sounds pretty fun, let's do it! You can't really break the game creating non-magical items. And once you get to magical arms and armor, we can come up with a fun mechanism.
For example, you say "I'm upgrading my sword from +1 to +2." Okay, you can finish it in half time. You roll percentile dice and get a 45. Looking at the Weapon Special Abilities table for minor items, a 45 gets you a shock enchantment. Let's pretend your Craft skill bonus was +5. Adding or subtracting 5 gives you the choice of an item from 40-50. So you could choose from shock or ghost touch.
I laughed for a few minutes thinking about your character saying "Okay guys, I have 10 minutes and I'm gonna craft something! I have NO IDEA what it will be." Ten minutes later... "Wow! I made a sword!"
Loup - I am curious, how do you plan to not be broken as a synthesist summoner? I'm not saying no, just asking how. With the synthesist summoner combined with the shadow caller, would the eidolon be a separate entity or are you wearing your shadow eidolon as a skin?
Silver Prince - Lawful Evil is fine unless you start disrupting the party. Use the 20 point buy system in the 'Getting Started' section of the core rulebook (http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/gettingStarted.html) (11 costs 1 point, 12 costs 2 points... 15 costs 7 points etc)
So far we have possible submissions for:
- Red Ramage - Cleric/Wizard/Mystic Theurge
- (withdrawn)Alaric - Archaeologist Bard
- Lumiere - one of everything! (TBD)
- Kellan Barstow - Trapper ranger
- Parinaa - Monk
- Ptolomaeus - Huntsman Cavalier
- ZetaGilgamesh/Corwin Avelard - Wizard
- Chakka/Typhon B'ru - Knifemaster Rogue
- Loup Blank - Synthesist Summoner
- Dorian Leafthorn - Skirmisher Ranger
- Silver Prince - to be determined
Loup Blanc
For one thing, my prelim work doesn't include min-maxing to the extreme. My character will be viable if he doesn't have his eidolon on him... just, maybe not quite as much so. He's potentially a switch-hitter from combat to combat, except instead of bow and sword, he has summons and his eidolon. I also won't be going the MASSIVEZOMGEPICEIDOLON route; I have a concept in mind, and I'll be striving to keep that, even if it isn't the most optimized plan of all time. So, for example, I won't be flying at level 1, and I don't plan on having 20 bagillion natural attacks that all deal 3d6 damage and are magical.
As for combining them, yes, it's a shadowy form that envelops him and improves his abilities, particularly stealth and some combat. It's not necessary, but I like the flavor... and frankly, Stealth works a lot better for the idea than UMD does.

Cool, that sounds great. I'll work up my crunch shortly.

i was strongly considering the loli dhampir performer/brothel worker (Skills) or the undine dragon priestess (Martial)
but the silver haired 'weretiger' and the purple haired anemic pajama clad magician sound just as fun.
the dhampir has the issue of the difficulty finding healing due to her undead heritage. and i don't know your stance about an immortal 'child' working at a korvosan brothel. though it makes sense in such a depraved city.
and the dragon priestess will take a long time before she comes into her own. and she has the downside of being excessively oriental. which will make fitting her rather difficult.

Samsarans actually have an alternate racial feature that would fit really well. It lets you add spells to your list from other spell list of the same type (arcane/divine). I was half-considering it for a Samsaran ranger I had planned out to give him a little more versatility with his spells. It could probably net you some spells from the druid list.

Zauriel Thuum
http://www.dndsheets.net/view.php?id=48735
I'll admit this was a rejected submission to a previous game, but I really, really want to play this character.
Born and raised in the city of Absalom, Zauriel came from good stock, his immediate family consisting of his father Caltha, an ex-adventurer, ex-magic item vendor, and now an old elven wizard managing a bookstore and a few spare oddities. His wife, Valuna, adventured alongside Caltha, her expertise relying on nimble fingers and a sharp tongue. After suffering many a dangerous adventure, the parents were set on sheltering young Zauriel at least until adulthood.
They gave Zauriel an education and were more than pleased to hear that he was an exception student of the arcane arts. Zauriel looked to his father as a role model growing up, admiring the elf's success and insurmountable knowledge. Zauriel's development as a wizard came along smoothly, and he eventually graduated from the arcane academy with flying colors.
Zauriel, now an official wizard, felt a great emptiness overtake him. He lived comfortably, had a gifted mind, good parents, and several great career paths ahead of him. Despite everything he had, he felt 'incomplete.' It was the only word he could describe it as whenever his parents asked him about his troubles. Even when he talked to his professors, their words were distant, dead, and what he had already heard before.
One thing he did know was that his expertise was unneeded in Absalom. With no other direction than wanderlust and the desire to apply his talents where they were helpful. After hearing the tales of his professors and their journey throughout Golarion, Korvosa stood out as the most exotic and highly recommended. With no plan other than self-exploration, magic, and curiosity, he leaves with his parents' blessing and towards what may very well be his new adventuring career.
Highly inquisitive and just as curious, Zauriel uses his mind as his most valuable tool. He comes off as apathetic when morality is brought up; in Zauriel's eyes, he simply doesn't believe that he can solve all the world's problems and claims his application of magic and mind is far more beneficial to everyone. Good and evil are irrelevant, and law and chaos are even more so. While he shows compassion to the weak and abhors the obscenities of the wicked, he will only help as much as he can afford to do so.
However, he is very polite in discussing his philosophical views and views the more extreme morals of others as useful in their own right and for accomplishing certain goals for the overall balance of the universe. Zauriel is the kind of man to find value in all things, his utilitarian mind neither optimistic nor pessimistic. As such, his accepting nature makes him quite tolerable in the eyes of his company.

You guys didn't make this easy, that's for sure. After lots of reading and re-reading, as well as trying to make sure you weren't a party full of wizards and rangers, I've chosen:
- Typhon B'Ru- rogue knifemaster
- Corwin Avelard - wizard
- Tessa Alee - wizard/cleric/mystic theurge
- Bandru - zen archer monk
- Bosch Glasthane - huntsman cavalier
I apologize to those of you who didn't make it. I can tell you guys put a lot of work into your characters and came up with some very interesting concepts. If you weren't selected and someone drops out, I will come back to look for a replacement from those of you who have already submitted.
I will get the OOC thread up shortly and link it here.

Hello friends, we have gotten the Crimson Throne adventure path well underway, but have lost a player. Our party could use a buffer or healer type character (cleric, bard, oracle, would be the top choices, but I am open to any class that can help fill this role). We currently have a wizard, a sorcerer/oracle, a huntmaster cavalier, and a rogue.
If you are interested in applying, please read the CotC player's guide, and some some of the gameplay to see that this is the sort of campaign that you're interested in. Should you like to join us, please create a third level character using the 20 point buy system. Due to the progression of the storyline, campaign traits are not available at this point in the game, so you may choose three traits. See the 'Campaign Info' tab for additional house rules. Core races are strongly preferred. You also gain 2500g to spend on equipment. +1 magic items and wands/scrolls of level 3 or lower are readily available since Korvosa is a fairly large city.
Our intrepid heroes have been assisting the Korvosan Guard, helping local swordmaster Vencarlo Ossirini, and the shaman Thousand Bones of the barbarian Shoanti Tribe. The part has made their home base in a building that was once a fishery.
Some other ways your character could encounter the party:
-The party will soon be going to investigate the lair of a necromancer who has been buying bodies in Korvosa. Were you his former apprentice, kidnapped by this necromancer, or seeking your revenge on him?
-The churc of Abadar has the most strength out of all the gods worshipped in Korvosa. Perhaps you are one of his devotees, who is interested in helping keep law and order during the civil unrest that is currently occuring in Korvosa. Worship of Pharasma is also common, though her clerics tend to Korvosa's dead and maintain a cathedral in the city necropolis.
Please post your interest here and if I accept your application, I will let you know the next steps. I am delighted to provide more details about the campaign and recent events, if you are interested, I'd just rather not post spoilers on the forum here.
