Cyrus:

As you finish reading the inscription, a cloying, amber-green mist coagulates around you and melds with your flesh: leaved you paralyzed. The last thing your brain registers is a shrieking alarm pouring out of the chest.

Sisters:

Erianna hears a piercing alarm faightly on the wind. It's coming from the direction of the farmhouse, and there is no response from Cyrus...

Mortimer:

Go ahead and keep following your plan. Just spoiler it, and I'll respond where appropriate.

Super Duo of Sisterhood:
as soon as erianna mentions this Ether will nod to her and rush toward the farmhouse

Male Elf Wizard 20

GM:

Mortimer wakes, achy and sour from sleeping in a tree. He spends some time to memorize his spells and wind up Biel, then continues down the road.

It was nice knowing you guys. Cya in the next life.

The Duo:

"Something is wrong" - Erianna suddenly stands up - "It sounds like an alarm, and Cyrus has fallen silent" - she adds, then dashing alongside her sister towards the farmhouse.

Have some faith - Sisters to the rescue! ;)

Mortimer:

How cautious are you being? Trying to stay unseen? Defensive spells active? etc. What is your MO during travel and rest times?

Cyrus:

Cold water hits you square in the face and runs up into your hair. It is then you realize that you are upside-down. And Restrained. And Naked.

Presently, the big man's face lowers into view. His breath smells of pickled fish and rye bread and sour ale. "Right, so I'm betting you know what happens now. I'll ask questions. You'll answer. We'll hurt you. We'll ask more questions. You'll answer. Et cetera. Is there anything you'd like to say before we start?"

[spoiler=Sisters]
You sprint for the house and burst into the glade some 40 feet from the house. The porch is empty. The tree line is empty. Smoke curls up from the chimney.

Gameplan? Stealthy? Not stealthy? Hostile? Trying to talk through whatever is going on? Let me know :)

Sisters, your spoiler is buried with mine.

Male Elf Wizard 20

DM:

Mortimer will travel on the main road, not hiding himself but not being overly conspicuous either. He will use his wand of mount so he can ride on horseback and if he sees anybody off in the distance he will try to cast mage armor before they approach.

Travel is just taking the main road through the forest. Resting he would probably be reading one of his books.

Cyrus Darkwater wrote:

Thanks Cyrus - I would still be waiting :D

I say gameplan is approaching with Stealth.

"We need to approach sister" - Erianna nods to Esther, then moves towards the house, hiding from view, and trying to reach a window.

Stealth: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (8) + 17 = 25

Hp 81/81 AC 24 (21) (+12 Perc; +4 Init; Fort +9, Ref +10, Will +7)

Round 1

Cast a Divine Favor and move Stealth: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (1) + 15 = 16

Shadow Lodge

No peeking:

1d20 + 9 - 5 ⇒ (3) + 9 - 5 = 7
1d20 + 9 - 5 ⇒ (18) + 9 - 5 = 22

The two sisters quietly pad toward the house, but Esther's foot accidently upsets a wood pile slightly.

Suddenly, from the house, "Oy! I think there's someone outside. Put him out and hide." A heavy thud sounds from inside then all is quiet.

Upon reaching the window, Esther and Erianna can see into the small farm house. They recognize the naked, upside down form lashed to a wooden frame as an unconsciouss Cyrus!

Hp 81/81 AC 24 (21) (+12 Perc; +4 Init; Fort +9, Ref +10, Will +7)

Esther will look for the two guys (at least) as she moves toward Cyrus (leaving Erianna hidden)

Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28

Erianna casts a spell on her sister, and follows suit.

Casting Heroism on Esther.

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15

Why the HECK didn't I buy a wand of Shield...?

Esther crashes through the door, followed directly by Erianna. Both spot the inert Cyrus straight away. Erianna's gaze sweeps the room idly, noticing nothing else, but Esther spots one of the youths crouched beside an armoire, daggers clutched in white-knuckled hands.

Surrender ! she simply says

Should the target fall she fires at next target, should there be no other target she sees she stops firing

Erianna waits until her sister fires her shots, then twirls to interpose between her and any assailants, scimitar at the ready, and uttering a few words to bolster their resolve.

"Foes in hiding account for deceitfulness and ill chosen paths - stand down and explain yourselves, or you will feel our blade and arrow"

Esther's arrows glance off the cabinet and walls scant inches from the crouching man's person. A shrill cry of terror escapes his throat, and, at that moment, the door behind slams shut where stands another youth bearing similar knives. From a recessed alcove, steps the big man with the axe with whom you spoke earlier, his axe swinging lazily at his hip.

Quick as thought, the axe is in his hand, dancing in deadly arcs. "You have one chance, surrender and you will not be harmed."

Erianna is undaunted by this show of prowess while Esther is somewhat shaken by it. Cyrus is blithely ignorant of the spectacle.

Who's turn is it to act?

I think it is us :D

Gonna use Crane Wing to designate the guy with the axe, getting +4 dodge bonus on AC against him. I am assuming we have no map as of yet.

Erianna stands defensively between the man with the axe and her sister - "Maybe you should be the one to surrender, and explain your actions here, and your lies. Do not try to assault us, and you will live" - she retorts, her scimitar held ahead defensively.

I'm gonna ready an action to attack the first guy that comes close.

Scimitar Attack in case it is needed: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30

All arrows are fired at the Axe Guy (should he fall she fires at an other target)

Shadow Lodge

The big man smiles at Erianna's words and is about to speak himself when Esther fires on him. The first arrow he snatches out of the air and tosses aside like much firewood. The second he dodges lazily, then opens his mouth to speak. The third arrow, he dashes aside with the flat of his axe, barely.

Hi smile gone now, he signals his men to attack and assumes a defensive posture: waving Erianna closer. "Come lass, let's see what you can do with that blade."

The two young men move in on Esther, knives flashing.

The man who was behind the cabinet slashes at Esther's hands, trying to disarm her. Disarm 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31

But Esther quickly adds her other hand to the bow, sliding away from the knives. Blast your two handed weapon :)

The second man jukes left...Feint 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14...but Esther recognizes the feint and does not react.

Wow, that should have been scarier than it was :( You guys are up.

GM DSP, Erianna had readied an attack against the first guy coming closer, so it should have went off against one of those moving closer, correct?

Round 3

Whirling around, the woman slides across, and then upwards against the assailant closer to her sister. (assuming this was the one I hit before - H:7)

Scimitar Attack: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (17) + 16 = 33

Attack on Esther 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
Attack on Erianna 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27

both missing the elusive sisters yet again.

Seeing the combat not progressing, the big man charges in against Erianna, but threatens both women.

Charge on Erianna 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18

Erianna easily sidesteps the brutish attack, but with surprising grace, the big man flip the blade up suddenly in a second, sudden strike.
