Wonders in the Weave - Part I: The Dog Pharaoh's Tomb (Inactive)

Game Master Warped

On an isolated demiplane, the Pathfinders explore an Osirian ruin transported from Golarion by a powerful sorcerer centuries ago. And though the Pathfinder Society believes the fruits of their delve to be ripe for the picking, the unnatural landscape surrounding the tomb and a run-in with an unexpected guest make getting out with the treasure a tough task for the PCs.

Zaquielle seeing the hostiles defeated, nods and smiles, yet she doesn't get down off her elevated position. She stands guard over her friends as they search the bodies of the treasure hunter and the lizard folk, her bow ready as it seems to scan the horizon.

Well done my Lady, Aroden truly guide your arm.

Then he help Sandor search the man and his non-human followers.

You're all monsters!

In one sweeping blow, Lady Natalia drops the quivering lizardfolk, the fight having already left him.

Shandor searches the treasure hunter, with the aid of Rodrigo, and finds several magical items on him: potion of cure moderate wounds, +2 studded leather, +1 short sword, cloak of resistance +1. He also finds pieces of treasure from the Dog Pharaoh's tomb, which he determines to be the infamous Canid Carcanet, a pearl of power (1st level), and a lens of detection.

Canid Carcanet:
The Dog Pharaoh, who called himself the Jackal Pharaoh in life, was among the most powerful mortal worshipers of
Lamashtu at the time, and he fixated on her jackal-headed form, enslaving armies of gnolls led by jackalweres and dog-headed yaenit demons to battle his rival, the Illumined Pharaoh. Before his defeat at the Illumined Pharaoh’s hands, the Jackal Pharaoh crafted this bronze-and-onyx amulet in the shape of a jackal’s head to symbolize his mastery over the doglike monsters of his patroness’s creation.

Aura faint divination and transmutation; CL 5th
Slot neck; Price 15,000 gp; Weight
DESCRIPTION
This copper and onyx amulet is shaped like the howling head of a jackal and grants its wearer a special connection to hyenas, jackals, and other doglike animals. Three times per day, the carcanet’s wearer can take the shape of a Small or Medium canine (dog, fox, jackal, wolf, etc.) or hyena as per the beast shape I spell. Additionally, the wearer benefits from the constant effect of speak with animals to communicate with dogs, hyenas, and doglike animals.
CONSTRUCTION
Requirements Craft Wondrous Item, beast shape I, speak
with animals; Cost 7,500 gp

In addition to the equipment and treasure on the man, a thorough search of his person reveals an unsigned letter instructing a Gerban Lanier to loot the Dog Pharaoh's Tomb before the "reptiles revolt against our influence" and a map to the tomb from what appears to be a cave network several miles to the north labeled "Muckmouth." The shiny ring on his finger is actually an Aspis Consortium signet ring.

Two hundred yards east of your confrontation you discover a series of flat-bottomed skiffs loaded with sacks of gold, gems, and art objects, all likely taken from the Dog Pharaoh's Tomb.

"Looks like we've found the missing treasure," says Natalia. "I wonder who they were?"

She checks the "bounty hunter" for any identifying materials. She's been through the Icebound Outpost, which is technically out of order for the meta-story.

Icebound Outpost:
Specifically, she's looking for Aspis Consortium or Golden League badges, insignia, etc.

Take 20 to search: 20 + 9 = 29
She'll also Detect Magic on everything, just in case.

"So, I think we've fulfilled our mission! Time to head back?"

D'oh. Completely missed the part about the Aspis Consortium ring. Are we going to have time to head back and buy equipment?

Silver Mount Collection Map | Beacon Below Map

The scenario series assumes that you're going straight into the next part in the tapestry, but there's no reason you can't head out, make some purchases, get some glares from Aram, and then head to the next part in between scenarios and pick back up right where you left off. That's the beauty of PFS!

"This is very troubling," Sharna says in response to the discovery of the Aspis ring. "The Consortium both has access to the tapestry, and some modicum of control over the locals, it seems. I believe that we should return post-haste to Aram Zey to apprise him of the situation, gather any needed supplies most quickly, and then, no doubt, our orders will be to investigate this cave complex."

So just to clarify, daily abilities won't reset? Heh, I may regret spending some things. Ah well, let's rock it!

Sharna can at least take a few of the odd marsh herbs for later study, to see how being in the Hao Jin tapestry for many plant life cycles has possibly altered their properties...

Sharna may select any one of the following boons

Boon selection:

Boon 1: Lingering Resonance:
A recent encounter with an enemy spellcaster left your body strangely receptive to spell effects. At the beginning of a scenario, you may announce that you are using this boon. The next time that you fail a saving throw against any spell or spell-like ability from an enemy spellcaster, have your GM write the name of the spell below. Choose one of the following benefits, and cross the other off your Chronicle sheet.

• When you cast the listed spell, you may increase the DC of the saving throw by 2.

• When you roll a saving throw against the listed spell, you gain a +4 bonus on the save.

You may use this bonus once for free, after which you should check the box below; each additional use of the selected benefit costs 1 Prestige Point.

Boon 2: Long Distance Support:
You heard the Decemvirate’s call to arms as the Fifth Crusade began, but for whatever reason the society did not send you to the front lines immediately. You may nonetheless send extra supplies to aid your fellow Pathfinders. At the end of any scenario that does not take place in Mendev or the Worldwound, you may choose to spend 1 Prestige Point to send a cache of necessary supplies north to aid the war effort. On a line below, have your GM record where the scenario took place and initial the entry. Upon filling all five lines, you gain two benefits.

First, you gain a Mendevian Commendation for your tireless efforts to supply the crusade. A Mendevian Commendation grants you a cumulative +1 bonus on Charisma-based skill checks to influence Mendevian Crusaders (maximum +3).

Second, as a swift action while fighting a creature with the demon subtype or bearing an unholy symbol of a demon lord, you may grant all allies that you can see within 60 feet a +2 circumstance bonus on attack rolls, damage rolls, and saving throws against those creatures for one minute. When you use this second ability, cross it off your Chronicle sheet.

Boon 3: Mendevian Weapon Training:
Queen Galfrey of Mendev understands both that poorly equipped crusaders are of little use to the ongoing war against demonkind and that an inadequately trained crusader cannot make effective use of good equipment. As a result, those who dedicate themselves to the Fifth Crusade have access to training and equipment that might not otherwise be available. When you would be permitted a Day Job check, you may instead spend 4 Prestige Points to receive intensive training with a specific weapon or suit of armor. You receive a masterwork version of the weapon or armor, and you gain proficiency in that specific weapon or armor (but not others of its type). If you are already proficient with the selected armor or weapon, you instead gain a +2 bonus to CMD against disarm and sunder combat maneuvers targeting the chosen item.

Choose the weapon or armor from the following list: breastplate, glaive, heavy shield, or longsword.

Boon 4: Moment of Glory:
Whether it is by fate, fortune, or circumstance, you are able to tap into a hidden reserve of power at just the right moment to perform a truly extraordinary feat. By activating this boon as a free action, you become a mythic character (1st mythic tier) for 3 rounds. If you fall unconscious due to hit point loss during this time, you automatically stabilize without needing to attempt a Constitution check. In addition, once before this effect ends, you may use the surge mythic ability to increase any d20 roll you just made by rolling 1d6 and adding it to the result. Using the surge is an immediate action taken after the result of the original roll is revealed. This can change the outcome of the roll.

When you use this boon, cross it off your Chronicle sheet; however, anytime you successfully complete (earning the maximum possible number of Prestige Points) a scenario that using the “hard mode” option, you may have the GM sign this boon. You may use this boon one additional time for each such signature you receive.

Huuuuhm! So many options. I feel that Mythic is probably the most powerful, but I have avoided all the mythic rules cuz I don't really care about them and I like my PF the way it is. So, I may regret this, but I'm going to go with Long Distance Support, thank you!
