recharging a staff: Each spell cast from a staff consumes one or more charges. When a staff runs out of charges, it cannot be used until it is recharged. Each morning, when a spellcaster prepares spells or regains spell slots, he can also imbue one staff with a portion of his power so long as one or more of the spells cast by the staff is on his spell list and he is capable of casting at least one of the spells. Imbuing a staff with this power restores one charge to the staff, but the caster must forgo one prepared spell or spell slot of a level equal to the highest-level spell cast by the staff. For example, a 9th-level wizard with a staff of fire could imbue the staff with one charge per day by using up one of his 4th-level spells. A staff cannot gain more than one charge per day and a caster cannot imbue more than one staff per day. backstory: Trey never knew her birth parents. She grew up in the orphanage system in Korvosa. Sometimes going to a home but then returned for one reason or another. But one reason seemed to surface a lot was the fact that she had a glow about her that was unsettling. Little did she know that her glow was her celestial heritage. Eventually she ended up in a small orphanage attached to the church of Sarenrae. Trey was finally happy there. Because of her age, she was considered too old for adoption but too young to live on her own.. Trey found work at the temple just cleaning at first then help in small ceremonies. Eventually she was to become a full Acolyte. Trey worked hard and now stood at the end of her journey to become a priestess. All that remained was the field work. Trey removed her priestly garb and became one of the city folk. She entered the lower districts, healing those that needed it; Working in missions, feeding the homeless, wherever she was needed. She was working with a group of street urchins left homeless due to their parents succumbing to addiction, when she met a small boy. He called himself Toby, and he had a similar glow about him as well. Trey worked closely with him everyday teaching him to read and write; until that one day he disappeared. Nobody knew or saw what happened, Toby was just gone. Trey continued her search and discovered that several other children turned up missing as well. She reported these findings to the authorities but they did nothing. Trey did not possess the power to find them herself. She needed outside help. Perhaps it was fate or just coincidence, that help came, but not to her. A group of adventurers recued a group of children from Gaedren Lamm. Toby was among them. Trey was able to track down where they were staying and was soon reunited with Toby. Toby told Trey all about the group that saved him. Trey was overjoyed that Toby was safe but also the one responsible was dealt with. For several days Trey wanted to contact this group and that them but she did not know where they could be found or a got description of what they looked like. She eventually became content that Sarenrae would bring them to her when the time was right. Trey continued her work in the lower districts as well as caring for Toby or seeing to his well being. Then things started to change. With the riots and unrest in the city, many Korvosans have been injured physically and emotionally. Loved ones have been killed by being in the wrong place at the wrong time and others have escaped to seek your help. But you've noticed something unusual. Many of the bodies have been disappearing from the scenes of the riots. But Trey found a clue: a simpleton named Elkaris. He approached your temple, asking to take away bodies, claiming that he was delivering them to the Gray District, where Korvosa's dead are buried. You know that typically, the clerics of Pharasma see to all aspects of burial themselves and would not cart the dead away haphazardly in a wheelbarrow. Upon questioning (and possibly threats of how much trouble he was in) - Elkaris explains that he delivers bodies to a partially collapsed mausoleum deep in the Gray District, in Potter's Ward, near the southern edge. A toppled statue of a gargoyle marks the mausoleum's entrance. Trey decided it was time to take matters in her own hands, may Sarenrae protect her. She headed toward the Potter’s Ward |
