Yep. She had said 'stealth is for b+$%+es' and I wanted to know why after all the cackling the unicorn horn got her. She said her skin glows and already had the wings so the bioluminescent bugacorn was born.

It's fun to hear about all of your DMing experiences, because this particular medium (at least for me) can feel isolated sometimes - I DM these two games, and that's it. As a stay at home dad (plus I teach on weekends) I simply have no time for anything else. When I visit a college friend who is married but no kids, I get to DM in person (same setting) like once every 6 months, and that's about the extent of it.
Maybe when the wee ones grow a bit beyond 6 and 4, there will be more time...

Kallik Sisa |

I understand and am always happy to babble about gaming. When I first moved in with my brother and his kids gaming stopped for a while and one of my players is adopting and that threw a wrench in things. Young kids make gaming difficult and I love the PbP for making things easier.

Inam Smithrock |

I am one that likely goes a bit overboard... Hush Ibinu. I didnt ask.;-)
I have 3 regular groups F2F, one of them is a podcast game. I also help organize a local Con every year. Took years for me to finally give tabletop RPGs a try, but when I did...well...
My work schedule lead me to the boards as it got to where I didnt have time to game F2F much. Now I need the escape from reality to stay sane sometimes.
Perhaps the kiddos will like the game and join you? My 2 kiddos tried it and it's not their cup of tea.

Kallik Sisa |

I am waiting for my nieces to get a little older but the older one, age 7, is already kinda interested. The other one is 2 so bright colors and music are all she cares about.
And the escapism is important. I had been roleplaying with a friend for like a decade and a half. Cause pretend worlds, epic battles, and political intregue is fun but I was in my mid 20's before I kinda pushed my way into a friends table. I wanted to spend time with her. And I realized I loved RPG's thing is maybe three years previous to that she had tried to run a game for me and her brother and it felt weird...

High Servant of Volcano |

Now that we are more or less agreed to do normal posting again, here's what I'm thinking -
1) Finish any evening conversation, especially "what are we doing next?"
2) I will give results about white obsidian if you give the order for Culkin to start
3) Ibinu is planning on passing judgement on the rogue alchemists tomorrow morning.
4) After all that, I would probably fast forward 4 weeks so that research and forging are done.
Reasonable? Anything I missed?

High Servant of Volcano |

And to start the week off right - you are all Level 8!
You have made some powerful moves in the world in the last three months. It's interesting - with the way your characters are shaping up, rather than just killing monsters you are also doing great things for your patrons in order to get more powerful.

Assuming anyone wants to hear me ramble about my game since I was asked to..
I started them off at the docks and we spend about three or four hours going over what they would do in the six weeks they were on the boat. The cleric spent a lot of time pranking the blacksmith, cause he is the blacksmith a bully. The barbarian and the small kid she adopted harassed the captain of the ship to the point that if one of them tries to ask him anything, or even speak to him, he just says no. They got to know a few other NPCs including the one that is going to be traveling with them. An elf from the Mordant Spire.
They were woken up early and told there was an issue. Land was in sight but there was no sign of life in the area. To which the NPCs had a spyglass but the barbarian pulled out a periscope... The player had miss read it thinking it was a cheaper spyglass. It was quickly decided that she had been swindled. And the player just went with it. I had set up a tense scene and the whole group and the NPCs just couldn't stop laughing at her, which she took in stride. Even when the captain gave her the spyglass and kept his hand on it to guide her. And met her glare with with a smile.
Anything beyond this point is spoilers for some of the Adventure Path and I should be able to avoid some spoilers. Let me know if you don't care about those.
But in the small row boat, which had all the PCs and the bear companion, and the NPC elf guy opted to swim instead of making the bear do it. Cause he is a nice guy. And he paid for it. The monsters got the higher initative and then got a crit on him. And I rolled a 2 2 1 + 3 which left the poor elf at 2 HP. I mean I could have killed him but the dice decided to spare him. The group opted to keep rowing so there was some musical chairs.
The bear killed one cause bears are awesome at first level. The released phantom killed another and has not been identified, cause it was under the very murky water. The elf got on the boat and then with a really good roll was stabbed in the throat and was downed. But there is a cleric so he is not dead. The last monster fled.
There was some more stuff but I do not know if you want the adventure path spoilers.

Inam Smithrock |

Been a busy few days. Should get a post up this evening but gotta run into work to solve an issue first

I am taking the setting and some of the plot stuff to make my life a little easier but I am condensing it down, adding my own stuff, and then going into straight up homebrew mid way thru. Mostly to give myself time to build a whole continent and the various planes for hopping into later.
I prefer homebrewed worlds because when you build it you simply know it better along with all the easily found lore online that the players can stumble upon by accident.
So they have thus far explored part of the empty colony. And deduced that something happened. None of the the colonists are there and do not seem to have been there in a while.
The blacksmiths shop/home was abandoned, in that their tools are still there, and some strange monkey goblin critters had taken up residence. The spiritualist asked the fighting to stop in Infernal and learned there was a shared language. They asked about the colonists and all the critter could say was 'they gone.' They asked about other creatures here and were told of 'the grey'. tall smooth skin, big hands. They are guessing it is a group of chokers or a grey render. It is a group of chokers. After the line of questions the player that had caught it let the creature go. No clue if that will backfire.
No one looted initially but the Oracle found a +1 buckler but says she is gonna give it back later. And the barbarian took masterwork machete's.
This was something I added because the version of goblin they speak would be different 10,000 years can make a bit difference. Also because I am feeling out an Infernal option for how the game could go. A surprising amount of important devils came from Azlant.
They moved on to what was the church. And barely moved inside of it. Though the cleric they learned there is a necrotic aura under a covered alter and that the statue of Talmandor, who is the celestial patron of Andoran, has some kind of magic to it. And there is something similar behind the alter and the necrotic aura. The the spiritualist used some spell about psychic resonance. No clue how the spells works but I kinda winged it. And he saw a vision of the frame of the building go up. He say the Talmandor statue being put up and then a stag head being put of for Erastil. Then he hear a door that wasn't there slam open and a bleeding man stagger in, run though the group, and hide behind the alter. That was all he got.
So they are assuming the necrotic aura is a ghost or something. But we stopped playing then.
For the AP they built a colony with the first shipment of settlers and they are gone. The players have to rebuild while dealing with the dangers of the islands and the worry over what happened to the first group. I really like it and the players apparently really like the beginning of the first act.

Woot level 8! (forgot to respond)
I remember some fun homebrews. Sorta had a bad experience with a group when I ran the last one though so I haven't sunk that kinda time into one again. I'll do it again someday, but for now I'm sticking to playing them and just GM'ing pre-built scenarios.

Inam Smithrock |

Yes...level 8... I'll try to get alias updated asap.
I do become immune to charms and grant +4 bonus to allies in 10ft of me vs them.

I have my gut response ready for this duel challenge, but I've found I need to think things through a bit sometimes. This is one of those times I'd like to give it some time. I should be able to post, at latest, in the morning after thinking it over.

Kallik Sisa |

[chanting]Fight! Fight! Fight![/chanting]
... I had to say it..
Also Ibinu you are precious! My two precious sylph's are out there bucking tradition and fighting the good fight. I freaking love it!

Etrah |

Etrah updated as well. Int, HP, Saves, all went up.
Coincidentally, his K Religion roll up there would have been 3 higher if I'd updated him first. He's up to +10 on the religion now.

High Servant of Volcano |

As I wrote in gameplay, both the projects succeeded, and they were finished a little early.
I saw everyone posted recently, so hopefully that means you are available. Quick questions:
--Inam, do you want to describe the finished armor or shall I?
--Kallik and Ibinu - here is the list of ingredients for the key. Do you want to RP it? If not, I figure we can just fast forward to discussing how to find the final ingredient.
1) blessed by Archpriest (costs 1000 gp for incenses and unguents)
2) dipped in true lava (the Counter will ask for 1000 gp to access this)
3) a pint of dragon's blood in the flux

Ibinu Kemish |

Since it is a simple pay and get, no need to RP. Dragon’s blood does not seem like an easy thing to access, let’s get going on that.

I'm not an artist, but (link) here's what I came up with for the Obsidian Full Plate...
Please let me know what you think.
Quite subtle, dont ya think? :-P
Mechanically speaking will the armor function as straight mundane Full Plate or something else?
Just wanting to confirm before I update my profile with the armor

Ibinu Kemish |

Oh yah, subtle like a bomb to the face, lol.
Finally got my profile/header updated.

High Servant of Volcano |

I did the high-end summary a few weeks ago, but I still want to keep the habit of updating the loose ends every 6 months, so here we are!
State of the Game, March 2019
OLD LOOSE ENDS
--How bad is the infector problem?
--How bad is the magical damage that was done to the Temple? Will this affect the war?
--Who or what exactly is Krz? Why was he sent back with Kallik? Is he connected with the Fey?
--What are the intentions of the Young Elder and its followers? Will they attack the Temple?
--Where are the High Inquisitors now? Were they all Smilers?
--What will be the Smilers' next move?
--How are the Watches (arguably the second most powerful force in Hearth, next to the Temple) reacting to the Blessed and their de facto rule of the Temple?
--Did So Khong survive whatever punishment the Lords of Incus may have exacted upon him?
--What happened to the dragon Ssarkofaugos after he flew off? What about Ibinu's scars?
NEW LOOSE ENDS
--Why are dragons so important to the Cauldron Lady?
--Why was the Hall of Oracles such an awful place? What will happen now that it is gone?
--What will happen to Ibinu, now that he is Champion of the Lady?
--Who is Thuat Lao really? Why did he target the Medium?
--How will you test your white obsidian?
--How will Ibinu’s rite of sacrifice affect the city? Tuono, the alchemists, and Entoro?

Ibinu Kemish |

I’m good. Inam seems to be having “lack of free time” issues based on their other games.

Inam Smithrock |

Free time has been a bit of a struggle for me. Teenager is about to try and get her driver's license so I've been letting her drive me around after school. Work is...well I think that's not going to change anytime soon. If anything, it'll continue to get busier for me. I just need to get into a routine for it....if they do what it seems like they are going to, I should be able to get a routine going in a couple months.
Add to that, been fighting a bug last week it seems. I truly hope I'm in the upswing now. Today I was off work and instead of being productive, I slept 22hrs straight...
I'm still here though! I hope I'm not dragging you all down too much.

High Servant of Volcano |

Same here. Might have been an issue way back when at the beginning of the game, but we've made it through enough minor hiatuses that it is truly no big deal. If it gets really bad, just let me know if you need botting for a little bit.
Good luck with the teenage driver! I still have like 10 years until I have to worry about that...

High Servant of Volcano |

Just another quick check in - Kallik and Inam, let me know if you would prefer to be botted for a few days. No pressure to post, but I also don't want to have the narrative run away with most of our party missing.
Real life comes first as always - the intended tone here is "what can I do to help" (I'm worried about coming off as nagging or irritated, since text is difficult to parse for emotion)

Inam Smithrock |

I'm still here. I promise. :-)
I should get a post up today in gameplay. If needed, don't hesitate to bot me. Hard to get into a work groove when they keep adding more duties.
I have decided I'm running away for a few days at the end of the month. It's the wife's idea, but she's calling it a "mental health break". Going to be leaving the state on April 22nd and will be back April 26th. The weekend of the 26th is a local con that I help organize and run so I'll likely be spotty posting at best the 23rd through the 27th.

High Servant of Volcano |

Hey Inam - I bet things are still super busy with you, and I get it - life, kids, etc, is crazy stuff. Don't sweat it - RL life first, as always. If I don't hear back over the next few days, I'll be going into full botting mod with Inam, just so I don't keep waiting on a response (like the current scene could be great for an Inam speech, but I'm not going to pressure you into writing one if you are super busy)
I hope it goes without saying that as soon as you feel ready/willing to come back Inam is of course yours.
Actually, I guess now is as good a time as any - can I get confirmation from Ibinu and Kallik that you are both ok to post regularly more or less? If I have two missing players I'd rather just call hiatus for a bit (especially with Inam's extended mental health vacation on the horizon)

Kallik Sisa |

Sorry it has been a really rough weekend. My house was broken into, luckily nothing was stolen as they panicked, dropped things, and ran when my brothers girlfriend can down the hall. And sleep has been really difficult. Plus some serious infighting in my house. I should be able to get a post in after I hopefully get some sleep.
But I would like to share some images I found in my not sleeping state.
Armored dresses have existed and they are weird
This is insane and just weird so I share it.
