Channeling the power of the winter storm, Ghadmyr channels another icy blast at some of the tasloi.
Chill Wind centered on J24. Attack rolls vs Fortitude: I24 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16, J23 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25, K25 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15. 1d6 ⇒ 3 cold damage on a hit (and on a hit they are slid 1 square down, but I imagine that is moot if they are minions).
The power of the winter wind stirs the branches and chills the tropic-loving tasloi, who fall out of the trees, shivering and squawking and land on the ground with a thud.
That hits all of them!
Upon seeing so many of their number killed or otherwise incapacitated, the leader of the tasloi calls out a hooting cry. The tasloi retreat deeper and higher into the trees. It would seem the fight has gone out of them.
The combat is over if you want it to be with their retreat. You gain full XP for them all as you defeated them.

"Wait up tha daft buggers. Wants word with tha."
Healaugh yells at the retreating tree creatures.
The tasloi provide no response.

Healaugh shrugs and brushes himself down.
"Anyroad, time for some tuneful healing, I'm thinking. I'm in a poor way mesen."

"Hmm. They should be more discerning when they choose their prey."

Healaugh shakes an admonishing head at the Tasloi and heads towards another door.
Unless anyone has a better idea, going to the door in the nearest southern building.

Ghadmyr will continue to survey the landscape for any movement, alert to any signs of an ambush. (Although boar tracks would be nice, too.)

Ghadmyr sees no obvious tracks in the immediate area, nor any signs of life in the immediate vicinity bar the tasloi.

Healaugh attempts to open the door.
Healaugh opens the door and finds that beyond it lies a well-appointed sitting room with a large plush couch, twin arm chairs, a fireplace and a liquor cabinet. The floor is covered with a thick wool carpet and empty bottles lie around. There is a door in the southern wall of the room.

Healaugh sniffs disapprovingly at the liquor cabinet.
"Snares of deviltry."
Fairly recently to judge by the empty bottles. There are two empty bottles in the cabinet too. There is no dust or detritus to suggest long disuse. It might have been in use only yesterday.

Avoiding Healaugh's beady glare, Ynyr pokes experimentally among the bottles.
"For medicinal use and to see if there is any evidence, do you see?"
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19 - exploring contents. They are empty, certainly, but dregs may remain.

"Hmm. What kind of occupants would remain in this stronghold while tasloi swarm outside?"

Ghadmyr attempts to open the door on the far side of the room.
The door opens easily and Ghadmyr can see that it opens into a corridor with a door in the south wall and a door at the eastern end.

Entering the southern chamber, Healaugh can see that it is clearly a bedroom, with an attached bathroom. The bed is a large four-poster, and is unmade. There is a wardrobe against the wall and a fireplace to the southeast.

Healaugh plods around the room looking for clues to the inhabitants.

The short and tall pair of detectives find that the bed is still warm as if it has been slept in recently. The wardrobe contains robes, similar to the ones on the body at the gates, as well as 3 expensive, skimpy dresses.
The fireplace holds glowing coals and ashes.

Healaugh scowls and searches for more doors.
There be no more doors in the bedroom to be found.

Temporarily dismissing the dead man's tendencies from his mind, Healaugh makes his way to the eastern door.
Healaugh opens the eastern door and finds it opens into a corridor. Opposite him is another door. To the north is the exterior wall, and the corridor goes south and then turns east.

"Bit door happy, bain't they?"
Healaugh opens the next inviting door.

A small well is set just inside this door. Large cupboards stand about the walls, and open cupboard doors show shelves of intact food. At the east end of a long pine table, a figure is lumped face down on the tabletop. An empty brandy bottle stands nearby, next to a broken chair leg.
