My surreptitious take-over of this PbP continues.

Bloody hell! Ddraig's awake!

The white boar looks at the heroes and then makes a gesture with its head as if to say, "Don't just stand there! Do something!"

M Human Barbarian 4

"So great! Now the pig is ordering us around."

Male Halfling Bard 4

"No point asking poor beast. Jaw won't be fitted up right for speech like."

Healaugh looks hard at the boar.

"Reet. If'n we're dealing with yon nasty, tha's going to have to help out. Understand that does tha?"

Through the door, he looks anxiously back towards the kitchen.

"Just stay put, our Yara. No call for coming in here," he bellows soothingly.

The boar nods quickly, in a frustrated manner.

Male Human Artificer 4

"Very curious indeed, and most disturbing to think that this poor beast is not, perhaps a poor beast at all. I do not think that this Shinvar was at all orthodox in his methods, do you know."

All

Spoiler:
I'm slightly confused by all the positive vibes I seem to be getting about the Boar, but I presume that it's still the enemy! With that in mind, I've posted an action.

Ddraig moves forwards (N27;O27;P27;P28), then charges the boar (Q27;Q26):

Basic Melee Attack on Boar v AC: (1d20+10=12, 1d8+5=11)

Well, that was a success, wasn't it!

M Human Barbarian 4

Possibly it was.

"You know, I can't help thinking that maybe we should deal with the bulette and then see what the pig does then. Hey, it's a magic pig, what can I say?"

Um... See discussion thread... But it was a miss.

The boar looks extremely annoyed as Ddraig runs in and tries to hit it. His sword bounces off its hide, and the bulette mutation lumbers over and roaring viciously, claws him and the boar.

Double attack - claw vs Ddraig's AC; vs White Boar
1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 282d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 2) + 6 = 91d20 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 162d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 6) + 6 = 15
9 damage to Ddraig

The claws are like great daggers as they shear through the dragonborn's armour. The boar dodges the clumsy attack of its foe.

Healaugh doesn't mince his words.

"Tha gurt numpty, our Ddraig. It's on our side."

He jabs his wand at the bulette. "Can't be doing with this."

Entangling Opening (Will). On hit, the next time the target is hit by an attack before the end of your next turn, it is knocked prone.
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10

Thoroughly put out, he misses horribly.

Male Elf Druid 4

Ghadmyr sends a shock of lightning at the beast.

Storm Spike. 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 vs reflex. 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 lightning damage on a hit, and if it doesn't move at least 2 squares on its next turn, it takes 4 more lightning damage.

M Human Barbarian 4

Charge to Q27, use Daring Charge power, 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 9 + 1 = 15 v AC, damage 2d12 + 5 ⇒ (7, 10) + 5 = 22.

"DIIIIIIIE!" yells Macmorr as he charges the misshapen bullette creature.

Or maybe not. Ynyr.

Male Human Artificer 4

Move to P22
Aggravating Force (AC). On hit, the next ally to attack the target before the end of your next turn gains a +2 power bonus to the attack roll
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17

Ynyr ducks behind the boar's great bulk and misses completely as his trusty dagger fails to break through the mutant hide.

Is it reptilian? On the offchance Ynyr scores a crit at any time, it may matter.

Ghadmyr strikes the monstrosity, alone of all his comrades and the creature roars in pain.

Ghadmyr hits, everyone else misses. I'll say it counts as reptilian. Too bad Darvyl isn't here with his scalebane scourge.[/dice]

Male Dragonborn Paladin, Level 4

First, an attack by the Boar:

The Boar shifts (R25 to S26 et al), and gores the Bulette:

Gore attack on Bulette v AC: (1d20+9=24, 2d10+3=14)

Ddraig then moves across to Q29 and attacks the Bulette:

Radiant Smite on Bulette v AC: (1d20+10=14, 2d8+6=18)

And then, because he can (and he's pissed off because his attack is likely to have failed!), he breathes over the Bulette:

Dragon Breath on Bulette V Reflex: (1d20+8=28, 1d6+2=7)

Edit: as that's a crit (great timing, IC!), the damage is a majestic 8 instead of 7!!!!!

He then spends an action point and hits it again!

Righteous Smite on Bulette v AC: (1d20+9=27, 2d8+4=12)

"You will die, abomination!"

Gore misses. Radiant Smite misses. Dragon Breath hits. Righteous Smite hits.

The boar shoves past Ddraig and attempts to gore the creature, which dodges aside. Ddraig joins the fray and swings with wild abandon, also unleashing his acidic breath.

The creature roars in pain, and reveals its own breath weapon, a cone of flame..

The pool of liquid catches light on places, billowing up in flames!

Close blast 5 vs Ref, affecting Ynyr, Ddraig, Macmoor, Healaugh, Ghadmyr:
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 251d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 141d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 321d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 251d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 251d12 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Miss = half damage
Ghadmyr, Healaugh and Ynyr take 10 fire damage.
Ddraig takes 5 fire damage
Macmoor takes 14 fire damage

AP - Double Attack - makes 2 claw attacks at the White Boar
1d20 + 14 ⇒ (9) + 14 = 232d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 3) + 6 = 141d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 192d6 + 2 ⇒ (1, 2) + 2 = 5
White Boar takes 14 damage

Male Halfling Bard 4

Healaugh grunts slightly as the fire rushes over him, but concentrates on keeping his friends upright.

Ducking behind the boar he shouts horribly at the bulette, hoping to put it off while bolstering his friends.

Verse of Triumph (AC). On hit, allies within 5 squares gain a +1 bonus to damage rolls and saving throw to the end of the encounter. If an enemy is reduced to 0hp, Healaugh and any allies within 5 squares can shift one square as a free action. Miss, half damage
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 1) + 6 = 9
Move to R22.
Minor - anyone need healing yet?

Male Elf Druid 4

The bulette takes 4 lightning damage because it failed to move on its turn.

Ghadmyr sends another lightning strike at it.

Storm Spike. 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22 vs reflex. 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 lightning on a hit and, again, if it doesn't move at least 2 squares on its turn it takes another 4.

Miss from Healaugh. Hit from Ghadmyr.

Healaugh's shouting doesn't do very much but it at least reassures his companions that the doughty halfling is still alive. Ghadmyr continues to channel lightning into the beast.

M Human Barbarian 4

"Aaaargh!" The flames lick at the doughty warrior.

Pressing Strike: I shift 2 through the bullette (allowed by the power) to R29 before I strike and attack 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 9 + 2 = 13 (I get flanking from the boar) to hit v AC, 1d12 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 damage. I also push the bullette 1 square to Q-R/27-28 if I hit. I'm also out of the fire.

Use AP: Devastating Strike: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 9 + 2 = 30 to hit v AC, 1d12 + 5 + 1d8 ⇒ (12) + 5 + (1) = 18 damage. Enemies are now +2 to hit me until my turn.

EDIT: OK, I'm using my Couters of Second Chance which give me a re-roll on the first attack. 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 9 + 2 = 19.

EDIT 2: Hmmmm....

The bulette is in difficult terrain - care to try that go again in a different way? :D

The trees are not difficult terrain but any creature who moves under them or starts a turn under them is subject to an attack from the fruit. The blue area is liquid from the smashed tank, and is difficult terrain.

M Human Barbarian 4

Looking at the map, if I do my 2-square shift from the Pressing Strike (shifting 1 on difficult terrain) and get to Q28 and then attack, I can then simply shift 1 to R29 (which isn't difficult terrain) using my move action, which I didn't take anyway in that round. That means that I don't get flanking for my first attack on the bullette with the Pressing Strike (so -2 on both attempts) but I still get flanking for my Devastating Strike at that comes after I get to R29. That way I end up in the same place, and probably with the same result as above anyway, and everyone is happy. OK with you?

Works for me! Your second attack hits indeed. Ynyr?

Male Human Artificer 4

Healaugh moved to R22, by the way.

Move to S20
Spike Wire (Fort). On hit, until the end of your next turn, any attack deals +2 extra damage.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Woah. Crit. Bulette takes 12 force damage and that is all because he doesn't have a magic implement of any kind.

Thoroughly put out, Ynyr backs away from the rampaging bulette-thing and traps it in a small sphere of wire that expands to dig deeply into its flesh.

Sorry for delay, folks. Busy few days. Ghadmyr - you're in charge of the Boar this time - see the discussion thread for his stats. He's taken 19 damage so far.

Ddraig takes his ongoing damage, then hacks at the Bulette with Paladin's Judgment:

1d20+10 v AC; on a hit, 3d8+5 damage, and one ally within 5 squares can spend a healing surge; on a miss, one ally within 5 squares can spend a healing surge.

Rolls: (17)+10 = 27 v AC; (3)+(4)+(6)+5 = 18 damage.

In addition, Ddraig uses the daily power of his Deathstalker Longsword, to deal an additional 5 ongoing necrotic damage (save ends; saving throws against this effect are at a -2 penalty.

I agree it's unclear in the MM, but in the MM2 and the MM3 it is quite specific that a monster can only spend a single AP per round. You are the DM and it is up to you, I'm just pointing out RAW.

Actually my hp total on my sheet is incorrect - I've already taken 19 damage. So I'm unconscious on -15. But alive - for now.

Damn if only Shivnar were alive to gloat - "yes, bleed, my barbaric friend! Bleed! BWAHAHAH!"

Male Halfling Bard 4

Despite his worst fears, Healaugh hopes against hope that a flicker of life remains to Macmorr. Braving the bulette, he sidles past the boar and mutters words that only he can properly understand in the barbarian's direction. "Brigid-lass" is vaguely discernable in there somewhere. Realising that he is a lot too close for comfort, he tries to wink out of sight.

Move to U25
Majestic Word on Macmorr. He spends a healing surge +4.
He also slides one square if he wishes.
Eyebite (Will) v Bulette.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
If that hits,
1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 and he is invisible to the bulette to the end of his next turn.

Male Dragonborn Paladin, Level 4

I presume that Macmoor couldn't use the healing surge provided by my Paladin's Judgment?

I forgot that. No-one took you up on it. I assume Macmoor should use it before his mauling. If he does, with that and Healaugh, he's on 27 HP and prone. I think.

M Human Barbarian 4

I'd be on negatives anyway, I think, even if I had the surge (just not so close to death's door) and as everything resets to zero when I get healed it sadly doesn't make much different since it came before the bulette smacked me rather than after. After the majestic word I think I'm on 17hp.
