I'm saddened to see that no one has mentioned Dark Sun. That was my all-time favorite setting and I was absolutely beside myself when I got into a DS campaign on these boards. It has been great fun so far!

GM:
I was hoping to have the first draft of my character submitted tonight for you to peruse, but, unfortunately, I am currently bed-ridden with some sort of stomach thing. I'll try to finish it up tomorrow, but it might not be until the weekend.

Dotting.

Silver Crusade

Hmm... I should really decide who Salazar worships, eh? Probably an important part of the Drow lifestyle...

Haagenti is my patron. My family earned the knowledge of alchemy and gunpowder through devout service, and my life and soul are pledge to Haggenti alone

Liberty's Edge

Overseer, did you have any feedback based on what I've posted so far?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shakes, the shakes become a warning. It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.

does that mean coffee is my patron? lol

Sorry, Salazar - didn't mean to make light of your post, as its obviously quite serious... it just made me think of this...

Silver Crusade

no no, it's brilliant :-) I try not to take myself too seriously, even when I talk seriously in character :-P

The sleeper must awaken

So what about a tiefling/drow? He's not a slave, he's just a tiefling with drow blood. I mean Drow DO have alliances and dalliances and other relations with Demons and Devils and Outsiders.

Scott - he did say he'd allow one in the campaign - that's what Faeryl is, but that's not to say others can't submit one too.

Koliah, it is preferred that equipment be sorted out before the campaign begins but is not strictly necessary. It would certainly save some time, and posts, if you did so.

Tazennin, no problem. And I agree, Dark Sun is amazing! I was honestly looking at something just today called Obsidian Apocalypse, which has been called the 'lovechild of both Dark Sun and Ravenloft', something which sounds quite interesting to me. I have seen only good things as far as reviews on the setting, with a 5 star+seal of approval from Endzeitgeist, along with it being listed by him as a top 10 candidate for 2014. If I knew people were interested, I might look into the setting more.

Feral, Ruul is quite interesting. I see a Ruul under your aliases, but it doesn't seem like the one you posted here. The one you posted here though is very solid! :)

Scott Henry, as I stated somewhere on the thread, that is perfectly permissable.

Liberty's Edge

Thanks!

The Ruul I have under my profile now is from another game that died off. I’m recycling the name/profile but the character is completely different (besides being a minotaur). I’ll move all the info over once I’m chosen for the game. =P

Feral, ah ok! Yes, that's been my one complaint of PBP is that sometimes people drop or prematurely end the campaigns. Since I'm a GM primarily, this is less of a problem for me, but it still happens at times with PCs dropping out occasionally.

Roger Roger!

Is this Haggenti pretty good with the healing magicks?

Might I suggest you consider leasing your soul to the Prince of Darkness?

I was going for a Tiefling Ninja. His family has a history of working with and enslaving demons and has some Draegoloth in the family as well. He's more a mix of a drow and something possibly from the plane of shadows.

I'm definitely interested in this.

Was thinking about a cleric/monk of Zon-Kuthon focused on tripping, intimidate, and damage.

Few questions for you, GM Overseer.

1. How much gold do we start out with, exactly?

2. Would it be fair to trade out all the proficiencies of the drow for the spiked chain?I realize that a cleric would get it for free, but I wanted to start him off as a monk, and discover his clerical powers after the fact.

3. How does worship of other evil gods, besides demon lords, go over in the Underworld? I figure what with all the darkness, pain and suffering under there that Zon-Kuthon would have a field day!

Bigrig107, answers to your questions are below.

1. 1,000 GP

2. Yes.

3. The way it is described, power is the only thing that matters. Amongst the commoners, not very much thought goes into religion, I would think and the nobles are not much different for the most part. Sure, 'heresy' within the houses is not looked too fondly upon, but they are more likely to send those sorts of individuals away so that they can be useful elsewhere.

Ok, I have not finalized my decision yet, but am now considering a half-elf(drow) Oracle of the Dark Tapestry. Curse will likely be Unchained. Background is coming together.

Hurkkagg's crunch completed... will be working on the fluff this evening and pooling diabolic notions with Drayen for a joint background.

backing out. sorry.

Will those who use Paizo only material because of lack of 3rd party stuff suffer any disadvantage?

My own crunch is 95% complete. Hashing out fluff now. The northmen are in quiet consultation on just how much bragging and flyting are necessary.

@bigrig107: I only use Paizo material, too, but those others don't scare me! =D

Going to a local con Saturday, so might not get my submission up until later.

Leaning towards a battle/support cleric/monk of Zon-Kuthon that trips and demoralizes enemies.

Just don't expect any healing from me!
My healing....hurts.

bigrig107, no, I do not think that will make much of a difference at all.

GM Overseer of Azathyr Tuesday, 11:59 PM:

4 DAYS UNTIL APPLICANT DEADLINE!

That was posted on Tuesday, so I think that means tomorrow is the final date for applicants to get their interest at least noted... Just a reminder to anyone who pops into the thread and thinks to wait...

*on tenterhooks to see who is selected* (Hope I'm one of them)

Asmodeus is the way to go, all the cool kids are doing it!

Deities and alignments are far too restricting.

Puts Tirion's name on his list of people choosing to get healed by arcane rather than divine means.

Infernal Healing - the wizards replacement for annoying proselytizing clerics.

Personally I find that most clerics are quite tasty, especially the squishy warm sun and life worshipping ones.

Mine is actually crunch completed, but it would seem I didn't paste said crunch into the vestigial alias I've made. Will be rectified tonight.

Drayen has also shown interest ;)

Just a reminder, evil clerics can prepare cures. And activate cure wands.

And as for tasty sun-clerics, those are the type clerics like myself enjoy capturing, breaking, and converting.

They offer the highest challenge, you see.

Kolaiah, as for Asmodeus, the Midnight Lord has much in common with him.
I'll be looking forward to dealing with his servants on this plane.

Inspiration for my character in a nutshell:

Drow, Bugbears & Erol Otus. Oh My!

Heheh. Love it.

Fundamentals of Hurkkagg's background and appearance now in profile GM Overseer - will temper further as my collaboration with Drayen bears more strange fruit :)

cute pic... nasssty bugbears

Devils as a source of material components and summoned minions, sure! But as something to be worshiped... pass. For that matter, Taecuss would look as gods as a solid goal rather than an object of worship. But to each their own. :)

Liberty's Edge

I'm curious how much interaction we're going to have with the surface and the forces of good.

As little as possible I should hope!

Enough to fuel a celebratory orgy of blood sacrifice to santify our new kingdom...I hope

Kolaiah wrote:

What? You do realize we are going to run out of subterranean land to subjugate sooner or later, right? :P

We need surface dwellers for that?

no, but their screams of terror are somehow more satisfying. :)

Hey, I may be going to hell in a bucket, at least I'm enjoying the ride.

Well, I hope I'm not heading to Hell. Hopefully, my lord will save a spot for me in his realm.
