Lol...I was just wondering where I ought to go. It really makes no difference, but I have been pretty much sticking with Sir Gareth unless circumstances dictate otherwise.

I'm fine with the invisibility rulings, they sound good to me.
And I really hadn't thought about the detect spells since I don't have them.

I'm not usually a fan of party splitting in dungeons either. :P But it seems more natural in town for people to wandered off and back, alone or accompanied.

Sir Gareth, I think the chest you're think of was mentioned in the description of the girl's room, not the witch's shack.

Splitting the party into 4 parts? What could possibly go wrong!

No worries...Sir Gareth will arrive shortly for ya, and we can all rendezvous together back at the Tower.

Ah, something I didn't notice. :p

I try not to read too much of what D'witt isn't there for. Less likely to accidentally abuse player knowledge.

Actually, the glint of "gold and rich wood" might have been Jaroo's staff, which D'witt had seen in the corner by the witch, before the collapse.

Yes

Unless of course there is a penalty for failure, like breaking a vial in shifting through the debris, causing a gold ring to fall between cracked floorboards, etc. None of which happened in this case.

The rich wood and glint of gold is gone, most likely stolen by a looter or villager scavenging parts for their own abode. The guardsmen arrived after your group did, and were only watching over the rubble, they did not try overly much to impede the normal operation of the camp, just stop the gross abuses.

I thought about naming the Andoran currency, to give it more of a cultural feel. What do you think?

Platinum Eagles, Gold Talons, Silver Blades, and Copper Leaves.

Represents the crest of Andoran, and something of it's heritage.

I have to say this because I am involved in many PbPs. This one is simply outstanding, thus far. I know that we are only in the infancy of the story, but I applaud the efforts of DM Kalizar, as well as all of my fellow players. This has a real flow and substance. Thanks all!

I had so much fun with the original Village of Hommlet back in 1980, I think. I wanted to recreate some of that again.

My brother and his friend decided to break into the tower to steal Burne's spellbook. They alerted the guards and climbed to the top to escape. My bro the rogue climbed down the side, his friend the magic user ripped the fly spell out of the book as the guards broke through the doors. He jumped, thinking he could cast on the fall down. I made him roll to hold on to the page while casting, a 1 on d20 later, he landed heavily at the base of the tower. My brother fell to the ballista running across the open field towards the treeline. Level 1 was brutal for 1st addition. Good times.

I'm glad you are enjoying this, I hope as much, as I am.

I ran it too for a small group playing multiple players in the 80's. Elmo ended up going along as an NPC. When they were successful at completing the whole story, they had enough gold to build their own Keep, and many other adventures flowed from that establishment. Great Stuff!

Close. 'The Wall' was the album.

The song was titled 'Comfortably Numb'.
Although there was also a song titled 'Is There Anybody Out There'.

Still, a gold talon for your guess.
And one for Angel too.

That's alright, we will only be a few minutes, unless we are successful. Then the other trail will not matter.

As they make their way up to the Temple, Sir Gareth and D'witt stop, looking to each other. Faintly, on the breeze, they hear a soft chant, one of us, one of us, one of us, but just as quickly, it is gone. Nah, they think and go on their way, not knowing that their comrades were overtaken and converted by the shapeshifting fiendish enclave of doppelgangers that were operating out of the old mill. At least not knowing until...

Just kidding. Wanted to throw something out there for Carlson, to know he's not forgotten and help is on the way.

If there's any consolation, I have a PbP game where my character wasn't introduced for weeks. I had a vacation scheduled during the first week the game began. The GM made up this great way to introduce my character but forecasted that players would get there in a week instead of a month!

Although in jail, at least you get to post and interact a little.

Cheers

Ahead Angel senses a strong aura of evil, possibly more faint auras as well, but the stonework and distance make determination difficult.

At least you know that you're heading for a fight. Good luck. May the dice rolls be with you.

BTW, you're technically breaking and entering for those law-abiding folks...

But since your evil radar pinged slaughter at will, right?

Imo Paladin's follow the laws of local governments, until those laws deter them from their deities laws.. So yes, in search of an evil being.. An evil ping inside a hidden passage gives her the green light..

Well, she is armed, not armored, and heading straight into multiple auras of evil, faint and stronger, detected through several feet of stone and water, more than 15' away. Slaughter sounds about right.

Hey now! Where's the evil, cackling laughter?

BTW air bubble creates a bubble of air around your head, allowing you to speak freely, but that sound must pass through the water between you and the others, and so is still distorted and muffled. Hand gestures would be helpful in conveying your intentions.

Hmm. Your avatar is a good start.

Yes, but a truly evil DM would want a TPK, would he not? Piecemeal, and Sir Gareth recruits others from the next caravan to enter Hommlet, and we start all over again. Plus you would have the metagame knowledge of what foes ate Angel and her appetizing companions.

Pretty bad if you get tpked before you make it into the dungeon..

I would never be so cruel, evil icon not withstanding. Better to TPK facing Giant Frogs on the dungeon's doorstep than the party not even making it out of town. Always let the baby see the candy before you snatch it away. Evil Basics 101.

There is barely over an hour of daylight, followed by an hour of dusk conditions remaining before the sun sets low enough to cast Hommlet into the darkness of night.
