Corrected Round 5 The fighting continues inside the grove, the would be heroes hoping to hold their own and keep the beast at bay from the village proper. Angel fiercely holds the Creature rooted to place, as the others ring around forming a solid perimeter.
Carlson - 160'
Conner - 30' Fires the shot he recorded earlier, missing the Creature.
Creature - Roars in anger at Angel, striking at her with root and maw, others with just it's roots.
D'witt - 30' Action Shoots the Creature once again.
Rutcher - 30' Bow in hand
Sir Gareth - 80'
Xavorin - 30' Action Burns away a bundle of roots
Troopers Cootz, Deel, Evans, Myers - 30' Bows in hand
Angel - Action Lays on Hands and attacks the Creature

Round 6 The fighting grows more serious inside the grove, as the would be heroes begin their counter offensive. I will keep track of actions here, please feel free to post in the Gameplay thread in character. Please correct any action I have listed for the round you feel are incorrect or wish changed.
Carlson - 35' Prepares to fire arrows next round, realizing he alone anchors the Eastern Flank.
Conner - 25' Fires twin arrows at the Creature. Both strike smaller branches for no apparent effect.
Creature - Roars in anger again, striking at Angel with root and maw, others with just it's roots. The trunk seems to split in twain, forming legs that seem to lurch the Creature up from the ground, as though it had been buried to the knees.
D'witt - 25' Action ???
Rutcher - 15' Fires arrow
Sir Gareth - 25' Action Arrives at the Grove, bow in hand
Xavorin - 25' Action ???

Well, hopefully between getting some good rolls on my part and sir Gareth's epic charge we can rack up some pain on this abomination. Though I think the paladin is definitely kicking the most butt.
Angel Dawnstar
Dm can you possibly post the monster attacks in the game thread.. I think it would help everyone keep pace better to where we're at.. Did my round 6 attack hit? And the extra +6 to loh comes from her feat Fey Foundling, which provides +2 heal per hit dice to any healing done to her..
DM Kalizar
Sorry, the Creature has a reach of 15', charging through it's threatened area garnered it an attack of opportunity, which missed. I typed AoE instead of AoO by mistake, it was late after hitting several Fireworks Displays and other party obligations yesterday. More family obligations today so operating on less than 4 hours sleep.
The Trooper did not pick up the bow, as they were firing together in volleys directed by Rutcher, and did not wish to break stride. Plus, if I had randomly determined that trooper had been one that was swallowed, it would have been lost.

Not familiar with Ultimate Campaign but I've heard good things about it from people. Mythic playtest is cool for some stuff and can give an epic feel, but at least the early versions of the playtest didn't really capture it crunch wise. I don't know about the final product.
Conner Hawthorne
Mythic playtest does not interest me - too Gestalt-like. I am highly interested in the Ultimate Campaign, but I do not yet have enough knowledge. I plan to pick it up shortly though...maybe even today.
Sir Gareth d’Orionus
Had to edit my round 8 post, because I didn't notice that a trooper was swallowed in Kalizar's post!
Kalizar, besides the fire immunity, which I'm uncertain if it only applies to the truck or the roots, would you please describe to us if our attacks do less damage than we would expect, ie. damage reduction?
Also with BBEG, would you please provide flavor description of how damaged they are? So it doesn't look like the last arrow finally found their off switch.
cheers

Quick question, any of you guys familiar with the content in the Ultimate Campaign or the Mythic Playtest? Thoughts on it's usefulness or affects on games?
Not actually familiar with either of those. I'll have to look them up.
DM Kalizar
I was asking because I recently picked up the Ultimate Campaign book, and like a few of the ideas presented. I wanted to get some feedback on a few topics, as the campaign moves forward. Mythic comes out later this summer, so it intrigued me because the campaign involves finding and destroying artifacts associated with freeing a banished god, mythic quest in it's own right.

Regardless of being sickened Angel will attempt to save one of the troopers before taking the rest and healing herself.. She would burn a charge off the wand to auto save em..
DM Kalizar
I assume Angel moved to save Cootz, Xavorin goes for Myers. Heal check for Myers 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18.
Angel's magic saves Cootz, while Myers is stabilized by Xavorin. Carlson shakes his head, unable to save Trooper Deel.
The dead in this horrible attack, Priestess Rhengold, Druid Yundi, Troopers Evans and Deel. Only Deel's body is recoverable.
Sir Gareth d’Orionus
I did not heal Gareth. I was letting his judgment fast healing 2 go for as long as we were in rounds. I counted 3 rounds and will take as many as you want to give him to completely heal the 16 points of nonlethal.
If the fast healing did not heal him fully, he would appreciate a healing charge from Angel but would not ask for it.
Current HP are tracked on his avatar stats spoiler.
cheers

I'm going to assume that Carlson was given back his gear by the group. If not it's no big deal, only a point on AC or so. He is down 6 arrows and has 16 nonlethal damage currently, but other than that has suffered no ill effects.

The journey to the mill would have been enough time for the fast healing to bring Sir Gareth back to full health.
Sir Gareth d’Orionus
Xavorin stands back at the roadway, sensing once more that Sir Gareth does not want him around.
I don't understand this. Xavorin would be the only one that d'Orionus would move toward, because he's trying to "push" the trooper (who presumably is moving away from d'Orionus) toward anyone but Xavorin.
That seemed clear in my head. I don't know how it was interpreted.
cheers

DM Cleanup rolls for the surprise round

Casting Male Voice Rider Control Check 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Casting Jaroo Rider Control Check 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

Sorry, had to get a few images to complete the set for the map.
The mill wall is the left hand edge of the map, the brown is the road, the green the hedgerow, the blue the river. The boy over the doors is 15' up in the air, in the upper doorway. The large human has 10' reach. Joman Dart collapsed to his knees from the burst damage and the ground quake, so is on his side.
DM Kalizar
The group was expecting the village elite to be assaulting them, if anyone would, and so may be geared towards a little overkill. They hired help to see them off, and do not intend to stand and fight, being more in a mind to escape the area, now that they are exposed. If the party had waited a few minutes longer, they would have been gone. Shock and awe, breach and breakout was more the plan.
Don't forget those hero points folks, they can make the difference, and are great for convincing the locals you are there to help.
Conner Hawthorne
My PC would certainly not advocate this, but we could call a retreat? Or perhaps we could burn down the Mill before many more get out? I imagine that it ought to torch quite nicely, being a mill, and all.

That is an option, should you have a budding fire-starter handy, with a surprise round action. Can't say what the effect would be, but, there you have it.
Conner Hawthorne
Ok, I thought as much, I will include the bonuses, and you can retract them behind the screen in the event of a doppleganger. Thanks
Does anyone have the ability to blow this place up? I have no flaming arrows or alchemist's fire.
DM Kalizar
D'witt and Xavorin both have flammable attacks (bombs or scorching rays), vision to see targets in the mill, and neither has acted in the surprise round, yet.
If they have not responded by this evening, I will act for them, but it would need to be a party decision before I have them fire for effect into the mill, come what may. You four can vote, and I will act accordingly.
edit: If they do attempt to ignite the mill, they would need to roll their damage, any die 1 or 6 will spark the reaction. The resulting explosion would be d100 dust particles plus d100 air mass plus d100 fuel consumption, squared, for a fireball reaction of 2d6 up to 17d6, with a 12d6 estimated average. Not very scientific, crude even, but there it is.
