Caelus Sense Motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Horgus response to Caelus's polite response is quiet but Caelus cannot help but think maybe Horgus was guessing upon taking a look at Oynar. Afterall He and Oynar are unusual to say the least.
Aravashnial on the other hand now fires a barrage of questions at Caelus.
[b]"An Eidolon? What an interesting creature. Could you describe it? It's behaviour?, What does it eat? Is it scaled, hairy or a mix inbetween........
As Anevia, rolls her eyes, her eyes sharp as she looks around.
GM Rolls: 1d20 ⇒ 1
As the leading scouts move forward, they come across an even smaller cavern from where they come from.
This smaller cavern appears to have once served as a campsite or temporary lair. A torn bedroll lies next to the cold remains of a fire. A pile of bones, broken equipment, and rubble lies just past the campsite.
Naravash Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Red Stick Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Red Stick notices something that Naravash seemed to have overlooked, the campsite is clean and not dusty.

Sarthonn |

As Sarthonn enters the smaller cavern and sees the scouts closer than he had expected.
"How are things looking up there?" he calls, trying to be speak so that Naravash and Red Stick can hear but the sound does not carry too much farther.

"Fascinating..."
Under the pitiul gaze of both Anevia and Horgus, the eidolon is barraged with questions ranging from color to preferences and it seems to keep the elf occupied as every answer brings forth five more questions.
Horgus himself is beginning to find it difficult to keep his smirk from his face and even Aneiva has a slight curl to her face as they both look out into the far darkness.
"Now how about your fangs, are they curved inwards of straight?, Claws? Retractable? Fly?, Slither or fins? Fur water repellent or scaled for hardness and resistance to more harmful liquids or even fire? How tall would you be? Fish or Poultry?......."

Red Stick Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Instinct drives Red stick back before anything else as he senses that something else had already made its home here.
Indeed his senses were right as two pairs of feelers pops out.

Just before the scouts discover the cockroaches, Oynar has been standing next to Aravashinal, letting the blind elf touch her head and flank, even touch the point of one of her triangular teeth. The eidolon seems amused by all the curiosity... but her head snaps around, ears flat, at Naravash's warning.

Sarthonn |

Sarthonn hears Naravash call out and looks in the direction of the sound.
Am I supposed to be able to see the cockroaches? They are not on the map. Also, rolling initiative.

Sarthonn |

Roger. I get it now.
Alerted to the presence of the cockroaches by Naravash, Sarthonn jumps into action.
"First maggots and now roaches. I had no idea the area under the city was so unclean. Watch yourselves!" says Sarthonn.
Drawing his Morningstar on the move, Sarthonn swings the weapon at the body of the closest cockroach.
Attack with Morningstar: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
damage, if a hit: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
I'm guessing that is a hit?
Sarthonn feels the Morningstar slam into the body of the creature.

Morgrym Steelhammer |

Hmm... Well at least there be no demons ta deal with.
Morgrym makes his way in front of the injured and readies to hit anything hostile that comes close with his Warhammer.

![]() |
Cockroaches? They're currently lodging complaints with the United Vermin Monster Union on not being able to perform their duties. Seems like the last three tables that hired them, refused to allow them to strut their stuff. They claim that the maggots got the better deal.
Naravash's shot takes a coackroach as it emerges, straight in the head. It slumps immediately as its partner emerges as well only to take a well aimed blow from Sarthonn smashing its head to a pulp.
Aravashnial lol
"Where is the danger? A well placed spell should be able to take it out. Tell me where?"

Sarthonn |

"Don't worry, Aravashnial, the next time we will save one for you to blast with magic, " says Sarthonn.
As everybody files into the cave, Sarthonn searches the campsite to see what he can learn.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

Caelus Oklir |

As the others search the campsite, Caelus, bidding Oynar to wait with Aravashinal, stands by the entrance that the party did not take, spear in hand, just in case.
Moved Caelus on the map. He'll just stand a little out of the way of the entrance and keep an eye out.

A thorough search of the room turns up a torn bedroll, three candle stubs (each can burn for 30 minutes), a bent fishhook, 10 feet of badly frayed hemp rope, and a copper brooch depicting a bat perched on a mushroom— both of the bat’s eyes are tiny amethysts.
This brooch is worth 200 gp.
There is nothing else in the room.

"That Brooch seems valuable but I have not seen its make anywhere in Kenabres."
Aravashnial
"The items found maybe useful since supplies are short here."
Anevia
"If there is nothing else, we should keep moving."

"Red Stick" Reegar |

Moved on the map.
"You haven't, Horgus? That's rather important, actually, but it's yet one more mystery we can't worry about right now. Let's talk more about it once we're out of here and safe."
Red Stick moves on forward, bow in hand, keeping an eye out as he approaches the intersection ahead.

Naravash Avernus |

Naravash frowns as the group prepares to move onward, glancing once more at the bones. Inheritor help us or our fate might be the same. He kneels down briefly beside the remains, signs Iomedae's sword over the bones, and whispers softly, "Thank you for the supplies, friend, whoever you were." He then rises and catches up with Red Stick.
"Well, we've done well so far. Let's hope our luck holds."

There is nothing else living besides yourselves it seems. Those scouting find themselves at an intersection as there are two passages, it seems.
One goes South (A3) while the other leads East (A4).

Caelus Oklir |

"Agreed. A quick glance south, and then east." Caelus and Oynar will take up their same position - a generous space after the scouts.
As the group begins to move, he quietly asks the blind wizard "Have you made much study of creatures of the Great Beyond, Aravashinal? Beyond what most crusaders pick up about demons, that is..."

Sarthonn |

Sarthonn stands at the intersection while the scouts go south.
"I'll guard here while you cover our back. Give a yell if you need me to charge down there, " he says to the scouts.

![]() |
As Naravash moves along South, he discovers;
A stone ledge juts out at a right angle on the south wall of this cavern, fourteen feet off the ground. The leather strap of a backpack hangs from the edge of the ledge, while above, a narrow fissure yawns up into the dark.
DC 20 CLimb Check to scale this ledge
As Caleus engages the wizard in quiet conversation, he learns quite abit on demon lore such as their nature, the possible types, their normal prey, behaviour, powers and insinuating that Horgus would know quite abit being a cultist and could be part of the reason why the wardstone fell...........

Naravash Avernus |

Naravash spies the ledge and the backpack, shaking his head at the treacherous climb. His eyes widen in realization after a moment and he fishes through his pack for something that might help. Smiling to himself, he draws out a length of rope and a grappling arrow, and after knotting and securing the rope to the arrow, fires up toward the ledge.
Grappling Arrow (vs. AC 5): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 Success!
Naravash then takes his time (take 10) hauling himself up the rope to the pack.
Climb (DC 5): 10 = 10
Recovering the pack, he returns to the group. "No trouble, but I did find this."

![]() |
The pack itself is a well made with a symbol of Iomedae proudly worked into the Backpack.
10 days of trail rations
a flint and steel
a set of caltrops
two flasks of oil
12 arrows
potion of cure light wounds (Labelled)
potion of lesser restoration (Labelled)

Sarthonn |

Sarthonn continues to stand guard at the intersection, making sure nothing can approach the group unnoticed from the rear .
Once again on guard duty. At least here there may be a need for it, he thinks to himself.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

![]() |
The paths are clear but it seems that trouble is brewing behind as Aravashinal seems tired about giving lectures on the lower occupants of hell but insists on arranging the party's order which happens to put Horgus in front and Anevia in the middle reasoning that Horgus being a trained warrior could contribute to the front lines while Aneiva could help in the scouting of enemies.
Judging by Horgus face, he looks about to explode.
Only those not scouting may respond to this. No One's got Knowledge local or nobility?

Sarthonn |

Sarthonn has Knowledge (Nobility) with a feat bonus, but no ranks yet. I'll make a roll right in case the dc is 10 or less.
Knowledge(Nobility): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
That's no help.

Morgrym Steelhammer |

I've got nothing.
Morgrym turns to Horgus and says So yer a trained warrior? What weapon are ye comfortable with, assumin' we be in straights dire enough to require yer help?

![]() |
Horgus puffs out his chest.
"I, my good dwarf, have taken lessons with the finest swordsman in the world in the noble arts of the Rapier. An elegant weapon yet deadly in the hands of a master."
Horgus seems proficient enough it seems but maybe not up to the skills he claims.

![]() |
No Horgus doesn't own a rapier
Horgus sniffles at Sarthonn.
"I suppose I could do with such an uncouth weapon, however if you should find such, I would very much appreciate it as it is indeed a weapon of class well suited to one such as yours truly. For now as I accept your offer, I shall leave the heavy fighting to you and lend my aid whenever it seems fit."

Sarthonn |

Sarthonn draws a dagger from his belt and hands it hilt-first to Horgus. "Let's hope you don't need to use this but it's better to have and not need than need and not have. If we find a rapier, you will be the first in line for it."
Not sure what the next actions are. Is the group ready to move east?
