and prepare yourself, Sequoya, since the narrative is taking us there, we will be meeting you in Igniscoeli, the plane of fire (roughly speaking)!
In addition to the 20,000 gp I said before, add an "amulet of fire resistance 5" to your starting gear. You were sent by someone to the plane of fire, we just need to figure out "who" and "why" :)
I'm assuming that because this is a planned adventure, the three of you discussed (off camera) the details of what will be done while you are gone with your respective sergeants. Culkin will continue making white obsidian. Your council members will help to run the city in your absence. etc
Yeah, I'm all good for that. Ibinu will purchase 5 more flasks of acid on the way to the key-crafting scenario. Give him a few options to use other than his claws and not break his vow to craft or use his alchemical abilities.
That is, of course, unless even throwing a purchased flask like that would do it and make the Lady displeased.
--Which major tribe did you grow up near? (north, east, or west)
North Tribe (Inyakatho, not a fanatic, but at the same time, devoted.
--Which minor tribe did you belong to? (or do you belong directly to one of the major tribes?)
Are there names of the minor tribes? I'd think perhaps a less insular minor tribe that has regular contact with the Northern tribe. She may actually be that point of contact.
--Many hunters/huntresses act as the 'priests' (for lack of a better word) of the oreads (there are no clerics or warpriests in this setting, so each race uses a different class as a priest stand-in.) Were you being trained as the next in line for your tribe? Did you flee your responsibility? Or are you on an important mission?
On an important mission as one trained for the priest role I guess. It would explain my being in Igniscoeli, the plane of fire. Not necessarily super devout, but reliable. That may be the reason she was selected for this task, not necessarily cut out for ministering to people or handling ceremonies, but her focus and intensity are useful in other ways (think Inquisitor as oppose to Cleric for a parallel)
--Lots and lots of crazy stuff has been happening in Hearth over the last few months, and Hearth is the de facto capital of the land, so I could definitely see someone being drawn by A) the danger and interest B) the need for the tribes to see what those crazy ifrits are up to or C) some other agenda we can work on
--One thing that would be of major interest to most oreads: a Quiet Elder (a very large tree, roughly like a demi-god to oreads) has started growing directly in Hearth (a Quiet Elder has never grown this far south before)
Sequoya’s heard of the Quiet Elder in Hearth and has intentions to investigate, but was given a more important task requiring her travel to Igniscoeli before getting the opportunity.
I realized the minor tribes are a list in my DM notes :) Here are some of the less isolated tribes that are roughly in the North Tribe's territory:
--Ambrosia: extremely spiritual, given to ingesting herbs, mushrooms, etc as part of ceremonies to connect with Forest and elementals. More tolerant than the East concerning agnostics.
--Night Shade: near the northern tip of forest, hard warriors that fight the Dark and survive in one of the coldest places in the land. Difficult training from all warriors from a young age.
--The Weeping Willows: concerned with funeral rites, tending of grave trees, planting of Graywoods. Respected by the more religious tribes, scoffed at by more militaristic tribes.
--Kudzu: One of several splinter tribes all calling themselves Kudzu (there is one in the West and East territory as well). Masters of medicine, and strong culture towards birth and expanding the tribe's strength.
Since Ibinu is unavailable starting Friday (I think) and I haven't heard from Kallik for a few days, I'm planning on letting the scene sit over the long weekend. (I will still be checking in here and there to answer any questions you have, Sequoya.)
That means less time pressure on Sequoya's stats being done "right away", and we shall start anew on Tuesday. Sound good?

Sorry. There were tornadoes a all over the state on Monday, I left work and the sirens started for that area. So I was busy getting all my stuff saved off my laptop. And yesterday I was kind of catching up. But I am back.
One quick note about magic stone - since undead really aren't a thing in this setting, you can have it be the increased damage when you use it against darkspawn.
That works! That might tie in well. Maybe I'll go with Nightshade, sent to investigate leads to things that will aid in the fight against the darkspawn
1) You original mission was to a) check up on the new Quiet Elder growing in Hearth, and b) to find out any information on spawn-slaying spells, magic, etc from the ifrit lands
2) but you were interrupted by:
Sequoya:
No rush on your background, but I was thinking that someone important to you like a sister, parent, etc was kidnapped by an extraplanar being, like an efreeti. We can work out the details (if it sounds like something you would want to do)
I love the idea of the tiger companion by the way. Are its eyes made of Tiger's eye?
Sequoya, I'm planning on you coming into the scene maybe Wednesday or Thursday (I'll specify in Discussion when that is happening). Is that reasonable, or do you need time for anything else? Anything I can help with?
Ibinu, since you got some great heal/perception rolls:
Ibinu:
You see that So Khong is not merely tied to the tree - judging by the burned and blistered tissue where his skin meets the black wood, he has been melted--for lack of a better term--onto the tree.
You have no idea how to remove him from the tree. Doing so would very likely kill him.
Okay, I chatted with Inam's player cause I really want her to actually weigh in on our very moral dilemma. He said he would try to catch up tonight. I'll try to post tomorrow morning if he doesn't get the chance to.
Since it is the weekend and we're also waiting on Inam, I think now is a good time to introduce Sequoya into the story. This will start as an intro to how you ended up here, how long you've been here, etc. I will post soon.
and just to clarify, because I know I threw a lot of terms out here in the beginning:
Ifrits are the fire people that inhabit the central areas of the land (just like oreads are the stone/wood people that inhabit Great Forest to the north). They live in the 'normal' world, what D&D would call the Prime Material Plane. You were sent to the ifrit lands (south of Forest) to look for ways to fight the Dark.
Mephits are vermin-like planar beings that easily shift between planes (whereas most creatures require a stable portal). These magma mephits live on Igniscoeli, the plane of fire (which is also Volcano's home plane and the afterlife for ifrits (which is where you are currently)

I can't thank you enough for your patience here and I am truly sorry for my long hiatus. I think I"m back now in a reliable sense. I have a lot to read through to get fully caught up but I have skimmed the last couple pages and made a post in gameplay.
Context: a phoenix is a mythical servant (perhaps even demigod, depending on who you read) of Volcano. This is the first phoenix seen in over 1000 years. Sequoya had probably heard rumors of such an event happening in Hearth (the capital of the ifrits), but perhaps wasn't sure whether to lend credence to such whisperings.
I'm greatly enjoying the RP, and I hope all of you are too! Normally I nudge things along in a given scene after a few days, but you are still getting to know one another, so I'm happy to let it roll.
At the latest, I'll shoot for updating the scene say Monday evening.
Sorry to hijack Ibinu, I just wanted to make Ibinu's actions a little more meaningful since this is all happening real time, and you took the time to be tactical. So you decided to flank with Inam instead of Kallik, but the rest of your round is still yours to do with as you see fit.
