I wanted to let you guys know I am going on vacations from next Sunday onward, for about two weeks.
I'm travelling with the family tomorrow, before the vacations start proper, so I should be able to keep up the posting until Sunday, but after that I cannot guarantee it since I will probably be immersed in tepid sea or pool water, hopefully with some sort of alcoholic beverage closeby :D

I just thought I should mention: I've never had a close family member die. I honestly have no idea how people handle grief on that scale, and I'm sure it will/has shown in my end of the story. I've lived a very privileged, fortunate, short, and sheltered life, so this is completely out of my experience. I'm sorry if this has brought memories back to you, and have offended anyone due to my lack of experience, tact, or storytelling.
Trust me, I understand. And I hope you don't have to know any of these for a long time yet. It's, crushing, and unbelievable at first, that you're not going to talk to them again, my niece thought grandma was going to get up at the wake and talk to everybody. It's s$$*ty and I hope nobody here has experienced it yet.
No worries treasure, this is not reality, just a really good story. Meaning you are doing good especially considering your own fortunate lack of experience with a close passing. Readers bring their own experiences with them.

Personally I think you did it well Fox. There is no one true "This is how people deal with death" sort of thing. I've lost grandparents, aunties, uncles and a friend and each and every experience is different. You did well and shouldn't doubt yourself.

In case anybody forgot and is curious Maria was a member of a gang in Absalom and was in charge of scaring protection targets with horrific threats. She caught the gang setting a store on fire with the family inside, a threat she made. Blaming herself she snuck into a trade caravan and eventually got to sandpoint.
But our characters don't know it right? I remember Cleo and Maria talking about family and I think the gang in the church, but not specifics, but I am old so memory fades pretty easy.
