Ilya doesn't see the automaton's next attack coming and the construct's guisarme cuts into one of the veins in her throat. The monk's hands reach for the bleeding wound, grasping her throat as her face turns pale. She then falls over, unconscious and bleeding.

The bleeding then abruptly stops as Ilya stabilizes.

Heehee. We went into this encounter all wrong... we should have smashed the coffins at the start and I should have helped the steward disable the altar immediately. I kinda wish more encounters were like this. Hopefully I don't have to pay for ANOTHER rescue + resurrection.

Ilvan tries to smash the automaton, but doesn't get past its armor. Ketill shoots an arrow that is more succesful, but it still ricochets off the construct's armor - the most powerful one the adventurers have seen so far. Kellan finally manages to get past it, and punches some holes with her rapier.

Vayu's shots are loud more than anything else, though he does manage two decent hits on target. Zen'yr manages to hide Swayaah from view, while Ilya lies still on the floor.

Almost there the steward says, I could still use some help!

The automatons advance on Kellan. The tiefling tries to block the first attack, but the sheer force of the assault knocks her blade away, opening her flank to two brutal attacks by the machines.

In her fatigued state, Swayaah can't do much to aid the steward. Fortunately, Zen'yr manages to stop the bleeding on Ilvan, who looks almost unrecognisable in his current, quiet state.

Vayu blasts at yellow, and when the automaton falls, he manages a shot at the automaton behind, before his gun returns to uselessness. Ketill's flaming arrow adds some damage to that.

Kellan goes all-out on the construct, while Vayu shouts something into the loud succession of banging and clanging. Soon, it becomes apparent what Vayu wanted to say: as soon as the automaton drops, a new one takes its place.

The last automaton, smoking and sparking, steps in towards Kellan, lifts his Guisarme for the killing blow, when suddenly the power goes out in the room.

That's not it the steward shouts, hold on...

Some moments pass in the dark, but fortunately the automatons in the room remain motionless.

Alright, this should do it, the steward speaks from the darkness.

With a flash, light returns to the room. I now have complete control over the forge. It will take some time to repair the damage, but I should be able to reconstruct a working body with the spare metal you... eh... created.

You probably want to return to your sanctuary deeper underground. Behind that door you will find the passage. Thank you very much for your service, patrons.

Whew, glad we made it. The toughest battles are the ones where it takes the longest amount of time to figure out. By the time we started smashing the coffins and I began assisting we were already pretty worn down.

Swayaah almost drops the steward before placing him gently on the console. She runs up to Ilya and applies her wand of cure light wounds. "C'mon, c'mon!"

Watching her wake up, Swayaah breathes a sigh of relief- before clutching her side in pain. She takes a knee. "So you took control? Good, good. I hope you don't mind if we rest here for a bit before heading back."

"Everyone else doing alright? I haven't felt this bad since that plant thing dissected me a year ago. Happy I won't hear a lecture from mom."

She pets Ilvan. "Yeah boy, you did good."

Ilya blinks as she regains consciousness. Carefully, she sits up. "That was... different."

She gets back to her feet, still a bit wobbly. "Thanks, Swayaah."

"We'd very much like to return to our sanctuary deep underground, but there's something we have to do above ground first," Ilya tells the steward. "We will return and descend to our sanctuary when we're back."

Once back on the surface Ilya takes her time to recover, and heads over to the estate she purchased. There Ilya spends time in her own dojo, teaching locals who are interested in learning the dragon style what it's all about.

Back in town, Swayaah's time around automations has dulled her instincts. She's glad to be back in town where she can read emotions easily, even if the humans still smell weird.

She takes her time training Ilvan. She feels like he's been neglected. "I gotta help you fight a little harder."
