I'm at 32. Maybe Thron could let you increase your work day to 9 or 10 hours? I couldn't find anything that caps spell scribing at only 8 hours.


There isn’t on spell scribing. Just item crafting. I just used 8 Hours/day as an example.

I fully intend to let all this downtime overlap. With you guys finding different people for each item around the world. At this level that kind of travel isn’t unheard of.

So your items can be being upgraded at the same time Eugeni scribes spells as well as the ship bein repaired (not a lot of damage is on it, but it’s there).

Thron, did you ever consider my question about magical horseshoes?


I’m not entirely sure it’d jive with a centaur. Especially a shape shifting one. I don’t think having steel hammered into your hooves is something an sentient creature would be thrilled about. Now, regular boot slot items I’m willing to say you could have adjusted to work, like anklets, over your hind legs, and when you assume a human form they become boots.

I'm planning on using powerful spells to repair and modify the ship a bit once I get it. I need to look into the details more but there should be spells that can fix the ship up and make it look cool/add dragon handles and landing gear.

I'm kinda thinking I'll cast mage's magnificent mansion every couple days with extend spell using my variable metamagic feat so that we can have a giant mansion inside the ship with rooms for each of us. Or maybe eventually a demiplane or something depending on what level we hit.

I also want to look into casting some spells on myself with permanency before we get back to adventuring, but I haven't had time to look into that yet.

If you're looking for repair spells for the ship, I recommend the Make Whole spells, especially Greater.

As for Permanency spells, you can never go wrong with Permanent See Invisibility. Just 5,000 gp (or a use of Blood Money). Often some of the best 5,000 gp I've ever spent.

Zoli: What about the Spectral Shroud? It's a core item that grants unlimited See Invisibility. For our level, it's also surprisingly cheap at 26,000 gp. It also has a cool secondary feature.

@Thron: Here are the two Word of Recall sanctuaries I had in mind for Jeeves. I think it would be a good idea to iron out the details.

Kyonin:

The Kailani family estate in Erages. Jeeves grew up and raised her twins here. It is also where she has currently stashed Shion. Her parents live here, and she buried Vince in the family graveyard.

Magnimar:

The Kyonin Embassy. After The Skinsaw Murders, Jeevika has been sitting around her office, tallying up the census data, and making sure that Ironbriar's shenanigans didn't harm the local Elven community. After several months, it feels like a home away from home: both Sabby and Setsu have visited her here at some point, she reunited with Ryli here, and Shion was born in the building.

Changes:

The big change is that Jeevika is just going to buy a Headband of Inspired Wisdom +6 in Iadara instead of upgrading her current +2 to +6 to save time and get access to the benefits immediately. It also shaves two days off our wait. Ethariel will get her old +2.

The second change is that Jeeves will buy another 1,000 gp in Diamond Dust.

Finally, Jeeves is also buying a bunch of drawing supplies for possible Greater Teleport references.

So is the longest wait time down to 24 days now? I can spend a few/several days scribing for 22 hours a day if needed. My ring of sustenance should enable that. However, I'd prefer to avoid the hand cramp and eye strain for Eugeni's sake.

The Fey Form spells are just what you need! Fey Form III+ allows diminutive size, and much like the Monstrous Humanoid line, you can still cast your spells and access your gear! Plus you get a lot of cool abilities!

Anyway, that's Sabrina's farewell! Maybe. Cladissa sort of gave her a good reason to return, lol.


I don't see any Diminutive creatures that are Aberrations. But won't you run the risk of making yourself less intelligent by using PAO?


As to Landing Gear...Fabricate? An average unskilled check for Eugeni is a 19. That would be enough to do it. I'd classify such an item as probably High Quality, so DC 15. Once the basic structure of them is complete, some mundane workers could attach them relatively quickly, easily before the magic item stuff is done.


I don't mean a permanent transformation, just some kind of buff. Fey Form III seems like a great option, thanks.

Fabricate also sounds good. How much would the wood or iron or whatever for the landing gear cost?

Despite being a priestess, I think that's the first time Jeeves has actually petitioned Shelyn directly for help (rather fittingly because it will literally take a Miracle to pull this off). I would say that it's a holdover from her days as an Oracle of Bokrug. The ol' Water Lizard just handed her some divine power and basically said, "Figure it out yourself, kid." Poor Jeeves is just not used to the idea that a divine being would actively help her. If you all haven't noticed, she is often under the impression that she is one minor slip away from falling from Shelyn's favor. Old habits die hard.

Thron, if Shalelu froze to death offscreen, that's understandable (and very sad). However, I still think it would be cool if a side plot over two years in the making (!!!) was finally concluded.

I’m debating whether or not 2nd hand knowledge of a person counts as “Familiar.” I let it slide with Argor due to DM Fiat as well as his own celebrity status...but Shalelu was no celebrity.

Huh. Didn't notice that particular emphasis of the spell. I'll leave it up to you, but I imagine that Jeevika probably has a lot of secondhand info about her through other PC characters (whatever Setsuna left behind, Zoli, Ryli, and especially Eugeni).

I guess it could be done through Eugeni? He certainly knows her. He also knows the Sending spell, so I imagine that he could forward the message for Jeeves. Unawareness about the "familiar" word aside, I contacted her directly mostly for narrative simplicity and speed.

Reading Setsuna from 2015 is so weird; she's practically a different character. I think the events of Fort Rannick caused her to go slightly insane.

Anyway, there's my in-character justification for Jeevika accepting this side quest. Push comes to shove, we just add another fool to the pile of corpses who thought they could take us and crib their stuff (plus Alaznist's treasury) for The Greater Good™.

How far along the downtime timeline are we here, Thron? Has the 30whatever days elapsed already, or are we still in the middle somewhere?

I ask because I haven't added any of my newly copied spells or gear to my sheet yet.
