Father Storm joined us on April 1rst..... so we have a cleric. Hejust hasn't been incorporated into gameplay yet
Father Stom |
I should have trained a crafting feat and then have a rule that for every physical day in the real world we aren't doing anything, I can get a full 8 hour crafting day in. I could make some sweet stuff in all this wasted time.
Father Stom |
If we're going up against a caster that can cast level 9 spells, then we're the undead, we just don't know it yet.
Seriously though, it would be interesting to have a method to post each day the amount of work completed as long as nothing else was being posted and we could take advantage of all of the down time. I would have dumped a bunch of points in crafting and spellcraft to make some really nice trinkets, armor, and weapons.

I'm out of town on vacation for the next 2 weeks... my posting ability may be impacted...please bot me if necessary

Moving this to discussion to avoid clogging up gameplay
two masterwork steel shields (one heavy and one light), a masterwork heavy mace, a masterwork short sword, a masterwork morningstar, a silver dagger, a composite short bow (+1 Str).
Magic items up for grabs:
18 +1 arrows, a +1 keen dagger, a +1 keen throwing axe and a +2 warhammer and three potions: 2 potions of cure light wounds and a potion of remove disease.
Sorek isn't interested in the weapons and he has 2 CLW potions in his bag
Does everyone have CLW potions? If not please claim them.
And maybe split up the arrows between Myrick, Lars and Lom, the bow guys?
Does everyone have a magic melee weapon?
Myrick of Muir |
Yeah take it! Maybe also take the throwing axe? To have a second weapon.
I will take 9 +1 arrows. And the dagger is nobody wants, needs it. And one CLW

In the morning after an uneventful night, with the group fully healed and spells recovered, Sorek leads them north
perception for first door we come across: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24
perception for first door we come across: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28
Detect for Magic and Evil, TRAPSPOTTING
after examining the door, Sorek will notify the group if any strong Evil or Magic is detected so we can properly prepare, Otherwise he will open the door and proceed down the hallway/cavern/etc til the next door/obstacle/creature is encountered
and if traps/locks detected (for multiple attempts if necessary)
disable device: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (4) + 18 = 22
disable device: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (1) + 18 = 19
disable device: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (15) + 18 = 33
disable device: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (14) + 18 = 32
disable device: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (5) + 18 = 23

After taking some time to consider the killing of the barbarian, I think the appropriate punishment Muir would hand down is that Sorek would no longer be able to do holy damage until he does something go atone for his action and receives the spell.
Sorek |
Woah! So killing an evil barbarian in an evil temple complex who almost killed him with 2 swings is an evil act.
By that logic a dog owner who has his rabid dog put down should be charged with animal cruelty.
If this is the morality view this campaigns has.... Then Sorek would know and understand that. As a player I did not! ... If I did I would simply let the barbarian regain consciousness, let him attack us and then defend ourselves.
So in a fairness if that type of code is going to be enforced on our characters.... Please allow a retcon
And we'll have to consider it fair warning for future actions.
Sorek |
IMHO the immoral act would be to allow this murderous barbarian to roam free allowing him to kill an untold number of victims.
Don't be persuaded by Myrick.... He doesn't take his Oath of Vengeance very seriously lol
He may need to retrain to something more touchy feely like the hospitaler archetype
brvheart |
It is not a lawful good act and you have a paladin in the group
Mercy: You believe all beings should be treated with compassion, even if they are transgressors. For instance, you would rather imprison a murderer than kill him outright for his crimes. Also, you do not believe in exterminating the offspring of wicked creatures when they are encountered, as you believe the innocent young should not be punished for the crimes of their elders. Instead, you might seek to find a place for them to be taken in.
Would you rather I make him face atonement for allowing it? Not everything in RA is evil. Just most things. And the barbarian is inherently NOT evil, he is cursed. He is NG.

We lack access to easy transportation like teleport.
Are you saying that whenever we encounter humanoid enemies we must subdue them, shackle them up and March them back to the ferry for trial imprisonment/rehabilitation therapy or risk having an alignment shift from good to neutral/evil?
It's going to be VERY difficult to imprison all the murderers we encounter here in this remote location...... So either we go back to the ferry with prisoners after every humaniod encounter or we eliminate the threat and risk an alignment shift...
In character Sorek had no knowledge of a curse... He was attacked by an evil barbarian in an evil temple and had the choice of leaving him free to attack the party at a later time or worse free to attack those less able to defend themselves which I would view to be an EVIL act.
I do not see this as violating his moral code!
If you are going to be this strict in enforcement of this version of morality I encourage you to let this be retconned
Please give a mulligan here.
After this all further actions will be taken with the knowledge that this campaign will be very particular with these situations
I am NOT trying to be difficult here... Just seeking fairness.
A mulligan retconn would be a great solution to this misunderstanding
Sorek |
The easiest way to retcon this would be to allow Myrick to object as Sorek mercifully chokes out the evil barbarian.... He would have time to object as choking out the barbarian would not be instantaneous
brvheart |
Like having Myrick actually detecting evil? You want to go back and do that?
Sorek |
Where are we with the retcon?
Are we back in time with Sorek slowly choking out the barbarian to give Myrick a chance to intervene paladin style with a detect evil?
Would like to get this moving again. We have a fairly reliable group of posters here.
brvheart |
I thought we presumed you let the barbarian live? I agree, let's get this moving.

Sorry all, I hurt my back and have been unable to post for awhile. Be back soon.
Father Stom |
If only real life were as easy as the game, a quick Heal or Restoration spell and you're all good.
Take care of yourself and I hope you feel better soon.

Good to hear. Happy belated new year everyone

By the way I'm at a conference through the end of the week. RootsTech in Salt Lake City, Utah if anyone was interested. I'm still checking in on the game but limited posted during the daytime conference hours. Then driving all day in the snow on Sunday.
Father Stom |
I am driving for the next two days heading to AdeptiCon. I'll be at the Con in classes painting minis all day for five days, then another two days of driving back. Just so you know, my postings will be a little interrupted but I will try to catch up at least once a day (probably at night).
